So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

Hi Justwhen. It is hard during the holidays butcat least if you have the little words Slimming world nagging at your conscience it hopefully means you don't put on as much as you would of done.

Dita, sometimes eating things like rice can give you a bit of water rentention or not drinking enough. Hang in there, the pounds will go down again.

The Gu cheesecake is 16 syns I think. Not very cheesecakey but lovely. Do you all know about Mikados for a chocolate fix? 1/2 a syn each and great to nibble on in the evening if you get cravings. Quark is in Sainsbury and Tesco but lurks in a weird place and I can never quite remember where, possibly by the fromage frais. Usually in a round tub with foil lid.

We were lucky enough to get an allotment earlier this year which was going brilliantly until last month when I struggled to get down there. I'm now aching from 3 hours of weeding and digging but brought back loads of marrows, spuds, French and runner beans, cucumbers, a lettuce and the world's tiniest most pathetic pumpkin. There's a pretty decent crop of butternut squashes down there which should be done in a month or so, no excuses on the superfree veg front.

I can't face trying scan bran but keep coming across cake recipes that use them and was thinking of buying a packet, might leave that I think.

ElizabethWakefield · 06/09/2010 20:48

Just back from my class, I tried the scan bran and thought they were ok, so i think I might get a couple of packets, if they speed up weight loss then I can cope with the taste. We also got a recipe sheet for all the things you can use them for, so might be worth having a few packets in.

I lost 5lbs tonight, so feeling really pleased and motivated for next week now.

I asked in Tesco (huge giant one) for quark and they never had it, will keep trying.

I would love to have an allotment, I am very jealous Grin

Try again tomorrow dita, it does seem very odd that you lost 4 yesterday?! I honestly think house scales are just weird! Smile

EW wow, what an amazing weight loss - well done!

My weigh in date isn't until Weds - I have been fairly good, except for yesterday when I ended up having 20 syns! I've cut them right back to 6 syns today so I hope that it will all even out.

MMJ I have a lot to lose too, and I'm 5 days into my first week. But I'm just focussing on trying to lose 20 lb by xmas. I hope it goes well for you.
I know what you mean about being "in the right place", it is soooo important. I just wish I knew how to stay there for more than a few days at a time Grin

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 06/09/2010 22:28

That's fantastic Elizabeth, well done! I'm going to brave a pack of scan bran then and going to try some of the cake recipes. Currently feel like I'm 90, not convinced exercise is good for you !

MMJ, I have shedloads to lose. If I think about it as the whole amount it feels too daunting so I'm concentrating on a stone at a time.

Justgettingby, sounds like it is going well, fingers crossed for a good loss on Wednesday. I hate waiting for WI day, I'm much too impatient .

ditavonteesed · 07/09/2010 07:49

elizabeth that is amazing, feel all motherly and proud of you. re weighed myself this morning and am 13st so 1 of the extra pounds came off, 2lb is not great for a first week but it is heading in the right direction. I am aiming for 2lb a week, which would get me to target in 21 weeks, which is just in time for my wedding anniversary next year.
god that seems so long.
going to make a lovely stodgy veg stew for tonight so barely any calories there. been really good on no9t having crisps which is my usual downfall.
a friend told me she got slimmer of the week and I remembered what it was like getting a lovely shiny sticker for your book, now I want lovely shiny stickers.

Fimbles5 · 07/09/2010 08:02

Well done EW - 5lbs weight loss is amazing. My weigh in day is tomorrow too, so hoping for a good loss. Fingers crossed!!

ElizabethWakefield · 07/09/2010 16:53

Thanks everyone! Thanks for feeling all motherly and proud, Dita Grin It was funny, I had to take DD to my class with me last night and she was all proud that I lost more than anyone else in the class and kept going on that she thought the clap I got was louder than anyone elses Grin

I do love the shiney stickers too, we can give out our own virtual ones to each other like this here Grin

DD and I made scan bran fererro rochers today after school, they are currently setting in the fridge, so I will report back on them.

Have had a good day today, we had our fortnightly team meeting today at work, and each person takes turns of bringing in nice things for it, usually cakes or something. Today the Guy who's turn it was brought in cakes for everyone else and nice carrot sticks for me Grin I was quite pleased, but it did make me think that i had maybe went on about my diet a bit much Blush

Good luck for everyone with a WI tomorrow

I can positively see you beaming down the computer, I have to stop weighing myself evryday as my body is obviously odd, having lost all that weight again I have put it on again today, tis most odd. must be water related. that was really thoughtful of the guy to bring you carrot sticks.
good luck today fimbles.

dizzytrout · 08/09/2010 13:02

Well done WI, that's fab :)

Dita, I got told off by my SW consultant for weighing myself every day, I kept being disappointed with my weight losses if they weren't the same as my scales :)

Weighed in last night and lost 1.5 lbs, so that's 15lbs altogether now, was hoping for more, but I did have a bit of alcohol this weekend..

Under 2 weeks until the Great North Run Now, I'll be interested to see what I lose that week!!

xx

littlemefi · 08/09/2010 17:00

Hi all, can I join too?
I rejoined SW three weeks ago to shift the last of my baby weight....can't really call it baby weight as dd is 13 months old! More like cake weight from thinking I could get away with eating it while breastfeeding!
Have done SW before and lost 3 and a half stone and was at target for a while....be interested to see if the extra easy plan works. I am used to red and green days but will give ee a go!
Good luck everybody, have lost 3 and a half pounds so far and have 1 stone 4 to get to target.

Well weighed in today and have lost 2lbs!! Am a little disappointed if I am honest - this is the first time I have tried slimming world, usually do weightwatchers. Normally with WW lose 4lbs in first week, however, I have found SW easier to follow and haven't felt hungry at all so maybe this is the way to go. Please someone give me a kick to ensure that I don't fall off the wagon now as feeling a little despondent :(

ditavonteesed · 09/09/2010 07:43

2lbs is a brilliant loss. do not fall off the wagon, you can do it and think how great you will feel. It seems like a long stretch now but it will not be long in the scheme of it and will be so worth it.

MMJ that is great, even if you don't get a big loss I bet you will have lost fat iyswim.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 09/09/2010 07:55

Have to jump in the shower as SW at 9am but just wanted to say 2lbs is great Fimbles. I've done WW a fair bit in the past and joined many years ago at exactly the same weight I started at this time. I lost 8lbs then 2lbs in the first two weeks. With SW this time I lost 5lbs the first week, then stayed the same and it took about 6 weeks to shift 10lbs. I'm at 13lbs now and will see what happens with WI number 8. Despite shifting the weight quickly at the beginning with WW I had dropped out before week 8 as I got hungry. WW hasn't worked for either of us in the past or we wouldn't be here so time to leave it behind and not compare, though it is hard.

2lbs x 52 weeks is 104lbs in a year, 7 stone something. Just imagine yourself all sorted out this time next year having lost all your weight with out being hungry. Now go and look in the fridge at your marg or butter and imagine 2lbs of that off your stomach forever.

Fimbles5 · 09/09/2010 08:03

Thankyou diva & wynken - when you look at 2lbs over a year it makes you think differently. Feeling a little better today and more positive. We can do this :) Good luck for weigh in today.

Joby1970 · 09/09/2010 08:13

I used to be a SW consultant..& I used to tell my ladies that 1lb a week is 4 stone in a year!

Good luck to you all - when I first started SW (back in 1994) I lost 5 stone in 12 months x

ElizabethWakefield · 09/09/2010 09:53

Just quickly logging in from work.

Well done everyone on all your loses this week, we are all doing great! I am very proud of our group! Grin Good luck for this morning Wynken!

The best way to lose is slowly and it is more likely to stay off, either 1 or 2lbs is what i will be aiming for (hoping for) every week!

Best get back to work, but will check in later from home Smile

Hi Just quickly updatin on first week after weigh last night - 5lbs lighter! I am trying to tell myself that my clothes feel a teeny bit looser, but I don't think they do really.

Fimbles - Congrats on your weight loss, sorry you were a little disappointed.
Another lady started with me last week, she lost 2lbs too. Our consultant said that lots of people have their great weight loss on their second week, so you are probably going to have a fab loss next week.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 09/09/2010 12:06

Just logging in quickly to report, 2lbs off, which gave me my first stone award.

Fantastic Justgettingby, 5lbs is brilliant.

ditavonteesed · 09/09/2010 13:58

well done everyone.

JustGettingByMum · 11/09/2010 07:35

Oh damn, damn, damn. Fell off the SW wagon yesterday. Blush
We are going out for a meal today so I was really strict on Thursday, and was supposed to be strict yesterday (Friday), but instead I ended up eating:

2 (yes 2) curly wurlies
A small (honest twas small ) slice of Battenburg
2 biscuits
and a beer.

OK so it was a very stressful day, but still....

Need to find the "zone" again, quickly!

ditavonteesed · 11/09/2010 07:51

thats not too bad.

AngryPixie · 11/09/2010 08:22

Hey, poking my head around the door. I joined SW on Thursday, was utterly horrified by how much I weigh, but hey ho I will never in my life weigh as much as I did last Thursday (thinking positive)

I am deeply suspicious of extra easy because the only way I've lost successfully lost weight before is by restricting carbs, so I am focusing on red and am trying to be syn free for the first week to wean me off sugars and to give me a first week boost.

Everyone sounds like they are doing amazingly well, but also enjoy the falling off the wagon moments as I think I'd struggle to hang out with complete paragons of virtue Grin

upsydaisysexstylist · 11/09/2010 08:36

Hi can I join am into my third week and first expereince of sw. Doing well so far 8and a half lb in first two weeks ,but I do have an awful lot to lose and urges to eat crap food are becoming stronger. Am aiming for my club10 by end of October, which is another stone.
Finding extra easy easy with the breast feeding extra healthy options, seriously considering weaning son2 after xmas instead of xmas ( 6mnth mark)!
