So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

IKWYM about cost of shoppingShock. My thing is pineapple, until I nearly ate a whole one in one day the other week, and it kind of shocked me into giving up fruit!

ditavonteesed · 16/09/2010 07:42

everyone sounds like they are doing great, my food diary has been working really well, I had a very hungry day yesterday as I think I am due on, so I stocked up on super low fat low cal foods, did nothing but eat all day and still only had my 1500kcals.
still weighing myself daily on the wiik, I know I shouldn't but I like to make sure it has gone down everyday.
now the big problem, I am going out on Saturday, have a whole day out, going out with a friend to get her tattoo at 10.30 in the morning, so probably going to have to go somewhere for lunch, then meeting old work friends at 3.30, then meeting some other friends at 7ish so going to have to have tea out. also probably going to have an almighty hangover sun, so I need a plan. I do not want to put on.

ditavonteesed · 16/09/2010 08:11

sorry for second update but I thought I would share I am currently wearing my size 14 jeans Grin thats after only 3 weeks so woo hoo.

upsydaisysexstylist · 16/09/2010 08:48

can you research your lunch on line for syns, in an effort not to sabotage myself I have written out the low syn options for the local coffee shops and chiller cabinets so I can grab something for 2-3 syns. Have found M&S salads to be a good option and you can always pick up a small packet of ham and fruit as well there.

Riadingbetweenthelines · 16/09/2010 10:55

jacket potatoes and steak and salad, IIRC I read that Pizza Express do a diet-type range. I think planning ahead for your hangover nursing treats is a good betWink

not well todaySad feel like I have a bad cold coming on, and DS3 and I have a bit of a dodgy tummy (hopefully a weight-loss boosting one thoughWink)

AngryPixie · 16/09/2010 13:37

Just had week 1 weigh in 5.5lbs Grin
Thrilled to bits, particularly as I had several v large glasses of wine over the weekend. I did however go to the gym 4 times last week.

The pixie is not angry today Grin

ditavonteesed · 16/09/2010 14:59

Grin thats fab pixie.

ElizabethWakefield · 16/09/2010 15:08

Well done everyone on your loses, we are all doing so well! Excellent news about the jeans dita, I was saying this morning that i thought my trousers were feeling a little looser too, it's a great feeling isn't it!! Grin

I've been quite good this week, been trying to make sure i eat all my syns, like I was told to, went to a friends for dinner last night and she made a pasta dish that i think was probably more fattening than I am allowed, but she has toddler triplets, so i am amazed that she even has time to cook, so i wouldn't comment Grin

I have a 3 day course on in work next week, which will be fully catered, starting with pastries at 8.45am and continuing with sandwiches and cakes throughout the day! Don't know what i will do....starve or stuff my face seems to be my only 2 options! Grin

brilliant loss pixieGrin

AngryPixie · 16/09/2010 17:27

Thanks everyone, trying v hard not to get complacent now.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 16/09/2010 18:09

1.5lbs off for me this week , so 16.5 in total so very happy.

Pixie, fab loss, well done. Dita, hugely jealous of size 14!

Lulumaam, I don't think you're eating enough. For breakfast could you have scrambled egg or beans on toast with some tomato for your third superfree maybe.

Lunch sounds good but maybe some more superfree veg to bulk it out? There's no way I could survive tonight on fruit, yoghurt and free soup. The beauty of SW is you never need to be hungry. My food for the day is:

3 weetabix (hexa, hexb and 3 syns), apple

Jacket spud and cottage cheese with spring onion and tomatoes

Pasta, smoked salmon, tomato, onion, red pepper, mushrooms in 1/4 pot ww creme fraiche (1 syn)

12 mikado biscuits (6 syns) and maybe melon for later.

I've been having a hungry week this week and have eaten lots. Other weeks I'm not so hungry and have less. It is important to eat enough so you don't feel starving.

moocowmrs · 16/09/2010 20:15

This is great getting loads of ideas, have just done and big SW shop with loads of fruit and veg. I have been browsing the SW website, checking syns it was very easy and there is quite alot on there which could be useful. I also did the online food diary, which seems quite easy and useful if you are on the computer during the day, and you can check syns etc as you go, and add favourites to speed things up, there is also a tracker which puts your weight loss on a chart, it was quite good to visualise it going down iykwim, especially if you are having a tough day.

Anyway it wasted half an hour as waiting for DH to come in to have dinner and I am starving so sitting on the computer keeps me from wandering to the cupboard !

Happy slimming all x

DontCallMeBaby · 16/09/2010 23:13

I like the online chart as well - after one week it has extrapolated 4lb every week, I will be 9st 6lb by Christmas.

And pigs will fly.

I've had an excellent day - had enough syns left over to snarf the remainder of the packet of Mikados - DD is going to kill me. :o Neither she nor DH were too keen on Quorn sausage casserole - neither was I tbh, but it filled a hole.

Oh, according to the Wii Fit DH has lost 2lb as well, thanks to eating the SW-friendly food I've been doing for the last week and a half, replacing his work-lunch chocolate with an apple and a banana, and not snacking in the evenings!

ditavonteesed · 17/09/2010 07:43

Ok making friday my new weigh in day (give me time to mend the weekends misdemeanors)
so current weight 12st 13lbs
thats 1lb off this week so well chuffed with that. And checked on wii fit my start weight was 13st 3 lbs (I started a few days before this thread) so 5lbs in total in 3 weeks. not mammoth but definatly heading in the right direction. now am actually not going to weigh myself again till next friday as I want the n ice (or nasty) suoprise.

Lulumaam · 17/09/2010 14:22

thanks elizabethW !

i chekced with my slimming world leader, she said lamb grills were free, but i only had one anyway ! they were a little too like shoe leather.

the pasta & smoked salmon sounds great

i can't find fat free cottage cheese though.. got low fat , but it does have syns

thanks for posting your day's food.

i am not eating anywhere near enough !

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 17/09/2010 14:40

Well I'm probably eating too much really but as I'm losing I'm sticking with it ! Tesco and Sainsbury have cottage cheese in their Healthy Eating etc ranges which aren't fat free but say 0 syns online in the syn thingy.

My latest discovery is the Aplen Light bars. I know the rest of the world know about them but I can't believe how lovely they are, perfect when you need a sweet fix.

Lulumaam · 17/09/2010 16:13

thanks wynken , that's very helpful

just been and got soda water to mix with small measure of wine to make it go further

got some prawns and salmon to make a pasta sauce, with some tomatoes and garlic

did not realise smoked salmon was free !

just need to do some more planning, and not end up just with fruit /veg as a fallback, i need more pasta/couscous/rice with protein

Riadingbetweenthelines · 17/09/2010 16:27

been shopping again...Hmm

Lulumaam · 17/09/2010 17:05

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 17/09/2010 18:34

Riadingbetweenthelines · 17/09/2010 19:19

it seems to be never ending shopping! next week I will plan better!

am going to have the chicken and veg curry out of the SW mag tomorrow. hope it's nice.

Lulumaam · 17/09/2010 20:31

ah i see ! am in the same boat

bought smoked salmon, meant to get creme fraiche for the pasta thing elizabeth listed earlier.. forgot it. got natural yoghurt? will it work??

need to do more planniyn and better planning, but feel more familiar/comfortable with it and with a bit of imagination , i can eat more and not be hungry.

midn you, i've had a big dinner (syn free) but cake.. it's DSs birthday, and don't wnat to force down more laughing cow cheese for my helathy extra
