Wotcha peeps - hello to all the newbies (who seem to be doing v well) and OI YOU BIFFERS GET YOUR LARDARSES INTO THE ZONE to the old timers who are non-zoning (though lovely to see you Buda, Ilythia, Ducky, Cyb, Podge, Cheeeeeeeeeese and Coco - have missed you greatly Grin) And good to see this thread coming to life again - remember all that typing is bound to burn a calorie or two - or at least help slim down your fingers a little bit...

Have had 2 weeks of holiday - few days in brighton at MILs and then rest of time in france drinking too much wine, eating bread alot and eating lots of cheese (am now in a two week exclusion zone for all of the above) - only managed to get in a couple of runs while I was away too thanks to DS2 being rubbish at sleeping due to evil teething.

So, back to the gym tomorrow and back to hardcore zoning- remember ladies, drink LOTS of water (at least 2 litres a day) , stick to non processed foods and load your plates up with salads and fruit where possible.

Guitargirl · 22/08/2010 21:42

Hello! Could I join you please? I am 12st 12 and need to be under 10 stone - ideally 9 st 12 so 3 stones to lose!

I was 13 and a half stone last June, went down to 10 st 10 by last October, then had a few bad days which turned into bad weeks/months and am now SO cross with myself for going back up to nearly 13 stone again!

Anyway, what worked for me last year was cutting carbs and cutting portion sizes so will be trying that again.

CheeeseOnToast · 22/08/2010 21:48

hi dinks. Hope you had a lovely holiday, apart from all the teething. I'm impressed you managed even two runs, you wouldn't find me exercising on holiday...

encyclogirl · 22/08/2010 22:02

Hi CoT, they travel extremely well, and I heat them up in the office micro and they are yum! I add potatoes to mine, low fat greek yoghurt instead of cream, mushrooms, ham, courgettes onions. Kind of like a spanish omlette. We keep chickens so eggs are in abundance.

Very filling and delish.

mamamiafigaro · 22/08/2010 22:26

Sneaking in to confess my sins of the day.

Bad things were -
2 large slices of full fat hm quiche
1 large pork and apple sauce bun
3 cupcakes
2 packets of crisps
1 twirl
1/2 a large caramel bar

1 glass of rose
1 bud
2 1/2 irn bru (full fat)

Feel sick as a dog, been doing an essay for OU course to be handed in tomorrow, im blaming hte stress.

Will definatly be in the Zone tomorrow.

(i need the slaps and rants to make me feel worse and to repent)

dinkystinky · 23/08/2010 09:06

Wtf has happened to this thread? Where are all the hardcore zoners yelling at the biffers? Su will be rolling over in her twitter tweets... Come on ladies - only YOU can make the difference to your weight. Its time to (wo)man up, say bugger off to the biffing food, and get all lovely slim and svelte in time to wow the masses with your slinkiness. You can do it.

Mama - did eating all of those things make you feel better or not? If not, find something that helps you deal with stress that does make you feel better instead of biffing on food. It could be anything - exercise (which will help with the weight loss), meditation, a bath, painting your nails, whatever. And get rid of all the biffer food from your house so it doesnt happen again.

Cheeese - I do a mix of classes and my own gym work outs. Generally find classes are better for a structured quick 45 minute work out as I like to spend at least an hour and a half on a work out when working out on my own. I take inspiration from fitness magazines (Zest, Womens fitness are my two favourites) for different workouts when working out on my own. There are some good books out there though with great structured work outs you can do on your own at the gym - take a look on Amazon at the various workout books by Matt Roberts ( I have the PHA workout book and the Fit for your Shape book which are both brilliant and occasionally dip into those too). If you havent worked out with weights before though, it is worth asking for a trainer at the gym to put together a program for you and walk you through it to make sure you get the right technique - and so the best out of your work out.

BudaisintheZONE · 23/08/2010 10:15

Hi all.

Still struggling. Knowing that this week will be very social is not helping. Have just had a bowl of muesli and granola for breakfast. Will make sure I at least drink lots of water and green tea and fill up on good stuff.

Have friend arriving today for 3 days. Planning BBQ tonight but not too unhealthy. Chicken Satay, beef slices with lemongrass and coriander, a crunchy Thai salad and some rice. Dessert will be BBQ peaches with some greek yoghurt and toasted almonds.

Am at least going to try to stay focused.

Will go hardcore from next Monday though. I PROMISE.

BUDA I AM WITH YOU

(Tis cyb)

I'm lol'ing at our 'I WILL be good, I really will...oh dear I had two lbs of chocolate buttons by accident'

I've eaten chips for the last 3 days! ARGH but have been staying with folks. Oh dear

I AM GOOD

TotalChaos · 24/08/2010 09:13

mama - you are doing chain biffing - i.e. I have biffed once, sod it, I've spoilt the day/week and will carry on. DON'T DO IT. there is a moment of thinking space before biffing - use it to find something else to do/eat/drink.

weighed in yesterday - maintained GAH, 11 stone 13. Mind you have a dodgy tum so maybe that will make me lose a bit Confused

zone eating fine, exercise a problem this summer as the humidity is giving me lots of aches/pains in back and thighs.

Guitargirl · 24/08/2010 09:27

Oh, God, am so terrible for chain biffing - that's how I put all the weight back on that I'd lost! Determined not to do that this time - although now I have to lose it all first Grin!

It was great last summer people saying how much weight I'd lost, etc. And now even my 'fat clothes' are too tight. Very depressing. Still, never mind, will keep going!

dinkystinky · 24/08/2010 10:03

Right biffers - time for some straight talking. Once you've biffed, you cant keep biffing - that way misery, guilt, self loathing and size xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxls lie. You need to draw a line under it, pick yourself up, go do something else and do not biff again. If in doubt, paint your nails - is impossible to biff with wet nails.

TotalChaos - you will see a loss next week if you're zoning and ensuring you dont eat huge portions. Could you try maybe gentle stretching type exercises - yoga, pilates, bodybalance - to see if that helps alleviate the aches?

Guitargirl - remember those compliments last summer? You want those again? Then get in the zone, remind yourself of that when you're tempted to biff and keep at it.

tibni · 24/08/2010 12:56

Right, trying to get my head straight! Im going from biffing more food than I need to over restricting! I know. I know - totally stupid.

Weight from holiday is coming off - managing some gym sessions and have put more weight work into my session. I will concentrate on staying in the zone.

Pisces · 24/08/2010 12:59

I'm with you all in spirit but I have decided that I really cannot concentrate until my DS goes back to school (2nd Sept). I also have just been camping and ate and drank myself silly and this coming weekend I have visitors from Friday through to Wednesday, so, I am a hopeless case.

I will be focused in September.

Having said that, my DD came back from India with something like a bug and I think I have now caught it so I might be losing weight whether I like it or not.

Think I need to go and lie down as I do feel really sick. Sad

tibni · 24/08/2010 13:36

oh no Pisces! Fingers crossed that you don't get dd's bug.

CheeeseOnToast · 24/08/2010 14:44

pass the bug this way, Pisces Blush Wink

tibni · 24/08/2010 15:02

LOL cheeseontoast - Pisces is my RL friend I should get first option!

mamamiafigaro · 24/08/2010 15:44

Totalchaos - i was chain biffing and it continued yesterday..... and yes i do/did feel like crap and im not going to biff again.

Been carb free today-

Fruit for breakie
tomato soup for lunch (fresh not creamy)
and im having a ham and egg salad for dinner.

im determined to undo some of sun/mon damage.

Got my Shred DVD so just need weights (or can it be done with out?) and im on my way.

TotalChaos · 24/08/2010 15:48

ah mama, glad you've got the zone back today. but next time, take advantage of the think space- and there always is a think space - before picking up the biscuit packet!

yes, you can do shred without weights, I think you will find it plenty challenging the first few times even without, so get going on that.

pisces - hope you are OK.

dinkystinky · 24/08/2010 19:39

Mama - you need some protein in your diet to fill you up - include some yoghurt with your fruit, some cottage cheese on rye bread with your tomato soup (and your dinner sounds perfect) and you're there. You can start off the shred dvd without weights - just use tins or 500 ml bottles of water (filled). It might help to plan your meals the day ahead (meals plus 2 small snacks - fruit or something like cottage cheese on oatcake - but just the one) for a few days if you find you've chain biffed - should keep you on the straight and narrow for a bit. Keep that positive mental attitude.

Pisces - hope you're ok and your dd is ok too. Indian bugs are definitely not a good thing (having suffered many of them in my time) - make sure she drinks lots of water and doesnt eat anything (diarolyte is your friend) for a few days and she should be ok.

Did circuits of pain this morning, yoghurt and skinny latte for breakfast, pilates class at lunch, shapers chicken sandwich and fruit salad for lunch plus some shapers prawn spiral crisps (only 99 calories and 1 ww point so while non-healthy food at least was minor transgression), iced skinny latte this afternoon while going through the hell of flat viewings and will be fish cake, white bean mash and courgettes for dinner. Was going to make soup (DH made chicken stock on Sunday) but think will save that for tomorrow when the weather is supposed to be torrential rain and pretty arctic...

encyclogirl · 24/08/2010 21:50

Had an unforeseen funeral to go to today. It is absolutely impossible to spend an entire day at an Irish funeral and not biff.

Plus I had to drive two hours there and two hours back, so no time (or energy) to exercise today.

Right, drawing a line under all of that. Tomorrow is another day :)

mamamiafigaro · 25/08/2010 07:03

Dinky - if im no/low carbs can i still eat rye bread? and oatcakes?

Need a bit of help as to what i can and cant eat as im off to morrisons at lunch time to stock up.

Also im having a bbq tonight should the weather hold so HM burgers and possibly some chicken with salad for me (will salivate over the bunsand crusty bready from afar).

This morning is fruit for breakfast as no yogurts in(unless you count the kids wildlife fromage frais).

Lunch will be soup (eatsmart carrot and corriander).

Well im off to start the Shred DVD, wish me luck.

dinkystinky · 25/08/2010 08:04

Bugger missed that you're no/low carbing it. I think probably oatcakes and ryebread are out then (though they're pretty good if you're following a low GI diet) - maybe try cottage cheese and slices of cucumber or reduced fat houmous and crudites.

Good luck with the shred - remember, its meant to be hard (when you're gasping away saying god I'm so unfit). No pain, no gain - or rather loss - etc. etc.

dinkystinky · 25/08/2010 08:09

Oh yes and Mama - might be worth look at the ipodge back up thread which is also in this section as it seems to be totally devoted to all things low carb.

mamamiafigaro · 25/08/2010 08:27

Ah Dinky i may look into lo gi (off to google in a mo) as i had a look at ipodge, and dont think i want to be cutting carbs out completely and would not like to eat fatty creamy food as i dont usually eat that stuff.

Think i will reduce my carb intake rather than do away altogethar, as i normly would have toast/porridge for breakfast, sandwich for lunch and potatoes/pasta with dinner, so if i can perhaps only have one portion of carbs a day? would that help?

racmac · 25/08/2010 09:23
