Slobbadan · 15/12/2010 12:42

Well im well and truly off the wagon!

I have been good will all my mmeals but its the extras! So much for my bloody pep talk.

I have tho come to the decision that where im not going to go out of my way to eat crap i am also not going to deny myself if its offered! Its only a week till xmas so i will be back firmly in the zone for newyear!

Sorry ladies i am a diet failure for 2010!

thedogwalker · 15/12/2010 13:10

Hi all

I'm with you Shaxx on the tin of roses, we have tins too, but unopened, no problem, but once open, I can just eat and eat and eat those little wrapped sugar bombs, little buggers aren't they. I don't realise how many I've eaten until I look down and see all the wrappers and then the guilt sets in.

Slobbadan you are most certainly NOT a diet failure for 2010, you have been losing steadily, only sometimes sts, which is a healhty way to lose, no faddy get slim quick diets here. You have helped the rest of us countless times, so you are a 2010 star. Keep smiling, knowing that you made a great start in 2010 and will continue the journey in 2011, with, as always, the rest of us by your side Grin

iluvchristmascake · 15/12/2010 18:30

We're all struggling-it's a crap time to try and stay in the zone with all the sugar kicking around.

S/dan-a diet failure would be if you never came back on here again and just gave up. You are still going and encouraging others. We'll all be back on track in the New Year.

My strategy was going to be to treat Christmas day as my "out of the zone" day and just zone as normal for the rest of the time. I've been struggling over last few days though but I'm going to try and haul myself back into the zone.

Shaxx, I keep looking at all the tins of chocs on special offer at the moment. I just can't bring myself to buy one as I know it will be gone before Christmas. I've also tried the WW cakes and I like them-but a bit too much-have been known to eat three or four in one goXmas Blush. I just need to stay away from sugar in all forms really.

justamin, good point about the water. I've not been drinking it at all the last week and the diet cokes have been creeping back in. I need to knock them on the head.

Shred tonight for me. Anyone else?? Even if you've biffed, you can still exercise!Smile

Shaxx · 15/12/2010 18:54

Diet coke?
You know diet coke makes you crave sugar?
Its no good.

The other way of looking at this is to accept that we may not lose weight over the next few days but do we really want to put on 5lbs and have our clothes go all tight??!

Lets have a damage limitation strategy!

How about we all try our hardest to maintain?
That means plenty of fruit and veg, water, exercise then treats here and there should be ok.

Slobbadan · 15/12/2010 19:01

Ok ladies im going to be good as of tomorrow. I will drink loads of water, eat very healthily and try and fit in some exercise.

Im really scared about the major biffing that has gone on and its not looking good for Friday weigh in!

I am going to have my christmas day as a no zone day too and eat all the tasty things, also i will be joining WW in the new year and i dont want to go weighing more than i do now, i hope that by the final christmas weigh in to be 14st 2lb (i am 14st 3lb at the mo) well i was last friday i may be more Xmas Blush

Thank you one again for keeping me on the straight and narrow!

Also was thinking i might buy a dress or top in the sales in a size smaller as a Goal?

Shaxx · 15/12/2010 19:09

Look at the kind of food you eat too.
I find that I'm less likely to have a binge-y day if I have protein for breakfast (omelette, baked beans on toast, poached egg) rather than just toast or cereal. Have a piece of fruit after and it keeps hunger and cravings away.
Do the same at lunchtime and dinner.

Shaxx · 15/12/2010 19:09

Smaller size top is a brilliant idea. I'm going to do that too!

thedogwalker · 15/12/2010 19:56

I agree with shaxx on the breakfast, if you have toast or cereal, which are both carbs, the body finds it so easy to convert that into sugars, which is why you end up craving sugar so quickly after eating carbs Shock, so best not to have any for brekkie, which should then cut down your cravings for sugar throughout the day.

I will agree to try and maintain over the Christmas period, but I know the tins of chocolates etc will be too much for me to resist.

I have been good most of the week, biffed on Monday, but that was because my Dad died and I just ate loads of stuff, didn't make me feel any better, but I've always turned to food for comfort and not the good for you kind of food, but I have been in the zone the rest of the time, so hoping to be ok on weigh day.

Hope everyone is having a good day, take care xx

Slobbadan · 15/12/2010 20:40

What other protien type things do you all have for breakfast as i know too many egg's are bad for your diet non?

I usually have boiled or poached eggs and toast (once a week) or Porridge or toast with roasted cherry tomatoes or just fruit and a yogurt?

Also i never really have cereal and when in the zone i try to have low carbs.

justaminute · 16/12/2010 09:21

Thedogwalker ? sorry to hear of your loss, biffing is totally understandable and allowed in such circumstances

Iluv ? you nearly convinced me to shred last night. I was all set to do it after reading your post but went downstairs to discover dh had just got home and had poured me a cup of tea. (I did resist the biscuit ? yay!) There is no way I could attempt star jumps with a cuppa sloshing around inside me, my pelvic floor is weak at the best of times Blush

Damage limitation is the name of the game for me until January.

Slobbadan · 16/12/2010 10:00

thedogwalker - im so sorry to hear of your loss, i never read that bit yesterday. I can empathise as i lost my dad 5 yrs ago and no how hard it is. ((Hugs))

dinkystinky · 16/12/2010 11:22

Ladies - BE KIND TO YOURSELVES (especially you Thedogwalker - so sorry for your loss)! Xmas is a hard time of year to slim during. Dont beat yourselves up - just try to remember the basic rules

  • drink lots of water
  • mindful eating: if you're going to have a treat, make it a small treat and ENJOY it. One piece of cake you enjoy is 10 times better than mindless biffing on more followed by guilt.
  • try to make wise meal choices and snack choices where possible
  • alternate alcoholic drinks with water - better for your waistline and kidneys
  • try and get some form of exercise in (a walk if nothing else) each day - you'll feel better for it!
Slobbadan · 17/12/2010 07:01

Thedogwalker - how are you doing today?

Well i weighed in and im a lb on, so that makes me 14st 4lbs. Im niether surprised nor worried, and i thought it may of been 2lb so i win!

Will try really hard to Zone all week so i can let go a bit on christmas day.

Hope you all do well in the weigh in x

thedogwalker · 17/12/2010 07:48

Good morning all, feeling much better today, thank you for all your kind words.

Slobbadan, that's great news that you didn't gain as much as you thought, glad it wasn't as bad as you feared. In answer to your protein question, i sometimes have some fruit with greek yoghurt on. the fruit is carbs but easily digestable as it is natural carbs and the greek yoghurt is protein but also a good supplier of calcium. Greek yoghurt much better for you than other yoghurt, no hidden sugars.

Well I got a surprise today on the scales and I lost 3lb, so down to 10st 8lbs

Hope everyone else has a good weigh day and thanks dinky for reminding me about water, I don't drink nearly half as much as I should.

Take care xx

Shaxx · 17/12/2010 10:14

Sorry to hear about your loss Thedogwalker. I've been through that too Sad

I had our work Xmas lunch/do yesterday so ate loads. you can't really eat healthy at these things as even the carrots are cooked in loads of oil.

I have to be really careful today as a session like that normally acts like a trigger for me.
So far today, I've only had an apple as I'm not hungry at all.

Have a good day everyone and remember Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels!
(or fitting into a size smaller top from the sales Smile)

justaminute · 17/12/2010 10:53

Good news slobbadan. Far too easy to put on heaps at the mo so one pound is good damage limitation. Fantastic news thedogwalker, especially given the circumstances. I?m amazed I?ve stayed the same ? something good has come from having the sickness bug last weekend Grin

Currently 11-8. Wanted to be 11 for Christmas, short of losing a limb I don?t think I?ll achieve that. I?m going to aim for 11-7.

iluvchristmascake · 17/12/2010 18:08

Hi all. thedogwalker, sorry to hear your very sad newsSad. Glad you're feeling a bit better today and well done on your fantastic 3lb weight loss!

justaminute-I did level 3 on wed-actually found some of the exercises a bit easier. Level 2 is godawful in places! Are you going to/have you shred today?

I've lost a pound this week so am pleased. Last week was a bad week eating out/festive biffing wise. Aim to lose another one/two pounds next week but have three drinks things so need to be careful with the alcohol and nibbles!

Well done everyone. Think we've all done pretty well considering all the temptation around at the moment.

dinkystinky · 17/12/2010 20:07

1lb on this week but not that worried about it. Well done on the losses TDW and Iluv - great stuff!

Slobbadan · 18/12/2010 13:01

Ilove and thedogwalker well done on those losses,Dinky im hoping to be optimistic and lose the rouge lb and another by the Christmas Eve weigh - in.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Also finnished wrapping ALL the christmas presents last night and i have de-cluttered all the kids toys, 2 bin liners of junk and 2 big bags for the charity shop, and i manage to reduce the mountain pile of toys in the corner to just a tub!

iluvchristmascake · 18/12/2010 13:19

Slobbadan, I'm so jealous, you sound really organised. I have done precisely 5 cards so far and no wrapping . DH off now so guess what we will be doing over the next few days!

Big dump of snow this morning-our first proper big bout of snow and looked like we were going to be snowed in. Meant to be going out to finish shopping but stayed in instead to shred and am now going to tackle cards.

Slobbadan · 18/12/2010 15:10

iluv, i still need to write a few cards and the last gift arrived today (only a cd) so it needs wrapped but thats it! I made a promise to myself i would not be wrapping on christmas eve as per usual. i even went as far as filling the stockings to make sure everything fit and now its stored away ready to fill them, this year we are leaving the stockings on the end of thier beds.

Bet you will have loads of fun in the snow, we are due a bit tonight but we had the worst a few weeks ago (in northumberland) and there is still traces of it left.

dinkystinky · 20/12/2010 14:24

Where is everyone? All snowed in and biffing crazily?

Slobbadan · 21/12/2010 07:12

LOL dinky, almost!

I have biffed to the tune of 1/2lb but im hoping to stay on track today to claim that back (also i came on last week so may be slight water retension). it will be nothing at all to do with the crap i have eaten.

On another note i was looking at the greek yogurt as suggested by thedogwalker but it really high in fat/sat fat? so was reluctant to purchase as there was no low fat version, so what yogurt do you suggest apart from fat free natural because even with berries its sharp?

Im off now to write my christmas food shopping list as the weather here is supposed to turn bad on wed/thur so i want to make sure i have food in!

Wish you all good luck for the weigh in on Friday.

justaminute · 21/12/2010 10:08

Slobbadan ? Waitrose do a nice big pot of natural yogurt for about 80p (can?t remember if I buy the low fat one or not) which I find creamy and not too sharp.

Iluv ? well done on the shredding. I?m finding it hard to find the time to shred at the mo. I got the train and then walked for 20mins to work today. Walking uphill through snow was a killer on the thighs.

All staff were given a Christmas hamper on Friday, it?s contents are slowly diminishing Smile trying not to biff too much but gosh it?s hard.
