Iluvcake - either you're thinking too hard about being on a diet or coming down with something. You shouldnt have a headache or feel shaky. Are you drinking enough liquids? How about eating little and often (mix of protein and carbs) to see if that helps alleviating the shaky feeling. If you are coming down with something then you need to look after yourself Missus.

iluvcake · 18/11/2010 14:19

justaminute, do feel bit tired today. Probably not going to bed as early as I should.

dinky, drinking about a litre/litre and half of water a day. Also had cottage pie for lunch and a yoghurt after. STILL feel shaky like I need sugar.

Will give it a bit longer and maybe eat something else if still feel weird.

Hi Dandylioness - you've been doing brilliantly! You and Undertone and Encyclogirl are now our poster girls for the thread. Yep weigh in is still Fridays - hope you come back to visit more. And bet you drop at least a dress size in time for your xmas holiday - where you off to?

Slobbadan · 19/11/2010 08:42

Ok i doth believe it be weigh in day today.

I weigh in at 14st 5lb, which im suprised at as yes i biffed at the weekend but i have been good ever since monday and i weighed in yest morning at 14st 3.5lb so i have some how gained 1.5lb overnight? Bizzare, unless it waited all week and last weekends biff just landed on my hips?

Alas i am not deterred, but determined to follow the Zone and beat the scales next week, and my back feels better so i will do some more yoga today.

Hope you all have a better weigh in than me.

justaminute · 19/11/2010 09:14

Those darn scales do vary don't they Slobbadan? I weighed in today, I'm normally a Monday weigher but thought I'd switch to Fridays to fit in with you guys and so that I can (hopefully) give myself a xmas present by weighing in on Xmas eve (5 weeks - eek!) Anyway the scales are claiming I've lost 3lb since Monday. I have been good but not THAT good.

I'll take it as it puts me just under by bogey weight of 11-9. (The weight normally goes back on once I hit the 9lb mark)

Now the pressure is on not to blow it this weekend.

Undertone · 19/11/2010 09:15

Morning all. Hi Dandy.

Weigh in - 12 stone 9. Same as last week. But I'm on at the moment and my tits are huge (like - popping out of the top of my bra, which was swinging loose two weeks ago), so there's likely to be some water retention ishoos.

I also have suspicions that my digital scales are playing up. Last week I weighed myself, had a poo and a wee Blush and weighed myself again, and the scales gave exactly the same reading. Angry I mean - it should be sensitive to within 1/10 of a pound.

iluvcake - do you drink tea, coffee, diet coke, or anything? Green tea sometimes gives me the shakes.

iluvcake · 19/11/2010 12:51

Hi everyone. Hello DandyLionessSmile.

9.12.2 last week. 9.12 todayHmmAngry. Gutted.

Have already eaten a slice of toast with butter and jam and three oreos as feel depressed. Will get back in the zone but feel very fed up. I have exercised EVERY SINGLE DAY(apart from last nightBlush) FFS!!!

justaminute, yay! Well doneSmile.

Slobbadan, very strange! But you have the right mind set!

Undertone, you can def weigh in heavier during AF. I feel like michelin man at that time of the month. Am sure you will have lost by next week.

I have ditched the diet coke but I have been drinking a bit more coffee-so that may be the cause. Will try and up the fruit teas.

justaminute · 19/11/2010 13:13

iluvcake - don't get despondent. I'm taking my supposed weight loss with a huge pinch of salt as there is no way that I've lost 3lb in 5 days. I've certainly not starved Wink All the postings today show how weight can fuctuate on a daily basis. It is best to take a long term view and hopefully the trend will be a downwards one.

Also, I definitely lost inches and felt better physically and mentally when I last did the shred but I hardly lost any weight. You need to take that into consideration too.

Don't let the oreos beat you. Smile

Slobbadan · 19/11/2010 14:17

Justaminute, i cannot blame the scales as they are now WW digitals. Im Just a fat bloater.

I have had 2 satsumas, 1 pear and a actvia yogurt for breakie, but have consumed a bag of cheese and onion and a small piece of Thorntons chocoalte cake.... it did not make me feel better a all, infact im hungry but will have to wait till dinner as im afraid to go into the kitchen for fear i will binge myself into oblivion.

Plan of attack this evening is having a baked potato with loads of salad for dinner and when the kids are in bed im going to do some my 60 min yoga i have sky+ed.

Im going to brave the kitchen for a glass of water.

dinkystinky · 19/11/2010 14:28

Hello all - Like Undertone I have my period at present. Like Iluv have been hitting the exercise hard. Scales are showing another 1lb gain, but I know alot of this is water retention as rings are tight etc. so am keeping the faith.

Ladies, we are in the danger zone, when the scales arent shifting as quickly as we'd like them to and we're surrounded by pre-xmas cakes and sweets. We have to stay strong and keep the faith so while everyone else is piling on the xmas pounds (and prexmas pounds) we'll end up looking fit, healthy and fab instead.

Slobbadan - hope you didnt fall over in the kitchen..

Dandylioness im so jealous that your going on holiday! An well done on your loss, i wish i had lost 10lbs!

My diet "plan" is 3 meals a day, low fat/sat fat, low carb, reducing portion size and more fruit and water.

Im also walking loads with school run and (bad back allowing) doing Yoga and Shredding, i also would love to do the couch to 5k but im a bit mortified at being seen running/wobbling along!

Also does anyone no how this podcast malarkie works? If i down load it how do i listen to it? i dont have an iphone or anything so fancy.

Undertone · 19/11/2010 20:38

Am doing tight calorie comtrol (i.e. 64.7g of cottage cheese... 122g iceberg lettuce...) to 1800 calories a day (includes things like nuts and boiled eggs, so not too fussed about fat - good for my skin and hair - esp when I've been on a diet for so long) And burning off at least 500 calories through exercise 5-6 times a week. One day a week - really go for it and try to burn 700-800 calories.

This is TOTALLY different to the diet I started on. Back then it was 200-300 calories of exercise 3 times a week (some weeks no exercise at all), combined with a mega low-fat diet (NO treats. At all) of max. 1400 calories a day. This kick-started it well, but wasn't sustainable long-term. Plateaued about 4 months in. Hence strategy change.

So typical day now wold be:
Wake up - 1 pint water, vitamin tablet
2 oatibix, 200ml skimmed milk, tablespoon honey
Apple
Medium banana
Lunch: 1/2 bag salad, 150g lean cooked (ham/turkey/beef), boiled egg, tomato, balsamic vinegar
1 pint water
3 cups tea
1 can diet coke
2 digestive biscuits (if being bad)
Gym 1.25-1.5 hours (30 min cardio + 45 min resistance/30 min extra cardio + stretching)
1 litre water
Snack on train: handful nuts or dried fruit
Dinner: Other 1/2 bag salad, 1/5 big pot of extra low fat cottage cheese, another 150g meat, 2 tomatoes, chutney, red wine vinegar
2 squares dark choc 85% cocoa solids
Maybe a little banana if still peckish (but not if had digestives earlier in day)
1 pint no added sugar squash

So - a LOT of stuff throughout the day. Satisfies my need to graze and have lots of flavour.

I know this is turning into an essay. But I felt the need to condition the holier than thou crap above with the fact that I had some shit news at work today (my biggest and most beloved client - I'm in advertising): due to a change in the parent company management they want to put the account out to pitch, and it's not looking good for us (20% of agency income from them alone). I am sitting here drinking a whole bottle of white wine to myself, eating a bag of crisps and one of those tasting blocks of cathedral city extra mature. I even skipped the gym.

Fuck. It. Grin

Undertone · 19/11/2010 20:40

Slobba - can you listen by double-clicking the file saved on your computer? Does the audio file just open?

Dandy - I will give you ANYTHING if you let me come on your holiday?

dinkystinky · 19/11/2010 20:41

Oh Undertone- that's crap news about your client. Fingers crossed the great job you guys have been doing for the past few years will count in your favour. Enjoy that wine, crisps and cheese combo - you'll be back in the zone tomorrow.

Undertone · 19/11/2010 20:53

Thanks dinky . Will be hard to zone tomorrow due to Dbro's comedy mid-winter BBQ, but am planning not to drink at all so I can face uber run on Sunday. Will have to psych myself up for Monday as the pitch presentation is in two weeks and we will have to have four campaigns ready by then, and the creative department is already in Diva meltdown because of a different new business pitch in with the same deadline.

In other news - an old boss has been in touch and has asked me to send them my CV...

Slobbadan · 19/11/2010 20:58

Undertone - sorry what i mean is, when i done load it how do i listen to it on a run?

Undertone · 19/11/2010 21:08

Do you have an mp3 player doodad - not necessarily an iphone - like an ipod or summat? I think that's the only way it's possible to take it with you on a run.

Slobbadan · 19/11/2010 21:49

Ah i see, so if i get an MP3 player and download this to my comp, i can then some how upload it onto the mp3 player?..... Now to purchase the MP3.

I drop my DC2 off at playgroup 3 afternoons a week so i could do the Couch to 5k then as there is a day between session as it mon wed and fri! i feel a plan fromulating.

Undertone · 19/11/2010 22:14

Fromulating! my word. that sounds serious. Smile

this bad boy looks doable and reasonable

Slobbadan · 20/11/2010 08:15

that looks fab, but i have since decided that i will wait till spring when the ice/snow hazzereds are firmly behind us, its really not an excuse as i think that if i do it now i will get into a groove and then have to stop and also i know i will not want to run if its cold and windy which it is now. Will stick to yoga and shredding that can be done in the comfort of my home, rain/snow/wind or not!

iluvcake · 20/11/2010 17:10

DandyLioness, you lucky lucky person you-escaping to a hot tropical island .

A typical day for me dietwise would be:-

Breakfast:- Porridge made with half water/half skimmed milk; Chopped banana or berries or dried apricots/ground flaxseed/chopped almonds on top/cup of coffee;
Snack-satsuma or dried apricots and a few almonds or two small oatcakes with teaspoon of peanut butter;
Lunch:- Slice rye bread/flakes of hot smoked salmon/a few chopped olives/chopped peppers and tomatoes and a low fat yoghurt if still hungry;
Snack:- As above
Dinner:- Usually a low fat stew/salmon steak/chicken but with veg instead of potatoes/rice etc. (Trying to stay low/no carb in evening.

Drinking 1-1half litres of water (don't always manage this every day), fruit teas and 2-3 cups of coffee but trying to cut this down to 1-2 as got a bit shaky last week. Would like to start with hot water and lemon in the morning but I kind of need my caffeine fix first thing.

Exercise:- Shred dvd every day/Pilates once a week/Bootcamp class once a week

Looking at the above, wondering if I'm actually eating too much? Not sure if I could survive on less than thisHmm.

Undertone, God, that sounds really stressful. Think you deserved that wine! How are you feeling today? Are you back on track?

I have been lost in biffinghell. On Friday, inhaled a packet of oreos and barely came up for air from my nosebag all day. Went out last night and had burger, chips and onions rings, followed by sticky toffee pudding and custard. Thought I was going to burst at bedtime. Was in so much pain. Not been good today either. Am going to give myself tonight off, then get back in the zone tomorrow (I hope!) If I don't, I will be on here begging for help (and a good slap).

Slobbadan · 21/11/2010 07:54

Been on scales this morning because i cant help myself! and apear to had lost a lb! So im happy. esp if it stays off.

Been good so far, where as normally i have a major biff on a friday that snowballs to monday and then i have not lost so im still positive and on track for a decent loss this week i hope.

Shaxx · 21/11/2010 11:33

Hi.Can I join this thread please? (the one I was on seems to have gone v. quiet!)

I'm renewing my efforts to try to lose 1.5 stones. At the moment I'd be very happy to lose 5lbs in the next 3 weeks just to get my clothes a bit looser.

I go to the gym regularly and am starting back on Shred but its food I have an issue with.

I think I need to properly cut out bread and sugar as they seem to be my triggers to over eat. Its really difficult though as I love those things so much.

I'm going to try the following for this daily for this week;
Eat 3 portions of fruit
Eat 3 portions of veg
Eat lean protein (inc dairy) at every meal
Drink a glass of water every hr
Exercise for 30mins
Go to bed at 10.30!
