dinkystinky · 27/10/2010 11:13

Wotcha NannyPats - your name made me laugh out loud! Hope all good with you and good to know Bobbie is alive and kicking (albeit in a different incarnation)

encyclogirl · 27/10/2010 15:32

I'm drinking a lovely yummy Twinings Blackberry and Nettle tea. Not too dissimiliar from hot Ribena minus the sugar.

Would that be a better option Cake?

I bought it in Tescos

iluvcake · 27/10/2010 17:47

Hi everyone.

Better today but still not great. We are away tomorrow for a two night stay in a hotel and then going to MIL for the weekend.

I'm feeling ok and pretty positive but I don't feel like my head is "in the zone" because I know I'm going to be away from home with all the temptations that brings.

I'm going to do my best and I'm looking forward to next week when my routine is back to normal.

Won't be posting a weight on friday as away but good luck everyone!!

NannyPatsSausagePlait · 27/10/2010 17:47

Yes dinky all is fine with me. Managing to keep at a reasonably acceptable weight for me! (More than at my 40th but that was exceptional circumstances)

Is everyone happy and healthy on here?

iluvcake · 27/10/2010 17:48

Oh and thanks dinky and encyclogirl for the tips re measurements and the tea. Will have a look for some drinks options while I am away.

DukesOfTripHazard · 27/10/2010 20:43

Hello Dinky NannyCyb and everyone. Haven't looked on here for weeks but my (goal weight) jeans are straining at the waist and it's time to halt the re-biffing. It was fun for a while, gorging and feeling like the weight was never going to show back up but two family birthdays and I'm busting out all over.

Cyb I'm impressed you've kept it mostly off.

Will weigh in, sign up, plonk my lardy arse on the bench ready to get back in the game.

I was my goal of 9 and a half stone (from 10 10) from about.... June? Not sure how bad the slippage is but will confess.

I like the sound of the blackberry and nettle tea by the way.

NannyPatsSausagePlait · 27/10/2010 20:53

Ah, Dukes, i namechecked you in a thread title the other day and no response so assumed you must have been off the radar for a bit...

I ahvent kept it ALL off- put on about 5 lbs ish...

dinkystinky · 28/10/2010 10:46

Ah but NannyPats from memory you're some kind of Amazon arent you so 5lbs on a tall frame barely shows my friend Wink

Dukes - lovely to see you and welcome back. Now is a good time to focus on the weight so you can look all svelte and slinky in time for that C-word time of year

Iluv - enjoy your time away, just try to make sensible choices and dont go too crazy biffing and bet you'll be surprised at how little difference being away makes to your weight.

encyclogirl · 28/10/2010 11:09

Hi Nanny and Dukes :)

I'm a recent addition to this thread, been working on losing a stone and a bit. Nearly there. This thread has been blardy invalueable!

Cake, what Dinky said, enjoy the break!

Where Buda and Guitargirl?

DukesOfTripHazard · 28/10/2010 11:23

Nanny - found it!

Have put on four pounds (of cake). Doesn't sound much but it really shows.

dinkystinky · 29/10/2010 11:27

Delighted to report a 3 and a bit pound loss this week - now 10 stone 2lbs and within striking distance of goal. Now just have to keep the faith to get there...

encyclogirl · 29/10/2010 22:21

Fantastic Dinky!!! That's huge!! I'm now 9'8" half a pound this week, which is a bit...meh, but only 4lbs to go.

Anyone else?

Guitargirl · 30/10/2010 08:41

Hi everyone, haven't been around this week. Have been away for half-term and eating has all gone to pot. I forced myself to weigh yesterday knowing it would be bad. And it is: a 5lb gain. Right, I am back in the zone from today. It has to stop.

DP is struggling badly with MIL's diagnosis and my head is all over the place. Overeating just makes me feel worse though! So, right, from today back on track!!

Very well done to encyclo, dinky and the other losers!

encyclogirl · 01/11/2010 15:15

Happy Monday everyone. Trying to chivvy this thread along...

How did we all survive the 'Trick or Treat' torture? We have so much crap in the house, it's just horrifying! Gave out loads of crap, however, ds brought home a further ton of it from his exploits!

Manfully avoiding it so far....

justaminute · 02/11/2010 10:04

why do weeks off go so fast? I've only been back at work an hour and already I'm bored. Despite thinking I'd been good last week the scales went in the worng direction +1 lb here. ( I weigh on Mondays - a good result on a Friday would lead me to slip into biffing ways over the weekend)

It's going to be a tough week this week - it's ds's birthday on Saturday - lots of baking to be done - will have to be strong not to test it.

Dinky - seriously well done on your weight loss - that is over 2% of your body weight in a week....spot the accountant Smile

dinkystinky · 02/11/2010 13:17

Guitargirl - be kind to yourself. If overeating makes you feel worse, dont - but recognise that you're going through a difficult time and let yourself have a glass of wine/treat/whatever you need ot get through each day.

Encyclogirl - am allowing myself one small treat a day. Though DS1 and DS2's trick or treat stuff is generally stuff I dont like so not too tempted here.

Thanks Justaminute - my weightloss journey goes like that, nothing really for ages then a big jump. Just need to keep it moving in the right direction now. Re weigh in remember that 1lb could just be water retention. Drink lots of water and keep on the straight and narrow as much as possible and bet you'll have lost that by Friday.

iluvcake · 02/11/2010 16:30

Hi everyone. Well done on your fab loss dinky Smile.

Guitargirl-how are you getting on?

Trip away went well and I didn't do too badly and went on a 13 mile bike ride. Sadly, it all went to pot on saturday at MIL with cakes, pudding and chocolate biscuits. Since then I have overeaten and had at least one can of diet coke per day and my middle area feels so bloated. I'm over ten stone again.

I really need to keep posting because I can feel myself becoming despondent. I feel as if nothing will ever work and I am destined to always be addicted to sugar. This is my pattern, good for a while, enthusiastic, then I start with small amounts of biffing which leads to large scale biffing.

Despite all this, the posts on here make me think "eventually I will crack this". Was it encyclogirl that said it took a year for her to get into the zone?? Just doing WW was not giving me the motivation but knowing that you are all here is.

Is Buda still there somewhere?

BudaisintheZONE · 02/11/2010 18:45

I'm here! We have been away for half term. Busy busy week at our new house in Somerset meeting window men, architects, builders, going to see kitchens, drawing the kitchen, drawing the island unit, drawing the utility room, shopping, etc etc etc. And eating. And drinking. LOTS of bread. My downfall. I did manage porridge with blueberries and almonds a couple of mornings but then caved on DH's morning offer of bacon sandwiches the other days.

So got back late last night and let myself have today to get my head around weighing and starting again. Tomorrow I will weigh in and face the music. And start again. I have been really bad for last few months really. Losing and gaining the same 3 pounds I think. So a concerted effort to lose at least 10 pounds by Xmas. A stone would be ideal but not sure I could do that. So aiming for 10 pounds with anything extra a bonus.

Will be starting tomorrow with a weigh in and 20 mins on cross trainer.

Glad to see you are all still here and still battling on. Good to see 'old' faces too!

Guitargirl · 03/11/2010 07:34

Hi everyone, dinky - thanks for the support! Smile

It's all hideous here - I am putting on weight like nobody's business. BUT I think now my head is where it should be! Biffing stops from today!!

I went for a smear test yesterday (lovely!) and I was dreading the nurse weighing me. Kept eyeing the scales and it suddenly hit me that this is ridiculous and being so overweight is NOT how I wish to live my life anymore. Am still hoping to be in a nice dress by cousin's wedding in January!

iluvcake - have dithered with joining WW - a few women at work have done well with it but when I see them eating lunch with their little books in hand it just looks so depressing...!

Right, am off to battle my way to work through the tube strike madness...

BudaisintheZONE · 03/11/2010 09:06

Good luck out there Guitargirl! I remember working in London and having to battle through previous strikes. Nightmare.

I have toyed with the WW idea lately too. Just waiting till they launch the new plan. My bugbear with it of old is that you can exist on crap but once you don't go over your points you are ok. And that doesn't make sense. Or lead to realistic changes in eating. SO I am looking forward to the new plan which from what I have read will emphasise more the "what" you eat aspect.

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 03/11/2010 09:09

Guitargirl - good on you, you've reached the tipping point and you WILL see change now. I got into work using my usual route on the tube today - and it was far less crowded than usual. Hope your journey in is equally hassle free.

Wow Buda, sounds like you've been v busy indeed! I agree that with WW you need to look at what you eat within your points - the recipe finder on the WW website is quite good for giving ideas of healthy low point meal ideas (and esp good for soups) - so it needs to be a mindset change as well as a weight loss effort.

Guitargirl · 03/11/2010 17:08

The thing that attracts me to the WW thing is that, from what I see with the women at work, the weight loss is nothing dramatic - pound a week or something - but over a year that's a lot of pounds!! And they seem to be sticking to it.

The problem I have is that in order to keep motivated I need to aim for 3 pounds a week - get bored otherwise and give up!

Journey to work absolutely fine, got usual train and then 40 minute walk but then have been doing that anyway in my need to up exercise.

Did see a LOT of red faces puffing their way on bikes across London Bridge...!

I have done ok today: branflakes for breakfast, chicken and hummus for lunch and have pasta sauce planned for dinner.

dinkystinky · 04/11/2010 12:37

Guitargirl - can you motivate yourself by treats. Eg. when you hit 2lb loss, treat yourself to something nice (new magazine, long bath, pedicure), hit 4lb loss - new haircut, 7lb loss - new item of clothing, etc. That is a great way to motivate yourself if you need goals to aim towards - and a nice way to be nice to yourself too and reward yourself for your hard work Smile.

BudaisintheZONE · 04/11/2010 12:52

Hello!

Lunch was 2 slices rye bread - one with cheese and one with sardines
Snack - a spelt cracker with hummus
Dinner - veg and lentil stew
Snack - some healthy tortilla things with salsa and an apple
Handful of peanuts as was craving something salty/snacky

Today so far:

Breakfast - porridge with fruit puree
A banana
Lunch - tortilla chips (healthy ones) with hummus and an orange
