Fabulous news Poirot. I'm hoping for a slight weight loss but I'd be happy with a staying the same after the last couple of weeks. I'm back on track with food now although it's been hard today as I did my first non-patch day. I got through it though within my calorie allowance though so fingers crossed this is the first of many healthy days.

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/04/2011 19:13

Congrats on your first non-patch day and within your calorie allowance. I am seriously VERY impressed! I on the other hand have eaten about a whole cow, whole lamb and half a pig I think this weekend from the BBQ... we will see....

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 11/04/2011 06:53

calorie tracker

I'm finding this so helpful

MrsHerculePoirot · 12/04/2011 09:18

Woohoo - 15 st 6 (my heaviest ever was 17 st 10, and this time around about 17 st 6). I am pleased with that! I hope the weather stays sunny, I had forgot how much I like a salad and with DD who is now eating what we eat I am trying to make a real effort (and not stuff my face with the 'bad' stuff when she is asleep!!!).

How is everyone else doing...?

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 12/04/2011 12:35

I've had no weight loss in the last 2 weeks but as I could very easily have put loads on I'm happy.

Congrats on your weight loss - that's incredible! Well done Smile

Iloveshoes001 · 12/04/2011 13:35

Hi ladies. I just lost 40lbs having been 2.5 stone over weight for 20 years. Woo Hoo! Grin Just wanted to tell you that it IS possible. I spent 20 years yo-yoing between 11 & 13 stone (must have lost about 40 stone over the years) but never kept it off... This time was different. I just woke up one day and decided my life was actually pretty easy. Compared to some poor souls, stuck in some warzone with no homes and god knows what else to deal with, a little boredom, discomfort and mild hunger was pretty easy and should be ignored... So I've spent the past 8 weeks working my ass off at the gym (5 days a week including 3 times a week doing the fantastic Body Pump) and eating healthy food (interesting salads, light meals - nothing mad). The combination of more exercise, less food and the body pump buulding muscle which boosts your metabolism did it.... Can't quite believe it after years telling myself it would never work... but it has. I am now the same weight I was when I was 17. So, think positive, focus on how fab you'll look and feel when you hit that perfect weight and believe you can do it. Good luck!

MrsHerculePoirot · 12/04/2011 18:36

Thanks Gilbon - with the giving up smoking I think you've done amazingly to stay the same!

I found some clothes in a wardrobe today I forgot I had - I had missed wearing one pair of trousers completely! The others I am wearing today, but keep falling down and I found a whole load of tops that I can fit into and are summery (which is why I left them in there I think!!!) so that was quite exciting (and will probably save me some £s).

Iloveshoes001 · 12/04/2011 19:23

Congratulations. Can't beat getting into "new" old clothes.

QueenStromba · 14/04/2011 17:04

Hi everyone, another newbie to the thread here. I weighed myself on Sunday evening to find that I was exactly 15 stone which means I've put on more than 4 stone in just over a year and I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I'm not a fan of sweet things so I'm doing low carb since that means I can still eat all of the nice stuff. I think people don't realise the amount of calories in carbs - if you have a poached egg, two bits of lean bacon and two slices of toast then the toast is half the calories but most people would eat it without even thinking about it. I've also gone tee total but might allow myself a couple of vodka and sodas one night a week. I was actually thinking of throwing the towel in on the low carb and switching to low GI and medium carb because I've been having the fatigue and headaches that you normally get in the beginning, but I've already lost 5 pounds. I'm going to stick with it for another week and if I still feel like crap then I'll introduce a small amount of low GI carbs.

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 17/04/2011 07:24

Hi Queen, welcome Smile

I've been doing low carb for a while. I had cut out all white carbs (pots, pasta, rice, bread, flour, etc) but my doctor told me that was the worst thing I could do to lose weight as my body needed to be trained to cope with a small amount of most things. I react badly to carbs (PCOS/IBS) so I only have a token amount and I can't eat pasta at all. I don't know if my doctors advice is for everyone or because I have a strange body!! It may also be because I live in France and they do things differently over here.

Anyway, I've lost 1 kg this week which I'm really happy about as I've just started using MFP and am now eating more than ever to get to my calorie allowance. i'm doing at least 30 mins of exercise everyday as well and it's really paying off as where I've lost weight is now toning up instead of being saggy skin. i'm also still not smoking and coping quite well with it.

how's everyone else doing? It's gone very quiet here!

MrsHerculePoirot · 17/04/2011 10:36

I am still here - will report back after my weigh in the morning. Not holding out much hope though, I have been proper rubbish the last couple of days....

aristocat · 17/04/2011 16:36

i am still here too ....... have been on holiday to North Wales last week and eaten far too much pizza and other yummy things
still hidden under the washing pile so i will return soon Smile

MrsHerculePoirot · 19/04/2011 21:39

Well I finally got on the scales and stayed the same as last week... just need to negotiate the two long weekends now!

On a positive note I have been stressing about what to wear to a wedding the weekend after next and found an outfit I wore to a summery wedding about 6 years ago which I can get back into! Even better, I found a new top to go with it, that I had ordered online, that looked awful on me and I never got round to sending back - it now fits and looks nice with the skirt so prob going to wear that!

Hi Queen! How are you getting on this week? I lost a lot of weight doing atkins/low carb about 7 years ago and found it ok for the short term for losing weight. Although I wouldn't be that extreme again, it certainly taught me how little carbs I needed if that makes sense - I do now try to follow the thing where you make a fist and have that amount of carbs, same amount of protein and the rest veg if that makes sense.

I have however stuffed my face with a chinese take away today as DH is away for the week... oh dear.

You still out there Silver? Come back...

aristocat · 30/04/2011 16:02

hi ladies ..... well i am a size 14 and TBH happy with that. i have an appointment with my GP in 2 wks and will tell him so.

a few lbs more/perhaps a stone would be nice to lose but i am eating healthier and exercising more than i ever have done.

hope everyone else is OK and enjoying the warmer weather Smile

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/05/2011 19:25

Woohoo - a size 14 is fantastic! I am still hovering around the size 18 mark. I have been a bit rubbish and a bit of a snack monster, but have only put on 2 lbs and with two bank holidays and my BIL wedding I have decided that was fine! Having got all the pictures back, I can see I have lost weight, but I can also see I have a LOT to go still so would like another little burst between now and the summer holidays.

I have been cooking lots more at home and Imogen (17 months) is really starting to wolf it all down - which makes me proud of myself for cooking something 'good' and makes me want to do more!

I have healthy dinner planned for tomorrow too and then will plan for Thurs until Sunday after that - I'm going half a week at a time which I am finding manageable at the moment.

Hope everyone else is OK - weather is lovely!

moominmad · 11/05/2011 12:27

hope everyone is okay,

lost 11.5lbs in 3 weeks :)

just 9 stone to go

MrsHerculePoirot · 11/05/2011 19:07

Well done moominmad - that is a fab effort! Any tips?!?

moominmad · 12/05/2011 09:02

thanks , I', on WW
drink water whilst preparing meals, keeps picky fingers at bay

try a protein brekkie rather than a carb one I.e poached eggs

stope eating after a certain time. like 7 pm

aristocat · 13/05/2011 13:03

well done moominmad thats brilliant Smile

i went to my GP yesterday for my poorly knee and weigh in ..... and i have only lost 1kg since my last visit TBH i am not really trying hard ATM and wish to lose one more stone so must try harder
hope everyone is well

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 14/05/2011 11:15

Hello!

Stupid nob-head of the year award goes toooooooo......

GILBONZO!!!!

Why do I never learn that if I'm doing well, then get complacent and eat shit I will put it all back on again???? Ooo I could slap myself til I'm raw.

Anyway, I now need to work off 2kg that I've worked my butt off to lose already. Serves me right.

aristocat · 14/05/2011 13:32

never mind - gilbonzo 2kg is not much, a few weeks being strict with yourself and all will be good again.
whispers

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 14/05/2011 13:46

Got it in one!!! You break a bit off to give to the kids, you can never ever get the foil back round it so you pop it in your mouth for the sake of tidiness. Stupid bloody eggs. Oh, and the worcester sauce Walker's french fries I bought when I was in the UK last week. They're only 83 kcals a pack but apparently, if you eat 3 packs you get 3 times the kcals!! It doesn't say that on the packet does it??????

Disclaimer: I know that it is obvious that eating 3 of something will triple the kcals but I can be dim sometimes.

aristocat · 14/05/2011 14:07

gilbon my downfall are Walkers Sensations crisps. i used to eat a big packet and have now downsized to a small one - they are 194 cals ::closes eyes::

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 14/05/2011 14:26

I just go a bit mad when I go back to the UK because you can't get all the yummy crapiness out here.

We should storm the Walker's factories and demand they remove all calories before letting the products leave. Either that or don't make them taste so nice. Although thinking about it, removing the calories will probably remove the taste......

MrsHerculePoirot · 20/05/2011 09:42

Ah, Gilbon you have to feel for us that live here all the time then! I was doing so much better and have had an AWFUL week. I binged on two packets of chocolates from thorntons yesterday for no reason whatsoever and had a whole tube of pringles the night before. I think I've been building up to this really and hope now I can get back to doing what I was doing before and start losing again...
