Well just been to weigh in and gave put half a pound on in past fortnight. Not happy cos thought I'd lost a little but not too bad (especially considering last week I pretended to go to ww - so my parents wouldn't be disappointed in me Blush - and went to the garage instead and bought three lindt choc eggs and ate them Blush Blush).

Anyway, back on track since Monday and all going well for now.

Hope everyone else is doing ok and avoiding the dreaded evening snacking!

HerculesPoirot · 17/02/2011 19:52

Half a lb, is like staying the same, so hopefully next week you'll see the difference. Do you know what though, before this thread I thought I was the only one who did the sort of thing you just described silver. I've not been too bad this week, until today, but I have got sensible food for the rest of the week/weekend. Today though I ate a massive bag of onion ring crisps and a pot of coronation chicken sandwich filler.... just as snacks...

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 18/02/2011 18:00

I seem to have developed a bad habit of not being able to eat during the day but stuffing myself with crap in the evenings. Dh got home from 2 weeks away today so I'm hoping that will sort me out as I will be embarrassed to eat the crap in front of him and I think it was a boredom thing. I don't know what to do about the day eating though. It's like my throat closes up as soon as I think about food. I can eat if I'm distracted but as soon as I think about it I have to stop. Not the healthiest way to live!

silver28 · 19/02/2011 08:11

You have my sympathies gilbonzo. I have phases a bit like this - nit that I can't eat during day, but I go find I can exercise will power and eat little/sensibly but then it all goes to pot in the evening. I sometimes think I should eat more firing day, or allow small treats, so I fell less hungry/deprived and less likely to cave in later on.

At the moment I keep taking two steps forward and one back (better than the other way round I suppose). I can be gods for a few days max, then I stuff myself with all sorts of crap. Been good all week then yesterday went to asda on way home ft

silver28 · 19/02/2011 08:18

Oops, posted too soon...

Anyway, went to asda in way home from work and got a choc bar, family size bag of smarties and two cupcakes Blush. Luckily I only ate one cupcake and half the bag of smarties (made mr feel sick to be honest) before I chucked the rest away (couldn't take it home CID couldn't let DH know what I'd done Blush). So I gelt like crap, didn't enjoy it, and set myself back AGAIN. I just font know what takes over me when I do this.

And I have an extra motivation to lose weight. My v close friend seems likely to get engaged this year and she said the other night she'd have me as her bridesmaid if she ever got married. So I an thrilled! But also terrified at the thought of looking like a heffalump and ruining her wedding pictures Smile. So yet another reason to lose weight.

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 19/02/2011 14:15

Oh silver, I'm so with you there - binge eating seems to happen without me having any control over it!! I'm my future SIL's bridesmaid in September and I'm desperate to look ok. I'm down to a large 14/small 16 now but I have so far to go and every time I eat crap I feel like I've set myself back by a week. I do my own head in!!

HerculesPoirot · 19/02/2011 22:39

I know it is so frustrating. Dh been away for week, bought me back 5 bars of toblerone (the ones with about 12 triangles in, small ish). There is 1 left. Dh had equivalent of 1 so i've had three. I have been trying just not to buy anything like that as I seem to either have nothing or go crazy and binge. I'd like to think that in the future I could have chocolate in the house and eat a few pieces a day or something, same with crisps tbh, but I just don't think i'll ever be able to do it.

On the positive side i've finally got to the stage of cooking healthy meals all home cooked for dd and hence us, so going to try to 'binge' on fruit and make some more ice lollies with fruit juice and diet lemonade as they are sweet and take a while to eat and worked for me a while back.

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 20/02/2011 09:31

I've got into a pair of trousers that have NEVER done up before!! Admittedly I have magic pants on but still....good for the self esteeme! I also wanted to say thank you to everyone on this thread. It's been so nice to realise after 15 years of diets/binges that I'm not the only one. I've berated myself for years for the way I am and to know that I'm not alone is one of the best feelings in the world. Thank you. x

HerculesPoirot · 20/02/2011 10:56

Woohoo gilbon! That's brilliant.

I also thought it was just me, and I think that makes it worse as you sort of do it secretly, which makes yo feel worse and then you do it more, like a viscious cycle.

I was the same this morning, so hopefully I can be the same tomorrow, ready for the week ahead!

Silver, meant to say the fact that you didn't eat it all and threw it away is good, I am sure it hasn't set you back as much as you think. You've been doing so well - have you been tracking still out of interest, I keep saying it, but I really should start tracking.

silver28 · 20/02/2011 11:58

Well done gilbon, that's great news and a real boost for you.

And hi Hercules, glad to hear you're doing well and good luck for the wel ahead. And no, I haven't been tracking but do intend to from tomorrow as I've been so up and down since I stopped tracking at Xmas.

I agree with both of you. It's s big help to know I'm not the only one who binges and eats in secret. of course I do know there must be other people who did it, but it's such a shameful and horrible thing that I can't talk about it in real life, so it's nice to 'talk' to other people who understand on here. I am far more honest on here than I could be with my closest friends. And I couldn't even begin to tell my family any if this stuff.

Anyway, thank you to everyone who has read and commented on my self indulgent posts and for the support I've received. I do really appreciate it Smile

HerculesPoirot · 20/02/2011 22:35

Guess what? I've been swimming tonight. First time i've used my gym membership for yolks other than to get m hair cut or take dd to the soft play! I did 32 lengths (800m) in a leisurely breast stroke. I will hopefully get back up to 40 (1km) in the same 30 mins time soon. I'm also going for a walk tomorrow with dd in the backpack so hopefully that will be a bit of exercise too.

HerculesPoirot · 20/02/2011 22:36

Yonks obviously not yolks!

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 21/02/2011 14:36

Congrats on the swimming Poirot. I love swimming but I don't have the guts to get into swimming costume yet!

I've just weighed myself and I've lost another 1.5kg in the last 2 weeks which I'm gobsmacked at as I haven't done any exercise for the last week until today. I have another week until I go back to the UK for a visit so I'm hoping to work my butt off (literally!) in the next few days and get rid of another kilo before I see friends/family.

aristocat · 21/02/2011 20:01

well done on the swimming Herc as i have said before it has helped me enormously.

MrsHerculePoirot · 21/02/2011 20:06

Thanks! I had actually put on 3/4 lb last week so need to be v good this week... I did go for a walk today with DD in the backpack on the common with some friends - we walked for about an hour so that must count a little bit. Just eaten a lovely healty stir fry for dinner with left over (yes - left over!) beef from yesterday. I don't think there is anything 'naughty' in the house so going to have an early night and read our books in bed to prevent coercing each other to go and get chocolate!!!

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 23/02/2011 16:07

Well, I can highly recommend Davina Mcall's 30 minute workout dvd. I did it yesterday for the first time in a year and really felt it. Then this morning I could hardly move but it was so worth it as DH said, "Ooooo, you're looking very slim this morning" !!!!! Instant results!! (Although it may be a day or 2 before my muscles can face it again Grin)

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/02/2011 19:40

Ooooh, I have that I think, still in the wrapper from about three years ago!! Perhaps i'll unwrap it and give it a go...

aristocat · 23/02/2011 20:33

hi girls ..... i am having hamster trouble ATM

glad you are all doing well, keep up the good work Smile

amiheartless · 24/02/2011 14:36

BUMP saw this fancied making a thread similar

I need to loose like 10 stone, i'm currently like a *whispers 20-22

good luck everyone !!!!!!

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 24/02/2011 16:05

Hello ami!

I did Davina (ooer!) again today and it wasn't as bad as Tuesday's attempt so fingers crossed I'll be able to walk in the morning this time! I haven't weighed myself again but going by clothes it seems to be coming off.

How's everyone else doing? How are the hamsters aristo?

MrsHerculePoirot · 24/02/2011 18:21

Blimey aristo that is a LOT of hamsters...

Well done on davina gilbon.

Hi ami, come join us, you've come to the right place!

I am doing right proper rubbish this week. Dd has an unidentified rash, probably viral rash, but we have had to stay at home just in case it is contagious, so all my lovely half term plans are over and I,ve eaten rubbish rubbish rubbish...

aristocat · 24/02/2011 19:41

well hamsters are fine, its me who is stressed Grin
there are 10 newborns and 5 three week old pups as well as mom and dad obviously .......
the 3wk olds can be rehomed next w/end

going to try harder with my eating - as its difficult with my DCs here during school hols

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 25/02/2011 20:46

I'm so pleased that I did an hour of Davina today as dh surprised me by arranging babysitters and taking me out for an anniversary meal. I had no idea it was going to happen to the point that our friends turned up to babysit as I was cooking dinner. We had the best meal but I suspect the calories were HUGE! Still, it was worth it to get such a fab surprise - who knew he had it in him to organise something without any hints Grin

MrsHerculePoirot · 28/02/2011 19:14

Wow, what a lovely surprise gilbon! I am v impresses with your dh's organising skills!

Had a difficult week last week as dd had an unknown rash, had to go back to doctor's today and finally she's been given the all clear so I can go out the house again. The most annoying thing is I teach and last week was half term with loads planned that we couldn't do. Even more annoying was that she was basically fine other than the rash, so we went stir crazy!

Anyway, I forgot to weigh in this mornin so did it after lunch and weighed the same, so hopefully that means a slight loss really and all the more to come off next week. I had been really, very good today, then I found a half eaten chocolate advent calendar and ate the last 20 chocolates from it. Hmmmmm, they were only small, but even so...

MrsHerculePoirot · 01/03/2011 20:24

Wooooooohoooooo! I finally broke past my plateau point! I lost 2 lbs last week when I weighed this morning so am now 15 stone 8.5... I am very excited about that!
