Well said Hercules (and well done on the weight loss)

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 19/03/2011 18:42

hi ladies may i join you.

im 22, mum of 2 and need to loose ATLEAST 10stone, its so daunting, i started sw 2 days ago and have started walking, im waiting on a gp appointment about a gym membership as moneys tight, but im motivated and eager to slim down!

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 20/03/2011 07:45

Hi Jj, welcome!

I've had a bad week and I've eaten too much crap. I'm back on it today though and have healthy meals planned for the week and exercise sessions planned. Fingers crossed this week hasn't set me back too much.

JaxTellersOldLady · 20/03/2011 10:56

morning all! Weighed myself on Friday and I was down 6lbs in a couple of weeks, so total loss was almost a stone and a half!

Went out on Friday evening, drank what I was allowed on my low carb = vodka and soda water, slice of lime.

However, the restaurant we went to was chinese and it was banquet style. I ate chicken satay, all the meat dishes, some prawns, as much veg as I could find, didnt eat the rice or noodle dishes and didnt have prawn crakcers and over all I did well - but I know I ate some carbs, I definitely did.

Today I feel awful, so will be back on track today ready for next week.

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 22/03/2011 18:08

Hello people, fab news Jax! I've been really good re food the last few days. I'm parenting myself by rewarding my good eating habits Grin. If I'm a good girl throughout the day then I get to have a chocolate mouse for pudding. If I'm not good then I get an apple - positive praise Grin!

I haven't been able to exercise this week though as my back decided to pretend to be broken and is now agony. Beautiful weather, dd at nursery after 3 weeks off and I can't even climb onto my bike - bugger!

How's everyone else doing?

JaxTellersOldLady · 22/03/2011 20:28

I have upped my walking lately, the dog is back to full health and I am walking the big boy and puppy seperately, which gives me twice the exercise!

I weighed myself this morning and have lost 1lb which is a miracle as I was out on Friday night and ate what everyone else had - but didnt have noodles or rice, it was a set banquet style menu at a chinese, much harder to low carb but I did a damn good job. I was also drinking, but didnt have wine, stuck to my vodka soda and lime!

Last week I had a terrible craving for crisps, but decided not to have any, DH went out and bought some and brought me salt and vinegar peanuts which i had a handful of, and that sorted out my craving.

well done Jax thats superb!

i am also being good this week as i have a GP app on thursday and i hope to have lost a few more lbs than my last visit. TBH i am finding it tough at the moment Sad probably because i feel good as i am - but still wish to lose more (not sure i can explain much better Confused)

i am liking the larger message box .......

aristocat · 24/03/2011 14:37

hi all - i have lost another 4lb since my last GP visit and have rewarded myself with a slice of carrot cake - mmmmmm its very nice Blush

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 24/03/2011 19:08

Fantastic aristo! I'm hoping weight loss will help my knee pain and help me avoid an op so you're very inspirational!

I'm feeling so positive about weight loss at the moment. I think it's the weather making everything seem happier and more achievable. My future SIL sent me some pics of the bridesmaid dresses she wants us to wear. They are gorgeous but will look awful on me atm. Instead of flipping out and eating myself out of misery I made a plan of how much weight I can lose between now and Sept and (so far) am sticking with it. Fingers crossed this positive mood stays as DH has commented on how much happier and nicer to be with I am !!

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/03/2011 19:28

Well done Jax and Aristo! I put on half a lb when I weighed on Monday morning, but it had long gone by Wednesday morning so we shall see what next monday holds instead!

I got dh to pull out my two boxes of clothes I have in the loft that are nice but too small for me. I found a skirt I can now wear and lots of other nice things - lots of trousers which are about a cm off being wearable (well probably slightly more if I want to eat anything or sit down during the day!!!). The tops do all seem a bit further off fitting, I am not convinced that my breasts ever got smaller again after bfing... but maybe that's me making excuses!!! Anyway, lots of motivation as it will save me a fortune if I can get into them by after the easter holidays for work as loads of them are summery work clothes.

Gilbon, glad to hear you are feeling positive, it is amazing what a bit of sunshine can do isn't it! I had my flip flops on today!!!

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 25/03/2011 19:47

I might have chucked a bit of a spanner in the works with the whole positive attitude thing. I decided that while I was feeling like this then I should give up smoking once and for all. So, umm....miserable cow is here!! (sorry dh!)

How fab re the clothes Poirot. There's nothing better than getting into something that's defeated you! I agree with the boob thing. Mine were DD before children, went up to an HH while bfing and now are an H 2 years later. None of my lovely smaller tops fit me unless I want to go for the stretchmark/wonky belly button/flab overhang revealed look.

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/03/2011 20:23

Gilbon, go for it! Best thing I ever did. I 'stopped' a while back, but used to have the odd one here and there, then got pregnant and stopped completely. I've had three since having dd, none of which I enjoyed or finished and so now I haven't had one or wanted one for ages! I bet your dh would rather a grumpy you for a short while, and a non-smoking you for the long term!

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 28/03/2011 11:15

Well, I just weighed myself and I've put on 0.4 kg. I'm not upset though because I thought after the time in England and 4 days of not smoking (yes - I'm succeeding......so far) I would have put on much more than that. I'm trying to replace smoking with exercise which has meant 1.5 hrs of Davina dvds today.....knackered!

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 28/03/2011 11:18

Poirot, I stopped for both pregnancies but spent 8 months each time dreaming of my next fag. This time I'm trying to keep hold of the last few weeks of smoking when I didn't enjoy the taste or the coughing or the smell or the cost etc. So please keep telling me how yucky they are because I'm just starting to put on my rosey specs and remember how nice it was to sit in the sun and have a fag with a cold drink and a good book!

MrsHerculePoirot · 28/03/2011 19:32

oh no definitely yuck - I felt sick the last time I had one actually. Also although the other day I fancied one, the thought of theafter smell on my hands and clothes really puts me off. Wow though, four days is brilliant, definitely harder at the beginning. I also applied the ww rules of not letting a bad meal turn into a bd day idea so that if I did have a drink and have one or two, I then chucked the packet away and didn't 'just finish' the packet if you see what I mean.

I lost a 1lb so that was good, I am very happy with myself and have definitely decided that I put this weight on over years so slowly but surely is the way to go to get it off too...

aristocat · 29/03/2011 13:42

i am no help with smoking /non-smoking sorry.
we are non-smokers here, i tried it but just didnt like it ....... i do have a sore toe and needed chocolate to make it better yesterday though Grin
....... stubbed toe whilst swimming ........ need to be brave!!!

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 03/04/2011 21:05

I've kept up with the not smoking - 10 days now - but there is no way I'm going near a set of scales for a couple of weeks!

How's everyone else doing?

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/04/2011 21:21

gilbon, that is FANTASTIC news on the smoking, well done!!!!!

I was on a hen weekend this weekend, but only had about 2 drinks all weekend. Not sure that all the rubbish I stuffed down my face at every eating opportunity will have helped the weight though! I will weigh tomorrow morning though and face the music...!!!

aristocat · 04/04/2011 22:34

congrats from mee too gilbon you are doing super Smile

i ordered no chocolate or booze to be bought for Mothers Day to avoid temptation - however i did manage to eat chocolate biscuits and yorkshire pudding (only one) Blush back to being good now again ......

MrsHerculePoirot · 05/04/2011 19:57

Well I put on half a lb, so not bad for a hen weekend! Back to healthy eating for us too, shopping being delivered tonight...

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 07/04/2011 14:32

Thank you for my congrats - I'm hating it though. I miss my little thin stick like friends Sad.

Good news though is that I'm getting it all under control and I'm not feeling the need to snack when I have a craving anymore so the diet is back on. I've joined a site called MyFitnessPal which is a free food tracker type thing. It seems to be quite fab and there's another thread on MN that I've joined and everyone on the thread is friends with each other on the site so ther's lots of support - if you want to join us I'll link it on here. I won't be leaving this thread though because I love the support you guys give me Smile

MrsHerculePoirot · 08/04/2011 20:33

Ooh yes, do a link, that sound good...

Still fantastic news on the smoking, it is hard I think, but I promise you it does get better. It will get easier I promise you!

gilbonzothesecretpsychoduck · 08/04/2011 20:38

MyFitnessPal thread

I haven't craved a cigarette since first thing this morning which is amazing for me. I still miss it but I don't want it IYSWIM.

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/04/2011 09:24

Woohoo - that is a massive turning point! Of course you will have days/moments when you do want it again, but I found more and more the not wanting it took over. Will look at that thread in a moment.

I weighed this morning and have lost my hen weekend weight, plus a tiny bit more.. so hopefully this monday will be a good day!
