I’m also staying at 2.5mg as happy with weight loss, however, I’ve ordered a 5mg pen and extra needles so I can do half doses over 8 weeks, or swap to 5mg part way if I think I need to. Much cheaper overall

Ooh - clever - I may steal this idea. Do you count your clicks? Having said that, the provider i am using gives a discounted price only if you reorder within 35 days...

I’ve not done it yet as only just ordered the pen but yes the plan is to count clicks! I swapped provider completely as the new customer discount was better than staying with my current one. They were happy to prescribe 5mg once I provided proof of currently being on 2.5mg

@Eyelashesoffire Yes I've opted to stay on 2.5 mg for my second month as I lost 4.5 kg in the first month with only mild side-effects (audible but non-sulphurous burps). I'm sure the weight loss will slow down in month two but I only had a bit under two stone to lose (now one and a bit).

That's great to hear, I've got a similar amount to lose. I was always skinny until I had kids, then a ton of stress and a dodgy thyroid has just about destroyed that skinny person! I'm hoping that I can muddle along with 2.5mg, smaller portions and exercise and get into the healthy BMI slowly.

I generally don't eat too unhealthily but my off switch was a bit faulty and I didn't know when to stop, considering my slower metabolism.

I suspect I will need a long maintenance dose and a slow weaning off to really reset my appetite.

What I'm really loving is when it gets past a mealtime and I start to feel hungry, I calmly think 'ok I could eat soon, no rush', rather than before , where I'd feel PANIC STATIONS FEED ME NOW BEFORE I COLLAPSE!!! as I got near to a mealtime.

I always thought there was an emotional component to my weight but surely I would still overeat now if that was the case? Or is it more complicated? Does anyone know?

This is interesting! I like the sound of cheaper - I'm still getting my head round it all but I thought the pen was only ok to use within 30 days of first use?

Eyelashesoffire · 24/09/2026 15:19

And one last question - is anyone else ridiculously thirsty? I've always drunk a lot of water but I definitely feel thirstier.

You need to keep it in the fridge I think..the other problem is that some pharmacies ask that you re-order within a set window so if you're using a higher dose pen over a longer period you will end up building up stock in your fridge. If you don't reorder some pharmacies will make you restart from lower dose again. This isn't a problem for 2.5mg but it is when people are on higher doses. I'm also wanting to stay on 2.5mg for month two but considering ordering a 5mg pen in case the effects start wearing off. Currently I don't want more appetite suppression and have no side effects so it seems a good place to be.

Shedmistress · 24/09/2026 16:41

Second 2.5mg jab just taken. Lost 2.2kg so well happy with it so far. Only started to get an appetite back yesterday.

Yes this basically!

@Eyelashesoffire: “I always thought there was an emotional component to my weight but surely I would still overeat now if that was the case? Or is it more complicated? Does anyone know?”

I was a good athlete in my youth & did a lot of combat sports, so my trick when I started to put weight on during peri was to behave as though I was trying to make weight for a competition/tournament. What worked then no longer works now—I have to eat less as well as exercise more. Intense exercise alone isn’t enough (+ the martial artist’s trick of drinking very little water before weigh-in is unhealthy).

The MJ helps with the eating less part, and I’m continuing to exercise normally + drink loads of water (it does make you thirsty, sometimes I feel like I’m weeing for Britain TMI).

Hello. Can I join please? I had my first injection last night. So far so good. I’ve been extremely worried about side affects and I’m getting paranoid about every twinge I’m feeling so I’m definitely overthinking. It’s taken me a year to even get to this stage, so I’m very good at overthinking!!
Looking forward to hearing everyone’s experiences and hopefully success stories.

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 25/09/2026 20:24

Hi, can I join?

I’ve had my first pen sat in the fridge for two weeks now because I’m scared to start!

Worried about getting awful side effects for days on end…

InevitableDownwardSpiral · 25/09/2026 20:42

I also was really scared to start @ItMustBeBedtimeSurely - it took me weeks. I was worried about side effects too and knew I’d be hyper vigilant so I spent a couple of weeks logging my ‘symptoms’ (ie how I felt every day) before I started. It really helped because then I knew that sometimes I have a headache/stomach ache/bad nights sleep even when not on mounjaro.

I’m on my fourth week and honestly I feel great 😊

TeddyBeans · 25/09/2026 20:45

Now's the perfect time to take it if you're worried about side effects, late on Friday evening, going to bed soon, weekend to see if anything happens without the pressure of work in the morning (unless you don't work mon-fri)

As it is, personally, I haven't had any unpleasant side effects. Not as regular as I used to be but nothing unmanageable. No nausea or anything like that here

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 26/09/2026 08:17

Thank you for the reassurance! Wimped out last night ( and I always feel more anxious in the evenings) but I’m going to go it this morning.

InALonelyWorld · 26/09/2026 09:56

Took my 3rd jab last night & weigh in this morning says I've lost 0.5kg this week, so my total loss over the 2 weeks is 2.5kg.

Compared to my first week, I had a better experience with side effects this time. Just general nausea and headache around the time I needed to eat. I am still trying to increase fluids during the day as that is something I can struggle with but have been more mindful with food and exercised a lot more. I did think I would have lost a bit more this week because of that but I am happy with some loss all the same.

I think im going to stick with 0.25 and see how i get on for another month before deciding to move up a dose.

crumpetwithcheese · 26/09/2026 19:46

Just reading through the side effects posts and wandered if it might be better to take at night. I already take Sertraline at night to avoid the side effects but really not sure and can’t build up the courage to start!

TeddyBeans · 26/09/2026 21:13

I take mine in the evening because my mornings are so blooming hectic I wouldn't have time to fit it in! I don't think it's any less effective in the evening so try it once you've psyched yourself up for it 😊

^ this!

My friend has been on mounjaro for five months and when I asked her honest opinion she did say ‘sometimes I feel a bit shit on it but there were plenty of times before I started taking it where I felt a bit shit, I’m a 49 year old woman, it’s certainly no worse’.

SashaRose · 27/09/2026 09:37

I’ve lost 2lb in first week which I am happy with, it feels like I’ve naturally been able to eat within a calorie deficit without thinking about it.

I took mine at night and although I can feel my digestion is slower I’ve had no side effects as of yet. Looking forward to my next jab tonight!

Frenchlady14 · 27/09/2026 09:40

2nd Jab this afternoon and I'm down exactly 2 kilos - with my metabolism and age that is pretty amazing so I am well chuffed 🤗 Slightly nauseous for the first three mornings but didn't last and a bit headachey but then I always am - I am trying not to attribute the way I feel to the jab all the time as I can honestly say I don't feel bad at all after hyping myself up for big side effects!

Had wine Fri and Sat - a few glasses which gave me a bit of excess acid but nothing a rennie couldn't sort out. I'm pleased that I can still have a social life and not worry.

I like the fact that I can choose when and if to eat without feeling starving and can manage to eat about half or three quarters of what I usually did and leave the rest. That way I can have a little of what I really love like avocado and greek yoghurts and stuff without going overboard.

Very very happy and a happy Sunday to everyone x

AxisofEvelKnievel · 27/09/2026 11:10

Benefits of engineers in the house: partner reverse engineered the Eli Lilly injection pen so that I could use the “golden dose” everyone talks about. It was a full dose, not more & not less. Empty pen has now been disposed of (inside the 30 days as per instructions), and I’ve got my usual sensation of “gosh, that’s a lot of fluid”.

Feeling slightly smug that I’ve saved myself quite a bit of money on what looked like a significant initial outlay (£150.00 for four shots).

Eyelashesoffire · 27/09/2026 17:33

@SashaRose and @Frenchlady14 I'm also taking my second dose today, really glad that you're both getting on so well. I like dosing on a Sunday, I can feel it wearing off, which means that I can have a relatively normal weekend food and drink wise. I'm not eating normal size portions but I can join in with meals as usual.

I'm not having many side effects either. Though it's early days, hopefully it will continue.

@AxisofEvelKnievel that's great you've got an extra dose, can anyone do this? Or is it super complicated?

Eyelashesoffire · 27/09/2026 17:35

@crumpetwithcheese I take mine at night as I've got more time and if we're away at the weekend I'll definitely be back. I don't think it makes much difference.

I dithered for months before ordering my first pen, I was really worried about side effects. I think some effects are related to very fast weight loss so I'm aiming for slow and steady. Though I lost 6 pounds after 5 days so I need to eat a bit more I think!

Most people say they're happy they started and they wished they'd done it earlier.

Shedmistress · 27/09/2026 17:47

My main side effect is related to having had horrendous reflux for about 40 years so the issue for me is feeling sick after lying down. So I'm going to move my thursday late afternoon to Friday morning and then reduce food on friday day.

Much less this week so far but still a bit bleurgh friday and yesterday.
