Hi all,
Please may I join? I started on Sept 6th. I started with Wegovy and have one more jab left and then for my next batch I'm switching to Mounjaro.
I'm injecting every Monday so I've just used my third WG 0.25 and weighing in 'officially' on wednesdays.
SW Day Sept 6: 76.6kg (168.9 lbs)
Week 1 (Weds) Weigh in Sept 9: 75.9kg (167.3lbs)
Week 2 (Weds) Weigh in Sept 16th: 74.6kg (164.4lbs)
Week 3 (Weds) Weigh in Sept 34rd: 72.9kg (160.4 lbs)
GW 58-60kg (@130lbs).
Side effects / Experience so far:
Have been minimal. I've found weds/thurs is when I feel a bit 'blah' kind of hungover headache ish, or super mild nausea. I am not finding that I feel any different from food choices - i've been able to drink, eat sugary things or fatty things without feeling sick which I've heard is mean to happen but I've noticed the feeling fuller on smaller portions and definitely less cravings or 'food noise' around wanting to reach for sweet treats or to have an alcoholic drink. I've definitely cut down my drinking and snacking on quick fix cookies/sweets as a result which is was one of my main motivations for doing this.
My why.
Over the summer I noticed with the crazy heat I was exercising far less and tending to drink much more regularly - a glass of rose was becoming a kind of daily 'end of the day' marker and I didn't like that! I find summer school holidays (despite having grown up kids) really hard for maintaining routines and I'm relieved to be back to 'term time' and re establishing workout routines and healthier habits.
I'm AuDHD so I find I'm quite all or nothing with food. I can forget to eat and then suddenly be starving at the end of the day. The impulsive side and dopamine ADHD side of me can be prone to binge eating sugar and carbs and the Autististic part of me can then become quite over disciplined so I'm hoping this might help me establish a better balance with the dopamine rewards from sugar and alcohol etc being taken down by the GLP1.
I take stimulant meds but they haven't really had any impact on my appetite or cravings which I know can be a bonus side effect for some people - that being said I think I metabolise them really fast... I'm 5.6ft and have put on quite a bit of weight for me and I hate it so keen to get back into the 130's where my clothes feel better and I feel like I can sit comfortably a few pounds either side of around 130-135lbs. I can't see any difference yet from this first 8lbs but I feel better for better food habits and re establishing some exercise - i have had knee injury so am still only really walking the dog and doing some pilates/yoga and low level resistance work but looking forward to starting to run with the dog again soon. Exercise has a really positive effect on my mood.
I have noticed that I am a lot more thirsty so I'm drinking a lot more water which is a good thing and as my metabolism has slowed down and I'm going to the bathroom (for a nr 2 sorry TMI) less than I normally do and so this is making me drink the extra water which I'm usually terrible with. I am making efforts to increase my fiber which is also helping and also means drinking more water. - I am making sure I have fruit and seeds to help. Its easy to end up being all focussed on Protein and scared of any fat and carbs so I'm trying to keep a balance. I'm inheritantly lazy about food and don't enjoy preparing it and am rather disorganised about food shopping.
What are peoples good go to meals? So far I'm eating
Face fat free yoghurt with Chia and fruit and seeds or eggs any which way for breakfast sometimes with bacon medallions.
I've made batch portions of meatballs in tomato sauce with kidney beans and veg (Kind of like a chilli) .
Chicken with sweet potato roasted dry in the air fryer with green salads or any green veg.
And some easy chicken broth and veg soups.
Dr Kargs high protein ementaal and seeds crackers with hummus and tomatoes is one of my favourite lunches/snacks.
Ramen with noodles and veg and chicken/protein of some kind.
Feeling completely uninspired food wise really. The only thing I seem to want to eat a lot of is fruit which is high in sugar. I'm trying to eat some raw carrots and cucumber or celery to snack on with hummus or tsasiki.
I've cut down on my bread/gluten intake as I suspect it's not that good for me - If I have it I stick to sourdough or gluten free. I am v susceptible to inflammation based conditions and bread and yeast don't leave me feeling great. Also once I get in the habit of eating bread it ends up being all I eat. Toast toast and more toast....
Oops this was long!
