Hello from the slower loser here at the back!

I was away staying with family last week so I was delighted to lose 1/4 of a lb. First time I've ever been on 'holiday' and lost weight, however small!

I'm on injection 6 now and have lost 8.5lb. It's enough to feel it in my clothes and move from a size 20 to an 18. I've got clothes from size 12-20 from my weight loss and gains over the years so plenty in the loft to 'shop' from!

I have made some really good progress, I've gone from eating sweets in the car on my way from work and chocolate virtually every evening to nothing. But I can feel the desire for sweet stuff starting to come back.

I'm going to look at moving up to 5mg for my next pen. Has anyone changed supplier at this point? I'm using med express but they are pretty expensive on-going after the initial referral discount I got.

user626 · 30/09/2026 12:48

@MrsScotland I changed supplier after my initial pen. It was really straightforward. I chose Bolt as they were the cheapest at the time. I can send you a referral code if you like.

Can I join the slow losers in behalf of my wife? (She’s said it’s ok for me to post here and she is fully aware of what’s being said)

we are both pension age, and she has struggled with her weight since giving birth. So she started on Wegovy .25, stayed with this for a month, and a week ago had her first shot of .5. Her clothes are fitting better, and she feels better, but the total weight loss is just 2lb!

and the kicker is that I’ve lost 4.5 lb in the same period eating the same meals!

so what gives here?

bungobungobungo · 30/09/2026 14:41

Hope it’s still ok to join as last day of September. I haven’t quite started yet but Mounjaro arriving soon. Hope I can at least lose some weight by Christmas. Like to lose several stones but don’t know if that’s achievable?

CoolRubyDreamer · 30/09/2026 15:35

Hi everyone, I've just done my first jab restarting after 18months. I originally was on it for 6months in 2024 and maintained for a year but this year the weight just started to creep back on and then a change in my work made it hard for me to get back on track. I'm excited to see how it goes for me this time round, I had no issues last time and didn't move up from 2.5. so hoping it'll be the same!

AxisofEvelKnievel · 30/09/2026 15:50

72.1 kg down from 73.3 kg last week. This coming Saturday will be my sixth jab and I had my first at 79.5 kg on August 29th after losing about 3 kg just by exercising at the gym. I doubt I’ll ever need to shift off 2.5 mg as it clearly does the business. I am aiming for 69-70 kg as I am a six footer.

Very sporty person defeated by perimenopause weight gain—nothing I did stopped the weight creeping on—I had to use MJ to force me to eat less.

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 30/09/2026 18:19

Solidarity with @MrsScotlandand @BorneBackCeaselesslyIntoThePas‘s wife.

My clothes are definitely looser. I’d crept into a 16 and am back to 14 despite my total loss being on the low side. Sounds as though you’re both experiencing the same. I think we’ve just got to stick with it. Trust the process and all that.

@MrsScotland DH calls it my ‘clothing museum’. I wore a shirt from the museum today and got some nice compliments at work. Smile

Weigh day after week 4 for me today and I’ve lost 0.9kg. Happy with that as I had a few Prosecco’s and some cake along the way. Planning to stay at 2.5mg for now as 1kg loss a week is where I feel happy and at that rate I only have 6 more weeks to goal! Really hoping I can get there in 2 more pens

AxisofEvelKnievel · 30/09/2026 19:28

@MrsScotland Also have a discount referral if you want it, may be worth collecting up a few from different places so you don’t finish up out-of pocket.

Whimsylu · 30/09/2026 21:41

A little bit nervous because I ordered three pens 2.5, 5 and 7.5mg when I should have only ordered the 2.5 to begin with to see for any side effects. I hope that my body allows me to move up in doses every four weeks otherwise I have two pens that will just be sitting in the fridge.

I have the 2.5 pen in the fridge but I am saving it until Friday evening when I don’t have work to manage any potential side effects.

Mostly nervous about nausea as a side effect, is there anything I can do in the meantime to prepare/minimise side effects? Would appreciate all your insights and advice! :)

AxisofEvelKnievel · 01/10/2026 09:14

@Whimsylu you’ll find the 5mg and 7.5mg will be good to store in your fridge, unopened, for quite a lengthy period of time (ie months)—there will be an expiry date on the side.

I say this because many people find they can stay at a particular dosage (both 2.5 mg and especially 5 mg are common) to lose the majority if not all of their weight. I fall into the 2.5 group and someone like Telegraph writer Allison Pearson—as she’s written—was a “5mg is enough” person.

This also represents a very significant cost saving over time. You won’t know, of course, until you try the 2.5 mg to “suck it and see”, but there is no rule that says you must up the dose every month.

LostThestral · 01/10/2026 11:22

that's very helpful to know, I am starting tonight & hopeful to stay on a low dose but feeling really nervous about the possible side effects at the moment

Ive just taken my first dose my second time round of doing this after an 18 month break and I took was so nervous about side effects the first time round that I put off doing it but I was fine if get the odd headache after jab day and weirdly would feel cold too just make sure you drink water and eat even if you don't actually feel like that

TeddyBeans · 01/10/2026 20:06

So far so good on the 5mg pen (took it Tuesday evening). No side effects and appetite is definitely squashed! Dinner tonight ended up being 80g (3) chicken goujons, a few chips and some beans which is not very much at all 🤣

Lost 500g overnight as well which is brilliant! If this continues I should be under 100kg in a week or two 🤞

how long does it take after taking your injection for the nausea to kick in? Just working out when to take my first dose

For me it is within minutes. Feel the chills and like I have to just lie down.

I just took my 3rd 2.5 jab 10 mins ago and have had to come back to bed as my cat is lying on my sofa and I hate disturbing him, he's only just got settled.

Anyway I've lost another kilo, but I am feeling overall much, much better when the nausea stops. 3.4% of overall starting weight down.

Another weird thing is other pains have completely disappeared. Stomach pains I've had for over a decade as well as knee pains that have just started in the last year or so.

Frenchlady14 · Yesterday 09:01

Hi - I've had a bit of an up and down week - had lost 2kg by last Monday after 2nd jab and so pleased but found the suppression so strong on Tuesday and especially Wednesday (I'm amazed at just 2.5) that I struggled to eat at all - I had friends round on Wed night so was cooking but I felt light-headed and tired from not being able to eat - trying to keep up my fluids though. I haven't told anyone except my daughter that I'm doing this - it's not as common in France and I don't want to explain my medical history.

Anyway .. had a couple of glasses of wine and made myself eat something and yesterday was much better and I had three very small meals - but then of course I seem to have regained half a kilo which I know is not actually possible with the amount of food I had but I also know that alcohol slows it down a bit.

I don't want to change my social life as I have less years in front of me than behind and so I have to accept that a social evening slows it down and I can lose mainly Monday to Thursday with the suppression at it's strongest. I also don't feel I can afford to lose too quickly at my age as it won't look good.

I think I will accept (and be very happy) with about a kilo a week loss - I go up to to 5 dose at the end of the month (doctor prescription) and I wonder what the suppression would be like on that - not sure if it will be too strong.

Everyone's journey is so different and it is really interesting to hear how we are all doing - have a good weekend everyone x

I took my first jab last night 2.5mg & so far so good although I really struggled to get to sleep last night & woke twice in the night wide awake so not sure if that's related.

So far so good with side effects, wasn't starving this morning as I usually am in the morning but definitely wanted to eat some breakfast. Early days yet

Shedmistress · Yesterday 09:43

FYI I was only in bed for 20 mins, then back up and running.

Eyelashesoffire · Yesterday 13:19

It's the end of week 2 for me and the appetite is definitely back now! I'm ok with this as it's not a hangry panicky hunger that I used to get. The 'reward' in my brain for eating is gone, which is a lovely feeling, not being a slave to food.

I've lost 7lbs so far, I'm happy with that. I don't want to lose my hair or get gall bladder issues. I don't feel I'm eating very much though but I do eat lots of veg and I'm not constipated.

Anyone who's staying on 2.5mg, do you find it suppresses your appetite still?

AxisofEvelKnievel · Yesterday 15:20

@Eyelashesoffire I will be having my sixth jab of 2.5 mg tomorrow and it absolutely still suppresses for me for most of the week. I can eat, but smaller portions (protein first) & no snacking. Even when the major suppression lifts later in the week, I do not snack.

Maybe I'm not eating enough, I'm absolutely starving most of the time. I'm not snacking as I'm not particularly interested in food. It's a weird combination of feelings - starving hungry and not interested in food!

Berengariaoftheverylowcountries · Today 11:49

Really thrilled today. 1.3kg making 6.5 in total and a full stone down. A long way to go but that’s 5% loss. Very pleased. Still getting decent suppression. Absolutely love the absence of food noise.

InALonelyWorld · Today 14:07

Took my 4th dose last night and weighed this morning, I have lost barely anything this week and seems to mirror the weight where i was getting stuck on pre-jab 😞 i do feel like i am due my time of the month so praying it is that and not the stall I am used to.

Side effects have massively reduced though which is a positive, but maybe I have hit the tolerance stage now. I am going to stick it out for another month and see how i get on. I am hoping my next jab is delivered soon as I have heard nothing about it being dispatched.
