Currently half way through my first week & have had trouble sleeping all weekend with waking up 3-4 times a night wide awake & struggling to get back to sleep. Is this a side effect?

This happened to me my first week. I could not get to sleep any earlier than 1-2am no matter how hard I tried. It got better after my second jab but not to what it was pre-jabbing. I have bought some magnesium supplements to see if they will help but havent tried them yet.

Hello

Jab 7 tonight and I think I'm going to change my weigh in day to a Friday. I seem to get to my lowest by then, then bob up a little thanks to wine at the weekend. You could say it's all the same weight really but it's getting me down a bit. On Friday I was 2lb down, by this morning it was only 0.75lb.

Counting Friday's weight, that's me down by 10.5lb in six weeks. I did kind of expect it to be more, I do feel like I've cut down massively and I'm trying hard. But it is what it is. Would really like to get to 1 stone off in eight weeks, let's do this!

I'm only 1.5lb off my wedding weight, although I was doing a lot more weights and I've had a baby since then so my body isn't as toned. Looking forward to trying the wedding dress back on though!

Pretty sure I will go to 5mg next pen, can anyone give me a discount code for Medicine Marketplace only please?

Thanks

My first injection this evening so feeling good that I’ve finally started. Onwards and upwards from here!

InevitableDownwardSpiral · 06/10/2026 08:10

A comical 0.6lb loss brings me to a total of 10lbs off in 5 weeks. I think I'm pretty happy with that to be fair. 2lbs a week seems like a good rate of loss and is around 1% of my bodyweight each week.

I'm trying to stop myself wishing it was quicker, that's the old diet head talking for me. The truth is I'm finding it pretty effortless, and no real side effects whereas the last time I lost 10lb it took me three months and was a constant struggle. And then I put it all back on again plus a bit extra!

Onwards and downwards for all of us!

Starting weight 194.4 lbs
Current weight 184.4 lbs

Week 1 -4lb
Week 2 -2.6lb
Week 3 +0.6lb
Week 4 - 3.4lb
Week 5 - 0.6lb

Total loss - 10lb

Hi Mrs Scotland - I am exactly the same!! I just had jab 3 - It seems slow but then again I still have wine at the weekends and occasionally during the week if someone pops round - I was 3kg down last Friday but after the weekend it has changed to 2.4kg down. But at least I know why and I need to remember how difficult it was to lost 2kg before the Mounjaro. I food suppression quite heavily and I am switching to my 5 pen after my next jab so it will be interesting to see how that works - I am a little nervous as it can be difficult to eat anything on days 2-3 after my 2.5 jab.= but my prescription is from my endocrinologist after lots of tests so I'll do what she suggests.

I don't want to change my social life greatly and so will continue as I am and honestly if I lost 1 kg a week that would be great - I do and don't want it to come off too fast IYKWIM - so that would be good. My clothes feel a bit looser so I am happy with that.

Have a good week and to all on our September 2026 thread - hope you're all ok and doing well x

CoolRubyDreamer · 06/10/2026 10:09

@Frenchlady14 I know what you mean about I do and don't want it to come off quickly! It's great to see the scales go down but know deep down it's got to be sustainable

AxisofEvelKnievel · 06/10/2026 13:16

Weighed myself a day early today because I’m heading to the US tomorrow. I’ve arranged one week’s break—this coming Saturday’s jab—so I don’t have to run the customs/TSA gauntlet at the other end with an unrefrigerated Mounjaro pen in my hand-luggage.

71.8 kg today, so only a small loss (0.3 kg), but extensive body recomposition: muscle up, fat down, metabolic age 48 rather than 51. I haven’t put a tape measure around my middle but my waist is very slim—I can tell from my jeans; snug or at least fitted around the bum and thighs, but I need a belt to keep them up. I think Mounjaro changes the way my body sheds fat compared to just regular exercise.

Formerdarkhorse · 06/10/2026 15:28

Anyone else still struggling with side effects on the 2.5mg dose?
I’ve lost 15lbs in 6 weeks, and stayed on 2.5mg for the second pen as it still seemed to be suppressing well and wasn’t bothering me. Since I started month 2 my side effects have increased so much, I’m considering stopping ☹️ it could be a coincidence and I have actually caught something but I was so sick and not sleeping on my last injection that I was actually off sick for two days. However the positive thing is I seem to have broken my intense sugar, Diet Coke and caffeine cravings, so hopefully even if I do stop I’ve broken that cycle which is an major contributor to my weight issues. P

Eyelashesoffire · 06/10/2026 18:14

@Formerdarkhorse sounds horrible, I'm on 2.5mg and I've not had much more than brief nausea in the mornings but I ate a few chocolates yesterday and I felt quite sick - I wouldn't normally have that problem! Can you talk to your prescriber?

What exercise are you all doing? I don't want to get all 'baggy' so I'm forcing myself to go to a terrifying weights class at my gym once a week 🤣

I've lost 8lbs in 2 weeks and I can feel the difference in the waist of my trousers, I'm really pleased! It's such a revelation to not feel like I'm missing out on treats, I just don't care if I don't have snacks. I still can't get over some people feel like this naturally.

Eyelashesoffire · 06/10/2026 18:17

@AxisofEvelKnievel how does the break work? You just don't take a dose that week and deal with the side effects? So you just let your prescriber know that you're a week behind? Have a great time in the US!

AxisofEvelKnievel · 06/10/2026 19:23

@Eyelashesoffire Yes, because I leave tomorrow (Wed 7th) and don’t get back until the 17th, I’m going to be missing the 10th of October jab. I of course cleared this with the clinicians at Voy first. I do want to be able to enjoy the event & have the occasional drink (plus there’s a meal at a restaurant with a Michelin star I’m looking forward to).

Ooh la la! Michelin star restaurant, wonderful! Enjoy!

is it too late to squeak into this thread? I started on the 30 Sep so technically meet the criteria! Using the wegovy tablet, not much in the way of side effects thankfully (unless I forget and knock back a full glass of water after a meal!). 5.5lbs off in week 1, but I have plenty to lose.

@Eyelashesoffire what happens in the terrifying class???

The most alarming exercise was where I had to balance on my back on a yoga ball, keeping it in place only with my feeble core and wobbly legs, and lift weights over my head! It was a minor miracle I didn't injure myself. I'm going back tomorrow so still plenty of time to do myself a mischief!

Slipperslopey · 07/10/2026 07:43

Ugh weigh day for me and only a 0.3kg loss. I think it’s time to move up to 5mg! I’m a bit surprised as I thought I’d been quite good this last week, I’ll hope that some of it is water retention and that I’ll get a bigger loss next week. Quite nervous to go up, but I’m only 6.5kg / 1 stone off goal weight now and I just want it gone. Fingers crossed for a bigger shift next week.

in total I’ve done 5 weeks now, with a 6kg loss so far. That’s not bad overall, hopefully going up to 5mg means I can do same again, and just one more month to shift this last stone 🤞

Yes my side effects are still not feeling hungry, then feeling hungry but also sick, then if I eat too much, which is still only 1/3 of a plate I feel bloaty.

I've also just not snacked at all. Bought some dried apricots for snacking on and had to force myself to have 3 yesterday evening just for the fibre.

Frenchlady14 · 07/10/2026 09:15

Hi - could I ask some of you to list what you might eat in an average day? I thought I had such a low eating day yesterday but nothing has changed this morning.

So, yesterday I had

Large cup of coffee with semi-skimmed milk and one sugar.

Elevenish : half a small mezze bowl - with three tiny falfels and some yoghurt and salad and two spoonfuls of rice (left over from the weekend) - some chickpeas and endamame beans - would all fit on a side plate.

Fourish: Two skinless chicken thighs with a handful of flat peas and asparagus

Eightish: Greek yoghurt with berries and one tablespoon of chia seeds (couldn't finish it).

I am finding the suppression strong in the morning so can only manage a coffee and in between I drink lots of water and take some supplements.

I'd be so interested to hear what you are all doing and maybe pick up some tips?

Berengariaoftheverylowcountries · 07/10/2026 10:12

I strongly counsel against weighing more than once a week. Weight naturally varies and too closely monitoring it can be demoralising.
I am having a cup of tea in the morning and maybe one later. A Diet Coke at lunch and dinner. A fairly light lunch, sometimes just fruit and popcorn. A bigger dinner, last night chicken in black bean source, rice and spring rolls. I looked at my TDEE and am aiming for a calorie deficit of around 400 daily which seems to be working ok. I’m thinking about going up to 5 next time after two months if 2.5 but I suspect that will be as high as I go. I’ve got a lot to lose and it needs to happen slowly and steadily. A stone in 5 weeks felt very reasonable. Drinking a lot more water than previously too. If you have less to lose it will be slower.

fetchthechequebookjerry · 07/10/2026 10:23

I'm only in my second week so still figuring food out really! Usually something like breakfast of a half portion of nut/seed porridge (from the Fast 800 book), lunch a boiled egg, green veg, a small piece of cheese, supper a small portion of whatever family is having i.e. turkey bolognese, baked salmon etc.

@Eyelashesoffire I am a liability with a yoga ball! Well done you.

I'm the opposite with weighing. I weigh more often and log it on an app which tracks the trend.
That way if I have a day where I have gone up, im not upset as long as the overall trend is still downwards. Otherwise I would be demoralised if I am slightly up after one week.

user626 · 07/10/2026 12:35

I’ve had a horrible week, 3rd dose of 0.5mg wegovy. I’d been on 0.25mg but upped it. Since I took it on Friday I have felt constantly sick and constipated. I’ve not been able to finish my small meals and the fatigue is awful. Today I’ve started with diarrhoea. I’ve contacted my supplier and they’ve told me to go back to 0.25mg so have reordered that. Unfortunately my next 0.5mg pen was delivered yesterday so it’s cost me twice and I won’t be able to use it

CrunchyWaldorfSalad · 07/10/2026 12:58

My pens are arriving today and I’m feeling quite nervous! I struggle with terrible bloating and gas whenever I try to lose weight. I don’t know why. Any idea how I can prevent that?

TeddyBeans · 08/10/2026 07:22

@CrunchyWaldorfSalad no ideas, sorry! But I hope you don't experience it this time around!

@user626 can you use half doses of the 5mg one? Saves wasting it that way 😊

I've got below 100kg 🥳🥳 for the first time since my daughter was born 3.5 years ago! Next target is <90kg - it's been 9.5 years since I was that weight, before I fell pregnant with my son 😁

bungobungobungo · 08/10/2026 10:27

Had my first jab Monday evening after dinner and felt ok. Tuesday ok during the day but didn’t feel like eating much. Indigestion during the night, took Gaviscon, then acid reflux which I’ve never had before. Wednesday had toast and tea then nothing till dinner and had half a small fish and chips. Felt really cold all day though. Last night all ok apart from a bit of indigestion which went away after some fizzy water. I’m currently looking after a relative in their home so next week will be able to plan meals, eat more healthily and do more exercise. Going to make nourishing soup today.
