I normally log my weight on a Thursday but after a sneaky look at the scales decided to log an extra mid-week weigh in because I have reached my interim goal of bmi of 29.9. Just overweight not obese!

I haven't been this weight since I was a teenager (now late 30s).

Approaching 50% loss compared to my start weight which seems mad.

Certainly when I started in July 2024 I don't think I thought I'd get this far.

Next goal is bmi of 24.9, although I am quite happy with how I look so will see how I get on and may revise. Though I also have cancer and my oncologist is very keen for my to get to a healthy weight so that is also a factor.

SW 26 stone 9 pounds (bmi 57.2)
CW 13 stone 13.2 pounds (bmi 29.9)
Next goal 11 stone 6 pounds (bmi 24.9)

2.7lb off this week with which I am delighted.

NSV: the size 16 jeans I bought a few weeks ago now fit me. I know that for some people size 16 is still massive but for me I feel positively lithe! When I held them up against me I didn’t think they do you but what do you know! Shame it’s too hot to wear them Grin

I normally live in jeans but haven't worn them for a few weeks because of the heat. I'm looking forward to a nice surprise when I go to put them on again in a few weeks - I think I'll actually be disappointed if they still fit 🤣

PearlsTeapot · 25/07/2026 11:23

Love reading about all the health NSVs! Getting rid of cpap must have felt amazing.

My ‘eat everything’ Sundays seem to have turned into eat everything weekends, so I’m getting a grip on this today and eating normally.

PearlsTeapot · 25/07/2026 19:17

I ordered my jab last night and on the order confirmation page noticed the shipping address was the hospital (in London!). I tried to call them but they were shut til Monday, I immediately emailed them on the contact us page and replied to my order confirmation email too marked urgent but I'm still really worried. Have I just thrown £230 away? Medicine Marketplace really need weekend staff!

Phone them up first thing Monday morning, they don’t despatch til late afternoon so you’ve plenty of time to stop it before then. Make sure you call though and don’t give up till you get through. Emails are too easy to ignore/miss. I’ve managed to get mine despatched on a later date before by calling them.

Stop panicking, it’ll be fine! 🤞

SilenceInside · 25/07/2026 20:22

Hope you can get it sorted first thing on Monday @PearlsTeapot - I’m sure it won’t be money wasted.

PearlsTeapot · 25/07/2026 20:32

Thank you both, it's such a lot of money for such a stupid mistake! I'll call them on the dot of 9am and won't stop til I speak to someone.

Apologies I've not posted in a while, I've been mainly recording my weekly weigh ins on my monthly starter's thread. But I had a question that someone here may have an insight into.

I need to have an operation soon, under general anaesthetic, luckily keyhole due to my new BMI. They've advised I need to stop the WLI one week before the op. The op is on a Tuesday, and I've always jabbed on a Friday. I was thinking of maybe doing a smaller shot on the Tuesday, a week beforehand?

So I'm planning on taking my normal 7.5mg on a Friday, then something like 5mg on the following Tuesday, so exactly 7 days before the op, rather than stopping a full 11 days before.

Does my plan make sense, or am I over thinking it?

When i had surgery recently i skipped the dose the week before so it was 13 days between last jab and operation. Didn't notice too much difference in satiety and jabbed a lower dose on day 14 (i was on 15mg and didnt want to jump back up after a 2 week gap so went with 10mg). I've stayed at 10mg since so it worked out well in the end.

The most important thing is that you inform the anaesthetist. I'm pretty sure they do emergency surgery on people who have recently jabbed so they must have protocols in place for whenever you jab (but a longer gap may make their job easier)

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 26/07/2026 15:58

Hello, everyone.

I'm doing quite well.

Down to past goal so am now 9st 9lb (BMI 23).

Jabbed 7.5mg yesterday so we'll see how that goes. Having an MRI (head) on Friday.

AlicesMum2025 · 26/07/2026 17:22

Happy Sunday everyone. It's been an eventful couple of weeks here.

  1. I have now lost over 10 stone!!!!! It's absolutely mad to think that I have been able to do this. That's a whole person I used to carry around with me 24/7.

SW: 140.3kg / 22st 1.5lb / 309.5lb
CW: 75.5kg / 11st 12.5lb / 166.5lb
GW: 60.3kg / 9st 7lb / 132.9lb
Total lost: 64.8kg / 10st 3lb / 143lb
Left: 15.2kg / 2st 5.5lb / 33.5lb
BMI: 54.1 ---> 29.1

  1. I twisted my ankle and fell in the Tesco car park last week. I felt like a right idiot but I just got up from the ground. I didn't have to get anyone to help me, I didn't sit there trying to work up the energy to heave myself up, I didn't think anything of it. That is life changing.

  2. I have crazily bought a ticket to do hyrox in December. I was originally only intending to volunteer this year so I could go and check it out but then I thought, fuck it, what's the worst that can happen! It will be a stretch and obviously really challenging, but I've been strength training for 12 months now, doing HIIT and completed couch to 5k so I think I've got a good foundation. Training starts now. Not going to lie though, I'm fucking terrified!!!!

I was hoping to get to goal by the end of this year but I might need to pause weight loss in order to get through hyrox and the training. So far I've been coping fine on 1400 cal, which with the amount of exercise I do is a big deficit, but as things progress it's possible that I'll simply need to eat more, particularly carbs which I try to keep low currently. I will see what my coach says but I'm willing to push my goal date back a few months if necessary.

From 20 years sedentary and size 26/28 in May 2025 to hyrox in December 2026, currently size 14, is a massive change. I feel like a different person already.

AlicesMum2025 · 26/07/2026 17:23

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne good to hear from you. Congrats on goal and best of luck for Friday

Springflowers2 · 26/07/2026 20:10

Lovely to hear from you @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne
Good luck on Friday

Springflowers2 · 26/07/2026 20:12

@AlicesMum2025 ,hope your ankle is ok now ..well done for managing the situation with dignity,I don't even know what hyrox is ..but it sounds like your up for the challenge

Springflowers2 · 26/07/2026 20:14

@Castlebark good luck with the op ,but what ever you decide,do let the hospital know .all should be good as long as you are a week clear as they ask x

Springflowers2 · 26/07/2026 20:15

@PearlsTeapot ..fingers crossed for Monday's phone call ..belt and braces approach..I'd be emailing as well as phoning x

PearlsTeapot · 26/07/2026 20:53

I've emailed three times! Desperate. I'm ready to call at 9am.

@AlicesMum2025 10 STONE KLAXON!!! <3 Well done to you, you must be absolutely thrilled. Crazy amount of weight to lose. I'm so impressed you're going to do a hyrox, DW does them so I know how much goes into them. You're my hero and have inspired me to get back to the gym this week after a week off (I hurt my back).

SilenceInside · 26/07/2026 22:43

I have just looked up what a hyrox is and I am very impressed that you have signed up for it @AlicesMum2025 ! I still haven’t managed to be brave enough to try a park run which I thought I might try once I’d finished C25K. I think the issue is that I just don’t really enjoy running!

SilenceInside · 26/07/2026 22:49

Oh, also massive congratulations on the 10st mark @AlicesMum2025 I think pretty much daily about how on earth I used to go about my daily life carrying the equivalent of another adult around with me.

FourSeasonsTotalLandscaping · 27/07/2026 08:25

Hello all! Apologies haven’t been keeping up at all as work has been mad busy and then I went on holiday to Austria. Had a great week doing lots of activities that pre-MJ me couldn’t have contemplated like zip lining off a mountain.

Have put 2kg on whilst away though - lots of walking didn’t outweigh the lots of cakes and wine 😬

Slightly concerned as I am away again next week to the seaside where lots of walking won’t outweigh lots of chips and ice cream. Have to trust that it will all be OK in the end.

AlicesMum2025 · 27/07/2026 08:40

@PearlsTeapot that's so kind of you. It's important to listen to your body so do what you can but movement is always good. I can't believe I say things like that now...

@SilenceInside I also don't enjoy running but I do like how it feels when it's over, having done the thing I set out to do. I find it easier to listen to a podcast when running rather than music as it holds my attention more and keeps my mind off the struggle 🤣 If you like true crime my current favourite is True Crime Campfire.

@FourSeasonsTotalLandscaping how amazing that you went on the zip line. I would never. Don't worry about the holiday ice creams etc. Life is to be lived and enjoyed so try to not to go mad with it and then just get back to routine when you're back. We can't live the rest of our lives on diets so we have to learn how to balance things out. Like you say, it will all be ok in the end.

MCR24 · 27/07/2026 10:43

A zip wire is on my list of things I'd love to do that I couldn't before, I just don't live near one and I don't think there will be one at my next holiday destination!

I think after a holiday you still hold on to more weight with the increase of activities and the flying so I'm sure even with eating more treats the 2kg isn't all real gain. I've just got back to my pre holiday weight, it took longer than I would like but I've made it!

Broon glad to see you here, hope everything is ok with the MRI

@PearlsTeapot hope you've managed to sort out your delivery

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 27/07/2026 10:53

Im scared of zip lines now! Go Ape was one of my original targets when I was trying to lose weight 15 years ago.... but Ive lost the excitement and gained the fear. Simialrly... rollercoasters. I was desperate to get back on them... and now they dont agree with me

Ive got blinking sulphur burps back. I went up by 0.4 as moved to a 15 pen and decided to dose 10 from it for ease and round numbers and all. It could be that but not aure as its such a tiny increase i didn't think it would be significant.

Ive also eaten a couple of meals out but nothing I havent been doing the last 6 months sulphur burp free! My kids are hating it as they've come on suddenly while in the car.

I have pepto whoch works but its day 4.... any idea how to make them actually go??

Im away this week so no idea of my weight. Have brought pen with me. Struggling with appetite recently as know im not eating "well" as in full range of fruit and veg etc and more things are "wrong" than usual in a sensory/autistic sense. I need to work on this or will end up just eating the same things.

Hoping to walk a fair bit while away.

We've not been away in a long time. I today felt so grateful I could just get in amd out of a shower over a bath with ease. I couldnt 18months ago. And reaching all my body with ease , especially bum area! Its almost easy to forget so love having these little flash backs of how amazing this journey is. Lifechanging completely.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne Glad you're okay. Have been thinking of you when I read here. I hope the scan goes okay.

Wow for 9st9!!! That's amazing!! Have you got an idea what you will do longer term/maintenance etc?!

PearlsTeapot · 27/07/2026 12:14

Yes showering is so much easier now! I used to use a scrubber on a long stick for places I couldn't reach and I don't need it anymore as I can reach everywhere which really makes me feel better about myself.

Well done on the zip wire @FourSeasonsTotalLandscaping what a great NSV!

PearlsTeapot · 27/07/2026 13:03

Update on my stupid mistake. I called them on the dot of 9 and she gave me an email address to email. Which I did. They replied saying they have updated the shipping address to my home. But then I got a Royal Mail tracking email still saying the hospital as shipping address, so I don’t know what to think.
