@SilenceInside thats interesting I've not had the colds or chest infections I used to get (and fear - I have asthma and used to get quite unwell) . For me I wondered if it is the reduction in inflammation /asthma linked but maybe we're just so mcuh healthier?!

Good luck with your next push! I had so hoped Id be one of the ones needing to "put on the breaks" and start reducing befire I got to my ideal weight but I think Ill be following your footsteps (as ever!) to slowly get to that final goal! I'm so happy with where I am already it has been so life changing.

O saw 2 people today I've not seen in a year and they kept saying how well I look and I started talking about my new job and this amazing year and then twigged I must look literally a different person at just slightly overweight to still morbidly obese a year ago!!

I am so not medical so take this as you would anyone "off the internet" but it might be worth showing a nurse practioner sooner rather than later. My fear is of blood clots as they thought I had one before and one of the symptoms is the swelling on one leg and not the other... They thought I had one on a lung and I was so frightened - it turned out not to be but theres a blood test they can do. Its fairly urgent if you say it might be a blood clot even though it often isnt. I think...

PearlsTeapot · 23/07/2026 14:12

I also never had my usual winter cold/flu this year. Coincidence? Maybe!

SilenceInside · 23/07/2026 14:27

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I think if I was worried about a blood clot I would straight into the GP, if I could get in to see them. Perhaps I am too confident in my own diagnostic skills, but I am pretty certain that it isn't going to be a blood clot. Both my legs can swell when it's very hot, like the recent 35 degrees plus weather, it's just that my left leg will go back to normal whereas the right one never quite does. My bet is on lymphoedema possibly caused or exacerbated by the BP medication.

We are away on holiday in three weeks, so I don't want to have any medical stuff ongoing before then. I am happy it can wait until September. I am not sure I have the mental capacity to manage getting an appointment with my GP surgery until then. Last time I needed an appointment was for my DS and I had to complain to the practice manager before I could get through to anyone to make an appointment. Since then the practice has been taken over by a company called Operose Health who are... not great... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-61759641) and there's a confusing array of at least three different historic online systems that you are supposed to use to make an appointment. No idea which one will actually get me seen!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 23/07/2026 14:35

Gosh that sounds a nightmare. I've been going round the houses with hospital appointments where there's no one person to talk to to chase and a crazy non-system that doesn't work. It all seems to have gone crackers with covid/post covid getting hold of GPs/dentists/hospital appointments.

Have a fab holiday! I have a bit of a blood clot phobia hence my post but sounds like you know what its likely to be. Hope they get it sorted after your holiday x

My chart reminds me that although it’s going slowly it is going down!

I don't honestly know what's happened with GP surgeries and the issues around appointments - it just seems like a total mess. I am very grateful that normally all of us are fit and well and don't need to access the GP for anything apart from my high BP medication.

Mines going slow as well .still at the top end of 14 stone
But it's absolutely lovely seeing 14 stone . And pounds ,on the scales.
So I'm definitely not complaining
When I think back to when it said 27 stone and pounds ..
Last time the scales said 14 stone ,I'd not had 4 children.
So everything is more wobbly.and I feel a lot fatter than last time I was this weight .
I am quite worried about loose skin now
My neck ,the tops of my legs and suddenly my stomach all look like deflated balloons.
On the plus side ...
But my boobs had lost lots of weight to ,and now they both look quite nice in the mirror..nipples both pointing forward..very weird ,but very welcome.
The weight must of been dragging them down.
In other places ..weight has vanished to ..things are not as spongy and I definitely need a cushion to sit on now ..
I saw a friend today if not seen since Christmas..so I got lots of wow compliments..which I do find hard to accept.
Numerous times I've lost weight before, and it's always gone back on ,and more besides ..so I don't want to jinx things being to happy

Springflowers2 · 23/07/2026 19:19

I follow a lady on social media who started at the same weight as me ,and has lost approximately the same amount as me .
We are the same ish height ..she looks about my height
It's weird seeing her before pictures
Because I must of been that large to
But I didn't realize it ..I didn't feel it
I look at her photos and I don't connect that I must of been just as large as I was that weight to
That worries me ,that I lost sight of reality
The only person who can keep this weight of is me .
And I think I'm scared I won't,which I think is why I don't like compliments
I didn't like people mentioning my size when I was bigger, and I don't like it now either

Hi hope you don’t mind me joining the thread 😊 I started MJ end of Nov 25, and I’ve stayed on 2.5mg throughout my journey, I swim 3-4 times a week and try and walk and do some strength training. I was 14 stone 10 I am now 11 stone 8, gone from size 18 to size 12, I am 5ft 3…I think ! Anyway I go on holiday on Monday for 11 days to visit my partners mum in Spain., she is in her 80’s and had dementia so I’ve decided not to take my pen with me for safety reasons. Anyhow I am a little anxious about a 4 day break and weight gain. Has anyone else had a short break and it’s gone ok?

Hi @Bernie54 to answer your question I have occasionally delayed taking my next injection by a few days and it's been absolutely fine. You are not going to gain weight over 4 days. There will still be a decent amount of medication in your system although it will be gradually reducing each day. A break from medication would need to be longer than 30 days, to flush all the medication from your system, so 4 days is not a problem at all.

Thank you that is reassuring to hear. I think when you have achieved so much I don’t want to jeopardise my journey x

Weighed this morning I'm back to 61.8kg (9 stone, 10 lb and 3.93 oz) which is where I was in May 🤦🏼‍♀️ so what I put on has finally come off again. I have a week until it's my 2 year point, I was hoping to be at target 60kg before then but it's not going to happen.

Also I wonder how much loose skin weighs coz if I didn't have that maybe I'd be there 😂

Sw: 142.8kg / 22 stone, 6 lb and 13.12 oz
CW: 61.8kg / 9 stone, 10 lb and 3.93 oz
Total loss: 81kg / 12 stone, 10 lb and 9.19 oz
To go: 1.8kg / 3 lb and 15.49 oz
BMI: 50.8 / 22

Possible NSV.....?

I bought a new full length mirror a few days ago. The previous mirror was very narrow and was not very full length, I could only see up to mid chest! This new one is much taller and wider and I can see all of me in it.
I swear to god I look smaller and thinner in the new one (compared to the old one), it's bizarre!

I asked ChatGPT and it seems to think I'm not wrong. It's something to do with the fact that I was filling the entire space in the old mirror (as it was so small) so my brain's perception was that I'm ginormous whereas the new one, I've got loads of space around me in my reflection so apparently I'm getting more of a realistic view now. Who knows if that's absolute nonsense but I'm taking this as a win because I'm not wincing every time I catch my myself in the mirror now 🤣.

Or maybe I inadvertently bought a magic mirror.........

PearlsTeapot · 24/07/2026 13:44

Hurrah for a realistic mirror! Must feel great.

@bernie everyone is welcome here but just bear in mind it’s a thread for those with ten stone or more to lose.

BMI still 35 because I’m a shortie, nhs says my healthy weight should be between 7st and 9.5 st, I don’t think I want or can get that low, I like how I look in clothes now but could do with another 2 stone off which will take me to bmi 29. Is anyone planning on a higher than 25 bmi which I know is still overweight?

Fffreeeeezing · 24/07/2026 18:11

@52soonmy target weight would make me 29.9bmi. Whether or not I will actually keep going when I get there, well, we'll see. At the start of the journey at just off 60bmi I thought I was pushing it with that target anyway but now at 35.9 bmi, who knows!

52soon · 24/07/2026 18:29

@Fffreeeeezing amazing result so far, well done. my starting BMI was 47.7 so 29 would be amazing! Also I’m no longer type 2, got rid of sleep apnea and c-pap machine and normal BP, so anything extra I get to is a bonus, I just can’t ever imagine That I could be less than 11 stone. Let’s keep going on who knows where this will eventually take us all!

@52soon sorry I think I may have asked this before, but how did they determine you no longer needed the CPAP? I haven’t been back yet but at more than 8 stone lighter I am hoping for the same.

52soon · 24/07/2026 19:50

@ConfusedMiddleAger83 I’ve had a few telephone consultations and it was disturbing my sleep which made me more tired than before I started on it, I haven’t used it since February and my Fitbit measures my sleeping oxygen levels and they’re perfect. I am back on the list for another sleep study before they will take machine off me.

Interesting, I’ve had a few phases of really feeling like I’m fighting the machine in the night but it’s settled again. My oxygen on my Fitbit doesn’t seem brilliant with the CPAP alas, often low 90’s. I need to book an appt but I was trying to get closer to goal weight, still BMI 31.

@52soon great health results! I also got rid of diabetes type 2, sleep apnea (though without machine) and high blood pressure (still taking half a pill p.d.). I'm very happy about that in combination with much better mobility and weight loss from BMI 44.8 SW to 32 CW. I'm aiming for a BMI of 27 as studies show great health prospects for slightly overweight.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 25/07/2026 07:44

Morning all! I finally seem to be getting over my chest infection, I thought about reducing my jab this week as the suppression had been a bit more than I'd like, but ultimately decided to stick with it. If I still feel the same this week I might drop back to 5mg but I'll see how it goes. I've had another nice loss this week and am tantalising close to dropping under BMI 30 for the first time in my life, hopefully next week 🤞🤞🤞

2.7lb off this week with which I am delighted.

NSV: the size 16 jeans I bought a few weeks ago now fit me. I know that for some people size 16 is still massive but for me I feel positively lithe! When I held them up against me I didn’t think they do you but what do you know! Shame it’s too hot to wear them Grin
