Well done @AlicesMum2025 that’s amazing!

GnomeDePlume · 17/09/2026 06:23

Weigh in and jab day

SW 140kg BMI 54.7
CW 89.8kg BMI 35.1
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

14 stone 2lbs. A tiny drop on last week.

My attention is elsewhere at the moment with brand new DGC and an ailing parent. But mounjaro keeps doing its thing in the background and stopping me from face planting into takeaways, biscuits, cakes and general comfort eating.

user593 · 17/09/2026 08:48

I’m finally back to the weight I was two weeks ago 😅 hopefully the inexplicable blip is over and it’s onwards and downwards from now on but we shall see. I decided to hold off going up to the 10mg for now to try and get things under control myself but if I have another few stagnant weeks I’ll order 10mg next time.

I had to have some blood tests yesterday and met with a very Mounjaro-friendly nurse which was lovely. She said they have some prescribed patients who continue to gain weight on it, and that it does still take considerable effort so I should be proud of myself ☺️

Janie934 · 17/09/2026 09:28

SW 26 stone 9 pounds
CW 13 stone 4 pounds
GW 11 stone 6 pounds

Last week I was feeling a bit fed up after only losing 0.4 pounds and was contemplating making changes to my calories/exercise. But after a week of doing exactly the same as the week before, Ive lost 3 pounds. Bodies are weird!

This weeks loss takes me to just under 50% of my starting weight which is a huge milestone but also tricky to get my head round that i used to be 2 x current me.

Under 2 stone to get to bmi under 25.

Hello to everyone who still remembers me! I’m so sorry I haven’t been posting or keeping up on everyone’s news but I have some of my own that I wanted to share with what I think is the best group of people on here!

So, my good news is that I reached my target weight at the end of August. The bad news is I did it whilst in the midst of investigations for cancer.

I spent three weeks knowing that I either have myeloma (bad) or secondary bone cancer from an unknown primary (very bad)

Yesterday, I found out that it’s the least worst option and I have myeloma. It’s incurable but treatable.

I’ve started a preliminary course of steroids and the substantive treatment is likely to start at the beginning of October. The first four months are the least worst, the middle three are brutal and will involve a stem cell transplant and then recovery, hopefully.

My brain knows that the steroids, and indeed the other treatments are a needed and I’m not even contemplating refusing them, but with everything I’m facing the thing that’s getting me down the most is starting a more intense form of medication to the one that caused my weight gain in the first place. Without meaning offence to anybody, the idea of being fat and bald in less than a year is so unbelievably depressing and I’m struggling to get past it.

I know I can talk to my medical team about making my weight one of my first non-clinical priorities, but friends are already trying to force feed me cake “because I don’t need to worry about that now”

PuzzledObserver · 17/09/2026 17:43

Hello….. can I just check please whether the regulars on this thread consider me eligible to join?

I’m a life-long binge eater and yo-yo dieter, 5’7” and at my heaviest 22 stone. That was a good few years ago….. but if I had lost 10 stone from there I would still have had a BMI of 26.

Between January 2024 and May 2025 I went from 18.10 to 13.3 with lifestyle change and a hell of a lot of emotional and mindset work. I felt I was finally going to crack it. Then I resumed bingeing again and within 3 months I was back to 14.5. Got a grip again, lost part of that regain, but from the start of this year had basically been bouncing around between 13.5 and 14stone, not getting anywhere.

I started Mounjaro 5 weeks ago at 13.10 and have just about snuck under 13 stone for the first time in over 30 years. Aiming for 11 stone.

So… do I qualify for this thread or not? 9 stone down, though not all in one go and most of it without meds. And another 2 to go.

I am particularly interested in the psychological adjustment we need to make when going from being always the largest person in the room to just… ordinary. The average BMI for women in the 56-65 age range is 28.8. I’m slightly below that now, and it blows my mind.

I am still wrestling with accepting that the body which emerges will not be perfect, on account of spare skin and wrinkles. Plus the fear of regain, of course. That, and not knowing what the right weight for me is. I’ve literally only once in my adult life had a healthy BMI, in my early 20’s, and for less than a year. I’ve been obese for about 45 years, and morbidly obese for the majority of that. How the hell am I supposed to know what the right size is for my body?

I suppose I like the idea of 11 st as my goal because it’s exactly half my maximum and would put me just within the healthy range.

Oh gosh ..what a blow for you
Definitely tell friends how important healthy eating is ,and you won't be undoing all your hard work with cake .
I'm so glad it wasn't the worst case scenario..you know what to expect and when to expect it ..sounds like your team has everything in hand
Wishing you every luck ,and love for a great outcome

Springflowers2 · 17/09/2026 18:29

@PearlsTeapot .I had no idea that these companies had access to our medical records..and that they could just withdraw medication as they please.
I thought it was really bad to just suddenly stop taking monjroro...they don't know you have gone to another provider..they think you are going to stop taking it ,with no taper of plan ...don't they have a duty of care ..
I could of understood if they said you need to taper down over a few months..but that's brutal to your system to just be made to go cold turkey.

SilenceInside · 17/09/2026 18:37

@OvertiredandConfused so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and the resulting feelings of loss of control. I have a relative who is living with cancer and part of the process for her of managing it is to try to have the healthiest diet possible. No idea if it helps with the treatments she’s on, but it certainly helps with well being. Could you frame it that way with your friends? So, support with healthy eating is more helpful and supportive to you than plying you with cake. Maybe that may help them understand a little bit.

MoneyJo · 17/09/2026 18:47

Sp sorry @OvertiredandConfused what a shock for you.

@PuzzledObserver I'm not qualified to answer as I didn't have 10 stone to lose but I've dipped in here as it's been helpful. I'm also on the 5 stone plus to lose thread and my month starter thread.

SilenceInside · 17/09/2026 18:51

@Springflowers2 the pharmacy can only access your NHS Summary Care Record if they’ve asked specifically for your permission. Some do that as part of the initial consultation form process. The details from the manufacturer Eli Lilly states that you can just stop Mounjaro without any issue, as the medication takes up to 30 days to leave your system so it will naturally taper off. There’s no physiological reason why stopping immediately would cause any issues, everyone in the clinical trials just stopped at the end of the 72 weeks.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 17/09/2026 19:39

@OvertiredandConfused I'm so sorry about your diagnosis. I'm just out the other side of breast cancer. It so very, very difficult.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 17/09/2026 19:41

@PuzzledObserver I think you've just as much right to be here as the rest of us. Your journey to a healthy weight may be different but you're still one of us.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 17/09/2026 19:43

I went for an MRI earlier and the standard size hospital gown worked! Normally I have to request a larger one as no amount of stretch or give would get the regular one on. But on it went. Yes it was stretched and a bit gapey. But it was on.

PearlsTeapot · 17/09/2026 19:44

Well I'm impressed with New Health, ordered last night, dispatched this morning and arriving in the morning! Relief.

@OvertiredandConfused I wondered where you'd gone. I'm sorry to hear of your cancer but glad it wasn't the worse option for you. If it makes you feel any better, I would feel exactly the same with worrying about weight gain on top of everything else.

In your shoes I'd throw myself into healthy eating with gusto. Make it your special interest for a while, and share it with your cake loving friends and tell them to support you with your healthy eating plans.

Lots of love and good luck over the next stage of treatment xxx

SilenceInside · 17/09/2026 19:48

@MrTiddlesTheCat hello again, glad to hear you are still progressing even if it's not always linear!

@Janie934 and @AlicesMum2025 massive congratulations to both of you on the 50% milestone. It truly is an odd thought to think there is literally half of you compared to your starting point. I find it unbelievable for me, my previous weight seems like a bad dream a bit now.

@PuzzledObserver I don't speak for the thread, but this thread is for anyone who has or had 10st or more to lose (or thereabouts if the >5st thread doesn't feel like it's quite right for you). What proportion of that is using a GLP1 I don't feel matters too much.

Missingducks · 17/09/2026 19:59

@OvertiredandConfused sad to see your news and pleased it's not the worst it could have been. Your friends don't know what to do or say but you might want to give them a blanket message "Thanks for all the support and it's hugely appreciated but whilst I am not in control of the cancer I can still work on controlling my weight - you know I have been proud of my achievements there. So please - help me keep on track ... It will help me feel well. Less cake - more wild flowers! "
And I send you an imaginary baked apple filled with greek yogurt x

Whatalunatic · 17/09/2026 21:02

@OvertiredandConfused I am sorry to hear your news. I wish you well with your treatment and hope it goes well.

I had another photo moment. I normally hide from school photos with my form but this year the Head hunted me down and I had no choice. Got it back yesterday and I look....normal. Big smile and totally and utterly normal.

Castlebark · 18/09/2026 11:18

@OvertiredandConfused so sorry to read your news, wishing you the best with your treatment. 🧡

Week 31 weigh in for me, and still plodding along, 0.5kg down.

SW 122.7 kg (19 st 4 lb)
CW 95.7 kg (15 st 1 lb)

I've stuck with 7.5mg this week, but I'm definitely relying on will power more and more. I've also noticed that the little aches and pains are coming back, so maybe my body is just getting too used to the medication.
I had really hoped to stay on a lower dose, and I am still losing consistently, but it's so much money, I don't want to wait for a complete plateau before upping the dose.

In better news, a NSV that I no longer have chub rub! I mean, at 90+ kg my thighs (and even knees!) still touch, but I've been out all day, with no chub rub shorts, and there's just no rubbing any more. 😊

Janie934 · 18/09/2026 14:02

@OvertiredandConfused So sorry to hear your news.

I was diagnosed wity cancer a couple of months ago and given a drug that is known for weight gain and increased appetite so I completely understand your fears.

Re friends and family, I'd just say to them that because of the cancer it is more important than ever for you to eat healthy and get lots of nutrients (and if that doesn't work I'd be tempted to fib and say that the cancer cells thrive on sugar so your oncologist has recommended you avoid sweets and cakes....but I appreciate not everyone would feel ok fibbing about something like that).

I hope the treatment goes well. Let us know how you get on.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 19/09/2026 09:26

@OvertiredandConfused so sorry about your diagnosis. I have a friend who recently beat two different cancers and she puts a lot of it down to various alternative health and lifestyle changes including clean eating - vegan, wholefoods, no sugar etc. Even if you don't want to go that far I agree with everyone above who says to tell your friends that you are using healthy eating as part of your battle against the cancer and ask them to support you in that.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 19/09/2026 09:30

@RenegadeKeeblerElf great loss this week! It’s always interesting to see the ups and downs of people’s progress.

I have been on 12.5mg for a few weeks now and it’s definitely got me back on track. In retrospect (as always for me!) I shouldn’t have fannyed around on 10mg for so long. Hey ho. This week I am back into the 60s, just!, at 69.9kg which I am very happy about.

PearlsTeapot · 20/09/2026 20:44

Well done @SilenceInside and @RenegadeKeeblerElf on your losses! I am so sick of this plateau, I don't think I'm eating particularly very much but still the scales say the same despite me going up in dosage every 5 days.

I've given up on slimming world, it wasn't good for me to be thinking so strictly of things as basically good or bad, and constantly counting and worrying. Plus you have to eat tons of veg, and they all seem to live on eggs and quark which I both hate! I tried loads of the SW food from Iceland and it was all shit and inedible. Poor DS and DW are very relieved it's over. I've lost 3lb in 7 weeks. I'd rather calorie count which I do without any stress.
