Enjoying my mini break even more because I didn't need the seat belt extender on either flight. The normal belt even had a little extra room to spare.

Had to dash through the airport for my connection and while it wasn't fun, at least it was possible, which it wouldn't have been a year ago.

Castlebark · 11/09/2026 11:17

Officially moving across to here as, 7 months in, my monthly thread is a ghost town! I really appreciate everyones openness on this thread, and so many posts are very similar what I've experienced over the years.

Week 30 weigh in day and a very regular 0.6kg off. During the week I go up and down, by as much as a kilo a day, but every Friday recently seems to settle on 0.6kg down. I cannot complain about a steady loss, but I'm really missing the days of 1kg+ off a week.

SW 122.7 kg (19 st 4 lb)
CW 96.2 kg (15 st 2 lb)
GW 60 kg?

I've been flipping between 5mg and 7.5mg, but haven't noticed too much difference. I've ordered 10mg for my next pen as it was actually cheaper than my last 7.5 pen. The aim is to click count, but to what level, I'm not sure yet?

BritbirdUK · 11/09/2026 12:23

HI haven't posted much recently. I run a company that gets 80% of business in November and December so we have been focused on getting ready for the Christmas period. I have been making a huge effort to, when I cook, making extra portions and freezing them. One of my big issues at Christmas is working such long hours - often 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. I get home and it was always so easy to pick up a takeaway or buy a pizza (and eat all of it) This year I don't want to be doing that.

I am doing my final dose of 5 today and have already got my 7.5 dose ready for next week. I regret moving off 2.5 quite so quickly and 5 definitely hasn't worked as well for me. Although I have lost weight each week I had more food noise and less supression. Even when I haven't wanted to eat, I have been thinking about it, and it just didn't seem to go away. I spoke to my GP and he recommended moving up and seeing how that goes.

In terms of actual loss, today I hit the 4 stone mark. Actually I went over it, and am now at 4 stone 3lb. When you translate it to lbs (59) or to Kg (26.76) I feel pretty proud of myself. Yes, I know it is because of the mounjaro but I have also changed my eating habits so much. Quality was never the issue for me, it was quantity. I loved going out to nice restaurants, cooking, baking, but just not always healthy. Now it is all about less snacking, much smaller portions, thinking about what I am eating, and sticking to it. I haven't deprived myself - this week I had a pizza for Tesco freebie Thursday but instead of eating the whole thing I ate until I was full and had a salad alongside it. We also had chocolate samples come in for Christmas which I genuinely had to try - we need to know if they are good enough to stock- but instead of trying all 6 and eating whole truffles, I cut them up and shared them with others. And I feel so much better in myself. More energy, less sluggish. I just wish I had had to courage to do it before.

Anyway, this is a super long post but although I don't post much here, I do read it all and seeing the experiences from others is such a help. So thank you to everyone who does share the good, the bad and the ugly.

EnterSandfan · 11/09/2026 14:32

I'm 5lbs heavier than I was on Saturday apparently 😆 how can that happen haha, I might blame it on water and salt, rather than the chocolate I've been scoffing 👀

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 12/09/2026 09:34

Another small gain for me this week, and I'm honestly surprised it isn't more. I've slipped back into a lot of old habits so I need to refocus and stop it before it gets entrenched. I could probably do with increasing my dose but I want to avoid that as long as possible for cost reasons so I'm going to go back to calorie counting and see if I can get back on track that way.

@Janie934 just want to echo what @Springflowers2 has said, so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and the impact of it on the IVF plans.

@EverybodysALebowski I love hearing about people not needing seat belt extenders on flights, such a satisfying moment for you. And being able to dash for a connection! Where was your mini break to?

@Castlebark hello and welcome to the thread 👋 I started in July 2024 and my month thread was also a ghost town after that sort of time frame. So great to have this thread here for those of us who are definitely in it for the long haul.

@BritbirdUK congratulations on the 4st loss mark, brilliant progress. You’ve done the work, the Mounjaro is a tool to support that. You are doing amazingly well working with food, and not just food but chocolate! Having that around and actually having to taste it is such a challenge.

@EnterSandfan I think that kind of apparent gain must be water and inflammation, it can’t possibly be a genuine fat gain. Hopefully it will drop back down again for you soon.

@RenegadeKeeblerElf good luck with the calorie counting and refocus, I’m sure you’ll be back on it in no time. It’s such a long term progress for us all that there’s bound to be hiccups along the way.

SilenceInside · 12/09/2026 12:50

I mentioned a while ago that I’d been putting off going to the GP about my right leg that constantly swells up and doesn’t often go down completely. I had an appointment this week, and, as I thought myself as a non expert, it’s likely a side effect of my BP medication. So not a DVT or anything more sinister. My BP is in the optimal range at the moment so the GP was happy for me to halve my BP medication and see if that impacts the swelling, whilst keeping an eye on my BP. That’s what I thought they might suggest. I’m also happy that it’s not lipoedema or lymphoedema. So, phew! One less thing to low level stress over.

That’s great news! I recently halved my BP medication too and so far so good. I did have some leg swelling to begin with (when I first started the medication) but it went down after I’d been on the medication for a few months.

user593 · 12/09/2026 14:47

I was going to add it’s curious but I suppose all part of looking after yourself better that I’ve found myself more willing to deal with medical-related things I should have done ages ago (mainly cancer screening) since losing weight. I’m currently waiting back on some results which I’m sure will be fine but it’s still a bit scary 🙈

SilenceInside · 12/09/2026 21:58

@user593 I'm still not keen to go for medical things! But the leg is annoying me and was slightly worrying me, and as vain as it sounds I was worried about people noticing that one of my legs was twice the size of the other.

I hope the cancer screening is clear for you, then it's done and dusted and can be filed away!

Theringcycle · 12/09/2026 22:38

Hi everyone. @Janie934 I’m so sorry for your diagnosis and for your struggles with fertility. I hope things work out for you in every way that you want.

@Castlebark i think we might have been on the same starting group - you’re doing so well! Slower progress for me of about a pound a week on average, which I am happy with - I’m prescribed for diabetes so I’ll not be going above 5mg unless I decide to ask for a private prescription to top-up, and my health markers are hugely improved which I’m delighted with.

Couple of NSV:

  • bought my first size 18 trousers in DECADES. Literally since I was a teen. They fit snugger than the style is meant to, but I’ll take that
  • going to a funeral soon and dug out a dress from 14 years ago when I was my slimmest since I was a teen, and… it fits wonderfully.
  • was at a kids party today and in the photos taken I just look… unremarkable size-wise. Not skinny, but just… like one of the group of mums.
MoneyJo · 13/09/2026 04:10

Well done @Theringcycle
I relate about the photo. I have so many phoros where I stand out for looking so big. Now, even though I've still got about 4 stone to lose, I don't stand out for being so big. I'm much more willing to be in a photo now.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/09/2026 04:39

So 10 days ago I said Id finally had some movement on the scales (6-7 weeks at 11st7 the. 11st5) . I'm not weighing in 11st4/11st4.5

So possibly half a pound difference in 10 days but I'm consistently weighly that little lower

Rhise saying earlier how different it can be towards the end... it so is for me! I'd expected it to slow down the pace but hadnt realised how much it would slow and how begrudgingly id lose weight this side of bmi 25. I thought id be able to go down the doses..

Instead I have gone from 8 9 to 12 over the space of a few weeks and have now had 2 weeks at 12.

I'm definitely feeling it! Have had sulphur burps again and generally don't want to eat as much . Id got so used to a pattern with healthier meals and a good balance and I don't want to eat this little long term. Im a bit worried ill have to!

I have 5lbs to go to be not overweight. But I think that may take until Xmas now and I had hoped to have a margin.

Nsv though. I went to a seasalt shop and tried on.... so much! The joy of going to a shop and feeling and looking just ... normal was huge. And not even wanting their biggest sizes.

This was so much fun and I have overspent. I am pretty sure even if j lost a stone these dresses would still fit me... so hopefully not a waste.

And! Ive brought a pair of just ordinary jeans. Because they fit! Nothing special and not smart or going out ones.. but first pair of jeans in over 10 years.

My stomach still makes the jeans 2 sizes bigger than the dresses... but .. its no longer sticking out qiote as much as it was and making sizing impossible.

O actually liked my profile in the dresses and wearing rhe smaller size than i ahd been made me realise I quite like how it looks profile wise!!!

Naked... i have all the flab on my stomach as well as loose skin... but with the right clothes its less of an issue.

I am finding exercise fun too. Being physically able to move is a world away from where I was when I started.

And... arm pits. I finally realise what people mean here!

I love being able to curl up on the sofa again and twist into different postions.

By Xmas j will be 2 years in.

Year one lost 8st 1 (13st 10)
Since Jan i have lost 2st 6 over 8 months (and mostky early on!).... so different!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 13/09/2026 09:33

That feeling of 'normal'is the best, isn't it! My daughter is starting a new musical theatre group today so I'll be meeting a new group of mums, and I realised last night that they won't know that I used to be fat, which is such a weird feeling.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/09/2026 09:38

Grrr I shouldn't post in the middle of the night. All the typos!

I've been feeling that at work. New staff this year and I started part way through my journey. So they never knew the very big me.

Its so so different isn't it.

Yes! Photos. I am halfway or thereabouts but happy to be photographed now. Took a huge trip with a friend this summer and have photos of me everywhere smiling and having fun. A year ago the photos would have all been of buildings and landscapes. So very pleased with this change.

TragicMuse · 13/09/2026 11:28

Very much hard agree on what you say @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I had a week of not tracking calories, truly didn’t go madly off-piste, and yet gained 3-4lbs! I didn’t eat the calories required to do that - I couldn’t have. I’d have had to be chomping butter for hours at a time and, well, I wasn’t!

And it’s taken me weeks to lose that gain. I’ve finally had a loss this week, but I’ve also gone up to 12.5mg and felt a bit rough at the beginning of the week. I was on 10 every 5 days, I’m now on 12.5 and back to a weekly schedule.

80 weeks, 12.5mg.

SW 19st 4lbs (Jan 2025, pre-MJ)
SW on MJ 18st 11.5lbs (1 Mar 2025)
CW 11st 2lbs
Change this week 2lbs
Total loss 114lbs/8st 2lb

Oh but the shopping!

@renegadekeeblerelf, also agree with you about meeting people who have never known one as anything other than who they see now.

I feel as though I am in my true form. The person I am meant to be. And I actually feel attractive. Pretty, even.

That’s quite a weird thing!

PearlsTeapot · 13/09/2026 12:54

Scales are finally moving for me at around a pound a week, now at 14.9 so 205lbs. Can’t wait to see 199 on the scale!

I don’t avoid photos anymore either. Lovely feeling.

PearlsTeapot · 13/09/2026 12:55

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden how awesome to be able to go clothes shopping properly, and to get jeans! Well done you!

The jeans. Ten years, and then a pair of ordinary ones that simply fit — that's the whole post right there. And walking into a shop and not reaching for their biggest size. Congratulations, properly.
One thing on the worry, because you named it and it's a fair one: what you're eating at this dose is a medication effect, not a preview of what you'll need to eat to hold on to this. Appetite near the top of a dose range and appetite later are two different things, and people are often surprised by how much room there is once they're not there any more.
What carries forward is the shape of what you eat rather than the amount. And when appetite is that low, protein is the one to guard — it's the first thing that gets quietly crowded out when you're eating less, and it's what protects the muscle underneath all that new movement you're enjoying. If one thing gets priority right now, make it that.
The sulphur burps are worth mentioning to your prescriber if they hang around. Not dangerous, just miserable — and not something you have to simply put up with.
Being able to curl up on the sofa again. That's not a small thing at all.

PearlsTeapot · 13/09/2026 18:51

We have an armchair that I sit in curled up every day now. We’ve had it about 4 years and I’ve never fit in it but now there’s enough room for me and a dog to curl up in. I love it! 😍

PearlsTeapot · 13/09/2026 18:53

Glad all ok @SilenceInside and you made it to the doctors. Hope reducing your meds helps!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/09/2026 19:26

@PearlsTeapot Yay for curling up! It's so good isn't it :) Love the image of you and your dogcurled up :)
Yay for photos! I still don't quite recognise myself as a slimmer person yet.

@TragicMuse We're in such a similar place aren't we - and similar weight too! I do feel I can be so much more "me" now and live as I want to.

@SandraFunctionalNutritionalTherapist Not sure I've seen you on this thread before - are you joining us as you have 10+ stone to lose too? Or you have? Would love to hear about your journey!

Re some of your reply - it almost reads like a chat-grpt cheerling post! All lovely and positive, but this is a support thread for those losing 10+stone. I've been on this nearly 2 years so very used to sulphur burps etc!
