I like raspberries for fibre.

Ooh, yes, they're always a part of my breakfast if I'm having yoghurt & fruit.

childfreebychoice · 12/10/2026 16:27

I've just realised I didn't check in her last week, though I didn't have much to update on anyway as my weight stayed the same. Fortunately today's weigh in was better with a 2lb loss. Hoping for the same next week as that will bring me to 2 stone down.

Start date: 15 June 2026
Starting weight: 18st 7lb
Current weight: 16st 9lb
Loss so far: 1 stone 12lb
Initial target weight: 12st 6lb

Well it's a good supplement to take anyway, for muscles and sleep etc. And Mag Citrate is a natural but fairly gentle osmotic laxative, ie it draws water into the bowels. So if you take it at night, regularly, it should help prevent constipation and help sleep. The cheaper Mag Oxide does the same (usually what you'll find in eg supermarket magnesium supplements), but it's not as well absorbed by the body and not as gentle!

However don't take mag citrate if things start trending in the other direction for any reason! Magnesium Glycinate doesn't have the same laxative effect, but has all the other benefits. I always have both to hand.

Hatty65 · 12/10/2026 21:45

@GiveMeWordGames When I hit peri-menopause I heard that you should take Magnesium to help with sleep so I took high doses of supermarket magnesium - I didn't know there was a difference in that and Glycinate.

I genuinely thought I might have bowel cancer at one point...reading posters on the back of lavatory doors about 'changes in your bowels'. Then I googled 'What are the side effects of Magnesium' and cured myself by stopping taking it. 😂

GiveMeWordGames · 12/10/2026 22:23

Oh, yep magnesium oxide will do that. 😁😬It's literally the main ingredient in one of the things you can get prescribed for bad constipation, I forget the name.

Pre MJ I had mild IBS and it took me a while and some research to realise that Glycinate was only only magnesium compound that didn't make it worse.

Only since MJ have I actively chosen the Citrate version for the exact reason I avoided it before!

Thanks @GiveMeWordGames - As always, the voice of reason🙂 I’m gradually adjusting to the idea of not keeping every tent like, swamping piece of clothing. And you are right - there will be something available now if the weight starts creeping on. Only a shame as I refreshed my autumn wardrobe just before going on MJ last year. 3 new coates and a good few pairs of trousers and a couple of good quality wool jumpers.
They all look wrong now, trousers totally unuseable. Will have to accept they’ll be going to Vinted sadly.

Interesting info re different types of magnesium. Didn’t know that, but then I’ve never had a problem with constipation.

Always thought though that broccoli had the opposite effect🙂 @Twizzletoe

So I've had a lovely long weekend away in Lancashire - but am paying the price for 2 x holidays by getting a whopper of a cold... 🤦‍♀️🙄 So I'm coughing and spluttering and awake at ridiculous o'clock..!

4lbs of the 5lbs I gained last week have gone though - hurrah! And I think the last lb is basically snot 😬

NSV: I'm going to a wedding on Sunday, so tried on the dress I got in June for my friend's wedding - I was nervous in case it was too small now (which obvs makes no sense, but has always been the way in the past!) and it fits really well - is looser on me than it was in June, so is much more comfortable! I'll actually be able to sit down in it and breathe 😬

The aim for the rest of this month is to lose these 1 x remaining holiday lb, hopefully get rid of this cold and then finally lose one more lb to get to goal..!

I've been getting rid of clothes the minute anything is even a bit too big for me - psychologically that works for me, so that my self destructive brain can't think of those clothes as a safety net. In the past I kept everything, but have to think differently now - no going back... 💪💪💪

I'm debating whether to keep titrating slowly, or whether I'm jumping the gun? I was on 15mg a while ago and moved down to 12.5mg. Then for the last month I've stuck to 12.5mg but am injecting every 8 days to reduce the dose slightly that way.

My next pen is 10mg, so I thought I'd do 10mg a week for a couple of weeks and then move to every 8 days for the next couple of weeks. But what pen to order after this one? It almost seems scary to move down again to 7.5mg....

Will probably get another 10mg pen and hope that I'll be in the 24 BMI range and feeling confident by December, then move to 7.5mg in January, but it's a new, weird part of the process - I always want to stay on MJ, but need to find the level that keeps me on track and is affordable in the very long term (I retire in 2 years' time so am thinking ahead!).

I'm finally down another pound but mainly because I've had the runs for the last 24 hours!

LetitGoDLP · 14/10/2026 10:23

@MoneyJo not ideal but still it all helps.

I reached a milestone 4st loss today, means I am half way to a healthy bmi and my initial 8st loss target.
Lots of people are noticing now which is nice but also the lost time I lost a significant weight and the comments started it meant I took the pressure off and then piled it back on so onwards and downwards.

MooBaggage · 14/10/2026 10:46

@LetitGoDLP that's a brilliant landmark - congratulations!!

I completely relate to your comment re: when people notice that's when the weight starts going back on - for me, it was more a (stupid!) act of rebellion, somehow..? But..... being on a GLP1 is different and I tell myself this every day - we're in a different mindset and 'normal' people can take a compliment and not let it derail them - we are those people now 💪💪💪

So - keep going - halfway there!! 😍

HelenDenver · 14/10/2026 16:05

wow, well done @LetitGoDLP that's brilliant!

LetitGoDLP · 14/10/2026 19:10

Absolutely @MooBaggage this is normal and my life now. The last time I lost a lot of weight I was starving myself and over exercising neither of which are long term options.

MooBaggage · 15/10/2026 12:07

TAKE. THE. SHAME..... 🙄 This is a kind of NSV, but a really really embarrassing one that I can only tell you lot!

I had a GP appt today - have noticed a couple of lumps recently and went to get them checked out.

Turns out that one of the lumps (by my belly button) is that I can now feel the mesh and repair from an umbilical hernia op I had about 15 years ago, now there's no fat there....

And the other, on my upper chest, IS A RIB.... 🙄🙄🙄

I apologised to the GP soooo many times...! He said GPs are getting it a lot, when people who have lost lots of weight are starting to feel lumps and bumps that are actually bones. Aaaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh....

Ahem. To be fair to me, the rib one does have a bit of a spot on it, so is making that area feel sore - but honestly...!

MoneyJo · 15/10/2026 14:35

That's brilliant @MooBaggage !

Today I am officially 5 stone down since I cut down on sugar! 3 stone 9 since starting MJ in March. I know it's mostly because I had a bug which gave me the runs and I haven't eaten much since but hey, I have no idea when I was last at this weight so I'm taking it!

Hatty65 · 15/10/2026 15:53

@MooBaggage Brilliant news! I am someone who once went to the GP with pain in my breast/under arm fearing it was possibly breast cancer.

(I swear I'm not obsessed with getting cancer! But I come from a medical family and was brought up to get things checked early rather than hiding your head in the sand)

It turned out to be the underwire of my bra digging into me...

LetitGoDLP · 15/10/2026 16:44

@MooBaggage thats fantastic, likely a relieved GP too.

@MoneyJo amazing milestone, well done!

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 15/10/2026 16:52

Awesome result @MoneyJo - hope you are feeling well enough to appreciate your achievement properly!

Love your nsv @MooBaggage - the best sorts of lumps to have.

MooBaggage · 15/10/2026 20:26

@Hatty65 I love that re: the underwire - has made me feel a bit less daft! 😁

It's so strange though, having to get to know my body - I think a few people have said previously the last few lbs to lose really do make a difference to your body and I suppose I'm getting to that stage. It does feel different under my hands, iykwim?! I don't know it at all - but this will be the new normal so I'd better get used to bones!! 🤦‍♀️😬

So..... unexpectedly, as I'm still full of cold so not feeling at all wonderful, but TODAY IS THE DAY!!

13.1.25 SW 20st 3lbs BMI 43.0
15.10.26 CW 11st 10lbs BMI 24.9

So for the first time in my adult life, at the age of 57, I have a healthy BMI 😊😊😊

It's weird - I still have soooo many wobbly bits - am a size 14 (possibly 12-ish on the bottom!) and am thinking, is this what healthy looks like? I always thought it would be smaller?! But I'm tall, broad and I think this size is good for me. I'd love to have less loose skin, but tend to ignore it!

Next steps - I'd love to lose another 7lbs, to give myself wriggle room. 11st 3lbs would make me 23.9, so that's where I'll aim to get to, but in a much less bothered way..! Will definitely keep titrating down the doses over the next 6 months, to see if I can get down to 2.5mg and still be OK.

Crazy days! And I did promise myself some kind of treat.... I saw some amazing shoes on the Monsoon website last night and as I rarely buy anythinf new these days, I might treat myself on payday next week 😁😁😁
