Maintenance is a tough one, for sure!

That's what I started feeling once I went down to 2.5, @SecondCircuit . Which is why I made the decision to stay on for a while longer, at 5, and make it work financially. It wasn't my original plan but like you - and any of us on here - what I've achieved is precious and I don't want to fuck it up.

I'm thinking at least a year from when I hit this weight - give those fat cells time to forget they ever contained anything and let my body really start to believe it belongs where I am now and not where I started.

SecondCircuit · 09/10/2026 08:53

No, I don’t weigh food but I’m pretty good at judging calories and nutritional content after years of diets, slimming world, weight watchers, you name it (and I’m late 50. so pretty old wise owl..😏😁).
This was just an example, but I do eat a variety of foods, have no dietary or other restrictions, and like most things. I will eat any meat, fish, poultry, love vegetables even more. What I would consider my achievement on Mounjaro is that I can do without carbs or have very little of them now. I used to have lots of pasta, pizza, bread, naan, pita. I’m a fairly competent cook, cook from scratch and have probably too much love for food.
I still eat occasionally what the rest family have just far less.

I will have to summon more willpower. It will be a balancing act between urges and restrictions I suppose. Win some, lose some.

But enough of moaning. I will keep faith; and now wish you ladies all the best with steady losses on your journey to slimmer selves! ♥️

HelenDenver · 09/10/2026 09:01

I hear you on the carbs - it’s definitely been the easiest food group for me to cut/drop on the MJ!

Food is a great joy and I kinda miss baking (for itself as a soothing activity). I still sometimes do it and have one and leave the rest for everyone else. I am convinced half the reason “low cal brownies” or whatever are low cal not because they are made with cottage cheese or something random, but cos the recipe cuts them into twice as many portions as a “normal” recipe 😀

SecondCircuit · 09/10/2026 09:10

Yes, agree @GiveMeWordGames , I remember reading somewhere long time ago that maintaining should take the same time as losing the weight. So in most cases and certainly in mine 1 year.

@HelenDenver - I was trying the idea of the cheddar piece around 11 but it had the opposite effect😂- got my hunger incensed and made me eat my lentils too!

Hard won and precious our weight loss is as @GiveMeWordGames says so I shall persevere😁
Thank you ladies for kind words and encouragement. I don’t know what I would do without this thread.
♥️🦋

@SecondCircuit , i could have written your posts - word for word. Except in addition to a massive appetite, I am also an emotional eater.
I have moved to maintaining, I do not want to lose anymore weight.

I am weaning MJ very very very slowly going down by 0.25mg every two months (well that's the plan) because like you, I can already feel my appetite returning and I am so very very worried of putting the weight back on.

I also wonder if I would be able to come off Mj, time will tell. At the moment, i am thinking of weaning even slower than every 2 months. I am hoping that longer periods on the minutely reduced doses would bring about my body gradually learning to do it itself. I am currently on 4mg. I will be on Mj for a while yet but the plan is to come off eventually. Fingers crossed.

I find maintaining much tougher than losing weight. I have to still watch my calories, I have to keep up with my activity/ workouts, monitor my protein intake, water intake and I can't 'just have one ice-cream'. It will lead to many many more ice-creams and a binge that would last for weeks.
Keeping that balance of looking and staying healthy with not overeating, is not easy.

MooBaggage · 09/10/2026 12:45

I'm back from a 7 night cruise - so many posts to catch up on 😁

I was showing as 5lbs heavier the morning after I got back... 🙄 Have got rid of 2 of those within 24 hours, but am now going away for a long weekend, so am kind of writing the rest off until I get back on Monday - and then it's back to normal for the rest of October.

I really took the brakes off on the cruise- ate and drank more than usual - actually had 3 meals a day, which was novel! It was weird eating more, and a bit scary that I could do it so easily...

But I immediately have got back to normal habits from the moment I got back home, which is reassuring - I think this is how 'normal' people behave - let loose on holiday and then get back into the good habits.

So, this weekend will be fun and then I'll work to get back to where I was by the end of October 👍💪💪💪

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

@Onegramatatime - thank you so much for your post and articulating my exact problems so much.
And welcome back @MooBaggage - we’ve missed you a lot , we all contribute but you are the glue of this thread🥰

@Onegramatatime - I should have been more cautious. Going rapidly from 7.5 to 5mg was foolish. My appetite is back in full vengeance, I can see that now very clearly (my lunch today was had at 12 not 13:20 and it was a plate piled with chicken chunks and and my italian herb carrot and leek stirfry, and I should be grateful I managed to resisted carbs).

Your words re having one ice cream leading to many weeks of overindulgence are very acutely reminding me of my demons. I can have one self indulgent, excessive meal but more than that risks weeks and weeks of cycle of gluttony.

Apology for this miserable outpouring. I don’t mean to discourage anyone. Weight loss is so much worth doing and my joy of being slim and slender, yes slender, even after 20 years - is so rewarding and feels absolutely terrific. Terrific- let me repeat that.
From vanity point of view (clothes, fashion choices, allure) to health benefits (getting to 60 😳 you start to be worried a bit ) to confidence (not to minimise that, I’ve missed 15 years, shying away from social engagements).

So I now understand to take it slowly. I will need to adjust titration and start micro dosing. Very slowly. I like myself slender rather a lot. 🥰

Hatty65 · 09/10/2026 15:29

Well I've lost 1lb this week. Sticking to 5mg as I find that I'm not suffering any side effects. All in all I've lost 1stone over my first 7 weeks which is good.

I still have an appetite - particularly by about day 5 of the jab so I wonder whether I'm on a high enough dose, but as long as I'm actually losing something I think I'll stay where I am. I'm eating pretty much what I used to food wise, but am probably having a half or 3/4 portion of what I used to. And definitely snacking less.

Yesterday I didn't get up til late morning (I have CFS) and lunch was home made soup with a slice of rye bread and then I had cabbage leaves, stuffed with pork mince and spiced rice for tea. I had one stuffed cabbage leaf, whereas normally I'd have had two and probably half the usual greedy helping of rice. I then had 0% Greek yoghurt with banana and blueberries and a bit of honey just before bed.

I know one of my issues is exhaustion and lack of movement, but I do have chronic fatigue and lots of days are spent on the sofa. It doesn't help with my weight, but I do try and potter outside for 15 or 20 mins a day if I can manage it.

Nice to have you back @MooBaggage your cruise sounds fab. We are away with friends in a couple of weeks in an AirBnB so I'm sure I'll be eating lovely food then!

@Hatty65 you're doing really well, especially given you have CFS. Exercise has such a negligible impact on weight loss - as long as you're eating below your TDEE you'll be losing. Weights are good to preserve muscle but you can only work with what you can comfortably/healthily do at this point.

Welcome back @MooBaggage . Sounds like you made the most of the cruise lifestyle. 😁

HelenDenver · 09/10/2026 19:12

Made myself a lush sweet potato feta and broccoli side dish today - 4 portions to put on the side of fish/scrambled eggs/ chicken.

HelenDenver · 10/10/2026 08:32

Official weekend weigh in and I’m dead on 99kg, yay! Next goal is bmi 35 or 95kg, whichever comes first.

Dinner out tonight and lunch out tomorrow so will be making careful choices.

Cheesecake53 · 10/10/2026 08:53

That's great @HelenDenver, onwards and downwards!

HelenDenver · 10/10/2026 08:58

Thanks @Cheesecake53 how are your rogue scales/floorboards getting on?

LetitGoDLP · 10/10/2026 10:52

@HelenDenver well done!

Cheesecake53 · 10/10/2026 13:09

I am still weighing in the hallway, @HelenDenver :). But , all week I hoovered around the same kg, increasing my calories did not help, but yesterday I went back to 2 meals, I admit increasing mounjaro helped, and today I am 300g lighter at 99.6kg!

HelenDenver · 10/10/2026 13:14

Well done!!

LetitGoDLP · 10/10/2026 15:25

Go @Cheesecake53 grear coincidence you’ve both gone below the 100kg at the same time.

I had a double edged NSV today, went to Softplay and flew down the slide so flipping fast without my extended bottom gripping the edges 😂

Cheesecake53 · 10/10/2026 16:40

WoooHooo @LetitGoDLP that is great!

LetitGoDLP · 10/10/2026 17:48

@Cheesecake53 it really was, once I’d gotten used to my newfound speed. The children were loving it.

GiveMeWordGames · 11/10/2026 13:47

I love that @LetitGoDLP !

I've been swapping my summer clothes to winter. Back in May I put my size 20 jeans in the storage boxes with the rest of my winter stuff. I'm finally going to send them off to the charity shop but I just had to take a couple of these old classic weightloss types of photo, that before MJ I never dreamed I would be able to do.

These were too tight when I started. 'scuse the mess behind me, like I said, wardrobe swap day. 😁

That's fabulous @GiveMeWordGames

Twizzletoe · 11/10/2026 19:58

0.6kg down this week after my second 2.5mg injection. Been somewhat constipated despite prunes and broccoli! Picked at a few unnecessary carbs in work today. Haven’t been tracking calories last two days due to working and difficulty in proportioning share of recipes. Overall pleased and third injection today.

SecondCircuit · 12/10/2026 08:33

Superb figure @GiveMeWordGames !!🎉💃
I’m still unsure about chucking away my “big” clothes… not fully believing I’ll keep that weight for good.. Have done some clearing, but those were mostly things that were worn out or out of favour.

0.6kg down in a week is great @Twizzletoe but I would increase water intake (ar 3 l daily) keep the prunes (not in excess though) but chuck the broccoli for constipation.
What I find helps is drinking before a meal, eating slowly, milky coffee and kiwis🥝🥝

GiveMeWordGames · 12/10/2026 09:04

@SecondCircuit I've felt much the same hence the jeans still being in my seasonal storage. And I did exactly that at first - only chucked the stuff that was knackered or I'd never really liked but kept because I thought beggars couldn't be choosers when I was big.

I can only put so much in the loft though and I've kept some interim sizes from my journey downwards. I have similar fears about keeping the weight off for good. But if my weight does start to creep up, I hope I would act sooner rather than later now there are so many WLI options - and probably even more coming. So the 20s are gone, some 16s and the odd 18 stay.

@Twizzletoe you're off to a good start! Have I bored you about magnesium citrate for constipation yet? 😁 I don't like kiwis unfortunately which makes me an outlier on this thread!!
