Im so mixed up right now.

Today has been a "good" day for the tablets. Ive felt really good suppression and not snacked at all. Ate healthy and drank 2ltrs of water.
Other days have been rubbish where I feel like I haven't taken anything.

I REALLY dont want to waste money on the 4mg if they may me feel terrible knowing that I'll have to wait a whole month to be able to order a lower dose again BUT I really do to want to keep wasting money on the 1.5mg if I just get weeks where they do nothing...so confused 😕

Does anyone know if you can take two 1.5mg a day?

Fishhooksandjellybabies · 06/08/2026 22:15

@user1468915974 the trouble is that taking 2 x 1.5mgs will cost a lot more than just moving up to 4mgs. You could try the 4mgs and if need be cut it in half or take it every other day until you body adapts. I'm starting 4mgs tomorrow with everything crossed and will adapt accordingly if necessary but I don't want to pay out all this money to lose just 4lbs a month - I was hoping for double that!

Chickadeeinme · 07/08/2026 02:46

I just heard that my doctor at the weight management clinic managed to get my insurance company to approve the 9mg dose, which means that it will only cost me $50 a month instead of the. $147 I have been paying for the 1.5mg and then the 4mg. Hooray!

Roundisashape · 07/08/2026 05:13

I started the 4mg after 25 days of 1.5. I felt fine.

Perhaps I'm being unfair to the tablets, I have definitely smacked less and think about food less. This has not translated into weightloss probably as when I do eat nothing has changed. I think I've been eating just over maintenance for years. So unless I actively create a deficit nothing will change.

When I get back from hols I'm going to start to plan better and eat 3 set meals a day ideally at set times. The tablets are such that I can, if planned, probably convince myself to eat really healthily. But once I'm hungry all I want is something quick easy and comforting (bread 😝).

Hi all. I’m on day17 of 1.5. Been calorie tracking, working out every day and making better choices. I’ve lost 4.5kg taking me from an obese bmi to overweight! Only another 10 kg to go to get to the healthy range! I’ve had some suppression on 1.5 and no terrible side effects (bloating in the first week, occasional nausea) and am mulling about the jump to 4.

Florabella · 07/08/2026 13:00

I’m on day 3 of 4mg and definitely feeling more effects of appetite suppression and feel a bit crap if I eat too much. The one thing I still feel like eating is chocolate, but only a little so that’s good. Pleased it finally feels like it’s having an effect! No side effects really

I think this is really essential. Especially if you’re old like me (or even over about 30!) you’re losing muscle mass. Muscle uses more calories than fat, so the more muscle you build the more calories you use. Also you need the protein to build muscle mass, and you need the calorie deficit to lose weight. It’s a fairly tight needle to thread! I’m getting 5000 steps a day in, which helps, but I find the protein bit the hardest because I really don’t like shakes and smoothies.

Yesterday I had an Oikos triple zero yogurt plus strawberries, blueberries and a quarter cup of a protein cereal for breakfast. I had two thin slices of Dave’s killer bread (120 calories) with a can of sardines drained and mashed with a tablespoonful of ketchup, four grape tomatoes, half an apple and half a mandarin orange (DH had the other half) for lunch and we ate out in the evening so I had a 6oz steak, broccoli and a small portion of garlic mashed potatoes for dinner, and after I got home I had a Healthy Choice fudge bar (100 calories). That plus milk in my tea added up to a slightly light day on calories at about 1250, and 91.5g of protein, and I genuinely didn’t feel hungry.

wegogovy · 08/08/2026 09:41

I’ve decided to do another month on the initial dose, I’m losing weight steadily with minimal side effects so I’m reluctant to change.

Fishhooksandjellybabies · 08/08/2026 09:56

I lost 4lbs in the first month on 1.5mgs thankfully with no side effects whatsover. I have started 4mgs today. I'm really hoping for at least 8lbs in the forthcoming month otherwise I don't think I can justify the cost to be honest. I am going to try cutting refined carbs to see if that helps.

After being a sugar monster all my life I have managed to drastically reduce it in my diet. I’m still working on increasing my protein though

ilovebagpuss · 08/08/2026 10:59

I used to have Friday night for wine and scoffing night and lately I just don't fancy wine, and I had a small bowl of ice cream which immediately made me feel sick.

Starting the 4mg on Monday so will see. Lost 2kg this month so not amazing but then I don't feel I have done anything like exercise or calorie counting so it was a good loss for no effort.

I’ve just reordered at 1.5mg again but annoyed I’ve left it a bit late without realising! Have been away and only have 2 pills left, and now my order has been sitting waiting approval for the last 36 hours. I’m going to run out!

I’ve stuck to 1.5 as have had a rubbish month with a raging ear infection and 2 trips away so really haven’t been able to focus properly and have done no exercise. I’m down 4kg all the same which is fine and I definitely have less starving hunger!

Pls pray for my approval and quick delivery! What an idiot - I thought I’d get a reminder about re-ordering!

My new pack arrived just in time!! Hurrah!

So another month on 1.5 adding in better exercise and no holiday. I’m hoping for a kg a week minimum. Let’s go!

Roundisashape · 08/08/2026 14:59

How exciting I've lost another 2lbs 🎉. Got to say I was hoping for a rather better result than 2lbs a month 🤣. Still 25 days of this one to go though so there's hope yet.

@Fishhooksandjellybabies I've just ordered my 4mg.
Like you, I'm going to need to see a decent loss this next month because it's just cost me £120 which isn't sustainable.
Im finding a bit more fullness if I drink water but the 1.5mg definitely wasn't stopping me from being naughty.
Let us know how you feel and what you're eating. Good luck 👍🏻

AndCallMeNancy · 08/08/2026 23:10

I started 4mg today. No side effects so far and definitely more suppression, no hunger at all and no food noise. But I’ve eaten healthily at mealtimes and found it fine, not impossible to eat or anything.

I was finding 1.5mg gave me some suppression anyway and I feel I’ve been one of the lucky ones as lost about half a stone in the first month on 1.5mg…. but don’t feel any bloody thinner yet sadly!

Roundisashape · 09/08/2026 13:38

4mg certainly seems to be having more of an affect. I'm another 2lbs down today. I know I shouldn't weigh daily but the scales were there so I hopped on. I am not thinking about food and have found myself to be full for quite long periods. So much so that I'm now questioning if I've eaten lunch too close to my dinner out this evening - time will tell. 8 days on 4mg so will see if it continues, or like with the 1.5 I find a way to power through.

Chickadeeinme · 09/08/2026 18:32

I have another week left on 4 mg and now I have the 9mg to start on - but my DD and her DH and two DGD are coming to visit for a week the day after I start. Would I be unreasonable to start a few days early to make sure I feel OK? I only see her once or twice a year (different continents) and I want to be in good shape for it.

Roundisashape · 09/08/2026 22:08

@Chickadeeinme I'd start early. I did the same moving up to 4mg for my holiday. It was needless as I've felt fine, but I would do the same again as wouldn't want to risk it.
You can always use the left over tablets on the way back down the mg's.

Roundisashape · 09/08/2026 22:14

I have to say 4mg has taken me by surprise. After my experience on the 1.5 I had become a bit skeptical. But 8 days in on the 4, my ability to eat has reduced dramatically. Don't get me wrong, I can still find space for a square of chocolate, but otherwise I have to plan out my meals to ensure there is enough of a gap. If I push it too far I do feel sick. But I'm so full I can't bear to push it.

Florabella · Yesterday 06:25

@Roundisashape. I feel the same about the 4mg. I think we were pretty similar on the 1.5 too. I also have no interest in drinking wine, which feels strange when I go out

Roundisashape · Yesterday 07:44

I've read a lot about people losing their taste for alcohol with the tablets. I've found beer repulsive since taking them but can still drink gin and tonics and cocktails with a certain worrying ease! Had to give up wine years ago. Strangely I found that very easy once I'd decided.

Laska2Meryls · Yesterday 08:34

I have been reading about the half an hour window between taking the tablet and eating. Apparently the body can take up to 90 mins to fully absorb the semiglutinide and the makers decided to stick to half an hour as it seems that asking for a longer wait would be impractical for users.
Also even diluting it with black tea or coffee in that time could means less absorbtion. Apparently even a little food too early means that you may not absorb any of the drugs.

I do tend to take mine really early as I wake early but it could be why sometimes when I haven't waited more than an hour before drinking or eating I gave felt more hunger and why some people are reporting that they are not really feeling any different on it.
I have lost 6lbs on the first month so am happy on that , but just posting this because I thought that it would be useful . I'll put up a link to the article on separately.

Here is the article I read. Its quite clear that the longer you can wait after taking the tablet ( beyond the 30 minutes) the better . As these cost so much , I thought it important to share.
Apparently the injections do not have this problem. Im happier with the tablets, and OK with the restriction as I take them so early . But I probably does explain why some days I have that I have had more hunger supression and felt fuller than other days , especially on the 4mg tablets which I have now started . ( I don't buy mine from this company, it was just one of the articles that came up in a search when I put in 'Wegovy tablets half an hour' and looks well researched)

user1468915974 · Yesterday 10:42

@Florabella @Roundisashape
Im moving to 4mg on Wednesday and it seems my experience has been quite similar to yours with the 1.5mg. I cant touch wine now but I do like sweet gins with diet mixers.

Im just praying for minimal side effects with the 4mg and decided that Im going to try for 15mins a day on a crosstrainer (every little helps). Also found the article from @Laska2Meryls really interesting.

I can handle the 30min wait but because my partner always makes me a coffee before work and I haven't told him about the tablets, he would know straight away that something wasn't right if I didn't have my usual coffee. Otherwise I would have no issue with waiting over an hour to make sure the tablet fully absorbed.

Fishhooksandjellybabies · Yesterday 11:09

@Laska2Meryls thank you so much for sharing that! I'm certain you are right and it is best to wait at least an hour after taking the tablet before ingesting anything else at all - even water. I have only recently figured out that I have better suppression the longer I wait after taking the pill but thought it was something peculiar to me. I am on day 3 of 4mgs and have already lost 2lbs [having only lost 4lbs in a whole month of 1.5mgs]. I think I'll try to extend the hour I'm currently waiting to an hour and a half and see if it makes any difference. I won't find this particularly bothersome as I'm a very early riser, retired and DH knows I'm taking the pills so won't think it odd if I delay my morning cuppa or daily meds. I realise it won't be a very easy option for a lot of people though. Good luck everyone.
