My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

I need some advice !
I did 4 weeks of 2.5 and 2 weeks of 3.75 from a 5 pen …. Off on holiday for a week on Friday and due to jab tomororw . Will I just go for the 5 and hope for the best ? I don’t want to be sick on the flight , but it’s Friday evening……. I could even jab tonight ? I won’t be bringing a pen with me . What do you all reckon ? Suppression Has been good up to today but haven’t really lost this week and don’t want to put up to much on holidays ( and it’s Italy !)

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 09/06/2026 21:34

@TeamsThemeTune what about tinned tuna or prawns, they are protein heavy and can I say a big thanks to the PP who recommended the Barebell Protein choc bars which are so yummy!

I do eat tuna and prawns, but there's only so much I can force down. No-one wants to be eating prawns for breakfast.

Oh, and amongst all of the massive list things I don't like, sweet stuff is right up there, so those protein bars are out too. I never realised how many things I don't eat until now, and I've never considered myself particularly fussy before.

I know... I do it to myself. I'm in a bit of a funk at the moment to be honest. Ignore me. I really do appreciate all of the suggestions. You're all very kind.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 09/06/2026 21:55

It's fine to be in a funk @TeamsThemeTune It's very discombobulating to have our foods taken off us and its the night before jab day so im hungry to boot. We plod on.

Cece92 · 09/06/2026 23:53

Hi all hope everyone’s good! Sorry I abandoned the post after I joined 🙈 I done my second jab Sunday 2 days late as had stuff on over the weekend. So far okay I took a terrible migraine this morning didn’t even manage work. I don’t think it’s MJ related though as I am known for them. Felt a bit iffy yesterday but nothing like last week. I did lose 3lbs first week. Drinking and peeing like there’s no tomorrow. Have gone off loads of food lol everyone’s doing great 😊 loving the thread

So good aren’t they! Like a mars bar the chocolate caramel flavour! I tend to only eat half at a time but I want to buy the peanut ones as well as they’re apparently like snickers! Great for a sweet fix

Soooo good 🙏. I only eat half as well, a whole one is too much on a restricted diet. It gave me the burps. Ive just reordered but will look at the peanut next time.

NettleTea · 10/06/2026 09:40

my sweet tooth has disappeared completely and chocolate was my downfall.
Yesterday I ate the leftover end of a cucumber and found it delicious, and I dont even like cucumber

Im having some interesting thoughts about hormones and endocrine signallers being stored in fat cells, and being released into the body - causing emotional shifts relative to what you had going on at the time they were bundled up in those adipose tissues. This was triggered by reports of women having periods after not having had them. Oestrogen is one of the main hormones, so that kind of makes sense.

3oldladiesstuckinalavatory · 10/06/2026 14:47

I’ve gained weight! How? Can’t get my head around it. It’s not hormones, I’m several years past menopause. Anyone else have this? I am also hungry a lot of the time, but I just crave crunchy carbs - cereal is my nemesis.

Anyone else feel like they’re doing it wrong? 😂

GeraldThePufferSponge · 10/06/2026 19:08

Evening all! Just finished week two on 2.5mg and I’ve lost a stone - I’ve tons to lose though so that explains it!
Currently struggling to get enough protein in - the only protein shakes I can find that I like are the clear whey ones but they’re £17-odd for a carton with 10 servings in. Although having said that I always found the money for a takeaway or wine so 🤣

Popstarrrrr · 10/06/2026 20:41

Great to see everyone's good losses.
I'm on week three and struggling a bit. I was ill towards the end of last week. Runny tummy and horrible cramps. I don't know if it was the mounjaro or something I ate. It happened after eating a Morrisons pizza when I'd been eating far cleaner over the previous week. I still jabbed on Sunday. I was away so wasn't able to weigh myself until today.

My tummy has meant I haven't been able to eat much so dropped some weight. Probably also helped by my period ending. I have one more 2.5 jab left. Not sure if I go up to 5. Maybe I'll see if my tummy settles.

SW 76.6 KG
CW 74.2 KG

Popstarrrrr · 10/06/2026 20:50

Oops SW wrong
SW 77kg
CW 74.2
GW 65kg

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 10/06/2026 20:53

So on weigh in today (2nd week) I was 85.3kg, down from a SW of 87.6kg. So 2.3kg loss. Happy with that.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 10/06/2026 20:54

Period delayed a few days but its brewing. I'd normally be heavier around this time of month and so im guessing I might go up in week 3...

TeamsThemeTune · 10/06/2026 21:29

Blimey @GeraldThePufferSponge that's impressive!
@Hillsmakeyoustrong nice and steady.
@3oldladiesstuckinalavatory Weight can fluctuate by a couple of pounds or more each day - don't be disheartened. We're all just one big poo/wee/baguette away from a pleasing number on the scales! That's what I tell myself anyway.

Christ, I really miss baguettes...😫

MrsBuntyS · 10/06/2026 21:55

hi everyone! Im going for the golden dose on my first 2.5mg pen tomorrow. DH forced it for me using pliers… hope it works it’s gone almost round to 1 so hopefully it will be ok. I have an extra needle so hoping it will work! Also have this insulin needles if it doesn’t. I’ve been injecting weekly for 8 years - methotrexate for RA so I’m very used to it. Some times it bruises, sometimes it doesn’t.

I’ve lost about 6.5kgs in 4 weeks. I have been religiously counting calories though and using MFP. I am still getting good supression although not as good as at the start. I am feeling hungrier so I am going to stay at 2.5mg for another month. My tolerance for sweet things has completely gone which is good and I’m also totally off prawn cocktail which I used to love. I have also had to give up coffee and pretty much all raw veg esp tomatoes as I can’t manage the heartburn. I’ve always had terrible digestion and have been guzzling omeprazole and gaviscon.

I’m eating protein yoghurts, ready made shakes but then also a lot of lean meat, eggs and fish. I am a keen cook so have been making lean meat with loads of veg without any butter cream or sauce. I am also a coeliac so I’m using not being able to eat what I want!

I just need to started exercising more or at all. I think I can eat so few calories as I am not massively active as I WFH. I am worried about gallstones and hair loss though!!! Anyway hopefully things will keep going ok! Wishing you all the best. We CAN DO THIS!

CherryViper · 11/06/2026 00:52

Sticking to around 1000 calories, logging all food and drink. I have lost 7.2lb in four weeks. A bit disappointed with that, albeit Google says I'm almost on track 8lb projected weight loss.

I couldn't do the golden dose so have stared on 5mg tonight..

Wondering if you're exceeding your net carbs? On my tracker, I have my calorie allowance but I have allowances for protein, net carbs and fat. Apparently, if you exceed any of them, it affects weight loss. I had no idea! Anyway, my loss is deliberately slower so I have ok allowances for all of them and don't get too hungry. The protein makes sure of that.

Thanks for this, that’s really good to know. I’m going with a cheap as chips pharmacy and they don’t send any info! I don’t think I did overdo the carbs until I looked at the scale and plunged back into emotional eating…. I’m back on track again now and that pesky gain has gone again.

It’s all a bit of a leaning curve isn’t it?

Im nearly 3 weeks in to all this and I’m picking it up slowly, but so far this is what I have learned:

Drink loads of water
Aim for 90g protein (this is hard, but I’m 90ish Kg, so…)
Do weight training (been slacking on this so far)
Avoid fatty foods (not too hard, I don’t really like them)
Avoid nuts as snacks (even on MJ I can’t seem to eat sensible amounts)

What else should we be thinking about?

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 11/06/2026 08:53

Oh Med Express didn't send me that info. I use the free version of an app called cronometer. Have to put up with ads a bit but its quite good for tracking. Im bad with fat, thats the one I exceed with my milkshakes, cheese and choc caramel protein bar 😆

Im walking first as I did NO exercise, Ill start strength training week 3 or 4 and it will be gentle rowing, (unfortunately, I gave away my mini trampoline. I was going to watch TV at the same time but I couldn't follow the programme with the jumping up and down 😂 so off it went)

I drink less tea and coffee as ive gone off them and that means less teaspoons of sugar which I think can only help. I don't drink so I don't have that sugar to worry about.

See how you get on with cutting your net carbs.

Boreded · 11/06/2026 09:33

so I didn’t update on my weigh in yesterday as I was poorly (vomiting) and I was on a work offsite.

wheb I got back u weighed in, predictably I lost a bunch because of the vomiting so I’m expecting a rebound, but for now:

Week 0: 270.0

Week 1: 262.0 (-8.0)

Week 2: 258.2 (-3.8)

Week 3: 254.6 (-3.6)

Week 4: 251.4 (-3.2)

Week 5: 246.6 (-4.8)

Total loss: 23.4 lb

Average loss: 4.68 lb per week

MrsBuntyS · 11/06/2026 10:59

Just did the golden dose, I decided it was safer to draw off the medication from the pen with an insulin syringe and it worked well. I got the 0.6ml out and it looks like there’s actually possibly another full dose in the pen so am pleased I did it this way! No problem injecting with the syringe, it is a longer needle but I went into the flab on my tummy with no issues or pain at all!

A sneaky weigh in this morning looks like I’ve gained weight this week too! I’m drinking water like there’s no tomorrow and home that it shifts before official weight in tomorrow

I’m putting mine down to going up in weights for my strength training because I’ve not eaten anything differently

Same. Although I've got such strong suppression I'm having to force myself to eat twice a day, and I can't eat much before I'm full. So I'm trying to keep my protein up, and I've cut out almost all refined/processed food and "obvious" carbs. I know there's carbs in most things - milk, yoghurt, etc., even fruit, but I mean obvious things like bread, potatoes, cereal, pasta, rice, etc. I gained 1lb last week and it still hasn't shifted. I'm long past being hormonal, and I'm not constipated, so god knows what's going on! I stepped up to .5mg this week and jabbed on Monday. Hopefully it will make a difference to weight loss, but as I said I'm having to force food down as it is, so don't know if it's going to change anything.

This is my 5th week (4 x .25, 1 x .5) and I've lost 5.5 lbs. I did better than that at good old slimming world. At this rate it's going to be VERY expensive to get to my target.

I know I need to up my activity because I sit at a desk all day. But my previous experience is that exercise doesn't make a lot of difference to my weight loss. We'll see. At least the side effects have been minimal for me. I'm on another thread for mounjaro users and they're experiencing the same slow losses as us, but some of them are getting dreadful side effects.
