My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

I ordered 5mg for my second pen... but am starting to worry that maybe I was too hasty.

Haven't had any bad side effects (apart from having a harder time doing cardio as my heartrate is up) but felt by the second week of mounjaro that the suppression was really waning and cravings were coming back. So when it came time to order I went up.

I'm four days into my third dose of 2.5 and it hit me like a train this week! Barely had any appetite at all and quite a lot of burping/heartburn/headaches. I have my fourth and final 2.5 coming up on Saturday night (moved the injection timing a little from Sunday morning).

Thinking about click counting to 3.75 to see how it goes.

I lost 12 lbs in the first week and 1.5 lbs in the second week.

Did you feel a difference in dose?

It was only last night so I don’t know yet, sorry.

i definitely don’t feel like a can judge properly right now though as I’m 99% that my body is trying to give me my first period in about 18m so hunger could be caused by that

Boreded · 03/06/2026 13:35

Not that anyone cares…but it was my period…ANNOYING!!!

Just sent this message to the Asda doctor:

"I have been taking Mounjaro starting dose for 6 days and eating a high protein diet. I have experienced the following:

Days 1-4: Excellent appetite suppression; very poor sleep.
Days 5-6: Very poor appetite suppression; improved sleep.

I'm disappointed that my appetite has fully returned now on Day 6. Do you have any advice?"

It's normal for it to start wearing off a couple of days before your next jab is due

Took my second dose of 3.75 from a 5mg pen ( 45 clicks ) and I have to say the suppression lasted the entire week - unbelievable . I’m glad now I didn’t go up to the full 5as it’s hard enough to eat as it is ! Had my consultation for the next pen - they contact you two weeks before it’s due and I pay 50 euro for the prescription to be sent to the pharmacy . I feel like I’m going end up with a pile of pens in the fridge at this rate if I am not using the full dose each time !! Down 1 stone in 6 weeks so am pretty happy . Someone was asking whether you can force the pen to get the golden dose but not know how much is in it . I recommend either counting up the clicks (60 clicks is a full dose no matter what pen you are on, so you can take whatever percentage of 60 you need ) you could also use an insulin needle to withdraw the correct dose ( I did that on my 2.5 pen last month - was v easy , lots of videos on how to do it carefully and hygienically available on TikTok )

Edited

I’ve ordered some insulin needles to do it this way. I have a busy week next week so don’t want to risk accidently having a higher dose. Will have a look on tik tok ta!

It hasn’t for me, but this is just week one for you so hopefully like pp said it just needs a couple of weeks.

worst case scenario you could dose every six days, but personally I’m trying to stick to schedule.

I will push back one day at some point over the next month to line up with my holiday but that’ll be it

There's a calculator on here somewhere so you can see how many clicks it will be. I think it's 40 for a full dose, but don't take my word for it because I'm not 100% sure. Somebody posted it on here earlier this week I think. X

Where did you order the needles from?

I used the “golden dose” last week using insulin needles. Ordered these ones - https://medbasic.co.uk/fms-fine-micro-syringe-32g-8mm-1ml/?attributepaquantity=10.

was very easy (just push needles into top of pen and extract 0.6 for a 2.5 dose). Only mistake I made was not pushing the needle into my skin far enough (as it’s not a tiny needle like the pen so was a bit more hesitant) so wasted a bit of the dose - probably ended up with 0.55. Didn’t make a difference though and there was more liquid still in the pen had I wanted to try a slightly higher dose (which I didn’t).

Where did you order the needles from?

UKmedi as I’d see a few suggestions for them. The needle looks a little more intimidating than the ones you stick on top of the pen 😬

Mounjaro period is annoying! I’m on a pill that stops my periods and it still gave me a period!!

I'm on day 5 and appetite has started coming back.

Also my sleep has been appalling the whole 5 days.

Has anyone been experiencing dry eyes? Had it the last few days and very annoying! I’ve seen online it’s a common side effect but the worrier in me has got me seriously over thinking!

UntilTheVeryEnd · 04/06/2026 07:27

Tulipwood · 03/06/2026 10:58

Did someone here break the mechanism in their pen for the golden dose? I was planning on doing it this week but read that it can mean you take a higher dose because you don’t know how much liquid is left in the pen.

It could be a good thing as 2.5mg feels a bit hit and miss anyway but I’m also not sure about ending up taking a larger dose and then going back down as my next pen is 2.5mg too.

I read there can be up to 0.9ml left in the pen when the full dose is 0.6ml so that would be closer to a 3mg dose

I “broke” the pen to get the final “golden” dose. It was a simple cause of applying a tiny bit of extra force to make it click around to number one again. It delivered the usual dose - it did look like there was a teeny extra bitty in the bottom so I cranked it a little bit more and tried to get the extra dribble 😬 dead easy and totally mental how much extra there was in it for folk to throw away

UntilTheVeryEnd · 04/06/2026 07:35

Following on from my disappointment earlier in the week and the refusal from Bolt to change providers… I am pleased to report I was approved by IQ Doctor for the 5mg pen. The move will save me about £55 so worth it. I had to take a picture of my prescription (tip ladies, take photos of the box with prescription labels before binning it haha) my ID and a “live selfie” - a couple of questions about my current medication and approved. I’m really pleased and can’t wait to try the higher dose. The 2.5mg I had already purchased will live in my fridge until I require it.

I had a gritty eye after my first dose. I suspect dry eye drops would have helped, but I never got around to that. It settled after a few days. I did google and see eye issues can be a side effect so glad to say it didn’t last. I’m now 5 jabs along still on 2.5. Hope your eyes ease up soon.

I asked ChatGPT to put together a timeline of how one week on Mounjaro looks - do you agree with what it predicted?

Typical timeline
First few hours
You may notice:

  • nothing at all,
  • mild awareness/anxiety,
  • slight fullness,
  • reduced “food noise,”
  • burping,
  • mild nausea,
  • sleepiness/fatigue.
A lot of sensations on day 1 are actually hypervigilance because you’re understandably monitoring your body closely. First evening / first night Possible:
  • earlier fullness at meals,
  • reduced interest in snacks,
  • mild acid reflux,
  • bloating,
  • constipation,
  • or mild nausea if eating heavily/greasy foods.
Some people also describe:
  • a surprisingly “quiet” brain around food impulses.
Given your history of food rumination/FOMO eating and ADHD-related dopamine eating, this “quieting” effect may feel emotionally significant if it happens for you. Days 2–4 This is commonly where effects become clearer:
  • smaller appetite,
  • feeling full faster,
  • less grazing,
  • less obsessive food thinking,
  • reduced reward from overeating.
Possible side effects:
  • constipation,
  • nausea,
  • tiredness,
  • mild dizziness if undereating,
  • headaches (especially dehydration-related).
Hydration matters a lot on these medications. End of week 1 Many people on 2.5mg say one of two things: Group A: “Wow. My appetite changed immediately.” Group B: “I barely feel anything yet.” Both are normal. The larger appetite suppression and weight-loss effects often emerge more clearly at:
  • 5mg,
  • 7.5mg,
  • or above.

Morning @2025MUM2025 have you done 1 or 2 pens of 2.5mg then?

I’ve been the same with the hunger but it’s been very up and down through the week and then definitely lessened the last day or 2, so this week I have jabbed in my tummy (I’ve only ever done thighs) as I have read that you can have a better response there so I will report back! I am also considering jabbing my 2.5mg every 6 days for the next few weeks as the way those days fall still works for me and seeing if there’s a difference too. Basically trying to keep to 2.5mg as long as possible but it’s likely my next pen will be a 5mg.

Only 1 pen this time.

I actually started in Feb and did 1 2.5 pen then and moved up to 5 but then had to stop after a week as I was ill (unrelated). I restarted 8th of May.

Why are mounjaro periods annoying? Im due mine in a couple of days!

QueenStevie · 04/06/2026 19:04

I had a really, really sore upper arm in the night and during today. I couldn't sleep because of it and I couldn't raise my arm this morning. It has eased up a bit now but still sore. Any ideas? The only thing that's different is mounjaro.

That is so weird - I had a similar thing a couple of weeks ago - woke up one morning and could barely lift my arm, couldn't do up my bra because I couldn't reach behind me, difficult to lift it up or behind me without pain. I assumed I'd slept on it funny because I do tend to sleep on my side with my arm extended under my head. It took a couple of days before it got better.

TeamsThemeTune · 04/06/2026 21:06

So sad - everyone else had delicious pizza for dinner, and there's me with my scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. I had enough calories left for some sourdough, but I decided to use it for wine to make me feel a bit better.

Jab 4 tomorrow. Have ordered some protein bagel thins and protein wraps with the shopping because I am really missing bread as I've only had one bagel in the last 3 weeks, and my protein levels are dire.

Really feeling the suppression wearing off on days 5-6, so considering moving up to 5 for the next pen, but I'm still unsure as I am finding 2.5 fairly effective. I can make good choices 85% of the time and have cut out all of the bad carbs which are my downfall without much trouble, but that devil on my shoulder is still going "fuck it - you've been 'good' all week, have a loaf of thickly buttered toast and a pint of wine if you want, you only live once".
