My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

My mouth tastes like a Screwfix Shop.

I'm pushing through a lunch of 1 apple and 1 boiled egg.

Ollycat · 29/05/2026 14:46

Can I join - I’ve ordered and just been approved via Asda - I’ll collect in the morning.

SW 13st 2lb
Height 5ft 7

would like to lose 3 stone ideally. My weight has crept up since the menopause and tbh I just feel miserable and all clothes are uncomfy and I look awful.

Am quite scared about WLI - especially sticking a needle into myself! I just want to feel different to how I do now and be confident enough to be in family photos etc

7238SM · 29/05/2026 16:24

@Ollycat Welcome 🤗
I took my 3rd jab today and I've found this thread a wealth of knowledge. I sympathise with the meno weight gain and not feeling comfortable in clothes. I worked out to just reach the upper healthy BMI, I need to lose over 6 stone or 40kg 😬

I previously injected myself for IVF and I've found the WLI pen much shorter, finer and not stingy when injecting like the IVF meds. For IVF, I'd leave a blob of emla (local anaesthetic numbing cream) on for 30mins beforehand but with WLI, I haven't needed to do that. Once injected, I leave the needle inside for a few seconds then remove reasonably quickly. The first times, I was removing VERY slowly and ended up removing at a slightly different angle to insertion and scratched my skin, causing some stinging/snagging.

If you have questions, you've found the right thread x

Ollycat · 29/05/2026 16:40

Thank you @7238SM that’s really helpful. Good luck with your weight loss journey. I plan to inject tomorrow as I’ll pick the pen up in the morning

NettleTea · 29/05/2026 16:40

bloody hell. the weight which came of yesterday was back on again this morning. Im going to be stuck at 88.1 forever!

It’s ok , really is as the needle is very fine, as pp have said take it out of the fridge a few minutes before hand so it isn’t so cold going in, and inject in different parts like tummy this time, thighs the next.

RhannionKPSS · 29/05/2026 16:45

I’m in the same boat as you and did think I can’t do this, but it’s ok.

Kitten234 · 29/05/2026 17:19

I changed provider for this pen and went with med express £138 for a 5mg pen. Really simple process and it’s already been dispatched .

My BMI is 29 now and had no issue with prescribing.

Going to do 3.5 or 3.75 I think . Scared to do the full 5 because of side effects. Will keep you all updated how it goes next week.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 29/05/2026 18:11

@PuppyKeep same here with mild gastric symptoms or nausea and some burping. My appetite is somewhat suppressed at 1.25 but I think i feel slightly more nauseous on balance. Have you got rennies to hand?

madeinthe80z · 29/05/2026 18:14

When does everyone feel the greatest suppression? I jab on a Tuesday and I feel like Wednesday and most of Thursday I have normal ish hunger (but little food noise) and then Thursday evening / Friday I don’t feel hungry at all. Just wondering what others experience!

Kitten234 · 29/05/2026 18:21

@madeinthe80z i get the most suppression Saturdays and Sundays. Do my jab on a Friday .

Rockgrin · 29/05/2026 18:30

Well, I did have good appetite suppression... until today that is (Week 2, day 6). I'm not sure what has happened but I can suddenly finsh all my meals and have had some snacks too!

All under calories (I hadn't bothered counting until now but thought I better today!) but still a little scary, I really enjoyed the lack of food noise.

At least it has helped my indecision, I have ordered my second pen at 5 instead of carrying on with 2.5.

3oldladiesstuckinalavatory · 29/05/2026 19:28

I’m on jab 1, day 6 and I’ve been hungry every day, totally able to eat what I want.

I haven’t had the urge to binge or snack (apart from last night, after several glasses of wine!).

I’m considering this a huge win!

No side effects except for low level reflux (which I had anyway). My sleep has been rubbish - could be the jab, could be the weather?

I’m getting my 10000 steps in and seriously considering going to the gym tomorrow! I haven’t been since October 😣😂

Welcome, have you got a husband (wife) to jab you, mine seems to quite enjoy it. He has a good laugh when I’m inching away from him as he is coming toward me with it

Similar pattern for me - jab on Monday night and lowest calorie days (I track) are Thurs & Fri. Which is lucky as I do my “official” weigh in on a Friday morning

NettleTea · 29/05/2026 21:28

I havent been hungry at all, although Im not struggling to eat either. I do my jab Sunday morning and maybe Friday I might have a vague 'hmm I COULD snack' feeling but its something I seem able to ignore. Im currently on week 5

However I could previously go hours and hours without eating, so maybe Im not a good example.

KittensAndCupcakes · 30/05/2026 08:57

Bah! humbug! Ordered a 2.5 pen for this coming month and will be doing first jab of that tonight.

But just done Saturday morning weigh in and haven’t lost 1 single gram since last week. Should I have gone with the 5?? I was hoping it would continue to work on 2.5 as still eating less and less frequently than pre jabs. Also the side effects seemed to have really died down this week. No headache, no nausea apart from one big meal and no tummy troubles. Hope I am not wasting my money this month, but thanks for letting me vent / rant here.

Hope everyone doing ok x

AsACloud · 30/05/2026 10:04

Hi everyone, great to catch up on all the efforts. I went to update on Thursday but was feeling pretty disheartened. Thurs was my first weigh in after taking my second jab of my first ever (2.5) pen the night before. I gained .2 of a kg which I honestly can’t understand because even without being on Mounjaro I shouldn’t have gained anything. I have had low to moderate suppression for the week but regardless of what I wanted to eat at times, I was very good food wise and no snacking/under eating/late eating and I upped my water and had one alcoholic drink the whole week. I’ve had zero side effects so far which also means no constipation so any gain is not down to that either. I did 30-45 mins each day on the treadmill as I have an office job so struggle to get high steps in otherwise so I was between 11 and 16k steps every day for the week. My sensible head is trying to remind me that the first pen is about prepping your body and weight loss is not guaranteed but it’s hard to see the scales go up, even in a tiny way, when I know the week I had does not match the result and when I know that people have such great losses even on the first pen. My not sensible head is telling me that I’ll be donating my body to science for the freakish way it retains weight 😂

So clever and informed ‘Thread-mates’…help me!

How are you actually doing on your calories? I know there have been a few posts where people have been talking about alcohol or other things they’ve had that you would normally avoid on a diet.

don’t forget we fluctuate, and if you only weigh in once a week you might just have caught yourself on an up fluctuation this week and a down last week. I know it’s not hugely likely but it is possible.

im one of those crazy weighers, i do it morning and night, but it means i always know exactly where i am at, when the weight loss is a fluctuation and when it is a loss. I know this doesn’t suit everyone but i think it keeps me on track.

I also have been using ‘happy scale’ app, it’s paid (2.99 a month) but it is really good for tracking your trends, putting on targets etc, and then if I have a couple of days were I get stuck on a weight I don’t have to worry too much as it shows me trend lines etc. so I can see where it is going to go over the next few weeks. You can also break your overall goal into mini targets (as many or as few as you want)

But keep with it, your 2.5 was working for you and it will continue to work, see how the next two weeks go, and then decide if you are going to go up from there :)

you’ve got this!

Week 1 your body dumps all the junk and water etc, week 2 it rebounds.

I don’t know if you’ve ever watched biggest loser USA, week two some of them gain and that is with trainers on them all day every day.

you will be ok, stick with it

AsACloud · 30/05/2026 10:23

Thank you for that but that is my week 1 result so seems I haven’t dumped anything? I just weighed myself out of interest, I want to weekly weigh and not daily etc but just went on scales and I’m a further .2kg up again so half a kg up since my first very injection.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 30/05/2026 10:34

@AsACloud are you due your period?

Ah sorry, I misread.

how are you doing with your calorie intake, you also said you’ve been increasing your water, could this have caused an issue?

Have you tried tracking your calories on an app, or even just telling chat gpt and asking it for advice?

the biggest change I made, and that I know is one of the biggest reasons for my losses, is ditching alcohol (which I see you’ve done). If I don’t have that then I don’t drink my calories and make bad food choices afterwards too.

I would try weighing every day or every other day. Our weight fluctuates so much over the month a weekly way in isn’t a true indication of weightloss, it’s just a snap shot

NettleTea · 30/05/2026 11:05

yes its amazing how much weight fluctuates. Honestly. I was 88.1 for about 3 days, went up to 88.5. then down to 87.5 then up to 88.1 now back down to 87.5 today. and thats just this week. sticking to the 1200 calories. drinking water. going to the loo. post menopause so nothing cyclic to be messing (although of course fat stores hormones, so they get released into your body as they go - which Im blaming for yesterday when instead of feeling hungry I just felt ragingly horny for about 2 hours for no explicable reason). thankfully it passed.....
