My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

Thanks everyone. To answer the questions, no period to blame as I had premature ovarian failure from mid 30s so had the longest menopause unfortunately! Now 51 and since meno I really struggle to lose weight and I have made some pretty hard attempts over the years hence deciding to try Mounjaro now. Don’t think it’s too much water as not been overfilling myself with liquids, just a conscious attempt to keep my water intake decent. I signed up for MFP to track everything but even if I wasn’t, I know I’m not overeating from both quantity and type of food. I work Mon to Fri and have a pretty regular routine so easy to track what my intake is. I know weight can fluctuate a lot and I have seen the advice often now is to weigh daily, generally speaking and not just for people on WLI, I might try it for the next couple of weeks and see. Will up my exercise too.

Thank you for that but that is my week 1 result so seems I haven’t dumped anything? I just weighed myself out of interest, I want to weekly weigh and not daily etc but just went on scales and I’m a further .2kg up again so half a kg up since my first very injection.

Just a thought.....are you weighing yourself after you've had a drink? A pint if water weighs a pound (weigh it and you'll see), so you may have been eating well, but we're all drinking loads at the moment so it could be that. I weigh first thing in the morning, after my first wee and before I est or drink anything.

How are you actually doing on your calories? I know there have been a few posts where people have been talking about alcohol or other things they’ve had that you would normally avoid on a diet.

don’t forget we fluctuate, and if you only weigh in once a week you might just have caught yourself on an up fluctuation this week and a down last week. I know it’s not hugely likely but it is possible.

im one of those crazy weighers, i do it morning and night, but it means i always know exactly where i am at, when the weight loss is a fluctuation and when it is a loss. I know this doesn’t suit everyone but i think it keeps me on track.

I also have been using ‘happy scale’ app, it’s paid (2.99 a month) but it is really good for tracking your trends, putting on targets etc, and then if I have a couple of days were I get stuck on a weight I don’t have to worry too much as it shows me trend lines etc. so I can see where it is going to go over the next few weeks. You can also break your overall goal into mini targets (as many or as few as you want)

But keep with it, your 2.5 was working for you and it will continue to work, see how the next two weeks go, and then decide if you are going to go up from there :)

you’ve got this!

Thanks for asking. I don’t track calories as I just can’t go back to doing that. I did it for years and it took ages to stop counting calories (and a lot of money in therapy!). I can’t start that all over again.

My deal with myself is that the jabs have to reduce my appetite so I am not dieting, but just ‘naturally’ eating less. Which I have been and have had some weight loss. I don’t drink anyway so I think I just need to be patient and see how I go. Try and eat a bit less.

On the upside, I did think to myself at various points in the last month how wonderful it was to have leas food noise in my head and I still do think that. So even if this month is just a plateau, I want to enjoy that aspect and I’ll feel more confident making the choice to go up next month as I’ll hopefully be really adjusted to the medicine (which is anyway helping my Lymphodema).

Onward and upward (except on the scales I hope 😆)…

Haha I love the last bit.

and yeah I can see counting calories can bring people into starvation and over management. For me I know how many calories I’m having and it works, but not for everyone.

have you considered getting a quick sum up of a couple of your usual meals just to make sure you aren’t misjudging your eating, but not actually track the dailies. I guess it is whether or not that is likely to cause you some problems.

either way, the food noise reducing will help with the snacks, and having no alcohol is great, so I’m sure it’ll keep coming off, just having a little plateau like you say.

My delivery from lotus arrived today and there was a sharps box included. Delighted as my first order with another pharmacy didn’t include one!

PuppyKeep · 30/05/2026 14:03

It’s been just over 24 hours since I took my first dose. Low level nausea and low appetite. I’ll take it!

just had scrambled egg and an apple so far today. Zero food noise.

wow. I can actually live life for the first time in 43 years.

I really hear you on the ‘I can actually live life after 43 years’. Slightly more years for me, but basically I realise I’ve had a kind of low level agitation about food even at the times when it’s been more straightforward. Always this kind of tension about enough and soooo much time spent feeling really hungry and trying to be busy to avoid food and avoid noticing hunger. I literally felt safer in the world after the first few jabs. Like there wasn’t this vague unspecified problem circulating around me. Weird! But grateful for that.

Ollycat · 30/05/2026 15:01

Collected my pen from Asda earlier today and have just taken my first dose.

for those who track calories (which I intend to do) what’s your upper limit which you aim for?

I very rarely drink alcohol and only really drink water or green tea (and a coffee in the morning) and my diet is generally good - my downfall is chocolate when I’m tired / worried / stressed etc hence I’ve got into a bad habit of coming home from work and eating chocolate.

for lunch I tend to eat leftovers which possibly are a bit more carby then would be ideal so I may look at switching to just plain chicken and salad.

i strength train 3 x week and walk the dog at the weekend and my job is relatively active - ive been thinking of adding a 4th strength training session and maybe a yoga session as I’ve been feeling very stiff recently!

Are there any other top tips anyone would recommend.

I’m doing max 1200 but staying below 1000 most days. I realise that it isn’t sustainable to stay in 800-1000 long term but while I am trying to shed a whole bunch quickly I’m doing it anyway as I’m not hungry at all now. I guess you would need to do a lot more though if you are doing most of workout sessions.

If you can do it, I would just not have snacks in the house. I don’t have any in at all anymore, and it doesn’t bother me, I also don’t do the staring into the fridge wondering what to have thing anymore.

now that I see it as I’m typing, it was totally pointless me ordering the 5 pen as the 2.5 was working fine, but hey ho 🤷‍♀️

glad you’ve joined us over here, keep us up to date on your losses as you go, it’s always good to see a positive change.

If it helps you put into perspective what can be done in the early days, I’ve gone from 270 to 252.8 (17.2lbs) in 3 weeks and 3 days. Good luck

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 30/05/2026 15:58

I'm keeping to 1500 or thereabouts. I was probably at 2000 and more most days. I haven't done a weigh in yet as I'm only half way through my first week but I'm happy to lose relatively slowly. My body reacts to too much change!

Tulipwood · 30/05/2026 16:01

1500 for me. I don’t want to drop too dramatically and it’s working at the moment as I’ve lost 7lb in 3 weeks.

QueenStevie · 30/05/2026 16:13

Did my first jab this morning. Just been to Lidl and stocked up on protein rich foods. Am terrified of side effects but so far...touch wood! I do keep thinking of food though because I'm thinking about not thinking about food iyswim! Although there is a Costa right next to Lidl and usually I go and have a little hot chocolate, cream and marshmallow treat in there and I didn't even fancy it today.

It's just me for dinner tonight which will make life easier whilst I suss out how I'm feeling. I haven't told DD I'm on it. She's 19 but quite body conscious. I've never talked diets with her, just said I'm going on a health kick when I've been dieting before so I am going to stick with that again.

Sorry for the delay, had to go out this afternoon. No, same as you, I only weigh when I first get up so after a wee and before anything to eat or drink. Going to try the daily weigh for this week, be interesting what it shows.

Give the app I mentioned a try - happy scale. It has a 7 day free trial. It’ll track your progress on a graph etc. I love it

Random but has anyone started to bruise suddenly? Done 4 jabs no problem but bruised terrible today .

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 30/05/2026 18:42

I bruised on my first jab a few days ago.

AsACloud · 30/05/2026 18:46

@Boreded
I’ll give that a go, thank you. A visual always helps!

I bruised on first and third jabs. It probably just depends on if you chance upon a pipe (vein/ capillary/ whatever’s under the skin). Bruiser faded within a week.

Tulipwood · 30/05/2026 20:22

Jab night for me tonight and gonna try above my belly button which for some reason really freaks me out 😂

Which food did you buy please? I’m looking for high protein.

Terrified about potential hair loss!

ByNiftyPombear · 30/05/2026 20:48

@Ollycat I’m in the gym at least 3 days a week too, so am eating 1500 cals a day on average. I was worried it might be too much but I’ve still lost nearly 11 lbs in just over 4 weeks. I’m also so much more motivated to exercise, not sure if it’s just wanting to make the most of this opportunity or whether it’s something else, but definitely feel the need to move more, and push myself harder. Good luck!

As a fellow ADHDer, are you finding MJ has calmed your brain a bit? The first week or two I really noticed a difference in the mind chatter situation. It’s still better although got used to it so not as noticeable.

Any other ADHDers notice any difference since starting MJ?

Im unsure. Possibly. but not exceptionally.

6th jab taken this morning and Ive lost a total 1 stone 1 lb so thats good going.

It sadly doesnt notice yet though, as I can confirm from a video of myself yesterday. But Im holding out that it will soon.

Im 87.1 kg today I believe when I hot 85, from what i remember in the past, my stomach will be big, but it wont overhang/ crease so thats one less body health issue to worry about

I have an exhibition opening on the 20th June, and Ive ordered a Toast dress from ebay in a size 18, so Im hoping that will fit. Last time I tried I could fit in their XL in most of the looser dresses, so Im keeping my fingers crossed.

I think I need to move about a bit more.

QueenStevie · 31/05/2026 08:34

@PuppyKeep I got some yogurt pouches which are 25g protein. I got some packs of cooked chicken - different flavours like tikka, sweet chilli - I think this is going to be the main part of my lunch when I'm back at work this week as it's easy. I got some peppered mackerel fillets and some ham. I also got some high protein bagel thins.
