My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

I’m excited for all of you just starting this journey. That was me this time last year! I’m now 11.5 months in and it honestly has been life-changing. I’ve gone from a size 20-22 to now a 14 (some 16s and some 12s fit), from 105kg to 62kg. I’m not quite in a healthy BMI yet because I’m short(!) but feel so much better about myself.

If anyone has any questions I can help with, ask away! I did post further up with my experiences too.

My main one is, don’t feel you need to be loyal to whoever you first bought from. Check prices on the Monj website, and take advantage of referrals. For example, if you use my Numan referral now, you’d save £100 off your order and I’d save £120 on mine (recently increased from £100, and before that it was £80). Then on following months you can get the same discount if you refer others: https://www.numan.com/refer/REF-U49RMKYP

good luck everyone!

@AsACloud How are you feeling after 5 days in?

I actually started 5 days earlier than you so had my 2nd dose yesterday. The very first day, I had the most dreadful reflux which gaviscon didn't touch and some nausea brushing teeth. I've had neither of those after my 2nd dose. I do like a glass of wine and savoury snacks at night, but haven't snacked since starting and have cut my wine by half! Possibly placebo effect from what I've read though. How are you doing?

I feel great today, still zero side effects. I had my usual Sat breakfast of egg on toast with no unusual fullness etc and now I’m thinking about what to have for lunch. Yes wine and savoury snacks are my always go to 😅 but I definitely think there’s a placebo effect along with the fact that I’m paying for this so don’t want to waste the opportunity. Presumably I won’t feel any higher suppression at this stage of the week. Hope you feel great after your 2nd dose. I’ll definitely be keen to step on the scales after the first week and see if there’s a loss!

AsACloud · 23/05/2026 13:26

@MissMogs
Wow! Over 40 kgs down. You must feel like a new woman.

Sounds cheesy to say it but yes. I feel more comfortable, everything feels physically easier

RhannionKPSS · 23/05/2026 13:43

Well done to everyone who is feeling the benefits
the point about paying for this treatment so not wasting the opportunity rings true to me also

NettleTea · 24/05/2026 08:21

weigh in this morning at the end of week 4 and no movement on the scales. It had been lower yesterday but was back up again this morning. This is my usual point where everything stops so hopefully this wont be the case

24/05/2026 88.1 kg
17/05/2026 88.1 kg
10/05/2026 89.9 kg
03/05/2026 90.5 kg
26/04/2026 92 kg
21/04/2026 94 kg

loss so far 5.9 kg /13 lbs 6.3% of body weight

on a plus I cranked that 5th dose out of the pen and I seem to have solved the constipation issue, thanks to the kiwi a day advice - Im hoping that is what has held up the loss this week, but know that things are up and down with this journey

Rockgrin · 24/05/2026 10:22

I'm in shock...

12 pounds down!

I have never lost that much in a week (I know it is mainly water) and I haven't had to count any calories/syns/points at all!

I have to order my next dose soon, if this week goes well I may stay on this dose.

KittensAndCupcakes · 24/05/2026 10:25

@MissMogs thanks for the upbeat testimonial.

@NettleTea good news about clearing the constipation blockage. And well done on getting that 5th dose out and the release of 6.3% of your body that you no longer wanted to carry.

I did my 4th and final (from this pen) jab last night. Weight loss so far 2.3kg. Feels not too much and not too little. Lymphodema improved. Eating way more protein. Doing strength training twice a week. And my lovely waist has reappeared. Still got plenty more spare fat to release, but content with the experience and results so far. Will stay on 2.5 again next month.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine!

NettleTea · 24/05/2026 12:34

thats great @KittensAndCupcakes well done.
I am kind of enjoying the sunshine but I have work to get done for an exhibition and am in the studio, avidly avoiding anything that needs soldering or fireing.

Izzydogmum · 24/05/2026 12:39

Morning all!
hope you are all enjoying the sun, hopefully this time next year the chub rub will be a thing of the past!
doing jab 4 today, been swimming this morning.
tomorrow got Zumba.

starting weight: 287lbs
jab: 2.5mg
current weight: 273lbs
total loss: 13lbs.

still no side affects. Hoping that stays! But looking towards the next pen, thinking 5mg will be the way to go.

hope you are all seeing results and keep on plugging away!

KittensAndCupcakes · 24/05/2026 15:26

@Izzydogmum that all sounds like good news with your weight loss and no side effects - hurrah!

Thanks @NettleTea and hope you manage to stay away from further heat sources! I detest the hot weather and am permanently seeking shelter.

@Rockgrin wow - 12 pounds in a week - are you out biggest loser? ;-) Actually I do wonder what the most is that anyone anywhere ever has lost in a week. Feel my 0.5kg per week is really quite modest…!

TeamsThemeTune · 24/05/2026 15:26

@Izzydogmum can I just ask why you are thinking of moving up to 5mg if 2.5 is working so well for you? 13lbs in 4 weeks is pretty impressive! Genuine question - I've only done 2 jabs, so not thinking about the next pen just yet.

@Rockgrin Blimey! That must have been a shock when you looked at the scales.

@NettleTea That's a great loss in 5 weeks overall though - it's going down, which is what counts.

Rockgrin · 24/05/2026 18:37

@KittensAndCupcakes and @TeamsThemeTune .

It was shocking! I think I must have had a lot of inflamation and water retained though (PCOS).

Seem to have had quite a bit more suppresion today on the second dose, felt very sleepy and not really hungry at all. If the next two weeks are the same I might stick at 2.5 for another pen at least.

0.5 kg is very healthy! I'm hoping to settle in to 1-2 pounds loss a week from now. I do weight lift three times a week, so would like to keep as much lean muscle as possible!

Hello... can I join this thread? I feel a bit sheepish about it, I've been lurking since October, finally took the plunge in April, joined the April thread and ordered the MJ.... and have only just got my courage up to actually start the medication half an hour ago 😣

I have around 30kg to loose to get to be a healthy weight again. I so want this to succeed. My health and mobility is really suffering being so obese and its making me miserable.

I have drunk gallons of water and eaten light, healthy protein-rich food today.

I hope this works!

Well done!
I was like you, pondering it for months, even dreaming about it! But I took the plunge 2 weeks ago and honestly can’t believe the effect it’s had already. I actually have to remember to eat and I’m not drinking anywhere near the amount of alcohol that I used to. I’d think nothing of necking a bottle of wine in one sitting-now I struggle to drink a glass! I’ve lost 6.5lbs in 11 days.
You won’t regret it-good luck.

just seen youve moved over here. I was here at the last day April / 1st may so am keeping my feet in both camps!

Izzydogmum · 24/05/2026 21:10

@TeamsThemeTunehiya.
the first 3 weeks on the 2.5mg have been good but last couple of days I have found myself wandering into the kitchen opening cupboards on food prowl. I haven’t succumbed but if the thoughts are there then I don’t want to spend more than another week on this knowing it’s starting to lose affects. I have done this before and going to 5mg was a struggle so hopefully this time it’s easier.
Good luck with your weight loss!

TeamsThemeTune · 24/05/2026 21:25

@Izzydogmum Thanks, that makes sense. I'm still getting good suppression and satiety, but I'm only 10 days in, so I guess I'll have to see how I feel in a couple of weeks.

Boreded · 25/05/2026 00:12

I’m preparing for a rubbish weight loss this week. I’ve eaten a lot today in comparison to other days (though admittedly only 1800 calories so whilst not super low it isn’t actually more than I can have) so I know I’ll have a bit of a rebound tomorrow. But…I think I can now go until after my holiday without having to eat a Sunday dinner around people, I’ll just have to fake an illness a fortnight from now and let my family go without me, then 2 weeks after that I can say I’m not eating it as watching my weight for the holiday.

im at the point where I’ve dieted semi successfully (up to 3 stone at a time) but each time people have known about it so when I fail it is there for everyone to see. This time I just want to get on with it in peace and not have to worry about external impressions.

Anyone else struggle with anything in particular?

UntilTheVeryEnd · 25/05/2026 07:32

Welcome to the new starters!
Today is my weigh day and 4th jab.
LW: 12 stone 0.5lbs
CW: 11 stone 10.5lbs
I am going to try to get the golden dose out of the pen for next week, before I use my new pen (2.5mg) My official starting weight for MJ was 12 stone 10lbs (I lost a bit on my own first) so I’ve lost a stone in 3 weeks.
Delighted with that…9.5weeks til big holiday… so ahead of where I thought I might be.
I have had some more SE this week, namely diarrhoea every day and horrific stomach noises (so much I terrified the dog) but it’s manageable.
Anyone else weighing in today? ❤️

KittensAndCupcakes · 25/05/2026 11:29

@3oldladiesstuckinalavatory welcome! I love your user name. Hope it all goes well for you.

@Boreded I am also apprehensive about fielding comments from other people. I already had someone say my fave looks well/different. I’m not terribly keen on discussing use of MJ as it seems to be quite an emotive topic. Anyway, one step at a time…

Yeah for me it is the whole vibe of people thinking that the injection is the thing that makes you lose the weight…but you still have to choose not to eat the wrong things, not to have a few drinks when you would otherwise. I genuinely believe for me that the biggest positive from the jab isn’t what it is going to do in terms of the weight, but in that it will give me a psychological impact that I haven’t had before.

Greenfingers37 · 25/05/2026 12:24

My 19 year old nephew told me yesterday that MJ will hollow out my bones!! I soon shut him up by telling him I’m on a high protein diet, taking a Vit D supplement and doing strength/resistance training!

KittensAndCupcakes · 25/05/2026 13:56

@Greenfingers37 well done for silencing the unrequested comments from the youth!

KittensAndCupcakes · 25/05/2026 14:33

@Boreded who cares even if it is only the injection that is making weight loss accessible for us? For me, it definitely is the jab which is causing me to eat differently (ie less) and thus I’ve shed some weight. I’m not a serial dieter. I was as a teen and it drove me into a state of madness which took a lot of therapy and learning to overcome. For three decades, I’ve eaten increasingly healthily as more public info has appeared about UPFs, nutrition, etc. I had broadly accepted my fate as a slightly overweight woman until I heard about and researched these medicines and I thought the benefits outweighed the risks of being overweight. Frankly it may not work, but I wouldn’t use the injection if I didn’t believe using it would reduce my weight. People are funny about the jabs because our whole society has a massive complex about fat. It’s just not a neutral topic. The only thing we can do is find our own path to being as neutral as possible. Kind to ourselves and others. Definitely not condemning ourselves or others for carrying adipose tissue. Being less imprisoned by the rules of what we are supposed to think about it all and developing our own vision to carry us through it all.

Phew, this heat has brought out a right rant. I must go for a nap… 😴
