My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

I used to drink too much Coke Zero. And wine! Still having both but not having Coke every day and have dropped wine to 1 or 2 times a week.

Anyone else regretting not starting earlier? When it’s hot and sunny and I see everyone in summer dresses and sleeveless tops I always wish I’d done something to sort
myself out. This year is the year!

fartotheleftside · 22/05/2026 14:07

Started my first 2.5 jab last night. Immediately felt great -- like I have more time and freedom without food noise. No compulsion to over-eat. I still really enjoy food, but just in smaller portions. I could spend all evening having dinner and snacking before, and now I'm just happy to have a sensible tasty little dinner and then forget about food completely.

I had a few glasses of wine at an event earlier this week and felt absolutely dreadful for two days after, which I put down to the mounjaro. Coincidentally I was having blood tests for something else which came back as an elevated ALT liver enzyme. (the blood test was before the night out and I hadn't drunk alcohol for weeks before the test!) I've read this can be mounjaro related?

W1 weigh-in 1.8kg/3.97lbs down. That's good isn't it!
Jab 2 done.

I've just realised I'm going to have to phone the travel insurance and tell them I'm on MJ. Ugh.

I’ll have to do the same then…bugger!

@JojoButBetter Hot squash is my new crutch! My family think I’m strange.

KittensAndCupcakes · 22/05/2026 17:17

@TeamsThemeTune thanks for the warning re travel insurance, hadn’t crossed my mind!

Happy Friday and Bank Holiday everyone :)

How is everybody doing? Lots of people on the thread at different stages, thought I’d share a few thoughts.

What they say about water is true. I feel so much better if I’ve drank loads.

Each week has seemed different to me, it’s really interesting. I’m on week 4 and the suppression seems to be the highest this week and I’ve been feeling pretty queasy and absolutely shattered on and off. Interestingly not eaten as much so it is taking a while to get through a meal. Hoping an early night and a good sleep tonight will help set me up for the weekend.

With that in mind, I am definitely staying on 2.5mg. Even though week 2 and 3 I thought I was feeling a bit hungrier etc, I won’t be going up until I notice a consistent (3+ week) reduction in the suppression/food noise.

I’m just about getting to grips with the protein. This week I have managed to average 100g.

The constipation is real! I don’t do every well with supplements, they can quickly send me too far the opposite way! so I’m hoping the Greek yoghurt and kiwi combo will keep me in check!

Enough from me, I had a few spare minutes so thought I’d ramble!

My exact thoughts about starting earlier when I was having a mental breakdown packing for a weekend away last night

Are you me? I started with exact same stats 😆

Hey twin!
How are you getting on? :)

AsACloud · 22/05/2026 23:00

Hi all.
Can I join please? I’m brand new to this & only started this week so behind everyone else on this thread but it’s been a really informative read for me and it’s good to know what to expect. I started Mounjaro 2.5, first injection on Wednesday night. I’ve been putting on weight for a while due to menopause, a demanding and stressful job that often makes for terrible eating habits and then a serious back injury that limits exercise 😬 I’d like to lose 2.5 stone ideally. Two days in and I’ve not had a single side effect yet and whilst I am very glad of that…I also don’t much feel the benefits of it! I can still eat full meals and 3 of them a day & there’s nothing that I can’t stomach. I have cut out the snacking and been conscious of what I’m eating but it feels more like I’m trying to do that, instead of feeling like it and probably because I’m conscious of not wasting this expensive attempt at losing weight! Friday night now and I’d happily have a glass of wine and a large helping of crisps 🤷🏻‍♀️
Will I be unlucky and not lose anything/much on the first low dose?

7238SM · 22/05/2026 23:22

@AsACloud Welcome. I'm only 5 days ahead of you so I'm a newbie too. From what I've read, the 2.5mg dose is a primer to get the body used to the drug. Some people do notice symptoms/reduction in hunger whereas others won't until they up the dose. There is lots of info in this chat though and earlier ones which I've found very useful.

Morning

I do my jabs earlier in the week but am doing my weigh in on Fridays. So far -

SW 12st 7
Week 1 - 5 lbs
Week 2 - 2 1/4 lb
Week 3 - 1 lb
CW 11st 13 1/4

Weight loss has slowed down but happy with that as long as it keeps coming off. Have been exercising quite hard this week so have physically felt that I needed more calories (averaging 1600 cals, some days higher some a lot lower), but still making healthier choices and tracking everything. Would say suppression is reducing, but not enough to turn to my usual go tos. Sticking to 2.5 next month as happy with progress so far.

Rockgrin · 23/05/2026 07:22

Morning, I'd like to join please.

I broke down last Saturday and decided enough was enough (my 202nd diet failure) and ordered mounjaro. I wasn't expecting it to go that smoothly, but the pen arrived on Sunday morning!

I injected straight away before I chickened out. And what has happened since feels just short of a miracle.

I started feeling an odd sensation a few hours after, when I ate lunch I'd just felt like stopping after a while. I wasn't physically so full I couldn't eat anymore, and the food hadn't run out, which were previously the only two things that would have stopped me finishing anything.

It's not just that though, I have PCOS and am usually a bloated mess in a lot of pain at this point in my cycle. But the pain has been massively reduced? Forgive the TMI but I've even been able to use normal sanitary pads instead of giant incontinence nappies.

I haven't felt any real nausea, just a decreased desire to snack. Mild constipation on day 4, but some prune juice sorted that out.

I even posted on the board to check whether this was possible, because I was under the impression it would take weeks/months and higher doses to experience anything at all.

I'm 39, SW: 18 stone 7 pounds on Sunday. Quite excited to look at the scales tomorrow because it feels like my clothes are a bit looser (that could be wishful thinking though), but I definitely feel like a lot of inflammation has gone.

Ismo456 · 23/05/2026 08:13

Morning - I’m coming to the end of week one

any noticed their stools getting paler? Is this normal?

I am taking MJ because of my primary lymphodema. I have weightloss that is going to be beneficial, but as PL is now believed to be an inflammatory condition rather than a faulty/ damaged lymphatic system, they are doing some clinical trials currently in the US as the evidence seems to suggest that the second agonist in MJ as opposed to wegovy/ozempic is acting on the inflammation, even at very low doses.
In the case of lymphodema and lipodema, once the inflammation goes down, the lymph fluid starts to clear, and the unique thing that it does to fat cells seems to reverse/ it is able to be let go of.
Im unsure of the exact mechanisms of PCOS but I would imagine that the pain is in many ways connected to inflammation - as that is one of the body's first line of defence/ healing so this may explain what is happening with you. Obv Im not a doctor, so I am just guessing. I think that we may find that MJ and the next triple agonist which is in the pipeline, may address a whole board of inflammatory conditions, many of which are associated with being female, and which have previously been offered no treatment possibility.

Rockgrin · 23/05/2026 08:30

@Ismo456 sorry if it's too graphic but how pale?

I used to get slightly paler stools occasionally if I ate a fatty meal (when I was on Orlistat).

But I also got consistently very pale ones when I had a gallbladder problem.

Are you being sick or do you have any bad stomach pains?

It's probably best to check with your prescriber if you are worried.

Rockgrin · 23/05/2026 08:33

@NettleTea that would be wonderful, so many women have had to suffer for so long with inflammatory conditions!

Hey twin!
How are you getting on? :)

Hey Twin! I’m doing ok… although week 3 side effects have been a bit more manic than previous weeks. Let’s just say my toileting has gone completely the other way 🥴 I’ve just ordered my second pen and decided to stay at 2.5mg. I’m getting good suppression and side effects as “manageable” - not sure I fancy 5mg side effects just now hahaha.

Without our stats being identical, it’s interesting for me to see that you’ve picked 10 stone as your goal weight. I hadn’t given it much thought… I thought 11 might be fine, but at the top end of “healthy” To be honest, I’ve not been close to 10 in a long time so not sure how that would look 👀

How are you getting on? ☺️

Thank you, what ended up being your issues and were they easily resolved by stopping medication?

I have had awful nausea for the first 4 days, today I feel so much better. No pain or vomiting for the whole time.

I now feel so incredibly anxious that something is wrong 😔

Ismo456 · 23/05/2026 09:05

And when I say pale I mean like a yellow colour. A bit like korma. Sorry I know that’s gross! But solid and only parts of the stool were this colour

Thanks for that. I realise I’m being daft, making any kind of judgements after 2 days! Suppose I just felt a bit disheartened reading all these comments about suppression when after a long day at work, I could have totally reached for the wine and crisps as a usual Friday night treat. Anyway, I didn’t so positive mindset from today.

How are you feeling after 5 days in?

Boreded · 23/05/2026 09:44

Halfway through week 3 for me. I got the jabs because my husband is a bit of a feeder, also I thought if I was spending money on the jabs then he would stop suggesting spending money on alcohol.

So far I’m not feeling any suppression, but I am very tired and have been feeling a bit sick after the jabs. Also getting a lot of heartburn after eating so that’s fun. So for now it is just good old fashioned dieting, with the psychological benefits of not wanting to waste money by eating Chinese and drinking alcohol.

39 years old, 5ft 6
SW: 270
Week 1: -8lbs
Week 2: -3.8lbs
Week 3: -2.8lb (3 days in)
CW: 255.4lbs
GW 1: 168
Stretch GW 2: 140

Rockgrin · 23/05/2026 11:03

@Ismo456 I was toldnit wasn't a big deal on Orlistat, and just cutting out the fatty meals helped.

But when it was my gallbladder it had to be removed.

Hope you feel better soon!

7238SM · 17/05/2026 12:57

May I ask about time of day morning vs night injecting int terms of side effects?

What day of the week is best? A friend takes hers on a Monday because she finds by the time she gets to the weekend, her suppression is slightly less so she can enjoy meals with family.

I started on Friday. IF you wanted to move my inject day, would you use it on Sat next week, Sun the following then the Mon? So moving it by 1 day a week or it makes no difference what day of the week you have it? thanks.

My first jab was in the morning and the following day I felt awful. Took my second jab at night hoping to ease the side effects. sadly for me 24hrs after I’ve felt equally sick and headachy. However I’ve heard evening works well for lots of people x

WoIsMe · 23/05/2026 12:01

A few thoughts from me…

Does anyone have a different goal to a weight goal? I would love my wedding and engagement rings to fit again. I was only 22 years old and 60 kg when I got married so my rings are small and one of them can’t be resized. I’ve put my engagement ring on my bedside table to try on every so often even though it will undoubtedly be a while before I can even get it over my knuckle let alone wear it comfortably. I think it’s helpful to have a goal that isn’t related to the scales though.

Does anyone know about intermittent fasting on GLP1 medicines? I used to do 16:8 most days but I’ve been eating breakfast since I started as I was worried about nausea being worse if I don’t eat.

I went out for lunch with my son yesterday and found the best meal in a local cafe. They call it a Healthy Breakfast and it’s two poached eggs, smoked salmon, fried halloumi, half an avocado and a small side salad - ideal for getting enough protein into my day! It looked lovely as well, I should have taken a photo as it was presented beautifully.

7238SM · 23/05/2026 12:15

@AsACloud How are you feeling after 5 days in?

I actually started 5 days earlier than you so had my 2nd dose yesterday. The very first day, I had the most dreadful reflux which gaviscon didn't touch and some nausea brushing teeth. I've had neither of those after my 2nd dose. I do like a glass of wine and savoury snacks at night, but haven't snacked since starting and have cut my wine by half! Possibly placebo effect from what I've read though. How are you doing?
