My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

@UntilTheVeryEnd i’ve decided to stick to 2.5 for now as am still finding I have decent suppression until around day 6, and trying to use my willpower on injection day to get me used to life post mounjaro! Also side effects have been manageable, but have had a couple of days when I’ve struggled with reflux and flu like symptoms, and don’t want to aggravate it by going up too early. I had in mind a similar goal to you (11 stone-ish) so not desperate to see the scales drop dramatically in a short timescale anyway, and happy with the loss so far. What are your thoughts at the moment?

day after dose today. I had a not very good quality steak and triple cooked chips last night and my god my body didnt like that. woke in the night with stomach ache and woke this morning feeling really sick, although alieviated when I sat up and did a series of the worlds biggest burps ever and a giant fart.

Too greasy I guess. and the weight had gone back up a bit this morning. So am having a nice bowl of yoghurt and bluebesrries and hoping it passes as am working doing the changeover at our glampingsite this morning. At least I can fart into the woodland.,...

😆

Hey everyone hope all is well! I’ve had fairly minimum side effects on 2.5mg and no real loss weight (maybe 1lb) so I’m happy to move up to 5mg when the time comes. How is everyone doing?

has anyone 4st or more to lose? I need 4st, just over.

yes, about 5 realistically. I needd to be under 10 to keep my lymphodema under control and will likely be needing to take this at a microdose longterm to control the inflammation. Im hoping that the trials currently being undertaken in the US will mean that it will be available on prescription for lymphodema and lipodema as a longterm low dose medication. But thats probably going to take some time

KittensAndCupcakes · 18/05/2026 09:48

@NettleTea happy woodland chuffing to you 🌳💨😂 Weirdly I have been less farty than usual since MJ.

Can I also ask you about what the research is on lipodema and lymphedema? I have noticed one area of my lymphedema has noticeably shrunk since starting.

Tulipwood · 18/05/2026 10:03

Had such a busy weekend and only coming up for air. I lost 2.5 lb this week which was the easiest weight I’ve ever lost. Not huge like some people get on week 1 but I was still eating 1600 calories a day so I’m really pleased.

We went out for dinner on Friday so I delayed my jab from Friday to Saturday so I could enjoy it. I didn’t have appetite suppression but the next day my stomach was NOT happy.

No appetite suppression yesterday so I had to use a lot of willpower but all seems to be fine today and I’m still not feeling hungry, which is unheard of for me.

Plan for this week is to drop my calories and 2 runs before we go away on Friday.

Hensandhearth · 18/05/2026 12:35

@NettleTea @peonym I have substantial amount to lose 5 stone for a healthy BMI and probably another 1/2 to a stone to feel right.

However, I finding that a bit hard to imagine. So I’m currently focusing on the first 2 stone! I’m not sure I can visual myself slim yet it’s been a long time!

KittensAndCupcakes · 18/05/2026 13:22

@Hensandhearth reading what you say about not being able to imagine yourself at lighter weight, I totally relate to that. Have never been slim in childhood or adulthood apart from when I was hospitalised for a serious illness - and that’s not exactly an inspiring memory! So doing as you are by just imagining a little bit down and then take things from there.

First jab last Friday and I have a shopping delivery tomorrow, what would you add? We already do cook from scratch most meals and eat meat, but having read through this thread, I need some more ideas to add to my daily diet, especially for protein. So far I have:

-Chia seeds
-Kiwi fruit
-High protein yoghurt/skyr (low fat or with fat for satiety?)
-Kefir drink
-Bottle of gaviscon

Ground flaxseed is great for your fibre and I’ve just had a little protein shot from Lidl which contains 8g of protein-looks like Actimel and actually quite nice! Oh, and loads of eggs!!! 🥚

Cottage cheese has become a real staple for me.

suneetime · 18/05/2026 14:09

@Crackery regarding protein needs there are various calculators online that work it out depending on your stats. I did two of these. One said I needed 102g per day, another said 88g. I’m logging in MFP and currently I’m averaging about 70g so whatever my target I’m still a bit low.

Proteinpudding · 18/05/2026 14:25

I had my first dose of wegovy yesterday. Surprised at how strong my appetite suppression is today, everything I had read suggested that the first week wouldn't make much difference as it was just an introductory dose in case of side effects. I have eaten small/nutritious meals as my goal with this is to build good eating habits, but in terms of appetite I could have gone without. It's a bit weird!

Anyone else had this at the start - I'm guessing this won't last?

Thanks for that. I've checked on 3 websites and my protein recommendation was 90g day, 126g and the last one suggest 220g a day- but that one sold proteins powders so I'm rather dubious! Either way, I definitely need to up my protein though.

ByNiftyPombear · 18/05/2026 16:03

Recommend warburtons protein thin bagels and high protein cottage cheese (got in Sainsbury’s) for an easy low cal/high protein breakfast/lunch

madeinthe80z · 18/05/2026 16:06

@Crackery @Kitten234 I went from medicine marketplace (£137 per pen as standard they don’t offer discounts) to Lotus (£114 per pen with their first time customer discount) my husband had already used them and sent me a referral code for £25 off but it didn’t work as their first time customer discount was better than his! It was very easy to swap, I just had to upload a front picture, side picture, driving licence and a pic of my current pen with prescription label clearly showing dose and date issued.

i went for 2.5mg again. I want to stay on it as long as possible. I am getting a fair bit of hunger creeping back as I head towards jab day but when I do eat, I still get full pretty quickly so I am happy at the moment. Might consider jabbing every 6 days instead of 7 in the future, but probably only as long as I get the old style pens with the golden dose available!

Numan offer £100 discount using their referral code. Here’s mine in case anyone wants it: https://www.numan.com/refer/REF-U49RMKYP

WoIsMe · 18/05/2026 16:37

I’m reading the thread with interest as I have my first pen arriving this week. My weight has been creeping up by about a pound and a half every month since starting HRT so I’m hoping to regain some control over my appetite.

just one of the trials currently being undertaken.
My lymphodema specialist said that at the last conference, it was all everyone was talking about!

Thanks @NettleTeaI’ll message you. How much do you get for the referral? If my husband uses your code for his next one (he needs to order this week) - he could then refer me and then save himself on his next pen maybe?

Joining as after over 18 months of flip flopping about ordering MJ I finally did and I jabbed for the first time today 😬

hoping to shift a chunk of weight that’s accumulated through 2 pregnancies and change my relationship with food going forwards

madeinthe80z · 18/05/2026 20:22

@Ismo456 well done and welcome 🤗

I have a bolt referral code for £40 off for new customers if anybody needs it. P.M me.

@ByNiftyPombear I genuinely can’t decide. I might have to toss a coin at this point.

Maybe I’m very strange, but the thing that I’ve taken a tigg with since starting MJ is hot squash. I bought myself a reusable hot drink coffee cup and been sipping on hot squash all day. I dunno why but it’s been really helpful for my dry mouth. It’s like a really fruity tea that tastes like the fruit on the box, not air!
