You’re so funny with your memes!

Apprenante · 22/09/2026 18:50

Oooh @Gingercar for the measurements!

Sending lots of ❤️ to @HKG . I don't expect your parenting was nearly so bad as you think.

How are you doing @ElsieJay ? Are you suffering from post holiday blues or really glad to be home?

ElsieJay · 22/09/2026 19:45

Hello, @Apprenante - we still have one more week to go !

Apprenante · 22/09/2026 20:37

How lovely - I'm not at all jealous. I am actually green with envy.

ElsieJay · 23/09/2026 06:59

I’m about ready to head home, to be honest , though DH would happily stay well into October .
DGD has already headed back to Uni in Italy and this coming weekend will be saying cheerio to DD , DSiL and DGS. 🥲
Thank goodness for all the tech we have available nowadays - I remember my aunt and uncle emigrating to Australia in 1960, and you had to book telephone calls !

Gingercar · 23/09/2026 10:12

HKG · 20/09/2026 22:18

@Gingercar im sorry the appetite is back, totally agree with Apprenante, all that exercise will totally up the appetite. I hope it wears off quickly. You have my total admiration for sitting next to those cakes! Keep going! You are doing tremendous!

I’ve had a terrible day being a terrible mother handling my pubescent boy terribly. Consequently been stuffing myself with all sorts of sugar and yet weirdly I don’t feel any better for it. Odd.

Only just saw this post. Hope you’re ok love. I bet you’re a fabulous mum. Teens can be hard work!

ElsieJay · 27/09/2026 07:18

How are we all doing ?

I’m a bit down this morning , after saying our goodbyes last night - we went out for a lovely meal and I ate more than was advisable, so coping with the effects of that also.

We had a sort of Group FaceTime with DS and his partner, rather chaotic but it made me wish we were all in the same country at
least. 🥲
Just feeling sorry for myself basically!

Megsdaughter · 27/09/2026 09:08

I came down with a cold on holiday, it got better then much worse when we got home leaving me with a terrible cough that has kept me awake most if the last week 😷🤒.

Still I havnt felt like eating because of it and lost the 2lb I put on and 2lb more making it 4lb this week!.

Off to see DS, DIL and DGD today as feeling better apart from the cough.

DBatteryBand · 27/09/2026 12:27

Feeling a bit low and saggy, here. I've had a heavy cold, too, this week which has made me feel really knackered. A lovely friend has died, which is making me feel very sad indeed - she was only in her 50s and I will miss her very much (and already was missing her, as she had been ill for a year or so and had moved to be near family). Work is full on and difficult, with lots of teenage angst to deal with. Teenaged angst and general angst at home, too, so it all feels a bit miserable. It will pass. Everything does.

I am a bit Eeyore-ish and need to snap out of it.

Edited to add - well done @Megsdaughter ! 4lbs is ace!

ElsieJay · 27/09/2026 15:21

Great loss , @Megsdaughter , but sympathies re your cold and lingering cough.

@DBatteryBand - not remotely Eyore-ish, how sad to lose your lovely friend at such a young age. With work and home life being difficult at the moment you have a lot on your plate xx

I had a few tears earlier, then quietly sat out in the garden for a while. I’ve so much to be grateful for, I know - including lovely DH who knows when just need a hug is needed, without “fixing” anything.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 27/09/2026 18:31

I’m sorry for dropping off the thread, would it be alright if I rejoined? It doesn’t sound like the best time to suddenly reappear. I’ve been reading but not replying for absolutely ages.

HKG · 27/09/2026 20:22

Oh my lovely friends, seems like there’s a lot of this going around. Sending love and hugs to you all @ElsieJay and @DBatteryBand . I’m also feeling down in the dumps and struggling with the teenage angst and the connected feelings of guilt at being a terrible mother.

group virtual hugs anyone???

Gingercar · 27/09/2026 21:25

Oh sorry you’re all feeling down in the dumps. It’s probably the cold weather kicking in?
im ok. Had our annual dog show at my cafe, who could be miserable with loads of super cute doggies and kids around?
Still haven’t got of this plateau, as usual, but getting very used to them!
Welcome back Did I Leave the Gas on. You don’t need to ask to pop back. Hope you’re ok.

Apprenante · 27/09/2026 22:07

Out for a walk around Fulham today and went to look in a church. There was a pet blessing service about to start so loads of dogs and cats - all apparently perfectly behaved. Full disclosure - i'm not a dog or cat person and not at all religious - but it made me very happy. So I can understand how jolly your cafe dog show must have been @Gingercar.

Welcome back @DidILeaveTheGasOn . How are you?

HereIGoOnceMore · 28/09/2026 12:41

Hi everyone,

Thought I’d post a hello to see how everyone is getting on. It’s nice to read the updates and send hugs to those having a bumpy time.

It feels a bit like the change of seasons last year when lots of us were struggling. I have said for years that I’m supposed to hibernate over the winter, and my body is signalling that I should be eating more in preparation for winter. I’m sitting here feeling very hungry right now, but with the double whammy that I’m trying to do it drug free.

I’ve gone backwards and forwards so many times about whether to stay on medication for life because of the additional benefits (and I am reading about them more and more as the pharma industry gets their evidence together). But I’ve decided that I also want to know if I can do it myself. So far - and I’m about 6 weeks in - I am keeping the weight off, but not enjoying the hunger. I’ll give it a bit longer, but ultimately while my goal is to stay slimmer, I don’t want to be miserable about if. If paying for a low dose of the drugs stops that, I’m tempted to keep going if I can afford it.

I also have another DC getting married (though not until 2028), so vanity, if nothing else will help my motivation!

ElsieJay · 28/09/2026 16:09

Woo hoo, @DidILeaveTheGasOn !! 🥳

Welcome back aboard our rickety old wagon , still trundling onwards (and downwards, though maybe not as quickly as previously).
We’ve saved a seat for you !

@HKG- group hug very much appreciated, my lovely . Thank you ❤️.
Feeling a lot better today , excited about going home, and very relieved to have done the packing , in a showery spell this afternoon).
Does anyone else HATE packing ?

@Gingercar and @Apprenante - lively to hear about the café dog show, and the pets service . I’m definitely a cat person, but loving the pictures both events conjure up .
Thank you both.

@HereIGoOnceMore - wow, I take my hat off to you , six weeks off the meds and keeping the weight off . You’re braver than me, I’m so afraid the flab will come hurtling back on. Congratulations on the wedding news too ! Great motivation .

Well , I’ve just jabbed and discarded my “holiday pen”- I’m pretty sure there was close to a full dose in there , but chickened out at 40 clicks (have been on 2.5mg, 30 clicks, but resent throwing any away when it’s so expensive).
Eating at the nearest beach bar tonight - they have a violinist on Monday evenings, and candles on all the tables, so it’s a lovely way to round off the holiday.
If he plays Con te Partiro, I’ll be a sobbing mess again - was DD and DSiL’s first dance at their wedding , and the words have huge significance for us as a family.

Gingercar · 28/09/2026 21:14

We’re going to a candlelight classical concert of Andrea Bocelli songs on Friday. I’m sure they’ll do that one. I love it.

Im having a grumpy day today! Still no scales movement and I’m ridiculously hungry/thinking about what I can eat all the time. Wondering why I wasted money forking out for two more pens last week, that miraculous week of suppression was clearly a one off.
On the positive side, I ran 2 miles today, without stopping and included the uphill bits, excluding the REALLY steep bit at the start. Pre weight loss I couldn’t even walk up the hill without several pauses, whereas now I can really stride up it and start running as soon as I’m at the top.

Apprenante · 28/09/2026 21:40

@Gingercar that is fantastic!

Foreveronaplane · 28/09/2026 21:55

Hello all!
After a fun summer (enjoyed all my girls being home), it’s back to the grind. Ive loved reading all your posts and keeping up to date on your progress.
Its good to know that many of you are still on this journey. Over the summer, I have struggled with the 10mg dosage .. so have decided I'm going to titrate down .. i have 1 1/2 pen @ 10mg left to see if thats any easier (overwhelming fatigue).

My weight has fluctuated up & down by c4 llbs all summer. So i need to refocus!

ElsieJay · 29/09/2026 04:24

That concert sounds wonderful, @Gingercar - love Andrea Bocelli.

DBatteryBand · 29/09/2026 06:31

Thanks for the kind comments.

@DidILeaveTheGasOn …as I live and breathe! How lovely to hear from you! Hope all is well.

Love the sound of the Andrea Bocelli concert. The running is amazing, @Gingercar . You must feel fantastic about it. I need to increase my exercise but mostly just feel like having a little lie down. I shall dig out my trainers and follow your example!

Gingercar · 29/09/2026 10:32

It’s amazing how quickly you build up. I started couch to 5k but it’s difficult to do around here as it’s so hilly, so I just walked a bit then ran a bit and did what I felt I could, gradually building up. Always walking up the hills (just incorporated them over the last month). Within a few weeks I was really surprised by how I could keep going. I guess I’d done a fair bit of walking prior to the running. I don’t use strava or any apps - I didn’t want to make it into a competition against myself. If I’m tired one day I might not go as far, or I might walk a bit. I currently enjoy it, I didn’t want it to be something I force myself to do. I try to do Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I do Pilates Tuesdays and swim 50 lengths on Thursday. Weekends I mostly just walk the dogs because I work weekends. Over the school hols I dropped it back a lot as I was working every day. But I feel fit and much more toned. It’s just the scales that aren’t moving (all 3 sets!!). Sometimes I think I should ditch the scales and jabs and just try to stay on this healthy lifestyle without the obsession. I just wish I could get this last stone off! I dropped into this stone bracket just after Halloween- so 11 months ago. That’s soooo slow! Not even a stone in 11 months. Depressing because I really have worked at this!

ElsieJay · 30/09/2026 07:02

You put me to shame, @Gingercar.

We’re back home , a long day of travelling yesterday and frustration at the airport - WHY don’t they board Special Assistance passengers first ?
Makes my blood boil 😡
Anyway we’re currently lying in bed ( with the electric blanket on ) listening to the rain .
What a difference a day makes !
Plan is to go to my WW class this morning, after Tesco delivery and (most importantly !) retrieving Madam 🐈‍⬛ from the cattery.
Anticipating an hour of being ignored …..
and praying that I remembered to put Dreamies on the Tesco order .

Gingercar · 30/09/2026 10:39

We always boarded special assistance passengers first, it was much easier. And disembarked them last. It depends on the airport though.

I think you put me to shame ElsieJay. You’ve got to goal and stayed there for months and months. I can’t even get there! I’m watching my scales creep up half a lb a day this week, with no obvious reason, despite working my butt off, and feel like giving up!
