Morning everyone. Hope all ok and coping well in the heat!

@ShebaQueen Menorca is beautiful, glad you had a good time. I’ll be on a plane in 3 weeks and I’m hoping that seatbelt does up with a bit to spare haha. I have had to ask for extenders before!

I went to London yesterday with my DD for her birthday and noticed I could fit in the underground seats easier (the ones with the side bars) and I walked through the c2c forward facing not jiggling sideways. Small wins!
My loss has slowed down but i
lost 2lbs over the past 8/9 days so now 46 lbs off. Currently 16st 9lb. Hoping I get on the plane at 16st 7lb that would make me very happy lol

@rockstarshoes enjoy your holiday too! And well done on your loss, but also enjoy your holiday. You know you will be back on it after, that seems to one of the great things about the jab.

@taratill your nail sounds painful, hope it stays on. I’m with you on the dogs walks at 6am although I’m not managing 10k steps, well done!

@MoneyJo hope you’re ok too. My loss has slowed down but unless it stops completely for more than 2/3 weeks I’ll continue on 5. Slower is better I think although my heart wants otherwise!

ShebaQueen · 26/06/2026 08:36

Morning @Beehivebabe, 46lbs is incredible! I love your tube NSV, last few times I have been on the tube I haven't had a seat, but am definitely going to check the fit next time.

MoneyJo · 26/06/2026 08:43

You're so right @Beehivebabe

I was on track for another pound on my weekly weigh day today (I weigh daily but only record jab day) but I seem to have put on a pound overnight, taking me back to last week's weight. I think I will ignore that!

taratill · 26/06/2026 18:03

Good grief I'm HOT! I'm so over this heatwave. I only have 3 decent bras and I've got the fat under boob sweating going on so badly that I can't wear a bra for more than a day.

I've been going for it with the steps this week. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I've done more than 20,000 but today I've done around 16,000 so far but have hit a wall. I'm not eating more so if I don't lose this week I'll be annoyed.

Menorca sounds lovely @ShebaQueen, glad it was cooler than here and that you enjoyed some cocktails. I know what you mean about holiday photos. I'm in very few as I hate my picture, especially my face which was like a moon face. My face has definitely slimed down thank goodness. Also great about the tray on the airplane! Have you told everyone you're on the jabs then? How did people react? The only person who knows is my DH, I haven't told anyone else.

@Beehivebabe I bet London was boiling! Hope DD enjoyed her birthday, did you do anything nice? I'm always looking out for things to do/ places to go as my son is at uni there so I'm there a lot more now than before.

@MoneyJo have the scales rectified themselves?

NSV for me is that DH said he doesn't think i need to get to target weight and he's worried I'll take it too far.

Thing is that I'm still in obese range. I felt really good when I was 3 stone lighter than I currently am.

I'm still hovering just above 13 stone. Can't wait to see the twelves!

ShebaQueen · 26/06/2026 18:49

Well done @taratill, the 12s are on the horizon! Your steps stats are so impressive and the bra comment made howl! I too am over this heatwave.

Re telling people, I did wonder which approach was best, in the end I just came out with it. Told my family first, my DH seemed surprised, my eldest said it was "wild" and he's asked me a few times how I will manage to come off it (answer: I probably won't ever). Overall people have not judged me, at least not to my face! Even my elderly Mum thinks it's good for my health to lose weight. I try not to be a bore about it, which is why I like chatting on here, and I do have a couple of friends and some colleagues who are on it and they have been really supportive.

@MoneyJo I agree, ignore the scales for now, I wonder if the heat makes a difference?

MoneyJo · 26/06/2026 20:09

Thanks @ShebaQueen and @taratill I am still ignoring the scales but I also know I haven't done many steps this week due to the heat. It will all be better after tomorrow when it gets cooler.

Beehivebabe · 26/06/2026 20:21

@taratill I too am over this weather. Being hot overnight is horrible 🥵Amazing step count especially in the heat!
London yesterday was actually ok, there was a strong breeze and the trains were all behaving and fairly empty. We went to Battersea power station shopping and lunch at Sticks & Sushi, which was a first for me. She’s having a party at home tomorrow but it was nice to do something just us and we live half hour into London so easy to do.

i too haven’t told many people altho someone said on Sunday gosh you’ve lost weight, are you doing Jabs and I didn’t have it in me to say no 😅

@MoneyJo hope your naughty lb is gone shortly! The heat makes you retain water I believe!

taratill · 27/06/2026 08:17

Woohoo this morning scales say 82.5 kg which is 12 stone and 13.9 pounds! Not my official weigh in day (that's tomorrow) but if this sticks I haven't seen this since pre-covid and ankle injury!

MoneyJo · 27/06/2026 08:21

That's wonderful @taratill

Beehivebabe · 27/06/2026 08:38

@taratill amazing!! Well done 🤩

taratill · 27/06/2026 08:55

Thanks @MoneyJo and @Beehivebabe feels like a big milestone.

I may consider couch to 5k again now!

MoneyJo · 27/06/2026 09:16

Go for it! I am hoping to give it a go again once the heat goes. I did C25K about 10 years ago and was so proud of myself by the end but didn't keep it up.

ShebaQueen · 27/06/2026 09:22

Amazing news @taratill! That weight loss is well-earned with all the steps you've done, even during the heatwave.

taratill · 27/06/2026 09:46

@MoneyJo pre- covid and my injury I was running half marathons. I don't think I will realistically get that level of fitness back but you never know!

I lost so much confidence and fitness and gained so much weight post ankle op so I really need to get going with it. It's already slightly cooler here today so I think I'll start this week.

Bearing in mind that I could barely walk before starting the jabs as my reflux was so unbearable this feels like a total miracle to me. I had so many side effects of being obese in the end which now seem to be going thank goodness.

Thanks @ShebaQueen I've really enjoyed getting up early and walking this week. DH was down at his mothers again as his dad is still in hospital and she wasn't coping with the heat and this gave me the kick up the arse as there was no one else to walk the dogs. I'm going to take it easier today I think though. Maximum 10,000 today I think as I feel quite physically tired.

What's everyone up to this weekend?

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 27/06/2026 11:49

@taratill Amazing milestone! So nice to see a new bracket. If you are thinking about c25k can I recommend None 2 Run instead? I am on week 8 and it feels much more doable than c25k - slower start and fewer big jumps. They have a pre start programme and a couple of follow on ones as well ending in a half marathon - I might not get that far but I am enjoying the process. It feels like an achievement but also doable. I never imagined I would manage running, but it seems to be happening!

Weigh in today was a sad affair. I’m not even going to acknowledge the number. Just a blank line in my spreadsheet. But it has been hot, and my first increased jab of 3.75 will be on Weds. I will keep on keeping on.

taratill · 27/06/2026 12:22

Thanks @SmallTreeDeepRoots I'll definitely take a look at None 2 Run, its' the big jumps that do put me off C25K. great to have an alternative recommendation. How are you finding it?

I would ignore the scales, it will be water retention due to the heat. Hope the first 3.75 jab goes ok!

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 27/06/2026 14:44

@taratill Yes, probably a combo of water retention and ready to increase the dose (have been on a stall for a few weeks now). But never mind! Just trying not to let it derail the project.

I’m loving the running. Now on week 8 and it has always felt manageable. The increase in running is much slower and I’ve never struggled. Sometimes I’ ve been tempted to skip ahead, but I’m just doing the program run by run and trying to trust the process. I am very good at talking myself out of things, so if I can stop otherthinking then I have a much better result! I am booking exercise classes everyday straight from work and just go - that’s also working really well for me. As soon as I start to decide whether to go or not, I am on the sofa and doomed - it needs to be an automatic process and a decision already made! So a magical voice in my ear telling me to walk or run slowly is great - no thinking, no decisions: just doing as I’m told.

MoneyJo · 27/06/2026 16:07

I bet you will get there @taratill

ShebaQueen · 27/06/2026 16:19

@SmallTreeDeepRoots I am so impressed with your running routine, and @taratill, what amazing progress! Must have been so hard to deal with the impact of your op.

I'm not a runner, but I do rely on a fixed routine to force myself to exercise. I don't allow myself to think about it, I leave out my kit ready the night before, get up and go. I'm already fitter than I've been in years and my ultimate goal (alongside getting to a healthy weight) is to have a flat stomach, it's a long way off though!

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 27/06/2026 17:47

@ShebaQueen I would love a flat stomach - but I have a long way to go! You are right, exercise happens when it’s automatic. I’m sure mj is working on other parts of me as well as the lard, as I have never stuck to exercising (and enjoyed it) ever. Some folks say it helps with adhd, so why not this too? It truly is a miracle.

taratill · 28/06/2026 10:09

@SmallTreeDeepRoots, that's great work with the running and the exercise classes. I need to buy some running shoes as my old ones are knackered and I just have M&S trainers that I have been walking in. I hate buying running shoes.

Thanks @MoneyJo, I would like to be able to have another go at a half marathon. That could be the end goal.

@ShebaQueen the last time i had a relatively flat stomach was around 18 years ago. I had gestational diabetes with my eldest and was really sick throughout his pregnancy so I was determined to get to a really low weight before trying again to avoid GD, which I did. I was 10 stone 2lbs before I fell pregnant with DD. I looked great then, After having her I never got below 12 stone I don't think even with the running. I was fat fit!

I think I might have overdone it in the week though, I still feel tired today and maybe a bit dehydrated.

Glad it's significantly cooler here. I am going to have breakfast then go for a walk. I ended at around 11,000 steps yesterday.
