Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we spring into spring not obsessing over Easter Eggs for the second year 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!
I’m on W68 D6 and on w12 of 2.5mg maintenance dose.

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10lbs
GW 9st 0lb
Total loss so far at lowest weight was 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0) maintenance has seen 4 of those pounds go back on.

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style/vinted chat too 🤗

@PinkArt ..I get similar..I'm in a size 18 .. because I don't like things tight ,but I get oh you must be a size 14 now ..nope definitely not .
But yes it's a big change, and maybe people are not good at judging sizes

Yes, I got this all the time. As I dropped from 42 BMI to 40, I got lots of cheerleading and encouragement. Once I hit 30 BMI, the first 'don't go too far' came out of nowhere. From BMI 30 down to about 25, they were just relentless, from such a wide range of people and always completely unprompted. Usually, I'd point out I was still medically overweight, which would often be met by sympathetic head shaking, as if despairing at the poor deluded victim sliding headlong into an eating disorder.

I actually found it incredibly insulting. Like, I'm an intelligent woman with agency. I'm not a teenager. I'm doing this because I have a family history of heart disease. Credit me with the ability to manage my own health. At one point I lost patience completely and replied to a comment from a colleague with 'and now shall I say what I think of YOUR weight?'

RayonSunrise · Yesterday 08:47

I wonder if it’s less about actual sizes, and more about becoming less recognisable as the “you” they’ve known? They’re trying to rationalise it (to themselves as much as you) as concern for your health, but it’s really cognitive dissonance. You not looking like you is worrying and they are reacting to their own worry, full stop.

They will get used to the new you. ❤️

As much as I hate the MNism of 'we've lost sight of what a healthy weight looks like' I do think we - the royal we - collectively have no idea what obese or morbidly obese actually look like.
My friends similarly thought I was being down on myself when I said at Christmas time I was still obese. BMI of 30 looks way more 'normal' than people expect. And even 40 doesn't look like the image people have for morbidly obese. I clearly looked big big then and not remotely healthy, but I think the expectation is that morbidly obese looks like 400+ pounds.

jay55 · Yesterday 13:28

I’ve had a few of the, are you going too far comments, I’m only just the right side of obese. And I do firmly say I’m still overweight and have a way to go.
To be fair my top half is showing lots of bones, but my bottom half is very, very pudgy.

Same here ..and the amount of people who tell me BMI is outdated and I shouldn't be going of it ,and I need to stop dieting...all of these people are currently thinner than I am..but only just ..and I suppose they were used to me being a size 32 ..for a very long time ...
I'm often desperately trying to move the conversation away from weight , because it's actually quiet boring after a while . people are odd

Goldleafcat · Yesterday 16:59

I’ve had the exact same experience. Even people who used to complain about me being too fat, who are now complaining I’m too thin 🤣 (MIL). Honestly it’s exhausting at times and I don’t know what it is about being a ‘formerly’ fat person that somehow means that randoms think they can comment on our bodies. It’s incredibly rude and overstepping.

I also used to have those ‘BMI is a crude and outdated tool’ conversations - when I look at pics of me when I was bigger now (BMI ranging from 27/30/37 and 40+) even at BMI 27 I was definitely overweight, particularly when pictured standing next to others. I mean, yes, it’s certainly a crude tool which is not perfect, but also, unless you’re incredibly well muscled / a body builder / professional athlete etc, I’d say it’s actually a useful guide!

I recall you telling us all at the time. What a put down that was 👏👏👏

I think the result of us losing weight for people on the cusp of being tubby is that they’d then have to address their own weight. And of course there are the competitively thin people who are angry because they’ve been starving for 40 years and don’t like you ‘cheating’. Either way it’s not you. It’s most definitely them.

My Dr actually said ‘perfect’ when my BMI was 23 and I asked him to update my stats on my notes. He did not say that when it was 30+ at all.

DH is losing steadily but has a bmi of over 30 and you would not describe him as anything other than big.

How’s the new flat? All that lifting and carrying will do wonders for your lower body and it will catch up. The most fascinating thing I’ve learned on this WL journey is that you cannot target any one specific area to lose weight from. Your body loses where it wants to lose from. Annoying as that is!

keep going and ignore the naysayers, you’re doing brilliantly 🙌

Has anyone seen the pictures of John Goodman lately? he’s lost an amazing amount of weight. I think he’s lost something like 200lbs. And was 400lbs to start with. Obviously he looks very very different and I guess the only downside to losing a dramatic amount of weight as an older person is that your skin doesn’t really catch up with you like it would’ve done if you lost a similar amount in your 20’s/30’s. That said, it’s the best thing you can do for your own health and well being.

2nd GW: 15st 4lbs

7 and a half pound klaxon 🥳 The end does feel in sight now, which it definitely didn't 7.5 stone ago.

@Freddiefisher I've got 12 pounds to go until my target but am tempted to round it to a neat 8.5 stone in total at 11 stone 2 pounds. I've had you're so tiny now and you must be a size 12 now - not tiny and my hips are snug in a 14! But for anyone who hasn't seen me for a while I get that it's a big visual change.

Incredible achievement! 🙌🥳💪

When I read about the water requirements with the pills I knew they were not an option for me. I’ll jab while I can and hope my brain comes around on its own in time.

have a brilliant celebration and honeymoon and all the champers.

Are most of you on here maintaining?
I'm still trying to loose another 2/ 3 stone
But I'm at the point where people in my life are telling me to stop .
It's really annoying that they feel it's acceptable to given an opinion.
Especially when I'm not mentioning the subject, they just think it's ok to start taking about my weight

Some of us are maintaining but there are some of us still going. It’s not a linear journey - we’re here if you need support or cheering on. The main thing is to keep going. Weight loss is like child rearing. Everyone thinks it’s fine to comment - especially when you didn’t ask for their opinion 😉

I find the best / most successful co-ords are the sleeveless ones (less pj, more chic) but I have terrible upper arms so haven’t braved them. There is a nice set which has sleeves at Scamp & Dude (a brand I appear to be addicted to!) which looks fab when styled on their website, but I just know that when I put it on I will look like I’ve wandered straight out of bed confused. It also has a gold motif which I can’t help but think looks like a golden snitch. It’s also quite expensive for what it is. So, unusually for me, I’ve managed to resist (so far…).

I have however had some brilliant finds lately on Vinted (a lot of lovely new with tags items greatly reduced including current styles from Boden and S&D much to my joy!).

Took two huge blue Ikea bags full of donations to the local charity shop and sent off two big bags of ladies clothes to Little Loop yesterday. I also have a pile of things to list on Vinted. For those who can’t be faffed with Vinted it might be worth looking at The Little Loop (or LLoop as they now seem to be rebranded to). I have experience of them from sending off kids clothes which they give you credit for, and they’ve branched out into ladies fashions now (very early days, building up their stock levels). They do have a list of brands they accept so you need to cross reference first but it’s an idea for those wanting to get a bit of money back without the same levels of faff. They also do clothing subscription stuff but I’ve not tried any of that.

Oh God YES to the pajama-alike coord. To think we used to chuckle over the people who infamously wandered to the shops in PJs & rollers. Now they are setting the trends!

I finally did find a coord I liked - an extremely pretty matched cami & skirt. I put it on and DH commented I looked like I was wearing posh nightwear. So sticking to wearing it as separates…

That sounds like a lovely combo. Can you wear it with friends instead? Cami’s are the holy grail for me - I literally wouldn’t get my arms out this time two years ago, now I love a cami top!

Hello
I moved this week and understandably forgot to jab, had no appetite but some food noise. It’s so weird after feeling 10mg wasn’t enough a week ago to being fine to stretch a dose a week later. Blame hormones.

Once cleaning of old place sorted my stressful events will be over and I can live life. I’m not allowing any more deaths/disease/disasters for the rest of the year, preferably 3.

Wedding was lovely, bride gorgeous, weather held off for ceremony.

Had a huge healthy shop delivered yesterday and will be back to cooking as soon as I unpack all I need.

loving the fashion talk. I’ve no patience for vinted but donated about 8 sacks of clothes the last two weeks.

Wishing you a lifetime of health and happiness in your new home 🥰

Vinted & WLI existing at the same time really is kismet. I've been buying a lot of size 14s on there recently that people have been selling as they lose and I'm sure some of my larger dresses sold to people a bit further back on their own journeys.
I used it to replace a couple of my old Tu dresses in smaller sizes while I'm getting used to what suits me at my smaller, but wobblier than last time it was this size, frame.

I totally agree with this. and now I check Vinted for everything and have sold some really random items on it. Far easier than eBay imo.

Oh, I hear you on food tracking. I also find it all-consuming and can only do it for relatively short periods, or at least not for ALL meals. It’s the added effort of home/interesting cooking that makes it labour-intensive, I agree. If only my idea of a sustainable diet was steamed fish and a pile of unadorned green veg day-in, day-out! 😁

I do find measuring out a “good” breakfast and set of make-ahead (meal prep) lunches far more sustainable, though. Then I can just improvise dinner, but the cumulative effect is still keeping my food ans nutrition on generally the right track. I find that lunch can be quite make-or-break. If I don’t plan ahead and eat enough of the right stuff (veg and protein-heavy, portion controlled) it’s too easy to under eat and then need to snack on something yummy but nutritionally irredeemable (I like the dark choc magnums, myself…) by late afternoon.

Totally agree that prepping is key here. I keep a bag of prepped veggies to munch on and a bowl of prepped fruit in the fridge. At least that way I can have a slice of pineapple/whatever before i decide if I’m actually hungry or thirsty. Or just bored. Usually it’s the latter.

Agree dark magnums are delish tho 😂

That is definitely my experience
I do an activity where I'm getting changed In front of other women,so they take that as a green light to comment on my body ..or tell me to stop ,or be careful..you don't want to lose to much ..
at some point ..I hope ..they will find other things to talk about .
So last year I lost 10 stone and this year I've lost two stone ,so I'm assuming it will take me till Christmas for another 2 stone of
And I'm happy with that .. actually very happy..
I'm really happy I'm not gaining, and the slower I lose the more chance I have of it staying of long term .
Because it was never my plan to stay on medication long term
I know it's advised that we do ...but financially..I won't be able to stay on it for ever .
In an ideal world I'd like to be of it by Christmas..but we shall see .
I dropped down to 10 mg, 2 months ago , having been on 15 mg for some time ,then down to 12 mg ..and it is harder to stay on track with less medication.
Next month I'd like to drop down again..but it depends how this 10 mg pen I'm just starting goes ..

Freddiefisher · Today 14:09

This is a good thread
I wish I stayed with you all from the start and got to know you all
I just got spooked when I realised I had so much more to lose than everyone else

But thanks for accepting me back xxxx

Happy anniversary @Mounjaropen
I'm also at my most active during the night on social media. I love a bit of nightime TikTok. My DS and DIL say I'm like a teenager on social media. I find it more relaxing when I can't sleep. My go to during the night has been my kindle for years but now I find concentrating on the storyline wakes me up while mindless scrolling is more sleep inducing.
