February 2026 starters

Crossfitgirl · 30/01/2026 12:00

Hi all, I have my first pen on the way and as far as I can see there is no starter thread for Feb, so I hope it's ok to make one.
All welcome whether recently started or looking to start this month - I think by the time mine arrives it will probably be February!
Hoping for support, experiences, recommendations, more support and the rest!

I am nearly 40, 2 young kids and full time job, starting on wegovy, with the goal of lowering my cholesterol (and reducing my huge belly).

I've been feeling really tired, and I've had a low level headache today (felt it a bit yesterday too but I'm prone to headaches so thought nothing of it) and it's worse this evening. I've struggled to concentrate at work, and paracetamol hasn't touched it.
Could this be a side effect? Anyone else had headaches? To be fair I haven't been sleeping great and I have a day off tomorrow so I'm hoping I can rest up a bit and feel better.
I've eaten regularly and drunk quite a bit today but I've barely had any protein, so do also wonder if it's that.

@Crossfitgirl the headaches could be related, definitely. I had a horrible, intense right-sided headache all day and night Saturday (first dose of 0.25WG Friday eve). It had mostly subsided by Sunday but was still in the background. I wasn't dehydrated. I do occasionally get headaches like this, so it is hard to tell. I thought perhaps a coincidence but maybe not! Sorry you're not feeling so great. It's good you have a day off tomorrow.

As for tiredness, 100%. I slept heavily Fri/Sat/Sun night and was ready for bed by 8/9pm - VERY unlike me. I didn't actually fall asleep that early as I like to watch TV in bed, but wanted to go up to bed IYSWIM?

Still no real gastro symptoms here for me, bowels ticking over nicely. BUT I am having whole foods and chia seeds daily, also keeping on top of the water. I'm very regular anyway. My biggest fear for WG was that I wouldn't go, I can't cope with being late/missing a day! It does make me feel really miserable 🤣

Hopefully it won't change when the dose increases. Fingers crossed.

Feel better soon!

I’ve got my first dose arriving on Tuesday or weds this week from Bolt. Where do you all inject? Some people say tummy, some say thigh and some say arm. Also can’t decide whether to do before bed or the morning.

I did my first WG injection on the left of my stomach, pinched an inch and stuck it in! Didn't feel a thing. I did it late evening too.

Just arrived…I’m pooping myself if I’m honest!

Go for it @Fullofpudding (if you want to of course!) I genuinely wish I hadn't waited so long to start.

Good luck 🙂👍

NedSchneebly · 03/02/2026 18:17

@fullofpuddingJust go for it - the reality is it is not as bad as the sense of anticipation...

Good luck!:

NedSchneebly · 03/02/2026 18:18

I'm doing OK - feel more thirsty than before, but no gastric issues so far...

Hope everyone is alright this evening x

InstantRegret · 03/02/2026 18:35

@Crossfitgirl I had an awful headache behind my left eye/temple for the 2 days after I jabbed but I get them when I’m stressed too so was hard to tell if it was a side effect 🤷🏼‍♀️

starmoonsun · 03/02/2026 20:16

@Crossfitgirl I've been feeling really tired too but wasn't sure if it was just being busy or a side effect 😂I was also feeling really cold earlier today which I rarely do, usually run on the warm side....
Haven't felt as hungry today as I did yesterday so that's good but also feel the suppression isn't as strong as at the weekend either.

Soup recipe is very easy

1 can chopped tomatoes
1 can baked beans
1 can green lentils
1 can mixed beans
4 carrots, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 leeks, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
Season

Put it all in a pan add 2 stock cubes ( or an equivalent) and enough water to cover it all.
Simmer for about 25/30 minutes.
Can blend it or leave chunky. I tend to blend it.

Just beware it makes a lot ( I'd say about 6 potions or more)

soupmaker · 03/02/2026 21:44

I’ve picked up the scales. The first set of scales I’ve ever owned.

So, the good news is that my starting weight is 15.10 so just under 100kg rather then over 16 stone. Still, means I’ve almost 4 stone to lose and I’m heavier than I was when 9 months pregnant with the DC.

WG pen is in the fridge but I’ve a dinner out with DH later in the month so holding off until after it as it’s a tasting menu with a wine flight and I’m worried about having lots of food and booze once I’ve started the WLI. Mid-Feb is when I’m going to get on it.

Still, I’m feeling positive. Sticking to 3 meals a day and managing to keep away from the snacks and white carbs (I’m a bread addict but it doesn’t agree with me).

Good luck to all us Feb starters.

Low grade headache has been my most persistent symptom so far (5days in). That and having random waves of nausea. Not terrible and I find sipping a glass of ice water and taking the odd gavsicon help.

I wanted to ask about appetite suppression though as I realised I don’t really know what it means (I never go off my food, stress is a real eating trigger for me). Anyway, I’m still getting hungry but at the same time have very little interest in actually eating anything. Almost like I’ve developed an aversion to food. Is that what it means?

JacJac77 · 03/02/2026 22:50

Can I join too? I have ordered MJ from Boots, but they said there are 'supply issues' so it may take a week or so for the first pen to arrive (they've taken the money though!) Am about to go away for a week, and am scared to start taking it just before I go in case the gastro side effects are bad, so likely to be a while before my first dose. I have a lot to lose, currently a size 24. I could probably have got the injections through the doctors but their lectures and judgement make my anxiety worse so decided to pay instead...

I know exactly what you mean. I’m only 14-hours in and I’m already feeling like that. Hungry but then I can’t really stomach eating. Have had occasional waves of nausea and a dry mouth so drinking loads of water. Hoping I get a good sleep and will be interested to see how I feel tomorrow. Oh and my stomach gurgling is crazy 😂

RedApplePie · 04/02/2026 06:28

It’s weird, isn’t it. I’ve woken up today definitely hungry but with zero interest in food. It’s not nausea, it’s just a meh feeling. Normally I’d be up and at the toast by now. I’m eating regularly simply because I know it’s important to do so

I’m the same as you, day 5 and I can feel the hunger more as the dose wears off but am full quickly and desire for junk food has stopped. Terrible headache day 1 but I’m prone to headaches when I change my HRT patch, nothing other than slight constipation and burping otherwise. There were 2 birthdays yesterday and 2 cakes which I would have normally devoured but I wasn’t bothered by.

starmoonsun · 04/02/2026 09:05

I'd say the same as previous posters about the suppression.
No desire for sweet things and crisps which is normally devour no problem. First 2 days didn't really feel hungry at all but day 5 I felt really hungry but didn't really fancy anything. Been trying to up the protein and fibre as am a glutton for carbs.

@chillicheeseandchocolate same here about cake, had a chocolate cake which I'd normally find hard to resist but had no desire for any. Will see if the same happens when its a Colin the caterpillar cake on Friday for another birthday.

I feel exactly the same as this! Including the headaches and very mild waves of nausea - but nothing a polo mint doesn't help with, I can still carry on with my day.
I have found the same, that I'm still feeling hungry (I think this is when the nausea edges in) but I don't have an "appetite" and have been happily leaving food on my plate (I'd struggle to do this before) once I feel full, which is much sooner than usual! I had one scrambled egg on a crumpet for breakfast, and left a couple of bites as I was full!

I'm also just not that interested in sweet things - I'll still eat them, but I'm not craving for them or NEEDING them like before. This is exactly what I was hoping for tbh.

Do you drink tea and coffee? My headache was terrible yesterday, and I have been trying not to have too much caffeine. Well, I struggled all day and finally had 2 cups of tea in the evening and my headache completely disappeared! I will post the advice from the Voy AI coach on headaches below :-)

I am feeling really gloomy and fed up today.
Am slipping into the bad habit of stepping on the scale all the time and it messes with my head!
So far despite eating SO much less than normal and injecting myself with drugs, I have not lost any weight and I know it's only the beginning but I am not having a good day.

I worry I’ll do this. I’ve never owed scales before now. Used the WW scales back in my early 30s when I lost over 3 stone.

However, I’m going to give you the pep talk I’d give myself. You’re 4 days in, this is a long game. Remember how long it took to put on. It’s going to take time and patience to take it off. Perseverance will pay off!

It will get better. Try to the gentle with yourself. And if the scales are bugging you, then get rid for a few weeks. Don’t let a temperamental piece of plastic that changes its mind every time you look at it dictate how you feel.

chillicheeseandchocolate · 04/02/2026 12:52

I echo @soupmakerand @RedApplePie to be gentle with yourself. I can become obsessive with the scales and will only allow myself to weigh twice a week. Sometimes the biggest wins aren’t measured by scales.

JustGettingReady · 04/02/2026 13:29

Hi everyone, I’d like to join this group, I have my first Wegovy pen coming any day!

I’ve been reading in the WLI board for a long time, but never had the confidence to just go for it, until now.
Signed up with Juniper yesterday, and was approved today. I’m nervous and excited. 😄

Really thankful I can navigate this with fellow February starters, and am looking forward to sharing things as we navigate our weight-loss journeys!

I’m early 40’s.
SW = 14st 7lb
GW = 10st 7lb
Even at my GW my BMI will be just over 25, but I just can’t imagine myself at that weight yet, so will see how I go.

I’m taking inspiration from you all and plan to inject as soon as the pen arrives! Eat the frog and all that. 😄

Perserverancepayoffplease · 04/02/2026 19:45

Welcome justgettingready! Good idea to just go for it.

Thanks for the kind words all. I think I'm going to ask my adult son to keep the scales in his room and only allow me access on a Sunday for a weigh in.
Dieting makes me crazy. I thought this would be different but no! I guess the associations are just too ingrained.

Hope everyone is feeling OK.

NedSchneebly · 04/02/2026 20:27

I'm proud of me - my husband was away last night, when previously I would have picked and nibbled on all sorts of crap, but i didn't feel the need. Also, I went to tesco after work to get a birthday card, and didn't buy anything else. Before, i would have bought sweet stuff, and eaten them in the car on the way home so my husband wouldn't see them...

Its definitely helping the killer time between the end of school, and dinner time, where I used to graze...

JustGettingReady · 04/02/2026 21:04

Thank you @Perserverancepayoffplease, and I like your idea of only having access to the scales for weigh in day.
I’m also likely to step on the scales a lot, which I know won’t be helpful to my mindset. I think I’m going to try and just do a weekly weigh in.

Great to hear the difference it’s making for you too @NedSchneebly I think these are the little changes that also add up over time. My biggest weakness is the time between school finish and dinner, so I really hope it helps me the same as it’s helping you.

Hope everyone is feeling ok too.
