February 2026 starters

Crossfitgirl · 30/01/2026 12:00

Hi all, I have my first pen on the way and as far as I can see there is no starter thread for Feb, so I hope it's ok to make one.
All welcome whether recently started or looking to start this month - I think by the time mine arrives it will probably be February!
Hoping for support, experiences, recommendations, more support and the rest!

I am nearly 40, 2 young kids and full time job, starting on wegovy, with the goal of lowering my cholesterol (and reducing my huge belly).

NedSchneebly · 30/01/2026 15:37

Can I join? Although I actually injected my first one today, so a bit early!! Feel OK so far...

@NedSchneebly Done 😊

Hurrah - well done!! We're on day zero together then!

I'm a just-turned-50 teacher, with one son at university.

Soooooo many pounds to lose... I don't even know what my target weight is!

starmoonsun · 30/01/2026 20:48

Hi, can I join too please?
I did my first injection of Mounjaro today although I've had it sitting there for a few weeks. Always seemed to be a reason to postpone doing it but finally plucked up the courage today. It was a lot easier than I thought and didn't hurt at all.

Hoping to lose about 4.5 stone.

Yes ladies! My pen is due to arrive tomorrow, from Voy. I've been really impressed with their programme and app so far.
I'm just debating whether to take mine tomorrow night or to wait until Sunday morning, or maybe next Friday so any side effects happen at the weekend? I work doing home visits in the community so I can't easily access a toilet during the week...

How are you both feeling?

I feel OK - a bit queasy/ refluxy and burpy a couple of hours after, but not really anything since.

Not much effect to "food noise" but I hope it'll kick in over the weekend!

May I join?

After much fannying about as been away and this and that, I've FINALLY just taken my first 0.25 Wegovy that I've had in the fridge for nearly 3 weeks!. Also with Voy.

Reallly straightforward to do jab, didn't feel a thing. I was a little anxious about it all but glad it is finally done. 45 here, I'd like to lose between 2.5 and 3 stone. Family hiatory of Diabetes and heart issues so trying to sort myself out.

yummychocolate · 30/01/2026 22:19

I did my injection for the first time today. I am really scared about side effects. I thought I would time it for the weekend just in case. I hope this is a successful journey for us all.

DanaScullysLegoHair · 30/01/2026 22:25

Same @yummychocolate I keep reading all these stories that pop up in the news. There is a risk with everything really but it's highly likely the majority of us will get some mild/moderate common side effects and not much else. Can only try it and see!

🙂

chillicheeseandchocolate · 31/01/2026 07:03

@Crossfitgirljabbed yesterday afternoon, felt exactly like @NedSchneebly. Had a banging headache overnight and terrible sleep, taken some painkillers this morning. Can’t report on the food noise yet but I don’t usually have breakfast till 10.30-11

TwoNicePuppies · 31/01/2026 07:52

Can I join on behalf of my hubby; a self confessed Luddite without a smartphone or knowledge of how to use the internet, but I got him a pen (at his request) and it might be good to share tips and tricks as we don’t actually know anyone taking them? He’s starting tomorrow, I’m nervous/excited for him!

DanaScullysLegoHair · 31/01/2026 09:07

Hello everyone 🙂

Just popping in to report on my first night after the Wegovy (0.25). Well, nothing at all happened, I slept quite heavily I think. I took mine at 8.30pm last night, up to bed with a sleep tea at about 9.30 and watched TV until midnight.

However, I have 'prepped' myself by not having any alcohol all week, drinking lots of water and eating whole foods. I wonder if this has helped?

I know it is really kicks in about the 48-72 hour mark so will be interesting to see how I feel tomorrow evening.

The only thing I can pick up on is a slight headache. Yesterday, my wee indicated I was a bit dehydrated despite the water, but I'm putting that down to too many coffees as we just bought a new fully automatic machine and been testing it out 😁

Edited for spelling.

starmoonsun · 31/01/2026 10:42

I'm also on Voy, has anyone else using it done the introductory meetings and things?

No side effects for me so far apart from feeling a bit queasy last night after dinner, fingers crossed that's it.

Definitely struggling to eat anything like normal portions already, breakfast was 3 spoonfuls of oat yogurt, 2 strawberries and 8 blueberries with a sprinkle of granola and only managed about 3/4 of it. Also had a coffee.

Need to remember to drink enough though as can be a bit bad about remembering and then down a whole glass in one go.

yummychocolate · 31/01/2026 10:56

I survived the first night. 😊like @starmoonsun i felt a bit queasy after dinner too but not sure if it was all in my head. I feel i need to keep busy to stop me thinking about the possible side effects.

DanaScullysLegoHair · 31/01/2026 12:10

@starmoonsun I haven't booked one yet but will do when I get my head around timings. I have looked at all the little 'lessons' though.

Hope you and @yummychocolate don't have any more queasiness today!

My headache has intensified. Drinking water and no more coffee as yet. It could just be a coincidence.

I did an introductory meeting yesterday - it's mostly a clinician explaining the app, with a few other bits of info about how to get the most out of Voy - they have free 1:1 coaching included, how to change dose or get in touch re problems etc, and a chance to ask questions. I have been really impressed with them so far to be honest, I'm pleased I went with them. The main thing I took from it was that you can lose muscle more so than without the jab, so they highlighted how protein intake and weight training is really important alongside.

Right, I have my box in front of me, I'm about to open it!
I think I'm just going to go for it and do it now.
I haven't told ANYONE, not even DH so I don't plan to keep it in the fridge, so once I've unboxed it from the cool packaging I'll have to have it tonight, or I can probably sneak it in the fridge tonight and take it in the morning first thing.

Do we think now, or morning would be best??
Has anyone had any bad experiences taking it at night time? I have also just eaten a big meal... Maybe I should wait til the morning!

Thoughts??

I'm also anxious about side effects during the working week, as I do home visits so I'm not always necessarily able to access toilets quickly. But I think I just need to do it. Otherwise I never will!

@Crossfitgirl I think for some people side effects happen soon after a few hours or even a couple of days later. I've read some people don't eperience any side effects. I chose to do mine around lunch time yesterday when I was at home. In my head I wanted it to be day time if something drastically went wrong and needed to go hospital. That's how irrational I was being. 😁 Like you, i was worried about work so chose to do it at the weekend. Hopefully you won't experience any side effects. Since feeling a little queasy after dinner I have been ok today. Everyone seems to be different.

Thanks, good to know. I have just injected my first Wegovy dose, very nerve wracking tbh but much easier than I thought - and plan to have an early night so hopefully I'll be asleep for any side effects!

It's my turn to get up with the kids in the morning, wish me luck!

DanaScullysLegoHair · 31/01/2026 21:56

Just missed your posts @Crossfitgirl! Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine 👍🙂

I've eaten pretty much normally today. Wolfys nut/honey porridge pot with blueberries and chia seeds.

Slice of chicken as a snack and then Hello Fresh cajun salmon with potatoes for dinner. Again, totally fine, no gastric issues at all and the headache has subsided.

Hope you sleep well OP.

NedSchneebly · 31/01/2026 22:02

I've had no gastric issues today at all... hope everyone else is doing OK - sounds like lots have taken the plunge!

Breakfast - cup of tea with collagen powder ans a banana
Lunch - cottage cheese, oatcakes, apple, cucumber
Supper - small.portion of pheasant curry. Glass of wine!

Crossfitgirl · 31/01/2026 22:30

Oh I'm so glad to hear no side effects happening yet for you! Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Meals all sound very healthy - I will share what I'm eating tomorrow.
I'm going to ask the Voy app coach how to boost my protein in my usual meals. I'm definitely going to sleep now I promise 😅

starmoonsun · 31/01/2026 23:36

Well done Crossfitgirl, think that first injection is the worst bit.

I haven't had any side effects today. Plus normally I reach for the snacks in the evening but haven't thought about it tonight, even with birthday cake around, so all positive so far.

Hope you get a good night's sleep and feel ok in the morning.
I need to think about protein level too I think, thanks for the reminder.
