February 2026 starters

Crossfitgirl · 30/01/2026 12:00

Hi all, I have my first pen on the way and as far as I can see there is no starter thread for Feb, so I hope it's ok to make one.
All welcome whether recently started or looking to start this month - I think by the time mine arrives it will probably be February!
Hoping for support, experiences, recommendations, more support and the rest!

I am nearly 40, 2 young kids and full time job, starting on wegovy, with the goal of lowering my cholesterol (and reducing my huge belly).

I’d like to join too just signed up to SheMed waiting on blood test then they’ll send pen

Perserverancepayoffplease · 01/02/2026 00:09

Hello! Can I join in?
I have got my first dose of mounjaro in the fridge. Was going to take it last night but didn't.
Went out for dinner tonight😳 so still haven't.
Am going to pluck up the courage and do it tomorrow.
Have got lots of weight to lose. Ideally about 6 stone but I can't imagine that ever happening.

Making the decision to take this has brought up lots of difficult feelings for me around my identity. I have been fat for so long and have been on so many diets. I'm quite nervous about how this will work out and worried in case it doesn't.

Beekman · 01/02/2026 00:13

I picked up my first Wegovy tablets from the pharmacy last night but don’t know when to start them. They have to be taken daily in the mornings with a small amount of water and at least 30 minutes before any other food, drink or tablets.

I’m scared of the side effects, both short and long term, but also excited about the potential benefits, not only weightloss but less inflammation and hopefully heading off diabetes.

I want to lose 40-50lbs ideally but even a stone off would feel great.

This sounds like such a big step for you, but well done for looking to make a change.
I had to just do it without thinking about it too much, as I know I would have talked myself out of it.

So after my first jab last night, I slept well (apart from when my 4 year old got into bed with me) and haven't had any side effects yet!
I've had my normal breakfast (Weetabix with blueberries) and loving the meal analysis that Voy does with helpful suggestions of how to add the correct macros.
Eg it's suggested I add Greek yoghurt to add protein, and told me it's too carby and not quite enough fibre - which I will adapt next time.
I think the Voy app alone is going to help me learn a lot about food.

I don't work for Voy honest 😂 but I'm surprised. I did actually think most of the companies are all about the money in all honesty so expected it to be gimmicky, but I'm actually really impressed.

Morning all,

@Crossfitgirl glad to hear all is well this morning. Thanks for the heads-up on adding food to the Voy app, I'm using NutraCheck and put mine in there but sounds like Voy will be more helpful to keep on top of the protein.

Hello @Perserverancepayoffplease and @Beekman. If it helps @Perserverancepayoffplease, I have 2 friends who take MJ, one is a woman in her 20's and a man in his 50's, both have lost several stone each without any problems. They have experienced unwelcome gastric side effects if they've had fatty or rich food but I think that is common sense and expected!

This morning, I'm just having a tea with milk and sugar. Will have some eggs and avo on rye bread a bit later. No side effects to speak of (except yesterdays headache) and everything seems to be ticking over as normal. I wish I'd just started the Wegovy when I got it 3 weeks ago 🤣

chillicheeseandchocolate · 01/02/2026 09:24

Morning,
Day 2, yesterday not too bad. Had a headache I couldn’t shift and couldn’t eat much but think that was due to lack of BM. Had a few prunes last night and today feel so much lighter and brighter. Hopped on the scales and down 1.5lb - most likely water weight 😊
Good luck to all that are starting this month.

starmoonsun · 01/02/2026 09:34

Hello everyone, new and old

@Crossfitgirl glad to hear it's all going well so far.

I'll start to track food on the app from tomorrow (bit chaotic here this weekend as daughters birthday sleepover last night) sounds like it'll be good as I'm not 100% sure of the best things to eat while taking MJ yet.

Was a bit worried as we went out for a Thai meal yesterday, I had my usual of noodles and no adverse effects apart from feeling full all evening and no snacking/cake last night.

Have a good day everyone.

Perserverancepayoffplease · 01/02/2026 11:55

Have just done the first injection! Nerve wracking! Fingers crossed for no side effects 🤞

InstantRegret · 01/02/2026 12:13

Hi all 👋🏻 Hope you don’t mind me hopping on here. I took my first MJ jab on Thursday so am a fair bit behind most of the people on the January chat, although it’s very much worth the read if you have the time. I shall probably flit between the two 😆
Re the jab, I was so nervous so hoping the 2nd jab will go a lot smoother! I felt very jittery on Thur/Fri and had an awful headache Fri/yest but feel fine now. No appetite suppression as of yet but it’s early days.
I chose to jab early afternoon as I knew if I did it before bed I wouldn’t be able to sleep not knowing what side effects I’d wake up to 😆
I am with Voy too although I don’t think I’ll be able to stay with them as they are too expensive for me!
I’ve been using Nutracheck to track calories but the Voy app is useful too 🙂
Glad to have a place to chat about things with people that can relate. Nobody knows I’ve started this journey as I can’t be doing with the negative opinions and disapproval! 🙄

DanaScullysLegoHair · 01/02/2026 12:28

Good luck @Perserverancepayoffplease, I hope it all goes smoothly for you in the next few days!

@InstantRegret I will admit to being a bit sniffy about WLI in the past. But then I realised how judgemental I was being. I think it's that whole unhealthy narrative around diets. With health and weight being a matter of sacrifice and self-control. It leads people to feel shame for needing some help or feeling they're not trying hard enough. Which as we all know, for some people it's just not true.

We're all trying to be healthier and make improvements, I don't think we should be ashamed of that.

@DanaScullysLegoHair you are so right 👏

Beekman · 01/02/2026 13:23

I have put it off for months and months because of the potential side effects but then I had a sort of epiphany thinking that diabetes will get me sooner or later and that will almost certainly be way worse than some side effects from the GLPs, so what is there to lose? All my life I have dreamt of a magic pill and here it is.

I’ve lost 100lbs+ “naturally” but the rest was not shifting, believe me I have tried, so I’m excited to see if the tablets actually work.

Good luck everyone

DanaScullysLegoHair · 01/02/2026 14:39

Good luck @Beekman, you're 100% correct in taking action now.

I feel exactly the same as you - i have been overweight for ever, and I'm terrified it won't work...
Just get cracking - we don't know until we try, eh?

Hi everyone, I hope you don't mind me jumping in on your group and joining. I have had a jab sitting in my fridge (hidden) for a week and I can't take it. I'm too scared!

I haven't told ANYONE I'm doing this. I did the carnivore diet for 3 months and lost 28lbs so all my family knew. Then I went AWOL on the diet over December/Jan and I have now said I'm starting on a low carb diet again so my family are none the wiser!

How is everyone feeling? I think I'm just scared of all the side effects and having a heart attack in my sleep and dying (OTT I know!) and then everyone finding out that Wegovy killed me 😂

Beekman · 01/02/2026 17:04

I’m scared too. I’m not starting til next Sunday because I have a very busy week ahead and cannot risk having digestive issues but next Sunday I am going for it.

Am I afraid? Yes. Am I afraid of diabetes and further weight-related issues? Yes, even more so.

I haven't even told DH. I've hidden it in a zip up makeup bag that I normally use to keep tampons and pads in, in the bottom drawer of our ensuite bathroom. I already feel like I should tell him now, as I know he'll be annoyed if he finds out. But I also know that he will judge and think less of me (even if he doesn't say it) as I've heard what he thinks of others on it. So yeah, I think I can do this slowly enough to do it without having to share this, as I'm also seeing the expense as another good reason to really knuckle down with the diet and exercise.

I've felt a little queasy mid morning, but it went away once I ate - then again just before I had tea. I think it's possibly just me and nerves and being hypersensitive as I'm worrying!

I've had absolutely no cravings at all today. Haven't wanted any sweet stuff.

This is a first!!!

I am not telling anyone even DH. I'm also starting a new healthy eating plan and I aim to weight train twice a week, so really the wegovy is for my sweet cravings. I know exactly how to eat healthy, but I just can't control myself if I want something sweet and that's embarrassing to admit. I'm an adult and I can't just not eat it? Ridiculous.

Anyway, I just thought about how my high cholesterol could lead to a heart attack or stroke. If I don't do something now, I could be in serious trouble. I value my health more than anything, and dieting has always always failed for me. I need the help.

So once I opened the packet I just did it there and then straight away without thinking too much because if I'd not done, I'm sure mine would also have been sat there for weeks while I dithered!

I just thought, fuck it. If I get side effects, they will only last a few days and I don't have to take any more after that. I've managed pregnancy sickness, sickness bugs, much worse - and Voy also sent a care package of anti sickness tablets and diarrhea tablets with the pen so I've got that as backup.

I don't feel I've really had any side effects yet, apart from less sweet cravings and a bit of mild queasiness which I think was me actually being hungry without realising as it went away when I ate!

OP posts:
starmoonsun · 01/02/2026 18:26

I also haven't told anyone, can't face the judgements and know my partner would just say it's a lazy way of losing weight.

I've tried SW for a long time previously and was fine with meals but those sweet cravings still took over.

Can't believe that how little I've felt like eating already this weekend, no reaching for biscuits, sweets etc, we've got cake and sweets in the house which I haven't even looked at. My daughter left a tiny piece of cake at lunchtime and normally I'd have finished it but not today, didn't fancy it at all.

Hope it continues as so far seems positive.

Mediumred · 01/02/2026 18:37

Hi, can I join? I took first wegovy jab on Fri, umm, no side effects and have been eating less but am able to face food and I still managed quite an impressive amount of wine ydy (drinking is def an issue for me and I am hoping the jabs will help with that)

currently about 10 stone 8 (but am quite short)

gw maybe about 9 stone?

Perserverancepayoffplease · 01/02/2026 18:44

I'm feeling fine so far🤔
All I've had to eat today is a banana and two Nice biscuits as I've been out and about but I'm feeling ok. Not ravenous as I normally would be. I don't know whether this is the drug or just psychological!

RedApplePie · 01/02/2026 18:47

I started Thursday on MJ, so just squeezed in January. I’m doing fine so far. A bit of queasiness and very cold on Friday but not much else. Appetite way down. I also haven’t told anyone which I feel enormous guilt about but honestly can’t cope with any judgement, the decision was hard enough. Funnily enough I think I’d feel less bad if it was a tablet, which is weird. Possibly because it wouldn’t feel as deceitful as I wouldn’t be hiding it in the same way. Anyway, I collect rather than having it delivered and I’m just going to have to make sure I do so at the last minute each month so that it doesn’t need refrigeration.

Perserverancepayoffplease · 01/02/2026 18:55

I've told my husband and my eldest son as he lives with us and would see it in the fridge. They're both being super supportive, thank goodness.

That is great news. It'll be good to have that support and not worry about being 'found out' 🙂
