February 2026 starters

Crossfitgirl · 30/01/2026 12:00

Hi all, I have my first pen on the way and as far as I can see there is no starter thread for Feb, so I hope it's ok to make one.
All welcome whether recently started or looking to start this month - I think by the time mine arrives it will probably be February!
Hoping for support, experiences, recommendations, more support and the rest!

I am nearly 40, 2 young kids and full time job, starting on wegovy, with the goal of lowering my cholesterol (and reducing my huge belly).

Hi, can I join? I took first wegovy jab on Fri, umm, no side effects and have been eating less but am able to face food and I still managed quite an impressive amount of wine ydy (drinking is def an issue for me and I am hoping the jabs will help with that)

currently about 10 stone 8 (but am quite short)

gw maybe about 9 stone?

I'm a similar weight to you with similar goal weight :-) I'm also a shortie!

Hiya @Crossfitgirl 👋

aww, like the name, I also don’t mind the gym/being active but it’s not enough to counteract the wine weight-wise! I am pretty good with my food generally, rarely eat cake/biscuits etc but prob just eat too big portions, hope wegovy can help 🤞

TwoNicePuppies · 01/02/2026 20:20

Hubs has just done his first injection (eek) I’m nervous but excited for him.

Fullofpudding · 01/02/2026 21:48

I’ve got my first dose arriving on Tuesday or weds this week from Bolt. Where do you all inject? Some people say tummy, some say thigh and some say arm. Also can’t decide whether to do before bed or the morning.

soupmaker · 01/02/2026 21:48

I’ve been overweight most of my adult life. I’ve lost weight on numerous occasions but never kept it off. I’m mid-50s and pre-diabetic so plucked up the courage to speak to DH and he was so encouraging. Have bought a set of scales for the house, have my first WG pen in the fridge. Have a week off work later in February so starting then. Feeing very apprehensive. I’m active, have been weight training one a week for 2 years and do cardio twice a week so hoping that helps. Feeing more positive than I have in a long time. Been eating better in January and kept off alcohol for most of the month. Can’t talk to anyone apart from DH IRL about this as I just feel shame that I’ve allowed myself to get so big. So,

SW 16.1 (or thereabouts as this is what I weighed at my mum’s in October), will find out exact weight when scales arrive.

TW 12.0 (or if it goes really well 11.7)

I’m 5’9” and a size 18/20. I look like a barrel on legs. I’m all tummy, it’s bloody huge.

I want to lose slowly and get into better habits so I keep it off. I comfort eat and the food noise is always worst from the afternoon onwards, hoping this gives me the boost I need to change.

I did my thigh

NedSchneebly · 01/02/2026 22:08

I did in my (extensive) belly! I read somewhere that right hand side is better as its closer to the stomach, but that could be bollocks...

Crossfitgirl · 01/02/2026 22:30

@Mediumred I enjoy exercise (old username - unfortunately I had to stop CrossFit about 5 years ago - family life logistics and expense) but I have just joined a normal gym and would love to get back into functional fitness.
Portion size isn't too much an issue for me, although I am a snacker and could graze all day! I do love cakes and bakes. I'm hopeful after today that cravings are well and truly curbed!

@Fullofpudding I did my tummy as it seemed easiest. It says to rotate the site each week on my instructions but I will probably just stick with a different side of my tummy.

@soupmaker you sound similar to me. I don't actually look particularly overweight, but I could look heavily pregnant - it's literally all belly.

My BMI is 27, and my body fat % is 41%!! I'm so worried about visceral fat and how that can be worse health wise than carrying fat elsewhere. I exercise twice a week but I'd love to do more, it sounds like you are active and enjoy exercise but also enjoy food! I chose wegovy for the slower steady loss (have heard MJ has faster losses) and I'm also trying to build new habits.

Good luck to us all!

I've had a terrible night's sleep due to my child (disturbed me all night!) and I feel a bit crap this morning and can't decide if it's just tiredness or if I feel worse than usual when I'm knackered. I feel a bit queasy, and have been to poo a few times! I do get bowel issues quite a lot (I think possibly undiagnosed IBS, or a mild version). I've got a smoothie made for brekkie which I haven't had yet, so I'll see how I feel after that.

Off to have a shower now to wake myself up!
Hope everyone else has a good week!

ELB73 · 02/02/2026 08:33

Thanks for the update and hope you feel better after the shower. It's a Monday too and I usually feel worse after a disturbed sleep after the weekend.

I've taken the next step of removing my jab out of the box and actually looking at it! I think I might take the plunge and do it this morning. But I've got to take my daughter to netball tonight. I can deal with headaches and nausea when I'm out but not diarrhoea!! Might think about it a bit more...

RedApplePie · 02/02/2026 09:16

Day 4 for me today and am getting a bit fascinated with checking the Shotsy app to monitor my MJ levels. It’s the little things 🙂. I’m still feeling ok, have been sleeping reasonably well for me, have the odd wave of nausea but it passes. I can have terrible IBS-D so have been worried about that but so far so good. I’ve been quite loose (sorry!) when I go, but not going multiple times so will take that as a win. I do need to eat more though, I don’t want rapid weight loss causing any gall bladder issues and apparently I’ve lost 5lb in 4 days. I know that won’t be fat yet, but still. I’m never normally someone who has fast initial losses. I have some suppression but I suspect I’m also restricting because I’ve been scared of causing either 💩 or 🤮. I’ve eaten a lot of chicken and broccoli the last 4 days and not much else. The food chatter has reduced enormously. Plus I’m constantly peeing! I’m never out of the loo, which is where that 5lb will have come from. Have a good day everyone!

WhoInvitedHer · 02/02/2026 10:03

Can I join please? Bought my first WG pen but decided not to start until i return from holiday which will be mid Feb. Only my husband is aware and he is very supportive. I am 63 and retired recently so have no excuse about exercising but don’t really do any. That has got to change. Have been reading threads and my take on this is that I need to up my protein and water intake, lower my carbs and do body conditioning training with weights to minimise muscle loss. Going to try and do 3 sessions a week as we have weights as my husband is into fitness training. I’m also planning to calorie count with Nutracheck to make sure I am in deficit. Also cutting out the wine as far as possible. Maybe just have one occasional glass.

SW 64.5kg but am short with a BMI just over 27 but I carry it all on my hips, belly and thighs. I aim to lose 12kg and am happy for it to fairly slow as long as it’s going in the right direction.

Perserverancepayoffplease · 02/02/2026 10:47

Sorry to hear about the poor night's sleep- hope the day improves. I felt a bit jittery and wired last night and first thing but that's calmed down now. Don't know if it was the jab or something else.
Have swapped my morning banana for boiled eggs.
Need to remind myself to drink.

Am goingvto venture to the gym tonight. Being paying for it and not using it for more than a year. 😳

TheEgg2 · 02/02/2026 15:15

Hi all, I’m Sally, 56 with long term weight issues and really reassured that everyone on here is going through the same motions as mr and having the same thoughts.
I’m 5’ 6”” and weigh 14st 3 lbs. I need to get down to 10st 10 lbs to hit the “normal” BMI range. I haven’t been under 13 st for 20 or so years so a bit of an ask. I’m on two lots of blood pressure meds and GP wants to move me onto statins as high cholesterol.
I’m really worried about any possible impact on my teenage daughters, one of whom is underweight and not eating well….i am hopeful that she won’t really notice.
I already walk the dog a lot, swim twice a week and play table tennis, I’m also on SW but my fat is stubborn!
looking forward to losing with you all!

@RedApplePie you’re lucky to have lost weight already! I jabbed on Thursday and scales have barely moved for me 😕 I’ve had zero suppression though 🙄
Isn’t it odd how it impacts everybody so differently 🤔

starmoonsun · 02/02/2026 20:55

I've been so hungry today but haven't wanted the sweet stuff I would normally grab so taking that as a positive. I didn't eat much at all yesterday as it was a busy day so hoping that is the reason for the hunger today.
Have made a huge batch of vegetable soup with lots of beans in for protein so hoping that'll help make me fuller for longer.

Perserverancepayoffplease · 02/02/2026 21:08

I've just added up all my food and have eaten 900 something calories . Dinner tonight was a roast which i had no problem eating!

Haven't had any of my usual snacks bits though.
Feel absolutely fine.

Crossfitgirl · 02/02/2026 22:16

Just heading to bed for the night, sounds like there's been some good days for most! @Perserverancepayoffplease how do you feel? Managing 900 cals with ease will result in significant loss, I am sure.
@starmoonsun do you have a recipe for the soup? I also feel like I've needed to eat a bit more frequently, but not sweet stuff. Such a strange, but positive feeling.
@InstantRegret weight can fluctuate so much, and it's only been a few days - give yourself some grace. Have you felt any other effects? I am not focusing too much on actual weight, and I have a dress I'd like to fit in again as my goal. I also have scales that do body fat % so I'd like to get below 40% fat. I expect it'll take a while. Have you got any other measures of success?
@TheEgg2 welcome and well done on being so active already! I'm sure the rest will start to shift. I also have high cholesterol which I'm hoping to change.

I feel like I've not been particularly hungry today, but then I've started to feel sort of queasy ish... So I've eaten and been fine - and I've been able to stop when I'm full. I think the queasy feeling is when I'd usually be hungry maybe?! I made myself a bagel mid morning and only ate half of it! Then at lunch, I ate my tuna pasta salad and didn't have the yoghurt or other snacks I'd usually have alongside a packed lunch.

I wasn't hungry for tea, but I ate it all.
Then I've enjoyed a slice of banana bread this evening!

I feel like it's been so easy and I've barely thought about food at all. I never really understood what people meant about food "noise". I think maybe now I do?!! Or maybe I'm just getting ahead of myself and it's all in my head / placebo 😂

Did you go for it? You could always do it before bed like I did. It sounds like side effects on this thread seem to be very minimal. Maybe its more apparent in higher doses?

It sounds like you have a good plan! I have similarly planned out the changes I will make, as I need to make this a life change, not just a "diet".
I went for a 10 min walk before work this morning. It was all I could fit in. I think every little helps!

Well, I did it this morning. Reading everyone's comments I just thought I might as well. I sat there for 10 minutes waiting for something to happen (no idea what I was expecting!) and now I'm getting on with work!! Will hit the gym tonight.

I hope everyone is feeling okay today 🙂

InstantRegret · 03/02/2026 13:07

Thanks @Crossfitgirl I have noticed some appetite suppression today which is strange as I’m due my next dose soon. Took a while to kick in for me!

@ELB73 well done for taking the first step 👏 I was so nervous but relieved once it was done!
I sat there waiting for something to happen too 😆 Nothing did 🤣
