February 2026 starters

Crossfitgirl · 30/01/2026 12:00

Hi all, I have my first pen on the way and as far as I can see there is no starter thread for Feb, so I hope it's ok to make one.
All welcome whether recently started or looking to start this month - I think by the time mine arrives it will probably be February!
Hoping for support, experiences, recommendations, more support and the rest!

I am nearly 40, 2 young kids and full time job, starting on wegovy, with the goal of lowering my cholesterol (and reducing my huge belly).

P.S. I'm staying in Whitby at the moment and just had a small fish and chips out. Currently sitting back at the Airbnb with stomach cramps. I won't be doing that again in a hurry...

Trial and error! 😆

Ah, but Whitby F&C are in a class of their own!

Stickytoffeetartt · 20/03/2026 18:24

I'm feeling really ill. Day 3. Vomiting at night, last night started at 9pm and I was sick again at 1am , 5am & 7am
I think ill be giving up, I hate how I feel
I'm exhausted too. I've signed up to a 6 month plan so ill need to wriggle out of it somehow. No way can I keep this up while working and looking after dc & house etc 😔

RedApplePie · 20/03/2026 18:42

I’m sorry you are feeling so grim. Are you sure it’s the jab and not a bug? If it’s the jab, there’s a couple of things you can get to help, either over the counter or on prescription. Meanwhile I’d concentrate on fluids and electrolytes till it passes. I’ve never been sick with it or even felt more than fleetingly nauseous. It’s a different exit issue for me 💩. Hope you feel better soon.

Cookiedough123 · 20/03/2026 20:45

My delivery finally came today and I’ve had my first 5mg jab. Nervous about getting side effects I’ve weirdly had a dodgy stomach today but it’s been a week since I last jabbed and I only jabbed at 6pm so it isn’t the MJ! I usually go to parkrun on a Saturday morning which is still the plan as long as I feel ok 🤞🤞

TheEgg2 · 21/03/2026 09:15

@Stickytoffeetarttsp sorry to hear you’re feeling poorly. I’ve also had really bad side effects for the last 6 weeks.
However, this week I made some changes and I’ve not felt half as bad. I jabbed in my thigh (on the opposite side to my HRT patch), ate something every 3-4 hours, ate breakfast before 11 (usually skip it), used OTC meds for nausea and had 2.5-3 litres of water a day, however, the biggest difference was leaving 8-9 days between my 2.5 mg jabs. Game-changer for me. Still feel rough but can work and cope cooking for family and my usual exercise.

TheEgg2 · 21/03/2026 10:37

Morning all, loving the Spring ☀️!
I’m deliberating going up to 5 mg pen after 2 months on 2.5mg as a seemingly super-responder with all the sids effects! My motivation is financial. I’ll just use it to take 2.5mg and count the clicks so will be going over the 30 days usage. It’s also a backup if suppression wears off as it is doing so a bit already and I’ll then go up VERY slowly to say 3mg per week…..what do people think?

Cookiedough123 · 21/03/2026 10:47

Morning! Sunshine ☀️ here also! I’ve been to parkrun this morning which was lovely and bright for a change! Did my jab at 6pm ish and Im not hungry at all! I weighed this morning and I am 13st 12.2. So I’m 16.6lbs down in total. My target weight is 12st but I was 10st in my early 20s so it is possible although unlikely I will carry on to that point.

@TheEgg2 i know what you mean about the cost! Can you keep it in the fridge when you have opened it? I’m sure I’ve read it lasts ages when opened in the fridge but only 30 days when it’s been opened and kept at room temperature. Glad you have found way to deal with your symptoms. I have been lucky and haven’t really had any which is why I jumped straight from 2.5 to 5 but defo would of counted clicks if I had any side effects.

Notellinganyone · 21/03/2026 14:20

@TheEgg2 - I’ve just taken my 6th 2.5 mg dose yesterday and for the first time it’s had no real impact. However, I have also lost very little the last couple of weeks so I’m torn as to whether to go up next pen.

RedApplePie · 21/03/2026 14:36

I took my 8th jab of 2.5 today - a day late but yesterday I was seriously thinking of stopping. Not because it was making me ill, but more because it was all messing with my head a bit. Anyway, given my head a wobble and DTD this morning. Had a good workout at the gym and DH had made a vat of soup while I was out so I’ve had some of that. Need to start thinking about whether or not to go up next week. Last month pharmacist really made the decision for me and said I shouldn’t increase but I suspect they’d be guided by me this time.

Egg2, if I could keep it in the fridge I’d be tempted to go up to have additional flexibility. I guess if you are also spreading doses out it will be open for a fair while though, although lots of people seem to do that with no issues.

Well after 4 weeks of 0 side effects on 2.5mg I started 5mg last night. Woke early hours of the morning with a wave of nausea and was then sick, have spent all day feeling nauseous and just not quite right. Not been able to eat a thing all day. It is making me not want to take the next 5mg jab but i’m not sure wether this is a side effect, or just bad timing and i’m just not well. Guess time will tell… hopefully pick up over the weekend!

anyone else who has had nausea, able to say when it settled? Have taken pepto bismol and paracetamol but not made a difference

Are you on MJ or wegovy?I've had a little nausea but it's settled fairly quickly with mints / rennies. My side effects have come on a couple of days after jabbing though.

I increased to about 3 or 4mg of Wegovy last week, and my stomach has been absolutely awful for a few days. I haven't eaten a single meal without having stomach cramps and diarrhea.

So today, I have been super careful. I wasn't hungry for breakfast, so I didn't eat. I've kept meals very small and stuck to "safe" foods - a tiny ham and egg salad for lunch, and a chicken wrap for tea. Nothing spicy or fatty. I've stopped before I've felt full. I've been miles better! And haven't felt hungry. It's day 7 today, so the medication could just be wearing off, but I do think it's how I've eaten today that's affected it - and I've also drunk loads more water!

I'm supposed to be doing jab 8 tonight but I'm going to delay it by a day. My next dose up is 0.5, but honestly I'm just going to get the 0.5 pen and maybe still do 0.3 from it. I'm terrified of going up further after this week! Need to try find somewhere I can hide it in the fridge!!

I'm also going to move from Voy after this one, I think. My next pen will be £160! (First one was only £80). Does anyone know if I'll have to resubmit photos etc to a new provider, or will I just need to send a pic of my medication packet with my details on it from previous jab? Ideally I'd like to be able to order it, choose a delivery date and collect it!

I am doing the same. Staying on 2.5mg MJ for now though i am on the 5mg pen which i got with a discount code. And have ordered my next 7.5mg pen with a new provider with a £50 discount. It works out mucher cheaper per dose.
I am happy to stockpile as the expry dates are in 2027 and these pens have the 'golden doses' which subsequent pens may not. It also gives me the flexibility to increase from 2.5mg if it stops being effective.
Just planning ahead.

Rosetime · 22/03/2026 00:28

@Crossfitgirl , you can get your 0.5mg pen for less than half of £160 with other providers as a first time customer. Pillsorted has it at £64!
I think they all require pictures (at a minimum), proof of previous prescription, a questionnaire asking starting weight, current weight, what side effects you are having plus all the regular questions you were asked as a first time customer. Requirements vary between providers.

Bloody hell! Ok well depending how much longer I stay on it for, I'll probably switch. I was hoping to be done with it by 3 months, but I'm not sure now.

I also don't know if we're meant to "titrate" back down after going up? So will I need to go back to a lower dose before stopping?

The other reason I liked Voy was for the fact they don't tell your GP (they advise you to do this yourself instead). I wonder if any other providers give you the choice, as I know lots will automatically notify them. Although I'm not sure it's that important to me now. It's mainly as I haven't told DH tbh.

Rosetime · 22/03/2026 05:06

Yeah, some providers do not inform your GP.
From various discussion forums, I observed a lot of people titrate down to get a maintenance dose and others titrate down before stopping, so it isn’t a sudden change. And others just stop without titrating downwards. Seems there is no one standard way to stop.

Thank you, Im feeling much better since yesterday. I thought it may have been a bug but it was three nights of vomiting so I'm not sure if it was a bug or symptoms from Wegovy. I'm a bit reluctant to take it again on Wedns but I suppose it'll give more of an insight 😬

RedApplePie · 22/03/2026 12:55

Feeling a lot more focused and settled today after my angst last week. I got myself into such a stew about ‘needing’ this medication rather than being able to diy it. Anyway, had a bit of a wardrobe sort out this morning and most of my size 14 jeans are fitting reasonably comfortably. So they’ve all come out of storage and are now on my ‘currently fits’ shelf. Interestingly, the last time I lost a lot of weight I was still a size 18 at my current weight. It’s not vanity sizing as all these clothes were bought around the same time. The only difference is that I’ve been weight training for the last few years. So I’m realising I maybe don’t have to lose as much as I thought. Although I’ve fluctuated a few stones here and there, the last time I lost a lot, I went from 17 + stone to 10.7 and assumed that’s where I’d need to get to again. I started MJ 7 weeks ago at 14.6 and I’m now 13.4. While I’d certainly like to be comfortably into the 11s it somehow doesn’t seem quite as daunting. I really need to make this work though, I cannot face weight cycling for ever.

Hiya all, I hope we've all had a good weeekend?
So I have had no pain at all for the past few days. Im now thinking I might switch to Wegovy, does anyone have any experience? Im worried it won't work for me though as mj was so strong making the switch might seem like im injecting water!

I'm on wegovy and up until week 6 I remained on the starting dose, and I'm not even sure I'll go up again. It's been effective for me so far. They work in different ways, I think both have slower stomach emptying which reduces appetite and helps you feel full, but mounjaro also does something else to reduce appetite on top.

So you might find wegovy has a lesser effect on your hunger levels than the MJ did - however I've found it to help me lose slow and steady with minimal side effects (until I increased the dose slightly!). I also don't want it to curb my appetite TOO much as I want to keep it off once I stop. There's a Facebook group for Wegovy support UK and I think there's lots of people on there that have changed over to wegovy from MJ for various reasons, you might get answers on there if you search. I do think as it's not as "strong" as MJ you may well find it feels "weaker" so to speak, but do a bit of digging and see if anyone else has experience x

7 weeks in I think I had my first real experience of early satiety tonight. I ate a third of my dinner and suddenly just felt that one more bite and I’d be sick. I HAVE been eating much smaller portions but I’ve felt to date that I was choosing to do that to avoid having side effects rather than the MJ making me do so. It’s weird that this has suddenly happened. Will be interesting to see if it happens again tomorrow. I’ve also had zero food noise today for the first time.

Rosetime · 22/03/2026 22:21

@RedApplePie , did you increase your dose? Or still on 2.5mg?
Also glad to read you are feeling better- less side effects.

RedApplePie · 22/03/2026 22:23

Still on 2.5mg. I had been almost convinced to increase it on Thursday next week, now not so sure.

Rosetime · 23/03/2026 07:35

Hopefully the 2.5mg continues to work well in term of satiety and appetite suppression for you. And you have less side effects.

Some weeks i am doing 9 days between the jabs but last week i did 7 days.
I want to lose weight slowly. I have 3 stone plus to loose.

That's great! I think as you eat smaller portions regularly, your stomach does shrink back a bit so you can eat less. Hope the food noise reduction continues!

I've eaten much smaller portions yesterday and stopped before getting full, and I've felt MUCH better. First day all week no diarrhoea!! I delayed my jab by a day too as I was still feeling a bit delicate, so had it last night. Fingers crossed I don't get the shits while I'm doing my client visits!!

Pleased to hear satiety has finally hit @Crossfitgirl. It’s amazing, isn’t it?
