February 2026 starters

Crossfitgirl · 30/01/2026 12:00

Hi all, I have my first pen on the way and as far as I can see there is no starter thread for Feb, so I hope it's ok to make one.
All welcome whether recently started or looking to start this month - I think by the time mine arrives it will probably be February!
Hoping for support, experiences, recommendations, more support and the rest!

I am nearly 40, 2 young kids and full time job, starting on wegovy, with the goal of lowering my cholesterol (and reducing my huge belly).

I have my first in-person review today and still undecided about going up or not. I definitely don’t feel I need to go up YET but a month feels a long time to commit to the lower dose. I shall see what the pharmacist advises but I think I will probably stay on 2.5 for now. My muscle mass is drifting upwards which I’m delighted about so I guess that means that any weight I’ve lost is actually fat rather than muscle. I’ve worked really hard on that element the last month, I’m lifting heavy 4 times a week. I’m struggling to get enough protein from food though, so that’s a challenge as I really don’t want to be knocking back UPFs. I’m also struggling a bit with fibre - I’m eating less in the way of beans and pulses in order to get the higher protein foods in, but the consequence is that my fibre is tanking. So I need to get that sorted.

@RedApplePie well done I’m hoping to keep my muscle mass too spent a few years building this up and struggling with protein too if I don’t want to have upfs. Have tried to move away from protein yogs but the Greek yog just isn’t anywhere near the same protein levels.

I took my first dose yesterday evening. When did you feel the food suppression? I was still a bit hungry today.

I felt no effect whatsoever until day 4! It feels like doing the 5:2 diet for me - 2 days (4&5) with minimal appetite, but otherwise wanting to eat very normally

Good luck with your review, I have not had huge losses but I have decided to stay on 2.5 for my next one.
How is the suppression for you?
If it wears off towards the end of the week, is that manageable for you?
How are your side effects?
I was getting decent suppression, then eating more normally with a bit of hunger and able to eat larger portions the 2 days or so before the next jab. I felt like the hunger returning is good practice for when I come off, to still have some hunger and to be able to use will power.
I also couldn't risk more side effects as I'm currently solo parenting and I travel a lot in the car for my job, so staying seems a logical option for now. If I worked from home, I may have tried going up a dose.
If progress slows, I can go up and I'm not fussed about it taking longer as for I believe it will help the loss be sustainable.
Let us know what you decide to do!

Lost the grand total of 0.3kg this week (second week on WG) and keeping to calories and exercising. Hope for better next week

WhoInvitedHer · 26/02/2026 11:03

Got to decide whether to go up a dose on my next order which I plan to do tomorrow when I inject my third dose so looking for advice. On the lowest dose of WG and delayed starting so don’t want to order any later that tomorrow as that will be almost 8 weeks from initially ordering and was only just over the BMI when I started so slightly below now so don’t want to risk being treated like a new customer. Suppression is okay, wears off but enough for me to manage with a bit of will power. However I think I have had slightly less suppression this week so worried that if I don’t go up a dose I will struggle with 8 weeks in total at the lowest dose but don’t want to go up unnecessarily. Lost 1.9kg first week and only 0.3kg this week, eating and exercising similarly both weeks.

All done. I was 10lbs down while clothed on the official scales with muscle mass up two pounds (I know body comp scales aren’t super reliable but that’s the same increase as my pt scales had so I think it probably IS improving). She very actively encouraged me to stay on 2.5 and said around half their patients never go above that and that they encouraged people not to chase suppression but to let the drug sit in the background doing its thing while I focused on diet and exercise. I felt very reassured actually. She also pointed out how Shotsy showed an increasing level as the weeks went on and how that upward trend did continue even without increasing dose. Overall I feel I made the right decision for me. I’m hungry for meals but no snacking urge in between, I’ve minimal and decreasing side effects and I’m able to eat enough to fuel exercise which is important to me. I can have a dietician consult as part of the package so she’s booked me in for that to help me sort of the protein/fibre conundrum I’ve got myself into.

It's not just you, but yours was the most recent to quote.

If you only weighed every month you'd be really happy every time. You don't need to see your weight every day/week to know that good things are happening. It really does work, it's a wonder drug, the 'pill' that everyone has always wanted to allow you to lose weight more easily. Don't over think it, eat the protein, drink the water, and you're doing great.

Rosetime · 26/02/2026 15:01

Great to hear everyone's experience. Sounds like we are all having similar experiences. I had less suppression on days 5,6&7 of the dose. But i have only had one dose.
My 2nd dose is today.

I have been thinking about going up to the next dose for my next order but I like what @RedApplePie 's PT said about letting WLI be there in the background supporting so it's easier to successfully focus on diet and exercise. It sounds smart.

I find myself using will power the last few days and I realised that should I come off WLIs, willpower and consistency in lifestyle change would be essential. Not having total suppression allows for good practice of that.

I will keep that in mind and see how it goes with injections 2 & 3 before I order the next one.

Notellinganyone · 26/02/2026 16:01

So I’m about to take my third jab tonight. Have had totally normal apple since Monday so will be interested to see if the suppression kicks back in. I have ordered another 2.5 pen as can’t afford side effects during term time but am a bit torn. Am considering double jabbing the final dose - anyone done that? Otherwise I’ll have to wait until two weeks into the Easter holidays and then ordering a 5mg pen a bit early. Not a very financially sensible way of doing it. So essentially two more doses of my current pen. Then two single doses and double up on the last one. I haven’t lost anything at all in week 2.

princesspeppax · 27/02/2026 09:11

Offical day for weigh in. Week 1 2.5mg completed- no side effects to note felt suppression for the first 4-5 days but definitely feeling it wear off as jab comes round.

3lb loss, was hoping for more as i’ve been so strict with calories keeping less than 100. I weighed early and was same as starting weight a few days ago so these 3lb must have came off in the last 48 hours if thats even possible 🥳 hope everyone else is doing OK!

AnotherChangeDay · 27/02/2026 09:17

Weigh day yesterday - have been on and off MJ since Dec 2024 and lost 4 stone, put 1 of it back on so started again on 2.5 18th Feb.

Lost 5lbs so very happy with that. No terrible side effects.

I tried Wegovy last year and was very sick so only did 2 doses and couldnt stomach doing it again!

TheEgg2 · 27/02/2026 09:27

Coming to the end of Week 3 for me and I’m 9lbs down that I’m delighted with. I’ve decided to stay on 2.5 mg and swapped providers as Boots have been rubbish so now with ASDA as they price matched well. I’m choosing to stay in 2.5 mg as side effects have been extensive - I’ve had brain fog, insomnia, hot flushes, felt freezing, nausea, constipation, headaches, fallen asleep during the day, light-headedness, head spins, you name it. I had terrible pregnancies health-wise(but final great result so no complaints here) and in pretty rotten menopause for last 8 years so think my body is just not good at tolerance. I’m resolved to stick on v low dose as it’s affecting my work and home life but need to lose the weight as v high BP, cholesterol and I’ll admit, I’m more vain than I thought 🙄so I’ve reconciled myself to a slow “journey” of 4 stone loss to get me into “normal” BMI range. Anyone else in the same boat? I think @Crossfitgirl has decided to stay low?

wlinewbie26 · 27/02/2026 09:47

Well done with the weight losses! I’m coming to the end of week 3 and I’m really happy with weight loss so far / suppression. I’ve struggled since my early 20s and this has been so much easier to remain in a coleus deficit.

I’ve lost 4.9kg in almost 3 weeks. I’m eating 1500cals a day which is approx 2-300 under my TDEE. It’s tricky packing the protein in but I’m managing ok.

@princesspeppaxi just wanted to check that the calories you mention are a typo! 🤪 I found I felt a little faint if I didn’t eat enough when I first started on MJ!

RedApplePie · 27/02/2026 10:16

@TheEgg2 Im staying low on MJ. I go to an in-person pharmacy with a weight loss clinic and they are actively encouraging me to stay low. They said about half of their clients do the whole thing on 2.5 and very few go above 5mg. I’d rather do slow and steady tbh. Reduces chance of gallstones and hopefully more sustainable. I also work out a lot and want to be able to fuel my workouts. I lost 10lb the first month. That leaves me with 2stone 4 lb to a ‘normal’ BMI and 3 stone 2 lb to where I want to be.

Hi everyone! Is anyone taking collagen for skin tightening? Which one do you recommend?

Sameoldsameold78 · 27/02/2026 10:40

Can I join please, took my first jab on Tuesday. Will read through this thread properly.

I’ve been using the nurtrion geeks one for two months now. Don’t know if it’s actually doing anything but I like it as it dissolves completely in coffee with no taste at all. Very fast reliable free delivery too.

chillicheeseandchocolate · 27/02/2026 11:55

5th jab done, I used the golden dose this morning. Annoyingly have plateaued again on the scales but 11lb down overall so can’t complain.
Agree with @RedApplePienutrition geeks is great for dissolvable collagen.
Hope everyone is getting on ok.

Nocameltoeleggingsplease · 27/02/2026 13:52

Hi, started MJ on Monday.
Very tired!!!
I’m doing it so I can diet successfully; I have no luck going it alone. I want to teach myself what i need to eat rather than what i want to eat.
I was trying to describe the feeling around food I’m having to someone. I do feel hungry; but it’s like my brain doesn’t know what the feeling is so then I’m not obsessing about eating?

Same. Doesn’t taste of anything

Yorkshireteaalwayswins · 27/02/2026 14:18

Well done everyone with your losses, it's always encouraging to hear.
I took my second MJ jab on Wednesday morning and weighed myself this morning (the scales only arrived yesterday). Ive lost 5lbs which I'm really pleased with but I know it wont be the same every week so I'm trying not to get too excited. Ive mostly felt a little bloated and nauseous over the week but tried to eat three proper meals even when I don't feel like it. My husband has said that I've been grouchy so I'm trying to be more aware of that!
I also recommend the Nutrition Geeks collagen. Ive used it for a while and my skin and nails are far better than they were.

@RedApplePieoh thanks for the insight from your group, yes, seems to make perfect sense to me. I’ve stopped my exercising but today did manage about 3/4 of my normal swimming lengths so I think I’ll just try and exercise on Days 5 and 7 as that’s when I feel more awake!
