February 2026 starters

Crossfitgirl · 30/01/2026 12:00

Hi all, I have my first pen on the way and as far as I can see there is no starter thread for Feb, so I hope it's ok to make one.
All welcome whether recently started or looking to start this month - I think by the time mine arrives it will probably be February!
Hoping for support, experiences, recommendations, more support and the rest!

I am nearly 40, 2 young kids and full time job, starting on wegovy, with the goal of lowering my cholesterol (and reducing my huge belly).

For those worried about the jab hurting - my tip (after a LOT of clexane injections through
my pregnancies) is to breathe out hard and wiggle your toes during it.

hope everyone is feeling ok. I went out for dinner today and ordered a battered fish burger and it was nice but all I could manage was 3/4 of the fish, a bit of the bottom half of the bun, a bit of coleslaw, and 1 chunky chip (gave the rest of my chips to my children). I then ate a few berries that the children left on their puddings as I felt drawn to them. I feel like a different person, like my appetite has been completely rewritten.

I also, after some months of irregular periods (I am 50) started my period exactly bang on my usual cycle dates.

@Crossfitgirl thank you, really useful.

Do people find they get increased motivation to exercise as a psychological effect of WLI? Because I used to be so active and I barely even recognise myself any more, all I want to do is sit on the sofa and watch comfort TV, I can barely even muster up the mental energy to go for a walk these days (the endless rain doesn't help I guess!)

Hi, hoping I can join. My first MJorder is on it's way! Excited but very nervous. Any tips welcomed eg what's the best day/time of day to jab? Anything I can do to prepare my body for the first one other than hydrating? I'm slightly worried as I'm also on Sertraline which tends to make me feel a little lightheaded if I'm tired so I'm worried MJ will really exacerbate this.

Hi, you're my twin! I did my first MJ jab yesterday morning. I too am on Sertraline so I'm monitoring that but research says there's no interaction so it should be fine. I did my jab in the morning an hour after a protein shake (someone on Reddit said their doctor had recommended this) and I'm feeling bloated and vaguely sick but not too bad today. I'm focussing on my water intake as I'm dreadful at remembering to drink. Good luck!

Wow you must be my twin as I too am awful at remembering to drink (unless it's coffee lol).

OK my MJ arrived this morning but I'm getting cold feet now! I have a friend's birthday thing on Saturday which involves alcohol and am holding my first ever work meeting next week so I'm worried I'll be inundated with side effects and unable to enjoy or work properly. Should I just bite the bullet and do it without overthinking...

I was really nervous too. I read the instructions over and over again but then bit the bullet. I cant speak to how the side effects will occur for you as I'm only 24 hours ahead of you but i just wanted to get started and get the first few days over with. I'm not sure how alcohol affects the body whilst on MJ. Can anyone advise? I am also out with friends on Saturday so I'm planning on cutting down the drinking but its not a special event so it's not as big of a deal. I can understand you wanting to celebrate. Have you told your friend that you're doing this?

Notellinganyone · 19/02/2026 10:28

I would honestly be very careful for first few days. I didn’t drink or eat anything I shouldn’t but still had grim side effects about three days in. Spent a day in bed on day 4 after a terrible night. You might, of course be fine, but I’d avoid alcohol at this early stage.

Is anybody planning on changing from Mounjaro to Wegovy? I’m doing it for financial reasons. My side effects with MJ have been feeling sick, faint and absolutely freezing cold that has affected my sleep quite badly. Suppression has been good and looks like I’m on track to lose 6lbs in first two weeks. Also changing from Boots to Asda as haven’t had my advantage points and App doesn’t work. Any thoughts from Wegovy users?

Haven't taken my before but just ordered Wegovy for the same (financial) reason. Hoping it is effective.

InstantRegret · 19/02/2026 12:11

Week 3 complete for me and I’ve stayed the same 😕

Week 1 = -2.5lb
Week 2 = -3.5lb
Week 3 = STS

Jab 4 of 2.5mg done about an hour ago. Was undecided about moving up to 5mg pen but I think that’s been answered for me now.
Also laughing at myself for worrying that people would know I was using the jab because of the rapid weight loss 😆 At -6lb in 3 weeks I think my secret is safe for now 🤭

Stickytoffeetartt · 19/02/2026 12:55

Hehe instantregret, I thought the same when I was taking w.l pills
thought Id have to explain myself to everyone, thinking up stories 🤣 But they did absolutely zero for me 😆
I hope you start seeing the results soon 🙏

InstantRegret · 19/02/2026 13:02

Thank you @Stickytoffeetartt😆 Here’s me thinking I’d be sauntering around at 2st lighter by now 😉

Cookiedough123 · 19/02/2026 13:14

Hey day 3 for me today. Technically only 48 hours post jab tho. I felt full and bloated with indigestion yesterday but haven’t had that today. Have the random bits of tummy pain but it hasn’t lead to anything! I am eating better and not choosing to eat crap like I usually do, it’s definitely doing something but I am having to choose not to eat rubbish although it feels easier than usual. I weigh everyday and I was down 0.4lb this morning. I have running club tonight so hoping I have a bit more energy then I do now.

Does anyone mind sharing what they paid for their first jab? Mine was £148 from Asda.

This made me laugh! I’m the same thinking of what to say to judgy people 🤣 don’t think I’ll be wasting away anytime soon 2lb in 4 days! 6lbs is a great loss

InstantRegret · 19/02/2026 15:44

You’re off to a good start @Pinkchilli 🙌🏻

soupmaker · 19/02/2026 17:50

Second jab this morning. Jumped on the scales. Down 6lbs since the start of Feb. Very happy with that although I’m sure it’ll slow down now. Am feeling fine, just full.

Bought some dates today as I love them and don’t want to cut out all treats. Would normally eat at least 8 in one sitting, only had 2 and felt that was enough. Amazed myself.

Crossfitgirl · 19/02/2026 21:08

I've been weighing daily up to now, but haven't been able to this week since Monday due to being away. I'll be interested to see if the scales have shifted any more when we come home tomorrow. I suspect possibly not - it's been very hard to eat healthily as we've mostly eaten out, but I have made a conscious effort to try and order the lowest calorie things on the menu, and I got a salad from the coffee shop earlier!
I did have a cheat evening tonight and had lasagne with a pudding - but I've done so much swimming and walking hopefully it'll all even out.
I think I'll be happy with a maintain, even if I don't lose - as this week has been a very active week so I'm pleased with that as progress even if the food front hasn't been as spot on.

I managed a long workout session at the gym yesterday too, kid free so I was very pleased with that!

Coming to the end of week 3, so I will need to decide on whether to go up a dose after my last pen. Still undecided, but definitely leaning towards staying on the starting dose (2.5 wegovy) as I feel like my appetite has been suppressed enough without losing ridiculous amounts, sweet cravings have pretty much stopped, and I've still been able to eat enough to not get DH suspicious!

I paid £84 for my first wegovy pen with Voy, but it goes up next time, definitely over £100 but can't remember exactly how much.

Have you decided to step up to 5mg then? Has your appetite still been suppressed this week, or has it started to come back?
6lbs isn't bad - I think mine will likely be around that when I weigh in again on Saturday. Slow and steady may also be more sustainable, and less likely to lose muscle mass. But if it's bigger losses you're after more quickly then I guess stepping up also makes sense! X

Cookiedough123 · 19/02/2026 21:15

Well done @soupmaker on your loss, 6lb is brilliant! Love how dates are your treat! Mine is cake and chocolate. I have a milky bar that’s been sitting in the fridge since yesterday which I can’t believe I haven’t eaten yet.

@Crossfitgirl hope you get a loss 🤞I’m also keeping it quiet from DP in fact I’ve not told anyone! My pen is currently hiding in my car under a seat. 😂

Ive had an ok day. Food obsession has definitely gone. I made tea but my diced beef was really chewy so I only ate the noodles. Also had a 5k run which felt slightly easier than Tuesday because I haven’t eaten rubbish for 48 hours

RedApplePie · 19/02/2026 21:22

Jab 4 done. A situation I did not imagine three weeks ago. I appear to have lost 12 lbs and have my review and re-prescribing appt next Thursday. This last week has been painless, no side effects at all except a bit of an urgent visit to the toilet every morning, but it’s one bout of loose stools a day and nothing else. Haven’t decided about dosing yet and don’t have to decide till I see the pharmacist. I really like not feeling ill (and in fact feel both physically and psychologically better than I have in a long time), but another month feels like quite a long time to commit to the lower dose. Doing lots of weight training and while I know body composition scales aren’t really to be trusted they say I’ve maintained my muscle mass (and in fact increased it by nearly 2 pounds since my start date) and it’s my fat numbers that have gone down.

I’m on wk2 day 2 … and I weigh more now than at the end of wk1.

I haven’t eaten badly and I’ve been tracking my food intake to ensure I’m eating enough protein and calories.

I know it’s likely to be water or something else like this but it’s so frustrating - has anyone else experienced this?

A plus point is that this is where I would usually flounder and fall back into bad habits but as I'm not hungry and have no food noise I’m just carrying on. Hopefully, the scales will move soon (I appreciate it isn’t all about the scales but a downward scale does make me feel like it’s all worth it)!

I'm at the end of week 2, and have lost absolutely nothing so far! No affect on my appetite whatsover, in fact I've probably been hungrier than usual during the past few days.I have not been thirsty at all though, so have really had to force myselt to drink. In terms of side effects, I've been constipated, which is making me tired and sluggish. Am going to stick with it and hope things change but I'm disappointed considering all the great stories here. Was hoping the food noise would lessen but I know I'm not making great choices either. I need to change my mindset too.🙁

Housenoob · 19/02/2026 23:12

I just bit the bullet and did my first dose. Hoping I won't wake up feeling too awful.

@Crossfitgirl I’m 70/30 in favour of stepping up to 5mg at the moment. My plan was to stay on 2.5mg for as long as possible but I have noticed the snacking creeping in a bit, nowhere near as bad as before MJ but a little bit here, a little bit there. That could be because I’m not eating proper meals though apart from dinner. I need to get a solid meal plan in place.
The 2nd week was the strongest suppression for me so far but suppression should start building again for me tomorrow from this jab.
I also don’t do much exercise which definitely isn’t helping!

I can gain about 4lbs on the scales when constipated so dont lose hope. You may have lost fat.

I talked to my siblings and a friend about it before I went for it. In hindsight, maybe shouldn't have told friend (& maybe one sister). Friend has strongly decided I don't need it, it is not the right time, it would not work for me etc.

My pen arrived yesterday morning.
I stared at it for abit... okay, for a few hours. For 9 hours. It suddenly felt like a huge decision and 'like i had not done enough homework'.

I got brave eventually and did the first dose. I was mid cooking dinner when i suddenly got the pen, put on the needle and did the 1st dose. It didn't hurt. Went back to cooking and promptly forgot about it. I was reminded this morning, injection site is feeling a bit sore.

I now need to get more active. How is everyone doing with self motivation? Are you finding it easy to be more active - walking, running, workout? Is anyone struggling with motivation or time and still losing weight?

Feeling a bit headachy this morning.
