Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 12!

MooBaggage · 29/01/2026 15:40

A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

Another 0.5lb off here, so my BMI has moved to 26.8 and my Eufy smart scales are telling me that my body fat % and body fat mass are both now 'standard' (just!)!!! 😮Bonkers, as I was basically made of fat not so long ago.

I am a complete numpty though - just going back to the basics of small portions, more water, fewer carbs has done the trick - and adding in yoga and weights every day is already firming my stomach and legs up. It's not rocket science, is it, but I'd kind of forgotten over the past couple of months and have been grumpy things had stalled 🙄🤦‍♀️

So, must remember that the basics count and the strength stuff is important! I feel back in control and a bit embarrassed that the stats matter so much to me - but they do and are a great motivator when I see more 'green' on the Eufy scales, so will keep working on it 😊💪💪💪

That's an excellent first three months' loss @StatisticalStitches ! I hadn't realised there have been issues with Mumsnet and Chrome but I mostly use duckduckgo for here because the ads make me murderous otherwise.

So pleased you've got your mojo back @MooBaggage

I didn't think there was anything left I hadn't measured 😁 but having done my wrist I am bang on 6.5in (at 5ft 8). I've had to take a couple of links out of my metal watch band so I don't know what it was before. I'm aware I'm above average frame: my shoulders are broad and even when I was skinny in my early 20s I was never ever a size ten. My BMI is around 23 now and that's fine.

On the topic of circumferences I'm now having to wear my wedding & engagement rings on my middle finger. Infuriatingly I spent £££ getting them resized only a few months before starting MJ. I've tried those curly plastic things but they're not enough. I guess this is the real litmus test of my confidence in myself to maintain : at what point will I dare spend more £££ to get them resized back down??

AnneinEdinburgh · 14/05/2026 09:43

Well done all. @MooBaggage I need to do the same - back to good habits at the beginning that worked so well. Yes a lie in is lovely but aquafit is good if I make myself get up and get there. I will go back to no pudding and add in more water ..... I can't be stuck around 13 stone and on 15mg for ever, or I can if I don;t get a grip!

Onwards and downwards and Happy Thursday everyone
xx

I too have engagement ring that doesn’t fit after fortune spent on up sizing. I think down sizing is harder? What do the do with bit chopped out?
never got wedding ring resized as had engraving on it. May be able to wear it again soon. Have a cheap big replacement currently.

StatisticalStitches · 15/05/2026 02:35

Well I'd made it 13 weeks with very minimal side effects. The biggest issue to date being freezing cold. 10mg has floored me, TMI sorry, watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, exhausted :-( I had been so lucky till now. Any tips on how to manage it? I'm hoping it's a brief thing due to the dose increase.

Is toast and water ok till it eases? Or am I meant to stick to high protein & veg etc.

That sounds horrible, @StatisticalStitches - when did you move up to 10mg and are you sure it's that and not a stomach bug? I've found moving up to 12.5mg has had the opposite effect re: constipation.

I think drink lots of water - maybe try a protein drink too if you can? I'd eat whatever feels right to eat at the moment - whatever you can manage. Hopefully it'll settle soon xx

Oof, @StatisticalStitches that sounds rubbish. I'd echo @MooBaggage in being sure it's not noro or something.

I used immodium (well, own brand version) to calm diarrhoea, and a Dioralyte sachet for electrolytes. And tried to stay hydrated. But I only ever had it on a couple of one-off nights/mornings after moving up to 5 and no stomach cramps or feeling exhausted. I'd eat whatever feels best until it settles down, if that makes sense. For me it was eggs and chicken, so pretty much normal MJ eating.

@Reginaphalangeeeee you see I always reasoned that having rings resized down should be cheaper as they don't need to add extra precious metal, just make the ring wider/thicker. But I've learned it's just as pricey. 🧐

StatisticalStitches · 15/05/2026 08:24

Thanks @MooBaggage @GiveMeWordGames I injected 10mg on Wednesday evening, hopefully it's a virus that will ease up very soon. Sipping water right now, might give food a miss today and see if that settles it down. Very nauseous and still have the stomach cramps this morning.

Good to know it's ok to take immodium, as I really don't want to miss tomorrow. DH has been looking forward to our day out so if I need to dose up on immodium tomorrow I will.

I just got my rings resized. Wedding ring they were able to just squish it without removing metal. The engagement ring had some gold removed so they knocked £10 off the price to account for them keeping the metal.

It came to £166 for 3 rings to be resized, watch battery replaced and link removed.

QueenOfHiraeth · 15/05/2026 20:10

I have just been debating having my rings resized too. My biggest problem is that I am getting on a bit now so my knuckles are bigger than they were but my fingers are the only bit of me that is relatively slender so the challenge is finding a size I can get on and off but that doesn't spin around once there.
I've had my watch adjusted twice now but they always give me the links back so it can be put back if ever needed

Bunnyjo · 16/05/2026 13:38

Get well soon, @StatisticalStitches - it definitely sounds more like a stomach bug than anything MJ related.

Yay, @MooBaggage, so glad you have your mojo back. I do think it's the gym work that has given me this added whoosh - both from a numbers and NSV perspective - as I haven't changed anything else.

Interesting conversation re: hair loss. I am also seeing some hair thinning; I know it's related to the weight loss and I am convinced I am perimenopausal which isn't helping, even thought the GP keeps saying my bloods are fine, but it's reassuring to see that the effects are usually temporary.

Oh, and to my shame, I never sized up my rings. As such, I haven't worn mine for a number of years - now they fit me beautifully again!

Loss: 82.5lb
Current BMI: 23.6
Target Weight 1: 12st 1lb (overweight BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 2: 10st 1lb (healthy BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 3: 9st 5.5lb (6st loss)
Final Target: 8st 8lb - 9st 1lb (I think...)

Nearly 6st down now, my aim is to pass that by the end of this month. Then it's down to the final target, which I hope to hit by the end of July.

I had a pair of size 10 skinny jeans in my wardrobe that I bought years and years ago during one of my many other diets as motivation, and I have never fitted in them - until now! I mean they do have stretch, but I am still claiming it as a victory 😂

StatisticalStitches · 16/05/2026 18:43

Congrats @Bunnyjo so close to 6st but also your final target too!

I'm still in bed horizontal, hoping I'll turn a corner soon as I was doing so well diet wise and now I can't tolerate any food at all.

Questions1234 · 17/05/2026 12:53

Sharing here as I know you’ll get it… I’ve been on MJ since Jan 25 and have lost almost 9 stone. I’ve also discovered exercise in a big way (running, lifting, training for Hyrox) so my body has changed more than I could ever begin to imagine when I started. I bought some more pjs today and had to go down into an extra small. EXTRA small 🤯🤯😳😳. I’d only just got my head around being small, but never in a million years imaged I’d ever be in extra small. But the XS were comfy and didn’t fall down - my guiding principles on sizes (as they vary so much).

For me, the wins have mainly been about how amazing I feel now, but every so often I go - hell yes, I love the way Iook too..

QueenOfHiraeth · 17/05/2026 13:27

@StatisticalStitches Seems to be going on a long time for it to be the MJ if you injected on Wed although I'm no expert. Does it feel like a bug? Hopefully it will settle down soon.
My experience is that nausea is worse if I don't eat so treat it like morning sickness and keep nibbling!

I want to see if anyone has any thoughts here. I've mentioned that I haven't lost for ages, since about last October, life is very busy and stressful at the moment so I'm just bobbing up and down half a stone and I know I am not planning and eating as well as I did because of stress and lack of time and routine.

Years ago I did some work with NHS bariatric patients and, when they struggled, the team would often recommend a "reset", which was 3 days of shakes, sometimes with one light meal each day. Has anyone tried anything like this and did it help? I'm about a stone off goal weight, currently BMI 26-27 and on 12.5mg (recently reduced from 15mg to see if it shook anything up but it didn't)
I've tried to avoid anything faddy but I know my healthy eating is slipping and am starting to feel desperate as I don't want to slip back.
Would you give it a try or not? Any other thoughts please?

StatisticalStitches · 17/05/2026 22:11

@QueenOfHiraeth have you tried increasing your calories slightly? I found that helped when I had a week of maintaining. You may have already tried that, sorry. I'm still very new to this as I'm on week 13 of my MJ journey.

I think it was a bug, the g.p I spoke to on Friday said Noro is doing the rounds locally. I thought you had to have sickness with that but she said it can present differently. I'm glad to say today has been much better, managed a slice of toast this evening. Going to try chicken and rice tomorrow 🤞

QueenOfHiraeth · 17/05/2026 23:53

@StatisticalStitches Fingers crossed for swift improvement now. I seem to remember someone saying last winter that tummy bugs may last longer on MJ as the body's normal strategy of expelling it quick by D&V may be affected by slower gut transit. Maybe that's part of what you've had
Thanks for the suggestion but I suspect I am having too many calories already so don't want to increase further. I've just hit a rut. I know I need to go back to basics but am just wondering if a short sharp shock might shake me into it...

ShrankLastWinter · 18/05/2026 06:51

Queen, I think it’s worth trying, if only for simplicity and portion control. When I feel I’ve overindulged, I go back to just protein powder in my morning coffee and then Huel black shake for lunch for a day or two.

QueenOfHiraeth · 18/05/2026 09:16

@ShrankLastWinter Thank you, that was my thought but there's so much contradictory info out there I've got myself boggled!

peonym · 18/05/2026 09:34

Hi everyone ! I was on this thread back in the beginning, lost a lovely 5stone! Got pregnant with my third, managed to not do too much damage and now I’m out the other end of that (with a lovely baby boy) I’ve just restarted Mounjaro to get me back down to where I need to be (and then some). So lovely to see this thread still going as I do feel like I have a bit of a mountain to climb again! But I’m starting at a much healthier position this time around. Before I realised I was pregnant I had run my first ever 10k and had also been very into the peloton, so I’m keen to start back running and cycling again soon. For now, just catching up with everyone, so inspiring seeing the brilliant losses and even more so the not to brilliant losses some weeks but the plugging on and keeping going!

Welcome back peonym and congratulations on your baby.
i just tried again to change suppliers, and failed again. I use my married name for medical stuff, but my maiden name on photo id, which is a problem with the proof required by Pharmulous. And they wanted a video of me stepping on scales in front of a full length mirror. But mine is in a carpeted room. When I tried the scales consistently showed 54 kilos , even though I am 79. Not complaining, because I thought their requirements were sensible. I just can’t meet them.

QueenOfHiraeth · 18/05/2026 16:30

Have you tried SwiftDoctor @Zebracat? They have a Whatsapp thing you can chat to them on if you run into problems and are good on maintenance

MooBaggage · 18/05/2026 18:00

OMG I just made seed crackers and they're ace! I made sweet ones, adding syrup to the seeds and they're lovely - not massively sweet as I didn't go crazy with the syrup, but just enough to feel like a treat.

I'll do savoury ones next - wonder if I can add cheese...?!

Thanks @RobinEllacotStrike for the idea 😍

I am in awe of you doing this with a new baby, but so brilliant you've got all the good habits and experience to get back to - amazing 💪💪💪

@QueenOfHiraeth , I give up, I’ll just stick with the hugely expensive supplier I already have.

peonym · 18/05/2026 19:15

Thanks so much @MooBaggage!! I’m lucky he’s easy so far (!) so time to make some healthier choices. Those seed crackers sound great, have you a recipe? I’m trying to make some small manageable switches to non / low UPF, especially for the kids too.
