Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

Started to finally feel more human today, so I think I’m going to take my first dose of wegovy tomorrow!

Blimey, that’s me 100%

I jabbed last night and went straight to bed. Haven’t felt bad at all so far. I also want to lose 3 stone. I am not planning to tell my PT. We talked about mounjaro before and he wasn’t entirely positive, so I think I’ll just pretend I’m taking all his advice🤣.

mine raised an eyebrow but has other clients doing it and wasn’t surprised. He is going to rethink what we do so we can try to keep muscle 🤞. I am worried about losing muscle but to be honest the thought of feeling confident enough to wear something that would show muscle loss is so far off I can’t really get too worried about it! But protein protein protein I guess

Springflowers3 · 02/01/2026 21:37

I am also hoping that it helps to curb my wine intake as we have had a Thursday night creep into our weekends after having cut them out for a while.

Decided to start tomorrow evening as not back at work till Tuesday so spent the day finishing off the Christmas food. Have been reading everyone’s updates with a lot of interest

Sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate for the next week or two. See what day the pen arrives and how you feel then. No point in putting pressure only yourself. In the scheme of things two weeks is nothing. Wishing you and your husband all the best for the treatment.

Thank you, it was quite hard for me to follow through and purchase it as I have been looking for months, and I don’t want to chicken out starting it and finding excuses.

the last 6 years have been so focused on my husbands health and now that I have hit a BMI of 40, it’s really time to try and prioritise my own health as well.

evening everyone , I applied last night at 6pm , and approved this morning . Just taken my first dose of 2.5mg (I am doing dry Jan which will help) and just did a spin class at the gym . I need to lose 6-7 stone , so a lot of work to do .

I don’t do cardio with my PT, it’s all strength training, so I’m hoping that I can just maintain the muscle I’ve already begun building. Someone I know lost 4 stone by never going above a 5mg dose, and thinks that helped her to maintain muscle mass. I think I’d be really happy to do it a little slower and not have to worry about muscle loss.

I've just taken my first dose this evening too. I was surprised at how small the needle is and how I didn't feel anything.

I've got a referral code for MedExpress for £50 discount - if anyone wants to be "my friend" ping me a DM and I'll send it over.

@Spartaki know, I constantly thought I was doing it wrong . I don’t think I did !

hope you have a good day tomorrow xx

goldylock · 02/01/2026 23:00

First MJ dose in after dinner. Was a lot less complicated than I thought. I was so nervous, especially twisting the pen to get to 1. I was twisting and twisting and was panicking like "there's no " 1" on this feckin' pen!!!!" 🤣🤣🤣. Would've been quite the twist if there hadn't been (pardon the pun).

Wouldn't know I've taken anything bar injection site (abdomen, to right of belly button) is a little sore. It did not hurt injecting/did not feel the needle, but its a little tender post injection.

intentionals · 02/01/2026 23:45

Also just did the first jab. All prepped for my husband to do it then at the last second he said oh no no no best you do it yourself!! But I did and i didn’t feel it at all. It was also not too bad prepping it - just followed instructions. Have read so many threads about this trying to decide what to do and was a bit surreal to hear the “clicks” for myself!

now drinking a pint of water - let’s see what tomorrow brings!

blackandwhitefluffycat · 03/01/2026 08:39

I got my DH to do mine but it was ok actually. I was expecting it to be like the ones I had after my c sections.

I don’t drink alcohol so I’ve no idea how it works with that.

Still no side effects and I’m not feeling hungry this morning, so maybe it is kicking in.

BG2015 · 03/01/2026 08:40

Awful nights sleep ( not unusual for me really) but woke up feeling sick and needed to eat something. This feeling reminds me of when I first found out I was pregnant and you get that sticky, weird feeling but know you've got to eat something to make the sickness go away. Also got a very muzzy head again.

Makes you wonder how powerful this tiny amount of medication is. Hopefully it slowly gets your body used to it.

Sneaky weigh in ( not recording this though) shows a 2lb loss but I have drastically cut my food intake to 1500 cals and the reduced alcohol means a lot of it could be water.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

@BG2015 Sorry to hear you'd an awful sleep. There is nothing worse.

I woke this morning with a feeling that one of my tonsils is up/inflamed. Which isn't unusual in itself, but unusual in that I haven't had inflammation there in many, many years.

But other than that, I have never had this feeling of full in my life like when I woke this morning (first injection around 7pm last night). A new feeling.

If this is what it feels like to feel full, then I've never had the experience of feeling full 😭.

Ralphiesaurus · 03/01/2026 10:15

Reading everyone's posts with keen interest as I've not started yet because of my odd work pattern. Plan is to start on Wednesday. I'm currently fretting that my prescriber will expect me to order another pen too soon... it's ok to keep MJ in the fridge until the expiry date isn't it? The clock only really starts ticking when you open it to take the first dose, as I understand it.

Sorry to hear some of you are having side effects. I hope they are manageable.

BG2015 · 03/01/2026 10:30

@RalphiesaurusI've pushed my second delivery back a week, as it arrived Christmas Eve and I didn't start until a week later.

Side effects are totally manageable- burps, slight reflux ( I get this anyway ) and a muzzy head. If this is the worst it gets I can cope.

Its if I get the toilet issues that worries me.

cravingmilkshake · 03/01/2026 10:31

Yes , the feeling is so strange . I woke up at 7 and haven’t felt the need to eat atall. I’ve had two glasses of water and two cups of tea. Not hungry at all. Took first jab last night and slept well.

Will see how today goes !

HannahBoyle · 03/01/2026 10:34

I wasn’t hungry at all this morning, but at 10am had 200 grams of Greek yoghurt, 20 grams of granola and 70 grams of blueberries.

Id usually have tea and toast with weetabix or porridge so this is a much smaller breakfast. I feel satisfied anyway. Had three tall glasses of water in the last 2 hours also.

Had some alcohol last night while watching Runaway on Netflix, but it wasn’t very appealing, so wonder will that be the norm.

Blandpedant · 03/01/2026 10:56

Just did my first injection! It was easy and pain free even for a needle phobic. I watched the instructions a million times and did the injection fine, but then managed to stab myself in the finger by trying to put the needle into the sharps bin upside down 😂 it’s always the expected bits that get you…

Now I’m trying not to be too hyper vigilant for side effects. I noticed I was freezing cold and anxious in the last couple of days even before taking anything, so trying not to attribute everything to the jab. Fingers crossed and good luck to us all!

BG2015 · 03/01/2026 11:19

@Blandpedant🙈 I did the exact same thing with the needle - jabbed my finger!

2026istheyear · 03/01/2026 11:32

Hello all - joining the January starters. Did my first jab last night and woke up not feeling hungry. Just did a Peleton class and still not hungry which is a very strange feeling! Stomach fine so far - I don’t have a gall bladder and have a bile duct made from my bowel so my digestion often plays up but was fine this morning. Fingers crossed that continues!

intentionals · 03/01/2026 11:41

Morning! I don’t feel hungry and it’s been say 11 hours or so since I had the first jab - but full disclosure I had a large macdonalds last night around 7pm so could still be full up from that.

I run the risk of noticing stuff that doesn’t actually exist as I am so aware of how I am feeling now because I am looking out for stuff - but I do think I feel a tiny bit nauseous

Whatstfpoint · 03/01/2026 11:54

I look forward to my second injection now, which is Wednesday. I stocked up on the healthy stuff I usually eat anyway. I boiled eggs earlier for my salads during the week. This is my third full day and still no cravings. Did not even snack last night. Easy to say no to myself.

Usually I would go for a walk today and stop somewhere for coffee and cake, so let's see what I end up with.

blackandwhitefluffycat · 03/01/2026 11:54

I’ve just had some berries with natural yogurt as I’m not hungry but I don’t want to risk the issues that can come from not eating regularly enough. My DH is eating once a day most days, and even then very little some days i.e. just a bowl of soup, but I want to eat a couple of times a day, and slightly more substantially. I rarely have breakfast anyway though and eat fairly healthily. He has a lot more to lose though.

Whatstfpoint · 03/01/2026 11:56

I have a real sense that a new life begins. I had the pen in the fridge for about three months before I worked up the courage to give myself the first dose. I know my snack cupboard has to disappear. It's always been well stocked and it can't be happening anymore. Thinking what else I will put in and what I'm going to reward myself with.

Georock · 03/01/2026 11:57

can you join you all too?! I’ve had one jab so far. I’ve been hesitant to try and been debating 2+ years. I’m going to use this pen and see what happens.

SW: 12.0 stones
GW: 9.0 stones

according to my BMI on nhs website I’m in the obese category! Aiming to be in healthy weight range
