Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

@blackandwhitefluffycat I have sudden lower back pain too! I have been googling a lot and decided im dehydrated as I also feel dizzy. I have been peeing a lot and lost 6lb since Saturday so it might well be.

Sorry to hear this. I think though this is about sustainable habits and a glass of wine after a bad doesn’t seem like something you need to quit!

I am not eating enough I think but finding it hard - I am shovelling in protein where possible.

not sure if I have moaned about this before but my husband (not on MJ) is using my motivation to motivate himself and is dieting and exercising - losing more weight than me and he hasn’t had to spend a week on the loo and another work trying to figure out how to eat as much protein as possible! I swear he already looks thinner!

Yeah that's true actually. To be fair I had 2 and now I'm in bed with a peppermint tea so I didn't completely fall off the wagon. Previously that could have spiralled to wine, crisps and anything else I can get my hands on!

God men always seem to lose weight easier!

YouBelongWithMe · 15/01/2026 21:35

Can I ask you how long it took for your WLI to kick in? Trying to work out when I might feel it. I'm on Wegovy, 0.25mg for first dose

Have you been pooing as much as normal? Constipation can cause lower back pain, and WLI can lead to constipation…

Oh no! Hopefully yours will improve once you become hydrated.

My first patch was on my thigh and I was fine (but I had the leg ache!), then the next ones I put on my back as I thought they’d be more like to stay on, and the back pain is since then! I’m on non progesterone ones for two weeks now so if the pain disappears and then comes back in two weeks when I’m on the progesterone ones I’ll know for sure!

Today (day 2 of dose 2)has been difficult for me. I woke up with stomach pain so bad I couldn't quite stand up straight. It's lessened off throughout the day, but still isn't right. I can't say for sure that it's the injections because I use a CPAP machine and occasionally swallow a lot of air, which has the same effect.

I had awful trapped wind - or something - in my first week - eat lots of fibre and drink loads of water!
Second week in - no side effects

ChilledProsecco · 15/01/2026 22:33

Whilst we’re talking about undignified things….. 🤣I’m usually as regular as clockwork with my bowels, but haven’t gone today.

For breakfast I had 2 small slices of raisin toast. Lunch was homemade carrot soup & a baby bel, then yoghurt in the afternoon. Dinner was chilli followed by a handful of grapes so fibre seems ok?

And I ran 5K tonight - had loads of energy & motivation at work too! What’s wrong with me?!

Springflowers3 · 15/01/2026 22:34

@notcomfortable good luck with the job interviews tomorrow.

@MJstarterbefore40 I feel a glass or two of wine after a really rubbish day at work should be allowed. It’s not allowing it to derail you that’s important. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

I am calorie counting and using nutracheck. I have been winging it for so long in terms of estimating how much I was eating and that clearly wasn’t working for me. I am mostly having about 1200 calories but have been feeling hungry and I think that is too low for me. I could definitely eat more and I’m not having huge appetite suppression - day 3 of second MJ, hoping the effect gets stronger with third jab.

That's not a lot of fibre. Grapes don't have much. Carrots yes. I'd add some fibre to breakfast or some plain muesli or oats to the yogurt.

If you like it you can swap rasin toast for crispbread. I love the Dr Kargs one.

I'm on 2.5 mg of mounjaro, which kicked in pretty much immediately for me.

Feeling a bit despondent today. Took my third dose last night. Didn’t lose any weight in the last week, even though I did everything right. Low cals (about 1200), high protein, exercise, lots of water. No wine, no Diet Coke, no chocolate, no snacking.

I know I just need to keep going, but it’s really disheartening.

2.5 is just a loading dose
My friend kept losing and gaining the same couple of lb
It wasn't until she went up to 10mg that she finally started losing weight

BG2015 · 16/01/2026 07:56

Second week weigh in sees a further loss of 3.1lb, so that's a total of 6.8lb. That is amazing.

Last January I started calorie counting - I did have a 2 week holiday all inclusive at Easter - but by July I'd only lost 10lb. I was drinking alcohol 3-4 days over the weekend, sneaking an odd snack, crisps, chocolate etc at weekends too so my focus probably wasn't 100%

But this is fantastic and I don't feel like I've been really hungry or deprived of nothing really. Only thing I haven't had is alcohol. I did fancy a gin last night but no mixer and the moment went.

My new side effect that I've also noticed this week is my feet. My feet are permanently freezing. I'm having to wear thicker socks and wrap my legs and feet in a blanket when I'm watching TV. Apparently many people mention this as a side effect (although it's not officially mentioned).

It's to do with circulation and not eating enough. I'm definitely eating though.

Thanks, that’s a helpful reminder, and proof of why I find weight loss so hard. I do all the right things and then nothing happens and I’m despondent.

I was really hoping to be able to lose a bit this month as I have to have a check up at the end of January and I wanted it to be better than last year, but looks like maybe 2027 will be the one instead 🤣.

I feel the same!

Lost 10lbs in the first week!
Weighed this morning and I’ve lost 0lbs a week later!

Have been logging what I’m eating and calories because I’ve not been interested in food at all, so it’s to make sure I’m eating an ok amount and getting enough protein and fibre etc. I’m drinking plenty of water and exercising. All healthy food.

Daily calories were 1030, 910, 1050, 910, 840, 990, 850 and no weight loss!

Although as I said previously, I put weight on eating 1400-500 since starting HRT, so maybe I need to go to 800 as in Fast800 for a couple of months.

Not constipated either - one time last week I went a day later than usual but all been fine since then.

My trousers do feel a bit looser though.

I’ve just had my 3rd jab. I still have the bruise from week 1!

Thank you, it’s good not to be alone, but I’m sorry you’re in the same situation. My PT always says consistency is key, so I think another week of being really good we might see some change. Keep at it. I was constipated this week, despite all the water, so that probably hasn’t helped either.

blackandwhitefluffycat · 16/01/2026 08:36

@Octagoneaway Yes, let’s stay postive and continue as we are!

MJ makes it easier to do that as I’m not hungry at all - normally it would be too easy to think, well I might as well have toast for breakfast if I’m not losing weight anyway, when I’m having hunger pangs!

2026istheyear · 16/01/2026 08:49

Week 2 weigh in and 4.9 pounds more down. Feeling so much more energetic, am going to bed earlier and sleeping so well (although I have always slept well had got in a real habit of reading until 2am) and have exercised every day.

SW: 16 st 9
Wk 1: -8.6 lbs
Wk 2: -4.9 lbs
CW: 15 st 9.5
GW: 12 stone

Excitingly my BMI has gone under 35 (I’m 5ft 7) and I am now under 100kg (I will use all available units for milestones 😂). I’m 52.

BG2015 · 16/01/2026 08:54

@Octagoneawayare you measuring your waist or boobs, hips.? I've definitely lost weight on my waist.

I love this! I am same height and I started at 99.8kg last week. I am 97.6kg today so roughly 5 pounds down in 8 days. I’m 45. Keep going!!! How much exercise are you doing?

2026istheyear · 16/01/2026 09:13

@greenspaces03 in the last week I did a Pilates class, a group exercise class, a PT weights session, 3 low impact peleton classes (as I have a recovering knee it all
needs to be low impact at the moment) which are 30 mins and 3 of the Peleton 10 minute arms workouts, and on most of the days I didn’t do a Peleton class I did an easy 40 min ride whilst watching Netflix! I also have dog walks but he’s an old boy so they are quite short these days.

I have always kept active but definitely upping my game. Good work on your loss so far too - we can keep comparing notes as same height and not far apart in weight!

Well done!!! I plan to stay consistent with my YouTube videos and 10kg Dumbells and 40 squats daily
