BG2015 · 26/12/2025 11:58

Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

is anyone calorie counting as well as doing the jabs? If so what are you aiming for every day? I jabbed on Sunday eve and struggled to get above 800 calories in Monday and Tuesday - I have a cold and had sinus pain which made me feel sick or of course could have been the meds. On weds I managed 1200 roughly and will look like the same today. A bit concerned it’s quite low. I’m aiming for high protein foods as I don’t want to lose muscle just fat.

blackandwhitefluffycat · 15/01/2026 18:48

Oh no @Tryingagainfor2026 thanks for the warning.

mendandmakedo · 15/01/2026 18:53

Tryingagainfor2026 oh no! that is terrible. Will you be able to get them to send new one out to you? Let is know how you get on. Thanks for the warning.

YouBelongWithMe · 15/01/2026 18:55

First day for me! Just did my first injection of Wegovy 0.25mg this evening. Will now join the chat as an active participant!

Yes, mine has been around 900-1000 (closer to 1000 on average) which I know is low, but it wasn’t particularly high when I was putting weight on (hormones!) and I’m making sure I’m eating plenty of protein, fibre and nutrients (and trying to eat low carb - I’ve cut out bread). People do the Fast800 for up to 12 weeks so I’m hoping it can’t be that bad in the short term. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm not calorie counting - I expect this to be a longer-term journey for me, so I don't want to get bogged down in tracking everything or slip into obsessing over calories.

However I am keeping a food diary, eating healthily, and eating smaller portions than before.

FrothyCothy · 15/01/2026 19:02

I’m tracking as well and aiming for around 1500 per day

Whatstfpoint · 15/01/2026 19:03

Tryingagainfor2026 · 15/01/2026 18:42

My appetite has returned and I eagerly went to get my second jab from fridge and seems I stored it to close to the back. It’s cloudy which means it’s frozen. It says you can’t use them if cloudy and it could be dangerous
i feel really angry at myself

please be careful with your pens

Oh no, this is most annoying. Store in the fridge door, on the top shelf, if you have any there. Hope you can get hold of another pen soon.

Whatstfpoint · 15/01/2026 19:07

I don't calorie count, but I do a rough estimate in my head as I did count before and sort of know what's okay. I just chose to ignore it sometimes. I only weigh/count if I introduce a new food to get a feel for the right quantity.

I'm quite determined to only introduce habits that I know I can sustain, and calorie counting isn't one of them. I might do it for a period of time when I have lost some weight and need to re-adjust. But right now I'm just huge and know how much I shouldn't eat. I can eat 2000kcal a day and still lose weight fast.

BooptotheFloof · 15/01/2026 19:16

I am calorie counting as although I know roughly what I eat I have a tendency to work out the calories in favour of whatever it is I want to eat

I am logging everything into MyFitnessPal which I am finding really useful for tracking nutrients too

I am eating 800 a day which I know is too low but I am eating three balanced meals a day and I’m really comfortable - I’ve had no sickness, d&v or constipation. I was very bloated last week but increased fibre and peppermint tea

I’m taking my next dose on Saturday and then I’ll have to think about my next injection and whether I move up

Ive lost 13 pounds in two a half weeks - most of that was week one but every time I stand on the scale it says a tiny bit less than the previous day so I’m happy

mendandmakedo · 15/01/2026 19:23

I cal count (sometimes slight estimateif home cooked meal)I give myself 1200 but usually get to 1000 do my fitness pal. Struggle getting enough fibre.

I have bought those body fat scales apparently tly measures different fats muscles water etc and links to your phone. Not sure how accurate it is.

BooptotheFloof · 15/01/2026 19:28

I have the scales too - I have had them a couple of years and I am not relying on them to be accurate but it’s nice to see the numbers change! And so far it’s going in the right direction

Although it still says my ‘body age’ is 57 - I am just 50 so that’s the one I want to get down!!!

I have a Renpho one and love it, but I hate the body age thing! Or rather, I hate it because mine is six years older than I actually am - it is my life’s mission to get it down. Visceral fat too, I REALLY want to see that number decrease.

CatNoBag · 15/01/2026 19:43

I'm using MyFitnessPal to track for now, partly because I know I tend to throw things in when cooking so it keeps me aware of how little additions add up, but also to help me keep count of protein and fibre. I've been getting about 1200-1300 cals a day, struggling to hit 120g of protein but I'm going to try and be a bit more organised with meal planning next week to work on upping this. I haven't completely cut carbs, but having a lot less than I normally would.

BooptotheFloof · 15/01/2026 19:45

DH’s ‘body age’ is the same as his actual age and sometimes younger - so I know the scales aren’t lying - I need to sort myself out!

It is quite addictive watching the numbers move though

Thank you. Yes, very annoying.
I actually was looking forward to the 2nd dose.
I know some people need to let the drug build up but I think I’m lucky and was an ‘early responder’ or whatever the term is.
I feel my appetite returning and wanted that 2nd dose. It’s the biggest craving I’ve had this week!

I am with Numan. I’ll have to see how quickly they can send it.
well, it sure was an expensive first dose…

Oh no! How frustrating. Is it MJ or WG? I think MJ only needs to be in the fridge until you use the first dose, then it’s ok out of the fridge for the 30 days it takes to use it up.

I hope they offer to replace it for you. Has to be worth a try. After all, you’ll be buying more!

MJstarterbefore40 · 15/01/2026 20:29

Oh girls I've had an awful day at work, handled something badly and it's playing on my mind. Feel rubbish and I've poured myself some wine.

So the mounjaro hasn't stopped that impulse. Only week 2 though.

mendandmakedo · 15/01/2026 20:35

@MJstarterbefore40 tomorrow is another day, you might feel better after a good night's sleep

Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad day!

Wine probably won’t help the stress - but don’t do what I’m sure we all always do and decide that you may as well just give up because you’ve broken the ‘diet’

Tomorrow is a new day - don’t drink wine tomorrow - and don’t let the work thing get you down

It’s probably nowhere near as bad as you think

blackandwhitefluffycat · 15/01/2026 21:05

I’ve mentioned before I’d had back pain since my last jab, and after much googling had found some other people who have had similar after starting MJ. However today it suddenly dawned on me that I’d started my new progesterone patches at around the same time…I hadn’t even considered they could the the cause as I’ve been on oral progesterone for 1.5 years with no major issues. Googled it and back pain is a well known very common side effect of the patches I’m on, and there are many more people with back pain caused by these! 😱 It explains the leg pain I had too, as muscular aches are a known common side effect. I am so relieved that it’s very likely to be these rather than the MJ! Not that it helps much if I need to be on them.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 15/01/2026 21:08

Today (day 2 of dose 2)has been difficult for me. I woke up with stomach pain so bad I couldn't quite stand up straight. It's lessened off throughout the day, but still isn't right. I can't say for sure that it's the injections because I use a CPAP machine and occasionally swallow a lot of air, which has the same effect.

you can get tablets for trapped wind, if it’s that? Can’t remember the name I’m afraid 😟

Sorry to hear this. I think though this is about sustainable habits and a glass of wine after a bad doesn’t seem like something you need to quit!

I am not eating enough I think but finding it hard - I am shovelling in protein where possible.

not sure if I have moaned about this before but my husband (not on MJ) is using my motivation to motivate himself and is dieting and exercising - losing more weight than me and he hasn’t had to spend a week on the loo and another work trying to figure out how to eat as much protein as possible! I swear he already looks thinner!
