Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

Yes but no!

As I said below, I went to my GP because of the symptoms from high blood pressure. The blood tests were to make sure they put me on the right meds for that as some of them can exacerbate kidney problems if you have them.

I'd been considering WLI for a while, and getting such a high glucose count and an official diagnosis of pre-diabetes was a real gut punch. I asked the GP if it was OK to go for the jabs and he said yes.

If I hadn't had the hypertension and pre-diabetes diagnoses I'd probably still be prevaricating whilst washing cake down with pints of baileys! 😂

As it is, I will be having monthly BP checks and 6-monthly bloods to see how the 2 conditions are progressing, so my weigtloss journey will be measured but almost as a side effect!

HollywoodTease · 14/01/2026 15:58

As an aside, my Gp surgery also has a "health kiosk" in reception that you can drop in and use at any time. You can do height and weight and blood pressure yourself and it goes onto your NHS record.

I have no idea if anyone ever looks at it but it's there. They also use it for contraception and HRT reviews, and asthma/copd reviews.

I think it's quite a new thing but I'm hoping to use it to track progress between actual appointments 🙂

Just checking in, hope everyone’s had a good weekend?
Took my second dose yesterday, have felt fine no side effects, but haven’t felt the appetite suppression has been as much as last weekend after my first dose. Have had a few more cravings for snacks, but still able to stop after a small amount which I would have struggled with before.
Weighed yesterday and was quite shocked to have lost 4kg. Had a few busy days at work last week and didn’t eat much at all, so think I need to be more prepared this week and meal prep so I’m not skipping lunch.
Felt exhausted running this am, legs were like jelly, had eaten a good breakfast before too, has anyone else had this?

Yes, i started on MJ on 4th January - did my slowest ever Park Run on Saturday 😢 I put it down to the low calorie intake (about 1200/day) reducing my energy levels

Choirgirl699 · 14/01/2026 17:01

So, here I go again. I'm restarting MJ after coming off in August 2025 (started March). I successfully lost 2st11lb and nearly reached my target of 10st. The price rise in September put me off carrying on and, tbh, I was a bit bored of it all, if that makes sense? I did really well for the first 2 months and only gained 2lbs but since October I've put on more weight. I'm now sitting at 10st13lb so made the decision to restart. Luckily I'm with Pharmulous so have been able to order. I hope to stay on 2.5mg for 3 months or so to reach my goal weight and then come up with a maintenance plan. Looking forward to tablets being approved later this year/2027.

I'm similar in some way - a lot of my extra weight is on my belly, so front on I don't look too bad, but my side profile is awful! I can cover that up to some extent with the right fitting clothes, but it would be so nice not to have to think about it! I've had my abdomen cut open and then keyhole a few years later, so that area is a bit of a mess. I'm hoping losing weight will help, but I think my bikini days (such as they were) are probably behind me.

I’m similar, I was always a pear shape but now I’m a pear shape with a belly!
I’ve also had multiple surgeries on my abdomen; my stomach was fine after two c sections and I was back in bikini afterwards but multiple open abdominal surgeries since then have destroyed my chances of ever wearing one again!

Can I ask - did folks go and talk to their GP first, before starting? I considered it, but didn't in the end (mostly because I don't really have time). Now I'm thinking maybe I should have. I don't have any existing health conditions as far as I know, but what you just posted @HollywoodTease has made me wonder if I should have checked.

No, ours are only interested in doing tests if you have symptoms. I was hoping to have a 40+ check (which was advertised on the NHS site), only to call and find out that they don’t do them in our area! I’m almost 46 and have never had my cholesterol checked or been checked for diabetes etc, and I’m in the obese category! I’m surprised a nurse/ GP hasn’t even mentioned my weight when I’ve been, but I think being pear shape makes it look less obvious, as my upper half is fairly slim (size 12/14 and collarbones are visible). I had low ferritin - level 10 - and it got back up to 22 after prescribed supplements, which is still low, but they said it’s high enough to stop supplements and that they won’t test again to see if it has dropped after stopping the supplements. So I doubt they’d be interested!

Good point - I think ours has a blood pressure machine, though I wouldn't know if the reading was bad or not!

Hettar · 14/01/2026 17:53

Hi everyone

I hope it's ok if I can join. For full disclosure I'm a man and have yo-yo sorted my entire life. I took my first dose 6 days ago.

SW: 17 st 8lbs
GW: 12 st

The only side effects I had was constipation on the first couple of days but that passed.

I changed my diet completely and ate all the right food as well as drinking lots of water; around 2-3 litres a day. I was terrified of side effects so wanted to make sure my diet was right.

I really don't know if the MJ was working or a placebo effect as I have had no interest in food at all. I can eat but don't really need. No cravings for treats or takeaways. I've struggled to eat up to a 1,000 locals, but will try to increase this.

I've weighed myself everyday and have so far lost 8lbs, which will probably be water weight.

Its really helpful reading other people's experiences. Thanks everyone for sharing.

Good point - I think ours has a blood pressure machine, though I wouldn't know if the reading was bad or not!

Ours advise us to buy one and use it at home! I was sent to the GP once by an optician as they thought my BP might be high - it was very high on that day, but I had to use my own monitor to keep track for a couple of weeks (it was fine)! They also said the HRT nurse would take the BP readings from my home device, and that I could have telephone reviews instead of going in for checks during my first year.

😂 Yes, welcome, Hettar! I have no interest in food either, and have been exactly the same in that regard. It feels so strange!

BG2015 · 14/01/2026 18:04

My GP has sent me a message (I have to do it once a year as I have high BP) to do a reading and my blood pressure was quite low and I did feel a bit woozy going from sitting on the floor to standing up this afternoon.

I know Wegovy can lower your BP. It wasn't dire but very low for me at 112/69

3rd shot tonight. I will change injection site to my arm today and then wait until after the weekend to decide if im going up or not. All my pains and aches are back, so I guess it's inflammation. I have quite a bit of food noise, but im full quicker and for longer so still eat less.

mendandmakedo · 14/01/2026 19:18

I weighed this morning 4lb off in 4 days. I am extremly pleased as I have eaten really healthily. Day 5 now after first jab I noticed felt some hunger today and eaten a bit more, still healthily. I struggled to eat that much at dinner so it is still working. Wondered whether to keep pen the fridge or not and if it makes much difference? Does anyone know? Suggestions seem to be don't have to keep in fridge but wondered if fridge is better for some reason.

FrothyCothy · 14/01/2026 19:27

I think once pen has been used it can be stored out of the fridge if you prefer.

We have a birthday in the house today so it was their turn to choose dinner - they went for Dominos! Full disclosure, my usual order would be a large stuffed crust pizza, a side of twisted dough balls and maybe even a large bottle of Coke (trust me, I am very aware of how I ended up being so overweight!).

Tonight I looked at the pizzas but none were appealing, even the smallest size. So I went for loaded veg and chicken strippers. With one pot of dip it was about 740 cals. I’ve only had breakfast today so came in well within cals - and I am SO full! I don’t think I can even manage a slice of cake.

Frickin’ witchcraft, this stuff.

glutenisthedevil · 14/01/2026 19:48

@FrothyCothy I usually have pizza with my family every Friday night but the thought of it is turning my stomach at the moment. Last Friday, I took 2 tortillas and added some tomato paste, a sprinkling of grated cheddar and topped it with some chicken, just so that I could at least feel included, and that was plenty.

I've had a rough few days with my digestion but managed a couple of chicken skewers and some veg tonight. My first proper meal since Sunday.

notcomfortable · 14/01/2026 20:02

I might bring forward my injection day. Thursday suits me better and I am STARVING, can't wait for it to 'kick' in properly 😫
Breakfast was a bowl of cereal, followed by scrambled eggs on toast
Mid morning snack of gluten free crackers, cheese and grapes
Another snack of a bacon roll
Lunch was a sweet chilli chicken wrap with protein mouse, a bag of crisps
Dinner was pizza
Then a bowl of cereal, Greek yoghurt and fruit
Now sat debating whether or not to make a sandwich 😫😅 but I'm going to have a protein shake instead

I feel exactly the same as I did without mj so I'm hoping I've not wasted money

goldylock · 14/01/2026 20:06

I'm hungry/have an appetite. But this not craving/wanting food is so strange...

Part of life is to enjoy food. Crave something delicious. So, thinking about it now, am not sure how I feel about saying on WLI long term.

I'm a crisp fiend. I have always eaten OK food. But then I'd eat bags of crisps to feel full (Ive never understood what feeling full felt like until MJ).

I haven't had any crisps. No urge. But I'm sorta missing the thrill of eating, if makes sense?

ChilledProsecco · 14/01/2026 20:10

Just taken my first injection. A bit paranoid about side-effects but am WFH tomorrow so not far from a toilet if needs be!

Feeling a bit sad in some ways, that I’ve lost control of my weight & it’s come to those.

But my weight is impacting my health - I’ve had gallstones with gallbladder out, high blood pressure & cholesterol. I was running last night & my knees felt the extra weight!

So at least I’m doing something about it. Even if I only lost 3kg, I’d be having a party!

BG2015 · 14/01/2026 20:12

@goldylockthis is how I feel. I don't like the unpredictability of how I feel each day. I'm going to stick with it for another dose which will be 0.5 and see how I feel. I've got it at a discount so at least I'm not paying full price.

Witchcraft is right! I’m still standing at the cupboard baffled why I don’t fancy any of the biscuits in there

I wish I had some of that 😂 I physically cannot stop eating 🥲🥲

Alltheyellowbirds · 14/01/2026 20:20

Ive been eating very carefully since i first jabbed on Saturday, mainly soup and veg and fruit, and in quite small portions.

Tonight I was really hungry and thought good chance to catch up on protein and healthy fats. Had a three egg omelette with a little Parmesan cheese and some veg. I now have really painful reflux/indigestion and feel uncomfortably full! So that’s a lesson learned. Three eggs is clearly too much!

namnamnam22 · 14/01/2026 20:24

2nd jab for me today, lost 7.5lb last week.. unexpected but over the moon. Have to say I am absolutely STARVING today though 😩
