BG2015 · 26/12/2025 11:58

Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.
CW 13stone
TW 11 stone

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

Just done jab 2. I've lost 5lb since last week, which amazes me. I haven't been counting calories or cutting any meals, but I've been more conscious of portion sizes and snacking, and walking more. I think I've tended to have portions that are too large and more out of habit than hunger (equal to DH and adult DS but I'm shorter and definitely don't need as much).

I am still feeling hungry at mealtimes and eating 3 meals. I assumed I'd move up to 5mg after 4 doses as that's the standard path.

mumlove1234 · 13/01/2026 09:38

I have been a lurker this past week but hope I can now join the chat.

I had my 2nd injection today ouchy and weighed myself - 7lbs off! I’m gobsmacked I have never lost that in one week. I know it will be water and definitely from not eating as much as I did but wow what a start. I’m hoping for 7lbs a month.

I didn’t have any side effects really last week, bit of a headache and few dodgy stomachs but nothing too bad. I would say I had less food noise, still very aware it was mealtimes and I should have something to to eat but it was out of necessity. It felt quite sad not being excited for meals or wanting the yummy treats but I felt much better this week and knowing I’m doing it for my health spurred me on.

I hope week 2 goes just as well. I’m not putting my stats but I have over 5 stone to lose to the weight I want to be. I would like to fit back into a size 14/16. I would be so happy at that. I can’t imagine being the size the guidelines say I should be.

good luck everyone for this week!

Is anyone else wrecked? I dont know if its the wegovy, the fewer calories, or the more frequent early morning gym classes, but im absolutely wiped all the time. Im going to bed early and getting a good night's sleep.

I bet it’s the gym classes! If they’re a new routine that is, I’m always wiped when I start a new exercise. And early morning too, well done!

Alltheyellowbirds · 13/01/2026 09:54

@mumlove1234 Congratulations on the loss, that’s brilliant! Good luck for your next week.

blackandwhitefluffycat · 13/01/2026 09:58

After a 10lb loss in the first week I’ve just done a mid week weigh in and have lost 0 so far!

I’ve been counting calories and have been eating 900-1000 a day, and exercising daily! Although I’ve always exercised daily, and I’ve never eaten terribly - I’m not a snacker. And my calorie count has never been that high.

I think I need to go a bit lower, as the appetite suppression has been high for me - I have been forcing myself to eat regularly because I know I should, not because I’m hungry. The popular Fast800 diet apparently has an 800 calorie phase for 2-12 weeks, so I’m thinking it can’t be terrible to drop lower temporarily…

FrostyFlo · 13/01/2026 10:31

For all those that have lost big 1st week amounts - well done !
It encouraged me to get on the scales although my official weigh in is not til Friday .
I last weighed in 2/1 when I first applied ( with Bolt ) but my first jab on Fri .
Since the 1st I have cut down on meals ( smaller plate ) done 0 picking and haven't had any snacks , hardly no bread , switched to wholemeal pasta , gone low fat etc
so basically been Mrs . Goody twoshoes . 😂

So I know the loss is not just the jab , but 16lbs off !

I googled this and apparently any diet the first week big woosh off is partly Glycogen
( water weight ) and can be ( according to the AI answer ) between 2 and 10lbs .

Edited to add I have a lot to lose - 5/6 stone .

FrothyCothy · 13/01/2026 10:46

I’m another with 5+ stone to lose (probably closer to 7 to get a healthy BMI but I don’t think I’ve been that weight since primary school!). I’ve used MyFitnessPal for over a decade so was scrolling back through some stats last night. Some of your starting weights are the weight I’d like to end up at 😆

goldylock · 13/01/2026 12:49

Day 6 of Second Injection.

Well, if I didn't know myself that I'd injected last Thursday, I'd say that I never injected anything at all.

I have no side effects/appetite suppression at all.

Third injection this Thursday.

Whatstfpoint · 13/01/2026 12:54

My disordered eating is on full display. I ate about half for lunch of what I'd normally eat. I know I'm going to feel unwell if I eat more, but I WANT TO EAT. There is some kind of emptyness I feel and I have been drowning this with food, always looking for the next thing to eat. It's great I am aware of it so I can hopefully overcome that, but what a sad state of affairs.

BG2015 · 13/01/2026 14:36

@goldylockyou and I are at the exact same time frame, my third injection is Thursday too. I don't feel as hungry as I did but I too have very few side effects.

How much weight have you lost? Not weighed myself since Sunday when I'd lost 5.5lb in 11 days.

I hear you.
one reason I delayed so much in trying this is I heard ‘it suppresses your hunger’ and well, I don’t eat because I’m hungry…
I mean obviously sometimes but my overeating isn’t due to me having some unusually large appetite.

like you said though, whilst it’s a ‘sad state of affairs’ revealing it and bringing it into consciousness is the only way to change it.

Lols, injection twinsies 🤣

Well done! That's a great loss.

I took first injection on a Friday, but decided to take second on so on on a Thurs, as suits better timing-wise.

I've about 3 stone to lose (SW 14 stone), but 2 stone is fine with me (ideal is 12 stone), as I play a lot of tennis.

Currently as I weighed myself this morn, I've 3 pounds down. Now, I thought I'd lost 3 pounds last week and went back up the scale to just over 14, so I'm never really sure what I've lost.

My usual feeling is inflamed. I went to a dietician few years ago, and I stayed the same the whole way through. I eventually started taking progesterone only (no estrogen) 200 mg per night and in a week I lost a stone.

My body feels very heavy right now, so from reading other posts and absorbtion, I think my hormones have gone scatty again.

I play tennis (compeditively) and had a match last night. I had a rain proof jacket on and my abdomen was all jelly belly. I look so freaking fat horsing it around a court. The weight makes it hard for me to move.

I dunno what I thought about the WLIs. Like all of a sudden I'd be a skinny mini.

Am afraid to tell my gynae I'm on mounjaro incase she wants to put a coil or something in (which I won't do).

I hope you are getting on better 🙂🙂 (sorry for the long post-had to let it all out).

Octagoneaway · 13/01/2026 15:29

@goldylock @BG2015 Same here. Third jab due on Thurs. Almost no side effects (a bit bunged up😬), and little appetite suppression.

Lost 5lbs the first week, gained half a lb this week, which is disappointing as I’ve been soooo good. No choc, no booze, no snacks, lots of water, lots of protein, about 1200 cals a day. It means I’m looking forward to my next jab in the hope it starts to move things forward, and if not, roll on the next dose.

Time to face the music! I put it off too because of fear of the side effects and the idea of not having my food as I am used to. But I know I'm gonna die an early death otherwise so here I am!

Edited

Are you still taking progesterone - if you are you defo need to speak to your gynae as the injections can cause complications with hormone treatment

I am also massively against the coil - so whatever my dr suggests next week that isn’t an option for me

Hope it gets sorted - hormones are the devils work!

Does anyone else just feel less interested in food? I’ve only done one jab and I don’t feel full from eating a meal (can finish what I did before) but I’m less prone to sniffing around for food outside meal times and I’m not bothered about having breakfast. It’s quite an odd feeling.

i was expecting to not be able to manage a big meal, i appreciate I’ve only had one jab though and it’s just the start.

Edited

Yes, it's like this for me too. Although started dieting on wednesday prior to the saturday. I wonder if normal weight people feel a bit like this with their apetite and food.

I woke up hungry this morning and thought it was wearing off. But then felt satisfied on less calories still

notcomfortable · 13/01/2026 16:48

I'm not even sure i injected 😂 i feel nothing! When I started in March last year I got sickness & diarrhoea and sulpher burps within 48 hours
So this is a very strange turn of events. Maybe I've managed "better" as my body has already tolerated this medication
Not even a percent of my hunger has been suppressed which I'm gutted with as reading everyone's comments I expected it to click on like a switch but I should've known better 🤦‍♀️

goldylock · 13/01/2026 17:13

@BooptotheFloof

Yes, still on the progesterone.

I just don't have the mental energy right now to contact the gynaes secretary, to battle against her, to then pay e250 for a consult.

Ill leave it a couple more weeks, as am on my last Perscription then.

Is there any other way to get progesterone into us? I hope your consult goes well.

Perianth · 13/01/2026 17:19

Late to the party, but here I am. I've been wanting to post but felt the need to read the full thread first, and you were all posting quicker than I could read!

I did my first jab (MJ) on Sunday, after much deliberation, but so far, so good. The only side effect I've had was a headache, and it certainly seems to be working its magic for me - whilst I'm still enjoying what I do eat, I'm eating much less, not snacking and every time I consciously think about being hungry, the feeling kind of slips away. It's odd.

My partner is also hoping to lose weight, but by proxy. She is taking inspiration from my reduced appetite and eating less too (just with more hunger pangs!)

I have a lot to lose - around 6-7 stone, I am post-menopause and basically don't want to die yet or develop a chronic disease, so am determined to make this work.

Welcome! Glad to hear it all kicked off well.
im just 2 days ahead of you. I too have had no side effects hardly.

I’m feeling very little hunger. I think none really. I just am eating as I like the taste of some stuff occasionally.
i started 10 days ago with clean eating- then Jab on Friday- and today I already feel much better. I had been drinking and eating so mock over November and December that I Josh felt bloated all the time.

Im on a bit of a high. My mood seems much better. I don’t know if that’s because it’s the first time in my life where I’m in calorie deficit and not feeling deprived.

I haven’t had a social situation yet..

Ralphiesaurus · 13/01/2026 18:24

I thought it was wearing off (next jab due tomorrow) but my DH and DD got Costa and I ordered a drink I haven't had before and genuinely couldn't drink it because it was too sweet! The difference to earlier in the week was that the thought of it was appealing... whereas earlier I wouldn't have considered ordering anything sweet.

So let's see what jab two brings... and first weigh-in eek

Howmuchhowlong · 13/01/2026 19:51

I did my first jab on Friday, have definitely had less appetite, zero snacks and consciously tracking calories to under 1000 each day. I weighed this morning and O.5 off and honestly felt a bit underwhelmed.
I won't weigh again until the weekend, and hopefully it'll be positive

mendandmakedo · 13/01/2026 19:52

notcomfortable · 12/01/2026 19:21

I just lost my job today. Failed probation Sad properly gutted and feels like things are about to come crashing down. Sorry to bring the vibe down, just really feeling sorry for myself today

Sorry to hear this.

FrothyCothy · 13/01/2026 19:55

I am a bit of a Coke addict, so have been buying Coke Zero as a compromise for the past year or so and drinking a couple of cans a day. Now I can’t even finish one! So weird.

Back to the gym today, plus 12,000 steps and around 1,400 calories. I feel pretty stuffed this evening which is, again, weird.

Will see how next week goes but if it’s the same I think I’ll go another month on this lowest dose and hope it keeps doing its thing.
