Brand new January 2026 starters

BG2015 · 26/12/2025 11:58

Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

Has anybody’s resting heart rate increased since being on WLI? My Fitbit tells me mine has since my first jab on Sat which is a tad concerning, though I did come down with a cold the same day so it could be that.

Edited

Yes, I had a notification come through on my Apple Watch this morning saying it had increased. Like Gluten said, I’m just going to keep an eye on it and hope it improves with weight loss.

Yes and mine . I going to take my bp ( monitor also has rhr ) every other day but apparently even up to 100 is classed as normal .

Ralphiesaurus · 12/01/2026 19:19

Yes my RHR is up slightly and my heart rate variability (which is how Garmin measures sleep) is down... which meant I had two nights that Garmin told me my sleep was "poor". I googled it and these are known side effects, but the general consensus is that the benefit of losing weight on your cardiovascular health outweighs the minor changes.

And I have stopped wearing my Garmin at night as it was stressing me out! 🤣

On the whole though I still feel strangely calm... it's very nice! For me and for my family. I've been quite ratty recently - the amount of extra stuff to do over Christmas has that effect! But now I'm all relaxed and, dare I say it, chipper!?!

Long may this last. I hope my 2nd jab on Weds doesn't tip me over the edge...!

I just lost my job today. Failed probation Sad properly gutted and feels like things are about to come crashing down. Sorry to bring the vibe down, just really feeling sorry for myself today

Alltheyellowbirds · 12/01/2026 19:22

glutenisthedevil · 12/01/2026 18:17

@Alltheyellowbirds yes, mine increased by two bpm. It's since come down by one and I'm hopeful that it will fall as I lose weight, but I am keeping an eye on it.

Thank you, I feel better for being in company! Let’s keep an eye on it together.

Ralphiesaurus · 12/01/2026 19:24

Oh so sorry to hear that @notcomfortable - my insensitively cheery post crossed with yours. What a horrible day for you 😞. Look after yourself

Alltheyellowbirds · 12/01/2026 19:26

@AddUpToNothing, @FrostyFlo @Ralphiesaurus

OK then, seems it’s normal! Phew. Thanks all x

I’m so so sorry.

IamSmarticus · 12/01/2026 19:28

I am about to do jab no2 so have weighed myself after my first week - I have lost 1lb. One. I have been starving all week, have not eaten any of the crap I usually do and have felt constantly hungry, for 1lb!!

Oh well, here goes my second jab, lets hope it starts to work soon!

Ah just bad timing, do not worry!! Just wanted to get it off my chest as I feel very lonely.
I haven't noticed any issues with my heart rate but then I always seem to have a high resting heart rate, mine sits around 80
Hopefully nothing too concerning for you

Feeling a sort of calmness is all quite normal too, I remember the first time I was on mj my mind just went quiet. I had no second voice listing off 101 things to do, it was just silence
Not got that this time around tho 👎😅 x

Sorry to hear this.

2026istheyear · 12/01/2026 19:48

@notcomfortable so sorry to read that - what a rubbish day for you.

blackandwhitefluffycat · 12/01/2026 19:51

I haven’t checked my heart rate recently. I had to stop wearing my Fitbit a few years ago as my resting heart rate often drops to below 50 and an alarm kept going off! I went to see the GP and after an ECG they said all was ok. It’s caused minor issues pre and post surgery though. So I can afford for mine to go up a bit!

My back is finally better today, thank goodness. I think it was linked to digestive issues.

Dewberrywotsit · 12/01/2026 19:56

@notcomfortable I am so sorry to read that you've had such a crappy day. Sending support and a hand hold. You will get through this. We all experience moments where we feel like we have 'failed' at something, just to reassure you you are not alone in that feeling. I hope there is a better opportunity out there for you.

Dewberrywotsit · 12/01/2026 20:02

MrTiddlesTheCat · 12/01/2026 15:08

I want to stay on the lowest dose I can as there's a huge price leap each increase where I live. I'm also in fear of losing too quickly and having loads of sagging skin (while simulaneously wanting to lose it all overnight.)

Ditto - will stay on 2.5 if I am able to. I don't see the point in going up if it is reducing appetitie which it is. Also don't want to risk side effects.

I am very much hoping for this feeling of quiet and calm - my brain is usually not a haven of either and it sounds utterly delightful.

blackandwhitefluffycat · 12/01/2026 20:06

I was planning on staying on 2.5 until it doesn’t work any more, however I read that it’s not even classed as a therapeutic dose, so I’m not sure now. I’ll see how things are going in a couple of weeks.

Topsyturvey10 · 12/01/2026 20:52

Does anyone else just feel less interested in food? I’ve only done one jab and I don’t feel full from eating a meal (can finish what I did before) but I’m less prone to sniffing around for food outside meal times and I’m not bothered about having breakfast. It’s quite an odd feeling.

i was expecting to not be able to manage a big meal, i appreciate I’ve only had one jab though and it’s just the start.

Tryingagainfor2026 · 12/01/2026 21:11

@HeidiLite Thank you so much for your words. They’ve really helped me today.
thank you

bookwormcrazy · 12/01/2026 21:15

Second Jab done! I have lost 3lbs in my first week which I am happy with.

I am off on a work trip for the next 2 days so I am glad it’s at the start of my new jab as I then have the rest of the week to try and recover from any excess - and hopefully I don’t have too many side effects. The only real problem I had last week was a headache but I managed to solve that with electrolytes so will make sure I take some away with me just in case.

I'm on my first as well ( day 4 tomorrow ) and have cut down loads due to no appetite . Today all I've eaten is 1 shreaded wheat , I kiwi and this evening a Salmon fillet & broccoli , drank lots of peppermint tea .

BooptotheFloof · 12/01/2026 22:38

I took dose 2 yesterday - a day late because we were away - today I feel no different to normal really - but similar to @Topsyturvey10 i am not looking to snack which was my biggest downfall before

I had a good breakfast - rubbish lunch and when I say rubbish I mean I ate a carrot! Then had a lovely veggie stir fry with a tablespoon of nutritional yeast added for dinner - never used it before but read about it in the Tim Spector Cook Book - and it really adds a lovely layer of flavour that is a bit nutty and cheesy which stops my craving for a layer of grated cheddar!

Sorry to hear about your job @notcomfortable - maybe they knew they only need you over Christmas and have used a ‘probation period’ to cover their arses?
I am sure something better will come along

BooptotheFloof · 12/01/2026 22:41

Oh I forgot to say I am also planning on staying on 2.5 for at least the next one as well … I have come across a lady on YouTube who has pretty much used 2.5 through her whole journey and has had epic losses

A lot if it is down to building up willpower with the help of the injections - for me knowing I am spending £150 a month is really REALLY focussing my efforts!!!!

Whatstfpoint · 12/01/2026 22:50

2 days before my 3rd injection. Food noise is still there, but my digestion is sloooow and I physically can't overeat. So I guess it's working. I was quite hungry at the weekend so ate normally. I really can't describe the feeling in my stomach other than heavy and full. So I had a light dinner, didn't eat the cake or the biscuit and so on because of how its going to make me feel.

FrothyCothy · 12/01/2026 23:07

Jab 2 done - ouch! Met a friend tonight who is starting this week as well so feel glad to have a fellow real-life traveller on the journey to supplement the online ones!

4lbs off on week 1 and minimal side effects, definitely felt more snacks today but came in just over 1500cals - fingers crossed for week 2.
