Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.
CW 13stone
TW 11 stone

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

Day 6 of first jab and I'm feeling very hungry today. It's not overwelming me yet, but it's definitely there. I'm also absolutely bloody knackered as I had a hospital appointment at stupid-o'clock, and couldn't sleep from worrying about not getting enough sleep. Sleep, or rather lack of it, is a major factor in my overeating.

LittlePickleHead · 12/01/2026 11:16

Just joining this thread as my first Mounjaro pen is on its way! Weight has steadily crept on last couple of years, mostly caused by unbelievable amounts of stress and then I’m sure exacerbated by peri menopause. First time I’ve ever been overweight and with a bmi of 28 and raised cholesterol I’ve become eligible 😣

tried for the last six months to shift the weight with exercise, low carb, calorie counting and it’s not working at all, I’m still gaining which I don’t understand

hoping to lose two stone, start running again, do some weights and generally get back to being healthy and active

2026istheyear · 12/01/2026 11:20

I went to an exercise class on Saturday where I was the oldest by at least 20 years and Pilates this morning where I was the youngest by 20 years (I’m 52). At both classes I was the only one who is overweight (and I have over 5 stone to lose) and couldn’t do it all but I have realised that noone cares, they are just doing their own thing. Everyone was really friendly and I feel great afterwards so if you can I recommend joining a group class as part of this journey 😀

Good on you! Its so scary putting yourself out there sometimes but generally people are also there just to work out/chat with their mates
They aren't looking at you or judging what you are wearing etc
Keep it up 😊

Morning everyone . I have been tracking n religiously since beginning of Jan, but yesterday took a day off from tracking. Really enjoyed my roast dinner .

still weighing every morning to get the trend .

im two doses on 2.5 g so far and have just reorded my next pen at 5g . I was deliberating n going up or staying on 2.5mg but ultimately decided to move up.

has everyone else thought about what they might be doing ?

I'm only week 2 on 2.5mg but right now I think I want to stay on that dose another month. See how I get on this week. Did you lose consistently on the 2.5? What's making you want to move up?

2026istheyear · 12/01/2026 14:37

@cravingmilkshake I’ve been thinking the same. It’s working well for me on 2.5 but going to wait until after dose 3 and make a decision. I might order a 5mg pen and start with 2.5 from it (looking at the prices it was about £20 more from my supplier) so that I am covered either way.

bookwormcrazy · 12/01/2026 14:42

@HeidiLiteWhat a lovely inspiring message. Hopefully that will be us in a years time!

MrTiddlesTheCat · 12/01/2026 15:08

I want to stay on the lowest dose I can as there's a huge price leap each increase where I live. I'm also in fear of losing too quickly and having loads of sagging skin (while simulaneously wanting to lose it all overnight.)

I will be staying on 2.5 for as long as I can
I don't seem to have any side effects this time around thankfully but I definitely don't want to rush it

Aww that's lovely of you to come on here - thanks for you good wishes . I hope to be one of the big losers as have over 7 stone to lose and maybe even more if I want to get to the lower end of my bmi .

Can’t remember my last update but am now on day two post second jab. No side effects apart from a headache yesterday. Good appetite suppression and not the complete aversion I had on week one.

Got an email from Boots about if I want to go up a dose next time and emailed back to say only my second week so not sure and they said I could confirm after my third jab. If it stays like this then I will stay on 2.5mg I think.

having spent most of last week with diarrhea I have the opposite problem this week which I am trying to solve by eating kiwis…

Inspiring!! I would love weight loss goals not to feature for me in January 2027

Alltheyellowbirds · 12/01/2026 17:34

Has anybody’s resting heart rate increased since being on WLI? My Fitbit tells me mine has since my first jab on Sat which is a tad concerning, though I did come down with a cold the same day so it could be that.

glutenisthedevil · 12/01/2026 18:17

@Alltheyellowbirds yes, mine increased by two bpm. It's since come down by one and I'm hopeful that it will fall as I lose weight, but I am keeping an eye on it.

I change my mind daily! One minute I think if I’m losing each week, then why change. Then I’ll read something suggesting 2.5mg is just a stater dose and you should move up to 5mg…

I’ve just had my 2nd dose on Saturday, so I’m going to see how I feel after my 3rd and go from there.

Kickingasssince72 · 12/01/2026 18:22

Lost 5lbs the first week! No side effects at all, struggling to eat, but prioritising protein, via shakes when needs be. maximum 36lbs to lose, so 31 to go. But, I’m not sure if that will be too skinny at my age (53). So excited for the coming few months, and glad I took the plunge.
