Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

Can I join late?
I just started mounjaro and had jab 1 on Friday, I've not noticed any suppression of food noise yet, but am less interested in snacking and have noticed feeling fuller sooner with meals. So taking this as a win, as my portion size was huge, and I was constantly snacking.

MJstarterbefore40 · 11/01/2026 19:06

Definitely feeling like it's worn off today. Looking forward to 2nd jab tomorrow. Although if Sunday is the day I maybe eat a bit more then I can live with that actually. Had a nice roast dinner and really enjoyed it. Stayed away from dessert and wine although I probably won't do that every week but want to get a really solid week under my belt. Will weigh tomorrow!

Ocelotfeet27 · 11/01/2026 19:15

Great to hear how everyone is getting on. I'm at the end of my first week and disappointed at the lack of effect Mounjaro has had so far on my eating, to the extent I'd think maybe I was on a placebo if it weren't for the headaches I am getting every time I eat and intermittent weird taste in my mouth. I've definitely eaten less than I normally would and better, but that's because I have been focused on doing that. Definitely still snacking and keen on my usual vices (cheese and chocolate). Hopefully will get more of an effect as I move through the doses.

2026istheyear · 11/01/2026 19:34

Just had one of those M&S nutrient dense meals - chicken satay. It was tasty but I couldn’t eat it all - I had a different one yesterday and did eat it all so the effects of jab 2 on Friday evening are clearly building. I have had those awful sulphur burbs today (sorry if tmi!) but otherwise feel great and have stuck to my exercise plan, forced myself to do a Peleton class before supper and felt much better for it!

bookwormcrazy · 11/01/2026 19:36

I am due my second jab tomorrow night, weighed myself 2 days ago and I had lost 3 lbs, weighed myself this morning and I had gained 1lb. 😓 really need to restrict myself to only weighing once a week.
I can’t say I have appetite suppression but I am making better choices and when I’m not really hungry, the food noise is much less.
it’s been a tough week mentally so I will take anything as a win. I am doing much better with my food tracking than I have ever been on previous diets.

bookwormcrazy · 11/01/2026 19:42

I have also just bought some collagen and Pumpkin seed oil with saw palmetto for my hair. Anything to help reduce the effects of loosing weight can’t hurt.
And to be honest, being knee deep in peri menopausal, they will help anyway regardless of being on Mounjaro.

ThisAmusedPoet · 11/01/2026 20:12

Day 4 after first jab and felt hungrier today. Had a roast dinner and had to consciously eat less rather than wanting to eat less, if that makes sense!
hoping to keep busy Monday and Tuesday until jab day on Wednesday and keep counting the calories. Don’t feel many (if any) side effects, or much effect at all at the moment but I think that’s normal!

Ralphiesaurus · 11/01/2026 20:16

Have to keep reminding myself it’s very early days for me as I only started on Weds! The effect seems to be subtle, but helpful - easily turned down a biscuit this morning, am eating more slowly, and genuinely didn’t want dessert after dinner. No side effects to speak of, apart from two very bad nights of disturbed sleep. Last night was better, thankfully.

blackandwhitefluffycat · 11/01/2026 20:16

I always take multivitamins and minerals, flaxseed and extra vitamin D (and ferritin every other day due to low ferritin) but you’ve reminded me about the biotin hair/ skin supplements I got from the H&B advent calendar a year ago, so I’ve just added those into my routine too! I’m vegetarian so not sure about collagen, as it seems the vegetarian supplements just ‘encourage’ collagen production (the last time I looked, anyway).

Lovingtheglitter · 11/01/2026 20:16

I have just done my first dose. Feel a little anxious as I really don’t want side effects but also excited. This will be a long journey for me as I have a lot to lose but I’m looking forward to seeing steady losses as I go on. Good to read others experience as I don’t feel like I’m doing it alone 😊

Concernedcatmum · 11/01/2026 20:20

Just checking in, hope everyone’s had a good weekend?
Took my second dose yesterday, have felt fine no side effects, but haven’t felt the appetite suppression has been as much as last weekend after my first dose. Have had a few more cravings for snacks, but still able to stop after a small amount which I would have struggled with before.
Weighed yesterday and was quite shocked to have lost 4kg. Had a few busy days at work last week and didn’t eat much at all, so think I need to be more prepared this week and meal prep so I’m not skipping lunch.
Felt exhausted running this am, legs were like jelly, had eaten a good breakfast before too, has anyone else had this?

goldylock · 11/01/2026 20:51

Supplement-wise, I take:

Morning:
1 x Cranberry tablet
2 x Seabuckthorn
1 x B12
1 x Selinium + zinc
1 x 3000 mg Vit D

Early evening:
2 x Seabuckthorn

Night:
1 x Magnesium
2 x 100 mg progesterone

I should be aging backwards 🤣

Im similar. Not due for next jab until Wednesday evening. Appetite seems to be coming back today more than it had been, as in i felt hungry more frequently and had larger meals, but still not looking for snacks and am much fuller for longer after a meal. Busy day tomorrow should keep the food house at bay hopefully

Splitunnoticed · 11/01/2026 21:15

Third jab this morning. Slight twinge in lower back on left hand side. Could be kidney, could be sitting awkwardly at the theatre last night. Hopefully the latter!! Pleased with looser jeans, but also want it to happen quicker, as I look the same in the mirror 😂

Zero interest in food, I think I need to purposefully add veg twice a day!!

I’m taking collagen, biotin, fibre powder and vitamin D. I probably need to add iron, but I hate the black poo 🤦🏼‍♀️

FrothyCothy · 11/01/2026 22:03

2nd jab due tomorrow. Had a takeaway last night but managed to keep it to a much more respectable amount of food than we usually do 😁 Trying to stick to around 1500 cals per day so it’s going to be a slow and steady one for me. Back to the gym this week now the snow and ice is gone, not been since August 😳

glutenisthedevil · 12/01/2026 07:15

I've been up since 5.30am with a bad stomach and the dreaded sulphur burps so it looks like I'm in for another day of v&d, just like this time last week. It seems that this is going to be a day 2 side effect for me.

First weigh in this morning. 6lbs off! I know that will mainly be water weight but so happy with that! Second jab day today.

Octagoneaway · 12/01/2026 07:43

Feeling cheesed off this morning. I did my second jab on Thursday. My weight had been the same since Wednesday, even though I’ve been consistently good and I’ve stuck to approx 1200 cals and plenty of protein. Today it was up half a lb. I know that’s probably water/waste/nothing to worry about, but I am not impressed🤬.

Oh no! Remember it's early days and Wednesday was only a few days ago. I am sure if you keep going on those calories you will lose.

Thanks, I know you’re right, but it’s very infuriating.

I’ve not had loads of appetite suppression yet, I’ve needed plenty of will power. So hopefully things will improve soon.

It was the same for me. I started to retain water, probably a body stress response. I have lost it now. But my digestion is slowing notably so I'm not eliminating as usual and feel heavy and full. I started to weigh every day to get this big number from the water retention out of my head. Would you believe that my weight goes up and down every day by quite a bit. Yesterday I was the lightest id been in a long time but not today.v

Just done my second jab. Here's to week 2!

glutenisthedevil · 12/01/2026 10:22

I just had an email from my provider (HeySlim) asking me to check in so that they can get my next pen ready, so it turns out I didn't need to worry about when I should order it after all.

It automatically changed my dose to 5mg but I've asked if I can step back down to 2.5mg given some of the symptoms I've had. I don't feel ready to jump up just yet. I'm hoping it won't be a problem.
