BG2015 · 26/12/2025 11:58

Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.
CW 13stone
TW 11 stone

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

How are you going to reward yourself going forward?

I’m going to stop being a social hermit and go out more. I haven’t had a night out in I don’t know how long as I just feel so uncomfortable and self-conscious being the weight and size I am.

Also years ago I was gifted a voucher for a style/colour analysis that I never felt comfortable enough to use so I might brave that.

And I’ll probably get another tattoo 😁

We are going on a big holiday this year, Thailand for a month. We're doing a lot of travelling around and this is one of the reasons that I want to lose weight. I don't want to be a 'fat' backpacker and feel uncomfortable in the heat.

I've said to DP that if I /when I get to my goal weight I'm going to treat myself to some new swimwear.

How are you going to reward yourself going forward?

Fantastic! We’re going to Florida and I have the perfect summer clothes from a couple of years ago that I no longer fit into; I really don’t want to buy everything new! The holiday is costing a ridiculous amount, so feeling great on it will be reward enough!

@FrothyCothy I’m a social hermit too but that’s just me - I’ve always been that way 😂

Whatstfpoint · 10/01/2026 14:33

I will need very instant rewards as I currently use food to relax. That's something I really need to figure out. This feeling of comfort i get when I want to sit and relax with some chocolate. No idea what's it going to be instead. I don't think I can just ignore it. I need to replace it with something.

Is there a hot drink you like? That can be a relaxing thing. I’ve got really into hot turmeric milk recently and also fennel tea for some reason. I’ve been trying to make a little ritual of sitting sipping them, to replace the comfort food.

Try to change your thinking - you are doing something really, really positive for yourself.

If it helps you to know - I am over one year in and four stone lighter and my life has improved in every possible way. Yes I look better but that’s almost a by product - the fact I’m now so much happier is what really makes me so grateful for Mounjaro. When I think back to how I felt last Christmas I’m a different person.

Thank you. And yes, I agree I need to change my thinking. I’m aware MJ isn’t a miraculous cure. You still have to reduce intake, increase exercise etc. it’s just a helping hand. Which I need.

its great to hear of your progress and how much happier you are. Thank you.

Yes but it's not the same. Do you get the same out of it?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 10/01/2026 14:50

I'm in shock. Mounjaro won hands down. I absolutely love ikea strawberry cheesecake and was thinking about it all the way there. But when it was before me, I just admired its beauty and walked on by.

It's probably what it takes. I will keep trying with the drinks.

In response to the post I just saw...and cannot find again...from someone who said they were constipated - I am eating flaxseed/chia seeds with yoghurt and sugar free granola...I really like it luckily...but also because I heard it keeps you regular ;)

My treat is that I’m going to be able to wear half of my wardrobe again!

also going on a big holiday this year so I’m looking forward to being more comfortable in the heat

MrTiddlesTheCat · 10/01/2026 17:28

My treat will be a massage. I know it's something I could do now but I feel too embarrassed because of my weight.

ThisAmusedPoet · 10/01/2026 17:59

I have to get some new photos done for work so that will be my “treat” when I get there!

(so hard thinking it’s “when” and not “if” - really hoping this MJ does the trick!)

By chucking out all my clothes ( even the smaller sized ones ) and starting again .
I'm going to go for a much smaller quantity wardrobe of clothes , but better quality .

Octagoneaway · 10/01/2026 19:12

I keep looking in the sales online, and then telling myself not to buy because it’ll be too big by next winter 🤞.

Splitunnoticed · 10/01/2026 19:20

Great idea to have a treat planned!!

I’ve got lots of smaller size work/weekend clothes already as I was skinny before having babies, but I’m definitely planning new holiday clothes for our hols end of July!!

Also, I’ve just booked my next hairdresser appointment for 6 weeks time and looking forward to a brighter colour and new haircut 😊

Onbdy · 10/01/2026 20:43

Another new starter. I started MJ on the 4th and weighed today. I have lost 5.5 pounds. Happy with that but I want to lose at least 3.5 - 4 stones. I’ve not had any major side effects so far and my appetite hasn’t been massively suppressed yet either. However, I did find the first week on the diet easier and I have been less tempted to cheat. I am trying to change my eating habits as well as taking MJ. One weird thing I experienced was my Friday night treat fun size packet of malteasers tasting off. I mean it’s not a bad thing but just curious to know if it’s a thing? 🤔😂

Springflowers3 · 10/01/2026 22:05

Just had my second jag of MJ. Have lost 3lbs in the first week which I am pleased with. Haven’t had huge appetite suppression so I’m hoping that increases with more doses. It has definitely helped me snack less, reduce portion size and not feel massively hungry after a day on reduced calories.

I definitely need to be more active then I’ve been last week. My partner just had a big operation so I’ve been working from home. Next week I’ll be out and about a lot more and when he’s recovered we’ll be doing long walks.

I will be rewarding myself with some new clothes. Have become really bored of wearing the same styles all the time.

I ate a small bag of Malteasers today, they are my usual go to chocolate and I didn’t really enjoy them. They didn’t seem to taste as sweet🤷‍♀️

YouBelongWithMe · 10/01/2026 22:22

Please can I join? I ordered my first Wegovy today. Hoping it's here to start on Friday.

I have very mixed feelings. I know this is a positive step to better health but it feels a lot to be admitting that it's got to this stage.

SW: 14st 6lb

That’s exactly how I feel. It’s exciting to be at the start (hopefully) of change, but also like I’m admitting failure/defeat. Trying to reframe that as taking control of my future!
