Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

Has anyone else experienced a split between mind and body? Day 3 for me and DH was making leek and bacon soup for dinner. It smelt amazing and I could physically feel my stomach rumbling in anticipation as I hadn't eaten since lunch. But my head had no desire for it at all. It's a very strange feeling.

It’s different for me. I normally get physical ‘pangs’ for food in my body, but this isn’t happening either, which is what’s helping my mind to not think about food. My stomach isn’t rumbling either.

That’s great @BooptotheFloof ! I’m glad it’s not just me that’s lost a large amount in a short space of time - it seems crazy!

I was eager to get started on a new HRT regime asap as I have a big holiday in a couple of months and I want everything to be settled by then and didn’t want to risk my cycles being affected (I had crazy ones which was the reason for going on it in the first place).

Morning all,

Just looking for a bit of advice if I may?

My first lot of WG arrives today. I have a 3 night break booked from the 20th which will involve some meals out/drinks and being fairly active during the day with walking and being away from the hotel.

I was wondering if I should get going today or wait until I'm back home on the 23rd. I am worried about potential side effects and feeling either unwell or needing to be close to a loo! It has been planned a while and DP and I have been looking forward to it.

I don't feel like I've timed the ordering very well but nevermind.

WWYD? Thanks.

Can’t believe how fast time is flying by! Due third jab of MJ 2.5 tomorrow morning. 3.5kg down this morning. BMI is now 27 (from starting point of 28) which is great.

My jeans feel really nicely loose 😂 I’m going to keep wearing them till they fall down as I’m enjoyed the loose feeling versus usually bursting out the top haha.

For years I struggled with food noise and cravings and MJ just makes it massively easy??! Wish I’d started a year ago!!

P.s. saw a gynae consultant yesterday and mentioned my HRT. He advised me to have a mirena coil fitted instead of taking the oral progesterone half the month.

Side effects appear for different people. I haven’t got any so far. I ate clean for the couple of days before starting MJ and have kept to a strict meal plan since. One of my friends keep eating her old food but less of it and she’s got a lot of tummy issues. I’m not sure if there’s a correlation.

I’m 20 days in and wish I’d started sooner!! On that basis I’d suggest you just get going with WG but be a bit cautious about what you’re eating and avoiding fatty/greasy food. Good luck! Hope you have a good time away 😊

Edited

I was surprised the nurse didn’t try to get me to have the mirena - she didn’t even offer it as an option! But maybe it’s on my records that I didn’t want it originally when I saw the GP (family member had a bad experience with it and then had to wait to go under GA to have it out as there was another issue with it!).

My trousers are feeling nicely loose too! My DH’s are literally falling down but he’s refusing to buy new clothes yet!

BakeMeACakeAsFastAsYouCan · 10/01/2026 10:42

@Splitunnoticed thanks for your response, it is helpful. I think on the basis of pizza with DP last night, I will eat better today and start tomorrow. I will be at home for a couple of days which makes me feel a bit better about any potential stomach upsets.

Very excited to start feeling better. A few active days with decent food is more important than being indulgent - this is the reason I'm starting WG, to reset.

Thanks 🙂

Day 3 of second injection.

I don't feel any effect at all (no suppression, no nausea, nothing), and have a normal appetite.

Food noise isn't bad at all. Crisp craving isn't back (yet!!??). Don't have cravings for anything.

Been playing tennis and gyming. But no real loss on scale yet (I can go up/down lbs per day, so what I thought was a 3 lb loss the next day was back up).

FrothyCothy · 10/01/2026 10:44

I would jab this week @BakeMeACakeAsFastAsYouCan and see how your side effects are, then if necessary delay your second until you return from your break.

BakeMeACakeAsFastAsYouCan · 10/01/2026 10:55

@FrothyCothy that is a good suggestion, thanks. Just waiting for the postie to arrive!

glutenisthedevil · 10/01/2026 11:25

2nd injection day for me today so I weighed this morning and have lost 6lbs this week. Happy with that.
For those who've been doing this a while, at what point do you order your next pen?

Exactly the same. Im on day 3 of 2nd injection. I have food noise though. My mind is going around my house thinking of all the things to eat. Only realise I do that because I didn't do it after my first jab.

Next week I will order my next dose.

Hi,

I would wait personally as one of my only side effects was diarrhoea which would’ve made a trip away quite difficult. Wait until you’ll have quick access to a toilet!

Im going to order it right after my 3rd jab which allows for two weeks just in case of issues with the delivery.

Whatstfpoint · 10/01/2026 11:34

I have always lost weight in waves. I don't know how or why. My scales wouldn't show a change for 2-3 weeks, because I start to retain water in a calorie deficit. And then the other week i pee a lot and am down 2kg or something. I noticed it this time too. I have literally lost 3lb since Weds. Maybe I should just weigh once a month or so.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 10/01/2026 11:48

Big test today. I'm out with my family. Mounjaro vs IKEA strawberry cheesecake, which force is stronger!

BakeMeACakeAsFastAsYouCan · 10/01/2026 12:04

@Dollyfloss that is what I'm afraid of. My sister said she has a couple of days with diarrohea and mostly nausea. This sounds moat unpleasant and inconvenient when away from home!

Another poster suggested I take it ASAP then can see how I'm affected, then hold off on the second dose until I'm back. This seems sensible. I just don't want to spoil the trip with limiting where we can go as it affects DP too 🤔

BG2015 · 10/01/2026 12:27

I'm on WG.
Day 3 of my second jab. No side effects at all this time.
I definitely still have food noise and I'm still feeling hunger but feel much fuller after eating and seem to be able to resist snacking.

On Juniper the injections are dispatched automatically unless you alter the delivery yourself.

Also on talk of diarrhoea (soz if tmi) I always found it didn’t come on until nearer the end of the week so like the 5/6/7 day after jabbing - I do remember reading some explanation as to why this is but can’t remember what it was.

Everyone is different obvs and some will have no problems at all and some will go the other way!

It was never really chronic with me but I would often be out and have a panic to find a toilet, it seemed to come on for no rhyme or reason (ie. Sometimes I’d have eaten that morning, other times I hadn’t had anything and it would still happen).

Funnily enough though I’ve now done my 2nd 2.5mg jab since starting again after Christmas and no problems so far so maybe this time will be different! 🤞

Hi Everyone. I’ve been reading all your updates.
After months of deliberation I did my first MJ jab yesterday.
It was strange injecting. It feels like a really big deal and I had a ‘I can’t believe it’s come
to this’ feeling. But, then I just did it.

I knew I was going to tackle this in the new year and as a consequence, well due to my warped mentality, I ate and ate and ate the last few months. So now I’m starting at a higher weight than I’ve ever been and feel
awful at. I just want to get down to where I felt overweight before. The days can’t pass soon enough.

Try to change your thinking - you are doing something really, really positive for yourself.

If it helps you to know - I am over one year in and four stone lighter and my life has improved in every possible way. Yes I look better but that’s almost a by product - the fact I’m now so much happier is what really makes me so grateful for Mounjaro. When I think back to how I felt last Christmas I’m a different person.

I just did my first one ten minutes ago. Agree it felt like a big deal - I had the needle injected but then it took me ages before I could make my finger push the button! Was like I’d pointed a gun at my stomach. And that was after spending hours reading and rereading the instructions and feeling like I just couldn’t take it in. Hopefully it will get easier going forward. How are you feeling this morning?

I was exactly the same over the past couple of months. I knew I would start after Christmas due to holidays etc, so ate all the crap food I could cram into my mouth. I even had one final Maccies breakfast on the day I'd planned my first jab.

I am telling myself that the days will pass anyway, and by next Christmas I will be glad I started.

Happy weekend!

I made it through my first week - at times I thought I wouldn’t 😂.

So I had my first 2.5mg injection last Friday. Spent Saturday to about Tuesday with really bad diarrhea and was going to bin the whole thing off. Figured out the triggers though and know what to avoid - anything with caffeine or stimulants which is excellent because I had a rather worrying red bull addiction and haven’t touched it all week. Late Thursday some appetite came back and then was properly hungry yesterday, Friday.

Decided to delay the second injection by one day so taking it tonight instead. Am hoping the side effects will have died down.

I am about to go to M&S and investigate their new nutrient dense range. This next week I am going to focus on trying to eat regularly even if I am not hungry at all. My goal at the end of this is to have a stable organised approach to eating healthy food.

Did a personal training session this morning - felt too weak after the last week to do much but moved around and feel better for it.

Total weight loss in the first week was seven pounds - but I am not taking this as my first real week as I am pretty sure only a tiny percentage of that would have been “real” weight loss.

So…onwards and upwards?!

BG2015 · 10/01/2026 13:42

We are going on a big holiday this year, Thailand for a month. We're doing a lot of travelling around and this is one of the reasons that I want to lose weight. I don't want to be a 'fat' backpacker and feel uncomfortable in the heat.

I've said to DP that if I /when I get to my goal weight I'm going to treat myself to some new swimwear.

How are you going to reward yourself going forward?
