Brand new January 2026 starters

BG2015 · 26/12/2025 11:58

Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

That’s exactly how I feel. It’s exciting to be at the start (hopefully) of change, but also like I’m admitting failure/defeat. Trying to reframe that as taking control of my future!

I have been quite ill and put on immunosuppressant medication. I've put on 14kg since being on it, which really shows on me. Even worse, now the medication feels less effective as I've gotten bigger. Hoping this will help me in so many ways.

I went out to dinner to a really nice restaurant with my in-laws this evening. I can't wait for the days that I go upstairs to put on something nice to wear and dont change 10 times because of the state of me.
I was a bit anxious when I saw the menu, there really wasn't anything particularly healthy looking. But I ordered a plate of scallops and they were devious, not the healthiest, but ok. Didn't even consider a starter or dessert while everyone else did. I wouldn't usually bother with desserts but starters are usually my favourite things on any menu. Didn't order wine either which is very unlike me. Again, didn't even consider it and stuck to the water.
Im only on day 3 of week 1, I was nervous about going out to dinner but it was totally fine.

SueblueNZ · 10/01/2026 23:04

When I wrote my last post I was still on the lowest dose (.25) of Wegovy which is the only WLI prescribed in NZ. I had had no side effects whatsoever but equally no hunger/noise suppression.
A few days after my first .5 dose I had consti-rrhea (couldn't couldn't couldn't until I really really really could!) and huge lethagy. I've now had the second .5 injection and feel only mild suppression which is very disappointing given it has so far cost me just under $NZ1000.
While I am down 4kg in just over a month I could manage this before by cutting out crap/snacks and watching what I ate.
Of course I will persevere; I'm really looking forward to stepping up to the higher dose in a few weeks.
It's really useful and heartening to read the experiences of others!

That’s amazing, well done! Was it hard to say no to those things, or did you find it easier than you would have pre-jab?

I probably wouldn't have had a dessert, but the place has amazing chowder that most of the others got for starters that I definitely would have gotten before.
Id usually stay away from the booze in January anyway, so no big change there. But usually id have wanted it, I didn't tonight.

Great to hear. I hope it kicks in for me too!

How are you going to reward yourself going forward?

I’m going to stop being a social hermit and go out more. I haven’t had a night out in I don’t know how long as I just feel so uncomfortable and self-conscious being the weight and size I am.

Also years ago I was gifted a voucher for a style/colour analysis that I never felt comfortable enough to use so I might brave that.

And I’ll probably get another tattoo 😁

That’s such a lovely idea! I’ve been promising myself that one day I’ll see a stylist - but I’ve never been happy about my weight and couldn’t see the point in spending the money

But my biggest reward is simply a pair of jeans - I am only 5ft 3 and started last week at 13 stone 9 - so I am beach ball shaped! I can not wait to fit in to the size 12 jeans that I bought two years ago and have never ever worn - they’ve never got past my knees!!!

BooptotheFloof · 11/01/2026 00:17

Oh and after saying I was going to take my second dose today I totally chickened out - I was so scared that it might make me sick - we are away for the night and we went to the theatre tonight - I wouldn’t have been able to relax

So I am taking my second dose a day late tomorrow evening

I am really proud of myself today though - I have resisted the offer of cake, dessert and interval ice cream at the theatre and when my kids had Maccie D’s on the way here - I ate some roasted chickpeas that I made this morning 😇

intentionals · 11/01/2026 03:08

Slightly late in the day as I fell asleep on my sofa but just had my second injection.

Plagued by the fear that (i) I will have bad side effects and zero appetite and also (ii) it will have absolutely no effect. My brain holds both fears simultaneously and has no problem with the inherent conflict.

No plans tomorrow other than a PT session I can cancel if necessary so bring it on!

This did make me smile because after my second dose on Friday pm I have had twinges in my rhs lower abdo and was convinced I had gallstones, then it stopped and I had some soreness on my rhs upper abdo and I have been convinced I have fatal necrotising pancreatitis. Don't have any pains anywhere now and pretty sure both conditions don't juat 'ware off' on their own, but amazing how we can different negative narratives running at once. I have also lost quite a bit my first week, which worries me as how will I sustain it? I need to eat more. Also worried I won't lose any more this week. Contradictions! Clearly am in 'worry mode'. We will be fine @intentionals 😳😊we are just worrying.

Dewberrywotsit · 11/01/2026 07:43

LOVE the idea of rewarding ourselves...I think I will stop wearing joggers. I bought some black NEXT joggers (about 6 pairs) and it is all I wear. I have completely abandoned myself to be honest and rarely make an effort ith my appearance as I feel so...un-myself-ish since divorce/meno/weight gain. So I plan to have a glow up! Get a tan (fake is fine), nice pair of jeans, get a hair cut (been doing it myself). The whole thing. 😊

mendandmakedo · 11/01/2026 08:09

Hi please can i join? I started yesterday at 12.30. Can't believe I don't feel hungry. I told husband I was going on it and he said not too but that he would support. Started and he isn't aware.

My Bmi is 30 and I have high cholestrol. No side effects. Had soup for dinner and felt a little full.Started diet of 1200 cals on wednesday, so had a headstart but was gearing up for giving up as hunger was so bad. Rewards sound a good idea, fitting into clothes would be good.

I took my first injection on friday night
Haven't felt a thing, still starving
But it was around this period that I got really bad sickness and diarrhea from last year's first injection so hoping I can avoid that

Hii, I had more or less reached my goal weight
I had lost 30kg. Was loosing so much hair and the price hike just made it seem not very worth it
I have gained 7kg back when I reordered and upon weighing last night, now 8kg
I wanted to be one of those who could stop the medication and not regain but my life went to shit and all my learned habits just went out the window
My partner surprised me on Christmas day with a trip to New York and it just reminded me I want to be in photos and happy with my body
I was on it for 6.5 months last year

Well done for the loss last year . Good luck for this round and hopefully a happy ( and slimmer ) holiday .

Thank you! And the same to you, I don't claim to be an expert but always around if anyone has any questions 🤗

Good to have someone a bit experienced in our little group!

@notcomfortable did your hair grow back once you stopped jabbing?

I've only just taken my second dose of WG today so a long way off, but I need to lose the same amount as you lost initially - wondering if it's better to try and take it slow and steady, but equally I can imagine that once you're seeing such fast results it's very hard to slow it down?

YellowStockings · 11/01/2026 09:27

Also @notcomfortable what a lovely Christmas present! When do you go?

BG2015 · 11/01/2026 09:27

This is definitely working for me. I'm still hungry as mealtimes approach but I'm fuller much quicker and I'm definitely eating less.

I told myself I wouldn't weigh daily but I'm so curious and invested in this that I can't stop myself 😂 and there's a further loss on the scales today.

Need to up my water today as I'm a bit constipated and didn't drink as much yesterday.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone

Yes, I started hair vitamins too late so I'd recommend taking it as soon as you can
On the plus side the extra collagen has helped my skin look fresh 😂

I don't know why my weight loss was so fast, it was a kg a week really
I was still eating quite a lot as I never had suppression, I wasn't starving myself but it just came off very quickly
I was 93kg when I started last March

We go next month!! My birthday is Valentines day so a Christmas and birthday combined
Very very excited and we've never done anything so extravagant x

Great advice, thank you! Can I be cheeky and ask which brand of vitamins you went for?

Have the best time next month!

Yeah I should've included that haha these ones, about 30 pound so on the pricey side but they do work i will also post a photo of my hair growth

Someone on another thread said pumpkin seeds are amazing for hair growth but I couldn't find which ones they meant
There's also hair tablets from Holland and barrat, has a white and purple label which I tried and had good results with but I don't have a local one so just a pain to make a long trip just for them

Hopefully it isn't something you will suffer from but its very common with fast weight loss, although some say its just mj that causes it x

Also just included a photo from September, I had just a wispy bit of hair 🤯
