Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

Out for lunch with friends today and shared 2 small healthy plates with a friend which was more than enough (plus nicked 2 chips!) - enjoyed what I had but no urge to order anything greasy/fatty. Such a change not to be the one with fish and chips! 2nd jab tonight.

I'm with Juniper and I'm very impressed with them. The whole process was very thorough.

I got digital scales, a tape measure and sharps box with my injections. There is an app which links to the scales and an AI bot which is excellent. Theres lots of stuff on the app too, videos, recipes etc. They also have a closed Facebook support group.

If anyone needs a code just DM.

Edited

Those of you on Juniper, have you checked what their maintenance plan is nowadays? Only I was with them for the first 7 months but then had to swap to Oushk bc they were going to cut me off as my BMI was about 22 (still a healthy bmi - they didn’t seem to have a long term maintenance plan at the time) whereas Oushk are very flexible and will continue to prescribe so long as you’re a healthy BMI.

Juniper may well have changed their rules now but I thought I’d mention it.

BG2015 · 09/01/2026 16:47

Just asked June and this was her reply. I think they're hoping that we have learnt how to manage our eating issues and maintain ourselves. Everyone knows that maintaining is REALLY hard.

I can't really keep paying out for this anyway long term so I'd try and maintain of if I could.

Can I ask a dumb question ? Took my first jab of Wevgovy today .
When do it again next week , I know I don't need to recharge the ( multipen ) again , but do I just turn the pen until the .25mg shows again and then do it again with a new needle ?

Well I feel like the last 24hrs has blown my first week apart. I’m probably being dramatic (definitely) but I have been so good this week being my first week.
husband had chemo yesterday afternoon that went a bit wrong and ended up going from the chemo ward to A&E until 2am which meant my dinner consisted of biscuits from the coffee station. Today - I am just soo tired and hungry that, although trying to be good ,has meant I have craved sugar and a well deserved alcohol beverage. Normally when I’m tired I just eat and eat, and I have mostly avoided that apart from a small number of Jelly belly beans for a sugar hit this afternoon as well as a good lunch and fruit for breakfast. But the Whiskey and Coke Zero is going down too well.

I can’t really say that I have lost the food noises this week - just more conscious to eat healthy and track because I am not going to waste this opportunity when it is costing so much. But unfortunately the last 2 days have been blown apart. I didn’t eat enough yesterday, and more than making up for it today.

You deserve some grace and time! With our thinking we think we undo something but we aren't. You are aware how you reacted in an unexpected situation now. It doesn't have to be perfect and sounds pretty normal!

I nearly relapsed today too and I'm sure I will soon. I went into the corner shop thinking I'm in full control, but my brain started screaming at me and I bought jaffa cakes. I managed not to open them yet. I am allowed a jaffa cake or two, but I don't think I have never not eaten the whole pack.

BG2015 · 09/01/2026 18:44

@FrostyFloyes, you twist it around until you get to 0.25 on the dial. Jab into skin, press the end until it clicks and count 6 seconds. I only know this as I thought you just jabbed, which meant I jabbed myself twice.

@bookwormcrazyim so sorry you and your DH had such a rough night. How is he doing today?

I had an allergic reaction to one of my chemo infusions, never been so terrified.

bookwormcrazy · 09/01/2026 18:51

@BG2015He is doing much better today thanks. He’s been having chemo on and off for 6 years but yesterday was a start of a new protocol he’s never had before and he started reacting before it had even finished. I have not seen anything like it so although better today, we are both a bit jaded.
I have been better than what I would have done in the past to get through today with lack of sleep and worry though, so although not perfect - still a lot better!

Thank you , I was worried if I did that it would deliver an empty dose . I wondered if you click past it for the second dose !

BG2015 · 09/01/2026 18:55

@FrostyFlothere is very little guidance for the second and subsequent doses, and I was really confused too.

Thank you! Normally - after the last 2 days I would have eaten the whole pack of Jaffa cakes and plenty more to get through it so definitely better, just beating myself up for not being perfect! Unfortunately my life is so unpredictable with my husband that I don’t think I will ever be able to take the emotional element away when things go wrong. Today has been better but not perfect!

So! I have been lurking on this thread since the start, and finally picked up my first pen from Boots just now. Was planning to inject tonight to give max time for side effects before work next week, but I’m knackered and not up to giving it the required focus so will do tomorrow first thing instead. Hopefully I can change schedule to Friday night in subsequent weeks.

V excited… but also v scared.

notcomfortable · 09/01/2026 20:08

Took my first dose of 2.5 mj
Very excited to get back on it!

Has anyone else experienced a split between mind and body? Day 3 for me and DH was making leek and bacon soup for dinner. It smelt amazing and I could physically feel my stomach rumbling in anticipation as I hadn't eaten since lunch. But my head had no desire for it at all. It's a very strange feeling.

I think that resonates with how I feel most of the time in my first few days. I still get hungry and think of food (quite a lot) but instead of following through and eating it all - my head is ok and being quite reasonable.

cravingmilkshake · 09/01/2026 21:25

Just taken 2nd jab of mounjaro . All ok, although did bleed this time and a slight track mark . Hope I didn’t do anything wrong !

sat now with a large glass of sparkling water and then go up to bed . This is really helping my dry January aswell 🤣

That’s a good way to describe it

Yes agree with this. Have felt it fade a bit the last day or so, next dose is tomorrow so wonder if some of the effect is wearing off

My second dose is also tomorrow and I’m definitely ready to have a bit of a boost.

BooptotheFloof · 09/01/2026 22:46

I couldn’t help myself - I weighed earlier today which is a day early but I’ve lost 11 bloody pounds since 3rd January!

I can’t believe it! I know it is mostly water but I’ve been so conscious of what I’ve been eating and haven’t had anything naughty at all and I’m really chuffed

So HRT - I can’t get an appointment until 22nd Jan - but I’ve decided not to stop MJ and also not to mess about with my medication - I’ve read that a couple of weeks won’t make a huge difference

I still feel a bit bloated today - which is why I am pretty shocked with the weight loss as I don’t look any different - I have taken photos and superimposed one over the other to see what shape change there has been - which was sadly minimal - I’m more looking forward to doing that in a few months time

I should be taking dose 2 tomorrow evening but we are going away at 1pm and I’m not going to get an opportunity to do it in the Evening

is it okay to bring it forward a few hours ? I was going to wait until Sunday when we got home but I’ve realised I don’t want to be tempted while we are away if my appetite comes back

Yes, I completely get where you're coming wrong. I'm a community NHS worker and popped in to Tesco to grab a meal deal for lunch as my stomach was rumbling.

There just wasn't anything I wanted to eat. I got one of the Huel protein shake things so I didn't fall over from lack of calories, but I had to force it down.

took my first jab Thursday evening and ate much better yesterday, don’t feel interested in the visual sweets and chocolate but haven’t been to the toilet. Any suggestions what I can do to help?

I had awful constipation the first time around on mounjaro
I tried senokot and senokot max but it just gave me cramps. I think because mj slows the digestion then you've taken medication to try and release it
I had to go to the Dr's for a prescription in the end
As I'd only poo once a week, wouldn't even fart!

Loads of water and herbal tea throughout the day. As much fruit as you can manage (kiwis, pears, apples...), beans, legumes, and if you're struggling to eat enough fibre-rich food maybe supplement with something like Biomel powder?

I had a few days of feeling like my digestive system was really sluggish last week (and it's definitely not feeling normal yet) so I'm absolutely taking my own advice!
